The drop rate off of Monstrous Kaliri is certainly higher than 3%, but it's still rather annoyingly low -- 10% to 30%, perhaps, when you have the quest. Those things are surprisingly hard to aggro when you're actually *trying* to.

They are used for the new cooking daily quest, Revenge is Tasty

Confirmed that this drops from Monstrous Kaliri as a quest item drop, so it will only drop for you if you have the quest.

First one I killed with the quest had the item, by the way.

I found camping out on top of the tower and the bridge (68,79) in Veil Ala'rak/Terrok's Rest to be quite effective to aggro these guys. The bridge is the proper height to aggro one every minute or so - took me 15 mins to get my first wing.

I got this on my 2nd kill, just hit up one of those top platform and wait for them to fly by and range them... in my case, I just DoT it and I'm good to go.

Best way to do this quest is to combine it with the daily sha'tari quest "Fires over Skettis".
Aggro from the birds is guaranteed during that quest.

For the people that havent been in Skettis yet, it are the big birds flying around, not the ones on the ground.
Watch out for tem though, they can easily daze you out of the air, they got a stun ability in combat aswell.

if this is the cooking daily on the day your actually doing it (ie you havent picked it up and waited) then high traffic in the area can make these annoying to farm, try picking up aggro over the lake on your mount and dismount to drop into the lake.
sometimes yer unlucky and land on a surger but it seems better than waiting for one to fly by your camping spot. any classes with fall control (priest etc) then you can use this tactic over land too, just keep an eye on what yer dropping onto...the big trees are a nasty surprise

I don't know if this is also easiliy done with normal riding skill, but I simply aggroed one of the birds and went to the closest egg platform or mountain top, this way you don't have to worry about aggroing other mobs and it's also fairly fast. I was a bit unlucky on the drops though, it dropped on my 17th kill.

Is it possible to stockpile this item for future quests? I have killed 33 birds and still only one wng dropped. Am I just wasting my time?

Got one on my first kill and only took a couple of seconds. I stood ontop of a roof slightly north of "Skyguard Prisoner" and the birds swooped down and attacked me. Killed both as holy priest spec. Careful if you fear them as they go mad like atheletes on disco biscuits.

Ahem.....the little icon displays 20...that means these things can stack up to 20 in one inventory square....other quest items (wich have a max number of items in inventory and will drop no more then it shows, ex. mana remnants ...have a number (4) on the icon
But still....such items also have the "Unique" mark in the icon....so i'm guessing you could get 20 of these

Skettis it is....(need flying mount to get there)
Yellow/red (is that orange ?) birds flying around at high speed....
As a Hunter it was easy (ye i know, but...)
A ranged weapon/spell is a must....take a chance and fly up on the roof of a high tower, use the <TAB> key and shoot.
1st birdcorpse ended beneath me, i left thatone for a while... 2nd bird died right at my feet and wupti there it was....The Wing...
Mounted up and flew down and out.

Ohhh, i did this as a part of "Daily Cooking Quest" (Lower City, Shattrath)

You will need a flying mount to do this quest. Fly to 69,75 and kill the big orange birds.

very sh*tty drop rate, killed nearly 20 so far and still no drop... these things are a pain in the *ss to catch too :(

The drop rate on these is terrible for how hard they are to find and kill.

Seems like I get attacked by every bird in the area on my bombing run, but the first time I actually LOOK for one of em they are nowhere to be seen. figures.

If you're going to try to lure one from the sky, it's easier over water. Getting knocked from your mount and falling to your death on the ground is always fun.

I've only done this quest once, but I had no trouble. I just went around looking for the prisoner like I usually do and the 2nd bird that attacked me dropped the wing. No problem.

Took me 3 kills the very first time (With my Hunter)

You might as well start the daily cooking quest and if it's take the daily bombing of the eggs quest as well.

Taking me 14.. Took 15 kills at the moment with my Paladin.

1. Can't get to a bird in time to get aggro.
2. Bird stops following you to a safe fighting area and stops moving.
3. While fighting the bird gets bugged and despawns.

So in other words... Those birds are annoying when you TRYING to avoid them.. AND they are annoying when you DON'T want to avoid them.

I had trouble too - but easy place to get them : 68,79 on that bridge :: they fly over and sometimes see you - if they dont, shoot/throw w/e : and get them to you. Drop rate still sux, but at least they come to you. :D

and watch out for the soulcallers : they are on either side of bridge : other then that - be prepared for 2 at a time (not always) cuz they pat that area alot
