today _27-05-07_ it bugged the first time we killed him, didn't drop a chest.. We decided to kill the other 2 first and then come back again. Second time we killed he dropped it normally.

He's pretty easy, had no problem keeping tank up as feral specced druid (1200 healing in healing gear). Does a stacking debuff that decreases armor and enrages sometimes, during non-enrage shadowpriest heals and rejuv were enough..

It bugged for us the first time as well, got the item on second try. But our first puller already had the quest completed, not the second one.

If you have ppl in group who finish that quest, skull don't drop. Just uninvite these ppl, and let them help without group.

I think it MAY have something to do with where you tank him. I stood at maximum range, threw Avenger's Shield, and tanked him down in front. No skull dropped. We went off to do another quest, came back, and tanked him next to his bag the whole time, and the skull dropped on the next try.

For all three of these group quests (and the two follow-ups) it is possible to take the loot whether you killed the boss or not - the drop remains at the body for roughly a minute. If you're having trouble getting a group, you can follow a group of the opposite faction around and pick up the respective quest item at each kill. You might want to help them actually kill the boss, or they won't take too kindly to you profiting from their hard work.

I got all 5 of my quests done this way as I found it impossible to get a group going.

Easy fight if your group does it right. Have everyone do their thing until you see him grow very large. When this happens have the tank move back and let Grulloc chase you, he should lose his buff in a few seconds. After that just keep hitting him again and repeat this process until he is down. :D

Make sure to be by Grulloc and the other giants right before they die. Then the skull, treasure, and flag will drop. It will be spawned by the body and will only be looted one-at-a-time.

This quest is bugged. Grulloc is not dropping the skull. GM said "they are aware of the problem and are looking into it". oh yea this is as of 7/18/2007 -- 9pm.

Grulloc puts a debuff on the tank like the one Rokmar the Crackler does in Slave Pens.

This is part of the quest chain to open up the Ogri'la daily quests. You have to kill five different elite Sons of Gruul. They are VERY tough and you must have a proper 5-man party to handle them (Tank, Healer, 3 DPS). You might even want to bring along some extra people that can help out of party.

We did this with 2 prep-rogues and 1 disc-priest, here's our strategy:

1 rogue starts tanking while the other rogue is doing a bit less dmg to keep the aggro on the tanking rogue
the rogue should not pop evasion at first, start with pain surpression than evasion -> prep -> evasion -> vanish, so that the other rogue will get the aggro and tanks the boss.
now the second tanking rogue needs to do the evasion circle first because pain surpression is still on CD

We did this strategy on all 3 ogres and there was no need for the second pain surpression but it was available

Burning Rage can be used at the same time as Grievous Wound, making it very hard for the healer to keep the tank up, for this reason it would be wise to kite him during Burning Rage even if your group would be able to heal through it normally.

Each time Grulloc activates his Burning Rage ability he will stop attacking for a second or two while growing. The icon for Burning Rage (as well as the red effect) shows up at the start of this short delay, this will give the tank plenty of time to turn around and run out of his melee range.

If you tank him at the side of the canyon, with Grulloc's back facing the wall, you can run across to the other side. By the time Grulloc reaches the tank Burning Rage will have faded and then the tank would only need to turn him around so the same move can be repeated at the next Burning Rage.

Run away.

Anytime he becomes enraged - run! and then attack when hes back to normal - worked perfectly for my group after 3 attempts until we realised how to do it >.<

He actually, literally drops the skull on the ground--I was helping some alliance guys kill him, and I was able to loot it. Win!

Yes, anyone can loot the skull after it drops, so I did all of the Gronn quests by gathering three full groups. Not a true 15 man raid because the quests can't be raided, but it worked the same way and it doesn't matter which group taps the Gronn. It got lots of people to Ogri'la in a very short time and very few deaths.

Retrieve Grulloc's Dragon Skull and deliver it to Mog'dorg the Wizened atop the tower at the Circle of Blood in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

To the east, at the terminus of Dragons' End, is the Cursed Hollow. Therein, Grulloc, son of Gruul, plots his dimwitted schemes.

I heard that one of his possessions was stolen from him through trickery. Was that you? Unfortunate that he was not slain in the process.

If we are to regain our freedom, I would have you take his most prized possession, a dragon skull from when he rejoiced in his father's slaying of the Black Dragonflight. The only way you'll get the skull is to vanquish him.
