If you're looking for a good place to grind at level 38 - 40, go to Land's End Beach at the southern end of the island. Sure, it's a hassle to get there, but there's a load of turtles that respawn fairly quickly and drop some good vendor trash. And since the place is practically uninhabited, you won't have to compete with farmers.

Tanaris is also home to the soon to be opened instance Uldum.

Uldum was one of the three places where the Titans left their legacy after leaving Azeroth. The other is Uldaman and Ulduar.

In order to have access to Uldum in the future, you need to do the partially completed questline of The Platinum Discs from the end of Uldaman.

Everyone should pay a visit to this zone while leveling, if only for the nice amount of grinding quests and the often-run Zul'farrak instance However, Tanaris isn't very profitable for herbalists. Herbalists may be interested more in Feralas, a zone in which there are copious amounts of Sungrass to be found.

If you've never been to Tanaris before, i have a route for you:

Get to Booty Bay (Stranglethorn Vale)
Get on the boat to Ratchet which puts you in the barrens.
Run down into 1k needles.
In the shimmering flats there is a passage in the right hand corner. (about 75,95)
Through the passage and your in Gadgetzan,Tanaris :)

The mobs outside Gadgetzan are level 40ish..
Don't attack people inside Gadgetzan.. you'll have the guards chasing after you if you do!

I don't suggest coming here if you don't have your mount yet, lots of quests require running around Tanaris which is not as small as it seems.
The Caverns Of Time are located in this zone for raids, although the dragons are about 52elites and there is a dragon boss outside the cave you can run into it with no problems.
I used to go to The Caverns Of Time if i was going to be AFK safest place but Gadgetzan is still safer since a 70 horde ganked me without getting attacked by those 70elite gaurds.
This is also the only place to buy poisons in Tanaris.

After Uldum is opened, Tanaris will be home to four instances (CoT: The Black Morass, CoT: Old Hillsbrad Foothills, Zul'Farrak, Uldum) and a raid (CoT: Hyjal Summit).

Tanaris is the place to be, I guess. :)

If you look at the mounts around Gadgetzan you can actually see some of the old epic mounts like The Mottled Red Raptor, and The Ivory Raptor.

Actually undermine isn't very close to Tanaris, it is far south from Zandalar ( the big island that's a bit south to the maelstrom). Oh and there's gonna be a new instance in the CoT when the wrath of the lich king will come out, currently it's blocked by a wrecked ship

its the best possoble place to quest for 40-50 only try to alter nate between hinterlands and this place.... still i went up 15 lvls here and increased all my stats by at least 10 {except the ones i dont need-strength,agility} with the gear so yeah i love it there

This is an excellent place for leveling, especially for warriors, paladins and hunters, there are lots of grinding quests and most of the mobs are skinable. However, there are only one or two types of herbs for herbalists, and the mineral veins are only besides huge rocks, the best 40-50 level zone for miners is Searing Gorge (42-50 lvl), and Feralas for herbalists.

Don't be fooled by the level range listed. Tanaris is an appropriate leveling zone for players 43+ unless you happen to be playing a great soloing class like a Warlock or Hunter. If you are like me and came here at level 40 you will find that most quests are still red and the enemies several levels above you in even the weakest parts.

You're right. 40-50 lvl zone only means that the mobs here are 40-50 lvl, but most of them are much higher than level 40 and it would be the best place for leveling when you're at least level 43.

This comment regards possible lore, Nozdormu, and Uldum.
Italicized words are presumptions.

If you go to Uldum, you see a gigantic hole in it's wall, making it apparent that something had broken out.

In Burning Crusade, you find the Aspect Nozdormu and the Infinite Dragonflight. The Bronze Dragonflight has a feeling of familiarity with this strange new chaotic Dragonflight. As time went on, WotLK came out and we learned that it is possible that Nozdormu is the leader of the Bronze Dragonflight.

Uldum apparently has the legacy of the Titans within it, and one of the legacies is that the Titans imprisoned the Old Gods. It could be possible that the Titans imprisoned an Old God within Uldum, and, because it was a laboratory for biosphere creation and most likely also helped create life upon Azeroth, the Old God could have regenerated enough to break free of its bonds, not unlike C'thun and Yogg-Saron. Then the Old God could have absorbed elements of the life creation machines to help it regenerate at a much, much faster rate than C'thun or Yogg-Saron. It could have then broken through the wall of Uldum and infiltrated the Caverns of Time.

There, it could have slowly corrupted Nozdormu just as presumably an Old God drove Deathwing mad. Hence the creation of the Infinite Dragonflight.

We also know that it is possible to kill a Dragon Aspect, as shown in the Eye of Eternity in WotLK.

Just a thought but maybe those two islands to the very south of Tanaris resembles a future battleground. I mean theres 2 Gnome buildings, and 2 Goblin buildings and in the middle a big oil rig. Maybe some sort of idea that you're going to fight about the rig, or an early early alpha small testout version of the new battleground that is comming next patch? (3.2) a.k.a. the Isle of Conquest!

OK, if you havn't been here, from ironforge, go to wetlands, take the boat to theramore, then go along the road to the barrens, from the barrens go south to thousand needles, from there head west, to the area called like the saltflats or whatever, and then head south again. quite a distance. once you get your griffin point in tanaris you can fly directly from theramore or darkshore

I find the Wind ones usually along or near the costal area not on the shore. Or the edge of tanaris. The rock ones can be found about anywhere.

Ok if you go all the way south and east to the beach with the giants on it, head south until you get to cliff and stuff, keep swimming south until you hit the deep ocean zone... i really dont see any way of getting there besides doing the hopscotch method of dying by losing energy and then going further than your body and stuff. Unless theres a cave that goes there but this island is WAY off the map so i think its a secret or something. Also if you hug the mountains /wall ocean and keep going west until you get south of that one evil zone youll hit a secret cabin of some sorts with a cave and everything, its completely usesless but its cool none the less.

The safest way to get here, especially at lower levels, is to swim. Take the ship from Menethil Harbor to Theramore. Once you are there, or even before you get into harbor, jump into the water and start following the shoreline south until you reach Steamwheedle Port. It was about a 10 minute swim with no swim speed potions.

Two important things to note.

The only point of danger is right at Theramore. There are some elder murk dwellers that swim in the bay at Theramore and they are level 42'ish. I noticed that most of them stayed down pretty low, but I did managed to get chased by one. I would suggest getting off the ship before it enters the bay if you are worried about this.
When you are swimming down the coast, the deep water is only about 3-4 character widths away from the shoreline, so you need to be attentive while swimming. Just stay in the light-blue water near the coastline.

Don't know much about Feralas, but Tanaris is definitely better for questing than the Hinterlands.

That is, unless I'm missing a ton of quests in the Hinterlands. In any case, a lot of the quests in Tanaris involving killing things, and are relatively simple. Beyond that, you have Zul'Farrak in your backyard, which yields several good quests. After you finish questing in Tanaris, you can then head to Un'goro where there is another slew of quests. Of course, you have to be 48+ to be able to survive there, but..you get the idea.

Faster/safer way to get there for the first time is to swim south along the coast from Theramore Isle.just keep close to the coast and you will be fine. Hope that helps.

A lvl 45 priest, 46 pally, and me a 48 warlock made it together to the islands. Very hard to get to had to have priest double back and res us. just few groups of pirates, a vulture or 2 and a few scorpians. Very disappointed since i heard there was supposed to be a message in a bottle from GMs. The islands wont appear on map tho since they are quite far to south, but reachable. If you were trying to get to the edge of world which ive heard of, this prob best place to try since once u reach islands ur fatigue leaves and ur already far off map.

Ok i heard secert islands so I went to check it out (on a lv 60 restro tauren druid) process of gettin there was very dangerous dont think any other class can get to it solo even with swift swim pots. Did seal form till health was almost 0, did nature swift and healin touch, hp got down 4 other times and did regrowth each time till i reached island. at 1st island there was 1 pirate and a fire roc than i saw 2nd island, which had lots of pirates with a pretty dang quick respawn no fire rocs on 2nd island. the place was lame but there was one unique thing, a dirt mound with 4 pieces of metal and a shovel around...im assuming these pirates were stranded and buried one of there dead but thats all i got.

u do realize, if u got to menethil and then to theramore hsrbour, u can swim south for about 5 mins and u get ther real fast...u arraive at steamweedle port and u just hehd north for gadgetzan :)

after that last patch (2.0) CoT are open! nothing there right now but some neutral red dragons atm, but in BC it will be an instance. so go walk right up to the door and walk in! no more big stone in way! and the hostile dragons are off to the side a bit so if ur 60 u could walk right past em, if ur like 40-50, and if ur here u prolly are, then walk the long way around, and ull get in

A few months ago... well more like a year ago i tried to go here on a 46 or 48 (don't remember) hunter i did not read the part about them not being on the maps and thought they where the island things east of steamwheedle port, i found out they where to gay boats floating, then i found the islands but could not go there. i tried again today on a 42 paladin NO HELP just the paladin (the hunter is 70 now) i got close to the island, at least close enough i could start to see what it looked like. I died. The only reason i got so close is because as a paladin you can bubble and not have dmg done. I did a corpse run bubbled and swam and i got like right on the edge of where the fatigue area fades. i died right there, basically a step away from the safe zone. Did a corpse run, i don't know how but i made it, rezed bubbled and got in the safe zone and almost exactly when i got in the bubble faded.

I found myself on a island, 1 of 2 a 42 paly off the map. Anyway the 1st island is big with 2 goblin-style houses 1 with a elevator in it, the elevator is primitive and it's kid of hard to get on and ride up, when you get up it's just a room with a bed, the 2nd house is empty and has a goblin style stick-shacky thing next to it. I FOUND NO MOBS ON 1ST ISLAND.

Between islands theres a goblin river structure, like the venture co. one in STV.

2nd island has a Goblin tower 2 goblin houses, a scorpion (lvl 44) is kinda guarding it it does have a dirt mound with 2 shovels in it lots of pirates with a damn quick respawn they drop normal loot.

Anyway I just posted this to inform they ARE still there. they ARE reachable as a 42 with no pots AS LONG as you have a bubble. :P

The druid's way of getting to the island off Tanaris:
1. Get to the bottom of Tanaris and cast aquatic form.
2. Find the outline of the island and swim toward it.
3. You may die once, but it is easy to resurect if you swim straight toward your corpse. after that, cast aquatic form and swim toward the island again. you should make it before fatiuge kills you.

I've done it three times. I made sure it works!

why don't they just have this island on the map? it is so easy to get to so why not just put it on the map and move it closer to mainland?

man tanaris is kind of hard. i was lvling my hunter there. it took me like 4 hours to do there quests and lvl to 49. i think tanaris doesn't like me. but all well the good part is that i lvled and that what counts.

level 42 druid....swam all the way south from theramore using aquatic form....easy. just be careful to stay in the lighter part of the water so as not to become fatigued and die.

You know those 2 strips of island that are showing on the map by wavestrider beach? They are not islands, these are 2 unknown ships, You will lose fatigue going out there though. One is a menethil ship, and the other ship is a pirate ship, like the ones at The lost cove or something.

yes, it DOES exist. it's just a few empty goblin houses. it's really difficult to get to considering it's REALLY far out and AAAALL the way at the bottom. yes, it IS located in the bubble thing on the map. there's a video explaining how to get to it on youtube.

It seems that Blizzard likes to "correct" a spot when it's discovered that said spot is great for farming. The Dunemaul Compound seems to be "uncorrected" as of this date. Good silver drops, good mageweave drops, vendor trash, and AH items can be found here, and the ogres drop quickly.

Not a bad quest... run away from them, or take them all on by doing whatever you can to get a few off your back. 55,92 is where you need to go in Land's End Beach, pretty much the furthest south you can go. I started swimming there from South Break Shore.

it is 2 islands next to each other. nothing worth on it some pirates lvl 45ish and some fire rocs, could only catch 4 diferent kinds of fish there. it will not show you on map. took me a swim pot and druid form to get there.

South/southeast of Lands End Beach in the distance is a medium sized island located well off the map. Tried swimming for it, but died to fatigued, also tried running as a ghost and died again with sight of shallow water on the other side. Curious as hell to see whats out there. Wonder if a NE ghost (wisp) or anyone with faster land speeds such as a hunter with water walk could maybe make it?

I got out to the islands just off Land's End Beach. There were two islands with an "oil rig" between them. Each island had 2 "houses" or huts, 2-4 south seas pirates of various types, and maybe a hyena or two with a scorpid. One of the houses was more interesting... it had an elevator to the upstairs bedroom.

I got there using my shaman's water walking and swiftness potion. I died the first time trying but since you can walk over the continental shelf areas (lighter water) before getting fatigue while over "deep ocean", i was able to aim for the shelf on the island before actually dying. I grabbed some ankhs to see if i could pop and run the last bit.

conclusion: shaman with 3000+ HP using waterwalking (multiple doses) and swiftness potion (ankh for backup) can make the distance across

I attest that what was described above is really all that is out there. There's really no reason to go there... But for you curious types how to get there...

First - who can get there... (without dying)

Druids ... use Aquatic Form with swim speed pots and/or Minor Glyph to improve Aquatic form speed. You should just barely make it.

Shaman + Hunter (+ Whoever else wants to come along...) have the Shaman cast water walking on everyone and the Hunter use aspect of the Cheetah/Pack. Speed pots could be helpful too but you have to pop them at the same time. If you get too far away from the hunter you'll lose the Aspect of the Pack. You should just barely make it.

***Recommend Party***
Death Knight (+ Whoever else wants to come along...) The Death Knight needs to be at least Lvl 61. He should then have path of Frost, which allows the whole party to have mounted Water-walking. Just make sure the group stays together... differing mount speeds might be an issue. If you get to far away from the Death Knight you will sink. You should make it there fairly easily.

Second - how to get there.

Go to Gadetzan, Tanaris from there head southeast toward a beach head south of the Caverns of Time. Then swim south along the shore until you hit Land's End beach. once there you can see some islands off to the southeast. That is your destination. Good Luck and say hi to Gilligan for me.

Made it there as Shammy, had to Rez though. There were 3 fire rocs and 11 or 12 Southsea Pirates.
Died on way back, but just rezzed at Spirit because didn't see shallows, and way too long of a walk back to corpse.
Coords were 0,0 wherever I went on the island, so I guess it really is off the map.

An easy place to grind for money and exp. 5 silver average drop and 300 exp. Plenty of Elements to attack. Just watch out for Earthgrab and them teaming up on you. Don't forget that this is a great place for mining Mithril. Get bored killing go for a Mining run.

There is a hill just south of Steamwheedle Port at the end of the beach. Swim around the hill and Zalashji's Den is a small cave facing the sea. Zalashji is a naga friendly (green) to Alliance, but I'm not sure what purpose he is used for.

Its possible to skip a lot of mobs on the way to Ghar'zilla. At the first intersection, with all the trolls surrounding the fountain in the middle, go up the left side of the hills and jump onto the top of the wall. This part is tricky and can take a few minutes to get up the ledge. Walking on top of the wall, cross over one opening. Continue on the wall or high side of the area to Ghar'zilla's pool area.

Very nice job of assembling bits and pieces of the minimap. I couldn't imagine doing all that, although I've considered it. However one thing it does lack are hotspots. While I'm generally opposed to instance maps, if you're going to have one, you may as well know what you're looking at.

That's after my meddlings, adding 5 tags.

A: This is the region where you will find Velrotha the Hydromancer and the pool where Gahz'rilla is summoned.
B: Theka the Martyr wanders this room, and it is LOADED with scarabs. While you should still kill the wanderers, this is the place to finish scarab shells. There is also a tablet here that tells you how to make the Mallet of Zul'Farrak.
C: Witch Doctor Zum'rah and his huge pile of shallow graves that come to life if you attack him.
D: This is the temple area where you free the prisoners at the top of the ziggurat to start the divino-matic rod quest and summon the "crazy 88". Among these is Nekrum. If you finish successfully, Bly is supposed to attack you in the end.
E: Chief Ukorz Sandscalp, who drops some of the best items in the instance. You cannot, or at least are not supposed to reach him until after you do the events in the temple outside, which blow open the door to reach him.

At the end of this my buddy said don't talk to Bly, talk to the other guy next to him. This lil guy will open the door for you with no fight. After he does that, they all hearth out. So, my question is this; can you also do this quest without fighting that group of people? Is that another option? Anyone else seen the instance go this way?

Please mark Antu'sul, the other boss. No one ever kills this guy- perhaps they dont care about some of his good/great drops, some can't find him.
Also perhaps mark where Zerilis roams.

Um, theres 7 boss zones in ZF, the hydra, the troll cave, the witch doctor, the executioner, the dude in the scarab room, and of course the two mains, im not techy so no im not posting where the others are exactly, but the cave is to the rignt of the scarab room. Check it out if ya dont know already:P

The quest giver for "The Caverns Of Time" is Andormu. He then asks you to follow the Custodian of Time around the Caverns of Time.

Quest may not be visible for now.

i went inside and found 2 active instance portals old hillsbrad and black morass old hilsabrd said i had to complete a quest called the caverns of time but i cant find the quest giver.....anyone see it?
