Lower Blackrock Spire and Upper Blackrock Spire share the same entrance. Just go up the chain you'd normally go down to get to BRD. Run off the end of the chain and head right. You can't miss it.

To clarify, once you enter Blackrock Spire, the first room will have two ramps up to a bridge that has an opening on either end.

The left side is Upper Blackrock Spire (UBRS), and the door will not open unless someone with the Seal of Ascension (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=12344) approaches the door.

The right side of the bridge takes you to Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS).

For the key to UBRS you will get an item off of the mobs in LBRS called the Unadored Seal of Ascension. With this seal you will need 3 gems dropped off of 3 different bosses in the instance.All of them are not that high of drop rates but still there is some good gear in there and is worth running a few time.
After you get the 3 gems and combine them with the seal there is a NPC hiding in LBRS dressed as a orc. When you get close enough he will mind control you and tell you were to go next.
You will need a group for the next part which requires you to mind control a dragon named: Emberstrife. The dragon is found down by Ony's Lair in Dustwallow Marsh.
To mind control you need to break his spirit. To do this you just beat him down on health and it will say that his spirit is broken. After this you mind control him and get him to breath a special fire that he has. The fire will forge the seal into the Seal of Ascension.
After you release him just kill him and go back into LBRS to complete the quest. You will then have the key to UBRS which not alot of people have.

Blackrock Spire is an instance, which, as previously indicated, can be entered by traveling into Blackrock Mountain and going up the chain that would normally lead you down towards Blackrock Depths. (This chain is to the left once you enter the large room after a short hallway, look to your left and you'll see the chain, run up the slope, not down it). Once you reach the top of the chain, run up the short incline and you will see a balcony, this jump can be easily made, but do not worry if you fall because you should live. Once on this balcony, turn to the left and you will see the entrance to Blackrock Spire.

Blackrock Spire, while truly once instance in the sense that it is on the same reset, consists of two seperate, independant paths to seperate bosses. Upon entering and going to the left at the bridge, you can enter Upper Blackrock Spire (if you have completed the quest chain that is done in Lower Blackrock Spire if you have the key - https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=4742) or if you go right and descend you will enter Lower Blackrock Spire.

There is a meeting stone for summons; it is by the non-shortcut entrance to the Spire, on the passageway to the eastern side of the circular ramp.

You can walk in that entrance and work your way up to the Spire, but almost no one does this any more because of the number of mobs you must defeat or stealth by to go this way.

just a small warning if be sure you check out the rewards for the quests in the outlands because you might get the item you want from here and then replace it a few levels later when you reach outlands and all that time and work will be a waste!

Note that in order to progress through upper blackrock spire, not only do you need the seal of ascension, but you need at least 3 people (including you) to fight Pyroguard emberseer.

I'm not sure if it is possible to solo everything after Pyroguard emberseer, but you need at least 3 people (including you) to get by him.

After you obtained the seal of ascension the door will open
automaticly when you walk to it, you don't need to wear the
ring in your ring sockets...just having it with you is enough...

behind the door are seperate "rooms" with red glowing
marks on the floor...(7 in total) with mobs standing around.
(tip: get the summoners first and fast before they can summon
more mobs...)

the marks will stop glowing when you clearout the mobs in each "room"

Damn yeah i bow before that guy i only made to do stuff such as his when i was soloing the stockades with my lvl 70 hunter. It seems our prayers have been answered. On 12/12, a blue poster by the name of Daelo said the following, in response to the question whether or not the altar in UBRS would be altered, so that the instance can be soloed:

We've made some changes to several dungeons to allow easier access for players in the upcoming patch.

The ritual objects that used to require 3 players to activate in Blackrock Spire and Uldaman now only require 1.
You no longer need quintessence to summon Majordomo Executus.
You no longer need the Scepter of Celebras to teleport to the final section of Maraudon.
You no longer need the Mallet of Zul'Farrak to summon Gahz'rilla.

The Scepter and Mallet both turn into actual weapons.

I for one am rather happy about this, meaning I can finally start soloing Drak- I -will- have full dreadmist!

Umm not sure who this is meant for but I just found the two handed Epic sword Destiny inside the lower blackrock spire and its not listed as a drop. got it off of a ogre in the first group of them you find inside.

As of 08 january on the PTR the Upper Spire can be soloed. The 3 man summoning pyrogard only need 1 to do the process.

Drakkisath also can be beaten by lvl 80 arms warrior in tanking gear :O

First make sure to clean the patrol in the room cuz they will see you fighting Drakkisath, then kill one of his guards, he ll do you the Conflagrate ability on you. I couldnt nor miss nor resist it, but with lifebloom and enraged regeneration i make him down easy to 7,6k hp on me.

In 3.0.8 the door to UBRS that used to require the key/ring is open as default.

Seal of Ascension is now only usable for getting aid from Vaelastrasz during the Rend fight.

Any idea why I cant get to section 2? I can go into the 1st door on the right to go into UBRS. Once I get into the room (dragonspire hall, but when I get to the door at the end to go down into the section 2 area before Pyroguard Emberseer, it is closed and I cant figure out how to open it. I tried killing everyone in the room. I tried equipping the seal of ascension ring, which is supposed to be no longer required... so I assume Im doing something wrong?

I did this dungeon w/ 2 fellow guild members,who were also Death Knights like my character who's now lvl 64, also a priest and a paladin on Wyrmrest Accord, failed to get the Jenkins title achievement, we failed to kill 50 rookery whelps in 15 seconds or less, which is the requirement to get the title of Jenkins, all 5 of us were around lvl 61-65, got all the way up to General Drakkisath, wiped only twice before we killed him. Overall, a very good experience and I would love to see the look on somebody's face as I show a screenshot of my raid group killing Ragnaros in Molten Core.

I was confused for awhile and didn't find an answer to this so for anyone wondering how to enter this, after you go into Blackrock spire, and turn left towards the upper area there is a closed door. It will open when you kill all the orcs in the little side rooms surrounding the door. And of course you don't need that ring anymore, nor more than 1 person to clear out this instance.

Soloed LBRS as a Level 65 Prot Human Warrior, and a very exciting trip too, because almost every fight left me on the edge of losing. Thankfully, at this level, it's possible to ignore a large portion of the earlier enemies, due to the low aggro radius, and there is a huge shortcut you can take almost at the beginning. It's easy to be put off this Dungeon at first as the multi-leveled and twisting turning layout of it can be confusing, but stick with it and it starts to make sense.

From the start, run into the hall, ignoring the mobs on each side, and head up the stairs to the right. Go through the door, to a dead end with a small drop into the next room. Drop down here, down the ramps to the left, and through the door to the left, ignoring mobs. You will probably have to clear one Scarshield Legionnaire and a Spellbinder but that's it. As you pass through this corridor, you will enter a large relatively open hall with pillars, ravines, bridges and so on, called Hordemar City. Immediately when you enter here, turn right, and look down, to see a burning river of magma. At the extreme right of this, against the wall, is a ledge, that is an easy jump, then another, lower ledge, which will in turn lead you right down to the Firebrand area with all their little tents and stuff. You'll lose about 25% HP with each jump - just sit down to recover for a minute each time.

When you get down to the Firebrand area, there will be up to two patrols of 2 mobs, which are an easy clear, then you have to clear a side of the corridor to travel down. (While you are here, if you are a Blacksmith, remember to check the Human Remains near the magma river.) The key to success here, as most plate wearers should know anyway, is to absolutely gank the caster classes ASAP - you will be dealing with Invokers (Fire Damage) and Darkweavers (Shadow Damage). Get them dead while the Grunts hammer uselessly at your miles of plate, and then put them down.

After this corridor, you have the relatively easy Skitterweb Tunnels - I would just suggest killing the small spiders before the large, because if you do it the other way around, you WILL get overwhelmed. I scraped through one very rough fight with maybe 16 fresh adds before I figured this out. At 65, you should be able to go right round the back of Mother Smolderweb without her aggroing - you really don't want to do the rest of the Dungeon with her annoying Mothers Milk poison effect on you, although it can be cured or prevented easily enough. But if you are trying for the Mothers Milk Quest, then you want to be able to come back to her to intentionally get poisoned last thing before you HS out.

Climbing up out of the Tunnels, you can kill about 1 - 3 ogres, then hop up and past the rest to your left. You may or may not be able to sneak past the Scorpids in the next corridor, they are easy kills, but twice I have had Bloodaxe Raiders and Worgs add when fighting them. Just be careful.

Up the next ramp, go right, and you can, if you need to, go kill Halcyon and catch a Worg Pup, by going to the end of the corridor (ignore everything to your left, a worthless boss and dead end basically), or you can just go up the next ramp to your right, into Blackhand Hall. You should be able to skip through here with no fights, until you get across the wooden planks at the end, where you will be forced to clear a couple of Veterans (nasty kicks and stuns) and Summoners/ Invokers. As usual, Casters must die first, no matter what.

After here, you'll enter the final area, and there will be about 5 - 7 mobs you must clear to progress. They will hold a sample of all the different enemies from the Spire - trolls, orcs and ogres. Shouldn't give you too much hassle really, as long as you prioritise your targets effectively and heal up between fights.

Finally, it's Overlord Wyrmthalak, and this guy gave me a SERIOUS fight and fright. It went right to the nail, and I think I got lucky with the adds, because when he called his two helpers (two random orcs), they seemed to take forever to arrive. I took him from 17k to 3k before they actually got involved, and then it was a case of putting him down and turning on them. Even still, it was damn close - I had potioned up, activated Last Stand, Shield Wall, and my Talisman of Arathor, and it had all dropped again and I still had both of them to kill. What saved me was a very very timely Intimidating Shout - both adds ran off for 5 seconds, and I managed to quickly bandage from about 150HP up to 1800 before they got back. Shield Block and Revenge, and they died. One thing I'll say about OW though, is watch that knockback - it's as much a knockUP as it is back. I knew it was coming, but I expected to go back at a shallow angle. What he actually does it punt you way up in the air, and the fall damage is brutal. Get yourself stuck under a rock or overhang or something for this fight, and save yourself some pain.

Achievement won, Letter found, missions either complete or partially complete, and once you've come this far, almost anything earlier in the Dungeon is a breeze, and can be done at a leisurely pace. I went through it backwards to kill the other bosses, only missing out on summoning Urok - just can't manage 10 elites in a row, half of them casters, without a party :(

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, but I genuinely enjoyed this Dungeon, as it was challenging, but not to the point of stupidity, and to manage it yourself like that is very satisfying. Plus, it would seem these days, there is little choice - I had spent a fortnight LFG for LBRS and it's the same old story - who does classic stuff any more these days? Nobody.

Easy solo, both sides, on an 80 frost mage. I would go frost for any soloing because of bubble.

Just take it one group at a time and it will pose no problem.

If you want to solo the upper portion of this dungeon and have no healing abilities, I highly suggest you still grab the Seal Of Ascension as it will grant you a 91k heal (yes, 91k) every 3 minutes during the coliseum event with Warchief Rend Blackhand at the end and will save non-healing classes many consumables.

I'm not going to mention anything about skinning.

UBRS has humanoid and dragon mobs, mostly 58-61 elites, although there are some none elite mobs (the eggs in the rookery spawn non elites when broken). This is a fairly easy instance, with 15 people but you do have to take your time and be a bit careful. It normally takes me about 2 to 3 hours to complete. I would recomend people being level 58 or above before going to this instance, but I have taken a maximum of one level 57 per run.

My favourite group setup includes:
2 priests
1 druid
1 warlock
2 mages
2 warriors
2 paladins
2 hunters
2 rogues
1 keyholder

What I've found, is between sheeping, sapping, sleep, and freezing traps...with this group setup you can almost always figure out a way to not fight an entire group or mob at once. Plus, you havn't more than 3 of any class (counting the keyholder) and when it comes to class set items, this makes people happier.

I've not done the UBRS key quest myself...but this should be helpful:

To get the worg pups you have to go pretty far into LBRS after Urok Doomhowl and after a bunch of scorpions and you fight 2 big ass wolves, the worg pups are with the 1st wolf and then the 2nd wolf comes in after you drop the first 1. Very simple

UBRS Key is called "Seal of Acention"
you need the unadorned Seal of Acention and it's a random drop in LBRS. Then you need to talk to a guy in LBRS to get the quest that allows you to form the key. The 3 gems are dropped off Warmaster Voone, Lord Omokk, and Overlord Wyrmthuk. Then there more stuff in Dustwallow Marsh to complete the key (for alliance anyway).

Secondly all quests in UBRS can be done in a raid, but the LBRS ones are 5 man only. UBRS is possable 5 man, but it's really damn hard.
Level for BRS is 54 min (I think) but your doomed to fail unless your level 56+ really. Even then 57+ is far better.

You do need 310 skinning to Skin the Beast and now you get get a sword from ZG or Finkles Skinner (Dagger that The Beast drops).

Hope that clarifies up most things.

Sadly a lot of the original higher level instances are not really that relevant anymore for the level they were designed for. Outland, with much better gear and experience beckons once you hit your mid 50's.

However, LBRS does make a nice solo dungeon for lvl 70s. I did it with my 70 fury warrior (purple weapons, some purple armor but mostly blues). It was generally easier using a shield, but more exciting dual-wielding (a true race of kill or be killed :) ) What I found nice was I couldn't just zerg through - you really need to plan your pulls a little before rushing in. Hamstring is your best friend because runners, no matter how elite you think you are, will eventually get you killed. Healers and casters still need to die first. They hit surprisingly hard - 700+ dmg and some really nasty debuffs and curses.

The take, counting items sold on AH and less repairs, was a bit over 100 gold. And it was fun!

So if you are sick of daily quests, take a break and hit one of the higher level classic old instances. Might make a nice rewarding vacation from BC content.

This instance is located right off of searing gorge. Just go west and when u see a bridge going up then go on the bridge (Blackrock Depths is loacted by the first chain to your west and follow the chain and go in the cave and go down and this should be there.) (Lower blackrock spire is located by the first 1 but instead of going down the chain go up and when ur on the wall jump onto the ledge and turn and you should see it.)

I started out doing BRD solo at level 70 for fun and to measure how my character power improved when i had obtained new gear.
It occured to me that there was a significant amount of money to be earned doing instances solo, but BRD spawns little Bind on equip gear and not much plans and designs that can be sold on the auction house, so i started out in the lower Blackrock spire..

My character is an epic specced combat Rogue wich uses battleground gear. I use deadly poison and cripling poison on my swords for the extra damage and to avoid mobs from running off. I can handle groups up to 5 or 6 mobs but when one runs off and gets another group then it would be too much and i have to use vamish. Usually i can solo the complete instance without having to do so.

On a complete run through the instance i gather around 20 gold in silverpieces from the trash mobs, sell for about 30 gold on blue soulbound and useless items to the vendor, and -more importantly- about 100 gold on sells on the auction house. My best run was about 500 Gold when some good plans or designs dropped. I'd say i get around 150 - 250 gold for each run and this takes about one hour.

The only mobs that i have difficulty with and have to use all my powers to kill are War Master Voone and Overlord Wyrmthalak (end boss) Voone hits VERY hard and if you cant down him quick enough your dead meat, to date i had to use vamish on him once when i forgot to wait on some colldowns...
Overlord Wyrmthalak is about the same, hits less hard then Voone but he spawns two trash mobs.

Sometimes i miss the company of others when soloing LBRS but as someone said in a post above its more difficult to do this with others then it is to do alone. They aggro wandering mobs and because the lower level will draw any mob to them -thus dying-

Such a shame UBRS cant be solo'd because of the three people needed to summon a firemob wich opens up a door on his death. Though i doubt my character is powerfull emough to solo the UBRS instance...

But doing LBRS solo is both fun as it is profitable...

We hit UBRS last night with 3 Paladins and 1 Mage and creamed the entire 10 man raid in a little under 28 minutes. It dropped, a ton of trash greens, 9 boe blues, tons of grey crap and a ton of cash. It was fun and exciting, and we downed every boss. We even were sloppy and pulled a Leeroy.

I just did LBRS solo with a level 70 hunter. My pet held the aggro very well, and only came close to dying once, used feign death, and my pet picked the aggro back up, so I lived.

After vendoring the BoP items, and auctioning the BoE items, I made a total of around 225g.

One of the higher selling blue items I looted was Hanzo Sword (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=8190/hanzo-sword), which I put on the AH and got 60g for.

I'll be going back to solo that instance some more because there's some gold to be made in it.

I went to solo with my 75 lock (getting tired of Northrend and wanted a break) i'm on a companion qst so i just wanted the spider and worg pup. found it was a pretty neat dungeon but I had no idea how to do it so I found myself asking how to go on... I got a little overconfident after creaming the little guys i ran straight into a group of 20 orcs and two wolves while my pet ran off who knows where and died in a heartbeat.So be careful if ur soloing this at high lvl maybe an 80 will do better:) i plan on going back to get my pets though....

I was bored with Northrend daily and I went soloing LBRS, UBRS the other day with my hunter lvl 80 (and a gorilla pet). Since i'm casual player i'm mostly gear out of rep reward, blue quest reward and crafted or world drop epic gear from AH with the ness4k for gun... not the big deal! But ok!

Actually was quit fun and complete 2 achievments (kill drakkisath and wyrmthalak). I had around 15-20 blue drops (DE armors and vendor weapons) TONS of runecloth that I auction for 5g a stack (had like 12-13 stacks), lots of green (DE into greater eternal that you can sell around 13-15g/each).

As for the challenge I say at lvl 80 there's none (really... even The Beast... that push my gorilla into a pack of mobs that i ''manage to recover'') was doable quit easy and i'm no BM anymore (change to Surv with 3.0.8). I'm sure its even easier as BM hunter. My pet die once because I try to do the Jenkins achievment but I guess it's not soloable for hunter with my overpower ''AOE'' skills ;-) Mage can probably do it.

Anyway the point of soloing old instance/raid are not really the challenge but to simply have fun and make a little money. I say I earn like 150g-200g for that run. I know I can make more with daily but its not the same.

So if you need a little break of daily, quest, instance with your lvl 75-80 go there... its really fun.

omg this is long i went with a lv 51 warlock mix speced, a lv 80 dk unholey spec , and my self a lv 48 demonology warlock the mobs wernt that bad its just way to big and maze like. were can i get a map of it?

Just soloed most part of it with my 60 level warlock. I mean lower blackrock spire of course. Killed last boss on the second try... The mobs are prety easy, though died 2 times while killing 2 groups together, because forgot to heal voidwalker, and was concentrated on dps... (It's impossible for new summoned voidwalker to gain aggro...)

My gear is from BRD, nothing higher...

I should again admit- Blizzard ruined preTBC dungeons...

P.S. I have heard blizzard is going to nerf voidwalkers HP. "Bye bye soloing 60 level dungeons :D)

Rogues: Don't forget, there are tons of Bloodhounds. Depending on your level (the lower the easier); they will see you, therefore, you step atop one or just get too close and you've got them all on you and anything nearby.

VANISH (or Shadowmeld) will not solve this problem as they like... have a f'n memory of you and know you're doing it. (lol)

Therefore; if you get caught: FIRST SPRINT and try and get away. (Know the area little so you know a semi-safe spot.) THEN Vanish to clear them off your tail.

Otherwise; this place is great for pickpocketing and you can also pick all the doors.

-(Lvl 75 Combat Rogue looking for Heavy Junkboxes.)

Lots of Sturdy Junkboxes too, after getting 20 total junkboxes in about a half hour (around 1 box per mob), I found three good gems and made about 75 silver with lots of other random junk.

You should add circles with numbers in them, and then "to 1" at the end of arrows to indicate which section of the map is "next." I've done ubrs several times so know it, but I think it'd be useful. Incredibly done map btw.

If you look in some of the files on for WoW... You can find the radar map whole :D

Can save you a lot of time. You need a prgm to be able to look inside there unique MPQ files.

I took a lot of screenshots with the radar set to max zoom - 2. That seemed like a good level of detail.

I macroed photoshop to snip out all the radars from all the screen shots and do a first pass, heuristic, attempt to line them up. This has to be heuristic because the colors are rendered slightly differently depending on light sources near you as you move.

I merged the layers of logical sections together.

I cut out details from the map that were from floors below the current one (since they are effectively noise).

I used 60% transparency on layers that are at different levels than the current one that I wish to emphasize.

Added annotations and arrows so the route through the map would be obvious. Clearly you can optimize your route but I wanted a common path to be apparent for first timers.

I am going to do Scholo next, probably

The map shows the general direction you want to take if you want to kill every mob in UBRS, but you can shortcut quite a bit (half the mobs in Anvilcrack's room can be ignored and still pull him, you can jump off the balcony into the arena, etc...)

its as normal a lvl 58 + raid dungon .. on our server healers get in earlyer if they cant get bether .. manny will not have other lvl than 60 to there .. but have fun :O.... :) :(:/:):S:D:P:[

When feared into the dungeon entrance you sometimes get the prompt "You need to be at least level 45 to enter."
This suggest the lowest entry level but needs to be confirmed.

UBRS:

Once you enter the first room you need to clear each pack for the door to open. Summoners are kill priority. Pulling groups just outside of their room will make healer's jobs easier than charging in.

Rookery: Your group will most likely skip the rookery as there isn't much in the way of gear. Stay as far away from the eggs as you can. If you DO want to do that optional boss, clear the ramp above the rookery first and have a rogue start the event then vanish. Occasionally the mobs will run away to manually crack eggs, save your stun for that.

After the rookery your kill priority is now the smaller dragonkin. Orcs in this area will often charge at random players and knock them back quite a distance so be mindful of where you could get launched. If you get launched off into the eggs either vanish or accept your fate and die somewhere people can rez you from above. Groups typically skip the Anvilcrack boss as he only drops niche armor. The rare spawn Jed patrols this room too though and drops good stuff.

Finding an instance with Jed: A few group members can drop from the raid and start zoning into their own instance of UBRS. Right as you zone in run up the ramp but go no further. Make a macro "/tar Jed" and spam it every ~15 sec. Jed's room is right above where you are but he takes about 2-3 minutes to patrol close enough to get picked up by the macro. If you can't target him after 3 minutes, zone out, reset instance, and try again. Be sure to only do this 3 or 4 times as after you enter 5, you will be locked out. Once someone has found Jed, that member should tell the raid lead who will then tell everyone else in the group to drop and whisper whoever found Jed for an invite.

Dropping down into Rend's pit, make sure hunters and warlocks dismiss their pet and shaman get rid of any totems as both can easily lead to pulling way too many groups and lead to a wipe. If you wipe after triggering the pit event you will be locked out of killing Rend.

After the Rend event the instance gets a bit harder. Kill priority is Assassins and the small dragonkin. You'll be wanting to pull groups back so additional groups don't get pulled accidentally. This may be where you want to start CC'ing mobs. If you clear the whole room the final 2 pulls become much easier because you can pull all the way back and priests and warlocks can use fear to CC.

The Beast: its difficult to control this fight as a tank because he fears the raid very often. Try to tank him close to the cave he starts in so people don't get feared into the previous room and pull adds.

Drakkisath: There are 2 adds and the mechanics basically require 2 tanks. Have a hunter pull then immediately run all the way to the Beast's room then feign death. This will buy time for the 2 tanks to grab and kill each of the adds. Hopefully they are dead before Drakkisath makes his way back to the final room. Once tank should grab him and face he away from the raid. He will occasionally use an ability that disorients the tank, the other tank should immediately taunt. Rinse and repeat.

The Dungeon Set 2 also called Tier 0.5 is aquired through a fairly lengthy, somewhat difficult and expensive quest chain through which you upgrade Dungeon Set 1 pieces.
After completing Return to Bodley which is one part of the chain, you will recieve Brazier of Invocation: User's Manual and Brazier of Invocation.
The manual describes where the brazier can be used to summon a variety of bonus bosses with rare loot in the following dungeons:
