This achievement is in the 'Feats of Strength' section. You do not recieve Achievement points for any FoS Achievements.

Wonder, if you can get this achievement as a mage or warlock. The bow itself has no class requirement, so I think it's possible.
Would be very funny. I'll aim at it! :o)

Post Patch 3.2, it's been confirmed by the Blue that for those who can not equip the Legendary items, we can not get the associated Feats of Strength Achievements. Per Blue Dev, the change was made "due to the new instance item trading feature" implemented in Patch 3.2.

I can confirm this, as I acquired Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury for my Death Knight a day after the implementation of Patch 3.2, but I did not get the Feat of Strength Achievement.

So for the aspiring players trying to get the FoS associated with BC legendaries, I say don't waste your time if you can't equip them!

This item is tradeable. The first person to equip will get the feat of strength immediately and get the usual announcement for it. Any other people that it gets traded to and equipped by will also get the feat of strength, but not immediately and there will be no announcement for it. You will only have the feat of strength after relogging, even if the thoridal is no longer equipped or in your inventory.

I traded this to my rogue friend (after I equipped it) and he didn't receive the achievement after equipping.

OK, so I just got it tonight. The loot rolls were on normal, and a Rogue actually won it. The GM told him to give it to me, the only hunter in the guild, and the rogue happily complied. When he gave it to me, I got no achievement after I scoped it, and put it on. I thought it was odd that I didn't receive an achievement so I submitted a ticket. I logged out of the game for a bit, and when i came back on, I looked in my achievement tab and there it was under Feats of Strength, Thori'dal, the Stars Fury. Dunno why it did it. Oh well, I have the coolest bow in the game, and the Meta Achievement for my guild in Cataclysm "We Are Legendary" =D

This Feat of Strength will not only NOT be rewarded to non-hunters/rogues/warriors who loot the bow, but the GMs will not give you the Feat of Strength if you submit a ticket, either. I solo'd Kil'jaeden on my Death Knight earlier today and didn't expect that he'd drop the bow (which would make it twice in a row - I had brought a rogue along last time), but he did. I submitted a ticket explaining the situation. A GM contacted me ingame saying that their policy isn't to award achievements ever, and I cited the example posted by magefury5 on this page. After a long pause, the GM responded:
"Aaalright found all the notes and information regarding this. The FoS was handed out at that time because the change had been unannounced and there were a lot of special factors playing into that case. Now that we are here, where the change has been implemented and in place for years with all verbage regarding the FoS we will not be able to grant this achievement."

So if you care about the FoS at all, bring one of the classes that can wield the weapon.
