Am I the first one, who notices that first five symbols/runes/whatevah in this shield (beginning at the middle one "O" to the left, not counting right mirrored symbols) are VERY similar to Hebrew word "סוזנה", which, as far as I can transliterate, is the name "Suzannah" (Susanna)?

I got this shield and equipped it right away thinking it would help. But locks and spriests are still having a field day with me. Why is the darkness still penetrating my defenses?

This is a vrey good shield for Threat/ Aggro gear set. More block generates more rage so u can hold better aggro .

If u dont know who to use between Shield of Impenetrable Darkness and (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=34676) Dawnforged Defender i say to use Shield of Impenetrable Darkness to tank mobs and Dawnforged Defender for melee bosses so u will have more dodge .

This was a hallmark of The Burning Crusade. Simply laying eyes on it brings back waves of nostalgia of BC raiding. An excellent T4 shield, it's got a beautiful model that I wish to see widely again someday.

One of the best looking shields in the game.

I'll definitely be going back into Kara to get this bad boy again (Used it through most of TBC) for when Transmogrification is available.
Especially since it has a unique model. It is definitely an eye catcher.

This shield is a beautiful addition to the BC Judgement set recolor. 4.3 can't get here soon enough.

If you want to look unique, I'd definitely say get this shield. Not many, at least from my own experience, would go through the trouble to do the quest chain to be able to summon Nightbane. As we all know that Karazhan is fairly easy to solo, so this shield is an excellent choice for transmogrifying. Happy hunting!

If you want to build a tank set around this shield and are using a sword then Chromatically Tempered Sword is a good choice I feel.

From a transmog standpoint that is.

This is a drop off Nightbane, considered to be the last boss of Karazhan.

You will need to do some Karazhan related quests at first after you attain
Honored with The Violet Eye (as I rememeber it), after that you will need to
do some heroic instances, basically it take a little while to get to Nightbane.

His loot is very worth it though!

This shield is big and "imba" looking, but in a way I still prefer Crest of the Sha'tar
with 2xSolid Star of Elune with the 18 stamina enchant added to that.. 60 stamina.

Dunno why people are knocking on this thing's looks. I think it's a classy looking shield, and I tell you a black shield is going to look good with a lot more armor than a blue and white glowing shield.

Also this shield will look much better with t-4 armor than the other shield.

As for stats, yeah that's true the 33 badge shield has some slight advantages, but I tell ya if this drops I'd rather keep it and spend those badges on something else (perhaps gnomeregan auto-blocker 600)

I fail to see the advantages of Coldarra over this shield, which has better armor, better stam, better shield block value and equal defense.

In fact, before I got this, I used the exalted sha'tar shield and never bothered to get Coldarra which, to my opinion, doesn't offer an upgrade worth 33 heroic badges. Far from it.

Can someone tell me why a pally, who is in the same guild with a prot warrior who needed an upgrade roll on this item?

i'm going to assume that the pally was protect, seeing as you didn't say.
the pally might have needed an upgrade as well, and seeing as there is only 2 or 3 shields better than this one, this is most likely an upgrade. it is not only warriors that can tank and use shields pallys can as well, and do so very well. nobody has ever complained about my tanking and i would roll for this if i had a protect warrior in the group; pug, guild, or otherwise.

This shield doesn't seem to drop.

We are farming Karazhan since a fair amount of weeks and no drop luck for my pally tank.

The Coldarra Shield is hardly different to this one, but still I am getting bored of it :-). This one got a little more of everything (block value/stamina/armor) and not EVERYBODY is running around with it on my server.

Downed Nightbane twice, first time the warrior tank got this, second time I was tankadining it and got this :) Nice with a +18 stam enchant and and a slight upgrade over shield of the colderra (if it drops, you may as well take it).

Next upgrade is Gruul's shield which is clearly a pally shield (looks only)..................

I dont have a great shield and havent seen this drop yet so should i wait for this or farm for a glad shield wall... im leaning towards the shield wall because it has massive stam and armor and i can get it a lot sooner than later.

Finaly got some nice epics and was able to give nightbane a try. First time ever and he drops my shield woot! He's pretty easy if you make sure you have fear ward up or you can stance dance.

ok just my luck lol. I have been wanting this shield for so long, i finally gave up and got the badge shield. VERY next nightbane kill this drops! lol. well i have this shield and waisted about 33 badges but hey, this thing is uber!

Its nice to see that the boss fight that requires a skilled tank that knows what he's doing has good drops for him. Between stance dancing through fear, picking up as many skellys as possible and moving nightbane around to avoid killing the group its good to see them get rewarded for thier hard work. Unlike moroes and hunters getting zilch for thier trapping.

This shield was GIVEN (yes they just gave it to me no one else needed it) to me on my last kara run and im a prot war .. its a nice shield but the problem is that less than a week befor now i got the glad wall cuz it kicked the crap out o my Blue PoS shield. now i got a hard time deciding wich to use ..
comes down to 325 armor 12 stam Vs 21 block value 22 def rating.
if someone could list any pro's and con's of each that would be helpfull

I'll admit that Warriors have become a 3rd class rate to Tankdains/Druids because of their great quick agro building & mutiple mob control abilities ... but to say that Warriors are HORRIBLE tanks for Kara is a joke. I've MT cleared the whole place in under 5 hours.

On the loot side note; took 14 Nightbane kills and watching that pally batman shield drop 4 times before this friggign thing dropped ... that's about 4 months. Keep up the faith u guys.

This Shield and even the Gruul-Drop has been rendered useless by 2.4 and the Faction-Rewards. (regretably, considering how happy i was when I got it) Thogh it helps of course if you got it till you are Exhalted with Sunwell.

I am relieved, that the Amani Shield is still better than those new ones, since I got it recently.
