According to the item values on the EJ forums (http://elitistjerks.com/f76/t36972-redcape_s_retribution_dps_calculator/#post979830) this is a slightly better DPS item for a Ret paladin than the titansteel destroyer https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=41257 !

This thing is unbelievable for a DK tank. Put a 21 stam gem in there and that's 1260 hp, plus insanely slow speed for immense Oblits / Rune Strikes.

Great weapon for a Retadin with JC and doesnt have or want to farm for Titansteel Destroyer

Simply socket it with a +27 STR Gem (JC Only)

You dont get as much STR but you will get ~3.5% Crit which would be geat for replacing the hit rating if you already hit the cap

I just ran HoS with a guildy (Holy pally) and me, a DK. We get to the boss, kill him first time no prob, and i see this drop. The top end was amaizing so i needed asap, and then i saw that the pally rolled need too. Sure enough he won, and said he only came for this item -.-

One of the best pre-raid tank or dps weapons for a death knight. The large amount of stam, and a stam or defence gem in the socket can make this a great tank weapon, or a simple strength gem for a nice amount of strength and crit for a dps.

A great weapon for a death knight who changes specs fairly often.

According to wowhead item comparison this is better for Titans Grip than the skull-clad cleaver off of Loken in heroic halls of lightning.

This weapon can be better than most 10 man naxx Epics just because of the socket and max damage output it gives.

Even so, I'm using this on my DK, rather than using the Skull-clad cleaver and other 2h drops in naxx.

The only way I'll replace this is when i pick up Death's Bite from Kel'thuzad =D

Higher damage range for threat, equal 105 stamina -- or more with gems -- a beautiful red socket, and no wasteful (for DK's) haste rating make this the ideal weapon for Death Knights wishing to not go maces (aka Titansteel Destroyer), in either a dps or tanking role. Considering how easy it is to hit 5%+ hit without the Destroyer, this makes the Crit Rating on the tuning fork even more alluring.

Won't find better until the axes off 10- and 25-person Kel'Thuzad, or very high arena ratings, as many epic 2handers have wasteful haste rating.

In addition to the excellent stats, the unique look of the sword turns heads. Fallen crusader enchant makes it look like a single ethereal blade at a distance. Only a shame that two don't drop at once, thankfully our enchants are free however when switching between pvp/pve dps and tanking.

The crafted tanking 2H weapons have been removed from 3.0.8 according to a blue post.

As a result, this weapon will probably be the best tanking 2Her for a DK, due to the stam and the socket, using a Thick King's Amber and the new defense rune in 3.0.8 (25 defense and +2% stamina).

As you upgrade from blue tanking gear to purple tanking drops, there's a tremendous loss of defense. Warriors have enough trouble keeping 540 defense, and it's far worse for Death Knights due to lack of a shield, lack of tanking stats on 2Hers, and lack of a ranged weapon.

got mine ninjaed by a hunter and the group said it was ok before he rolled wtf i'm a freaken death knight lol he said "that thing has a lot of crit" ok i'm using the same axe from amp of anguish quests that he is (another noob problem) he says he wants it for the crit and stam lol i do too plus i wanna use for strenght he still beats me by 7 roll pts

2 weeks later he psts me cuz i'm in a group in the queue for COS heroic

he says "hey need a hunter dps"

i say "not you but yes we do need dps"

he says why not me?

i say because you don't know your class stats and your dps is only at 1500 (may have improved by i doubt it)

he says my dps owns face i just hit 5,000 dps in naxx

i say ok then link any of ur naxx achievements he says no

i check him on armory his name is damoran he still has that sword his best gear is from 25 naxx

i have never seenover 4000 dps in 25 naxx on trash i did see 3970 but not 5000 no way

For a Ret Pally or Blood DK, this weapon is sex on a stick....easily the best weapon they can get until Death's Bite....not quite as good for Unholy DK's...but they'll like it as well.

It would be great for Arms Warriors as well, except that Sword Spec is broken right now....for that reason alone, both The Colossal Skull Clad Cleaver and the Wraith Spear are better options for them.

For Fury warriors though, this weapon isn't all that great. Weapon speed is not a terribly important stat for us. Bloodthirst is unaffected by it, and WW is normalized. Slam procs WILL hit very hard with this weapon, but that's not enough to make this weapon an optimal choice for us. The relatively poor dps will hurt our white dmg, more than the top end damage would help our special atttacks.

The Runeblade of Demonstable Power, Colossal Skullclad Cleaver, and Titansteel Destroyer are all better for Fury Warriors.

If I saw this drop, I would pass to a Ret pally or DK without hesitation...this weapon is MUCH better for them.

My response will be that if the sword is "overpowered" for a DK tank, then the tank should take it. Even if Bullshifter is right and DKs now have tools to help them tank better and get more defense, that doesn't mean that you deprive them of a good tanking weapon. Tanks or healers > DPS for priority in getting overlap gear, not because DPS are unimportant but because their gear is usually less specialised and allows far more leeway. Any single DPS (of the three in a five man or more in a raid) is only sometimes helping to keep the group alive, as opposed to tanks and healers, who always help keep the group alive. Why on earth would you want to nerf your own tank?

PS: I'm an ex-tank, current retadin, if anyone wants to cry foul.

After the changes to the way paladins do damage in 3.1 the Sword of Justice is no longer higher dps than Tintansteel Destroyer or Collosol Skull Clad Cleaver since most of our dmg now comes from seals.

This is the best pre naxx 2h weapon for DKs mostly Because the Base weapon dmg is higher than any other weapon for heroics and DK abilities are based off Weapon dmg.

This sword is it. The last vestige of 3.8 swing speed on ANY 2h Sword, Axe, Mace, Polearm, or even STAVE! THERE IS NO OTHER. The next highest swing speed at or above ilvl 200 is the Wraith Spear at 3.7 weapon speed, or Shadow's Edge/Shadowmourne at 3.7 as well.

Go ahead, look for ANY 2h weapon at or above ilvl 200. You want slow? This is the last slow you'll see.
