Northrend is going to be amazing, and death knights alone are a work of art. I was thinking about taking my shaman to Northrend but from what I've seen I am rolling a DK. Now all I have to do is convince my guild we need a DK for endgame raiding lol...

Oddly enough, the other quest reward is a two-handed axe. The designers never mentioned axes as Death Knight weapons.

A very nice weapon for Death Knights it has an awsome design and good stats for a lvl55+ character. I think i will pick this weapon for my Death Knight when the expasion comes out.

The question I have is... is this (or the axe) the hands down best weapon for a DK till the ring of blood in outlands?

Or would something like https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=19169 (nightfall) be better with it's higher DPS and chance to boost spell damage.

(or would a boost to spell damage taken increase disease damge?)

Anyways. it's a thought.

I'll definitely be taking this over the Axe because of the human racial towards Swords/Maces.
And like a poster above me, this sword will NEVER be deleted from my bags along with the original DK gear

I believe it can be enchanted but Rune Forging and enchants do not stack. If you enchant it, you wont be able to runeforge it. Though, I guess after you outlevel it, you could go with whatever you think look coolest.

I think this weapon deserve a lore :) ,because of it's realy good design ,and atm i don't see any other runesword exept the Corrupted Ashbrigner and this one so i made a macro for it that will make it feel epic not blue quest item :) when i equip it .
If eny1 likes role play and will save this to be his "look at me i am sexy with my runeblade" i made myself with some help on wow forums a great macro that will equip this sword and play one of the 12 sound that Corrupted Ahsbringer plays :
/equip Greatsword of the Ebon Blade
/run local r = random(12) if r < 10 then r = "0"..r end PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Ashbringer\\ASH_SPEAK_"..r..".wav")

Did not see a comparison of weapons with similar stats so made one. Here are the weapons that have +strength +stamina and +hit. All are available from quests. Hope this is helpful!

For those DK's that might miss wielding this AWESOME-looking sword... you may yet wield an item with the same model at level 80.

In the 3.0.8 PTR, they added Titansteel Deflector, a 2H tank-sword that is apparently specifically designed for DKs.

(And possibly Titan's Grip Warriors planning to offtank with a 2H tank weapon + Shield... or crazy enough to Dual-Wield these. >_>)

EDIT: Removed before going live. Apparently they didn't want an items screaming "DK Tank" weapon. Course, they could've considered making TG warrior Offtanks viable no? Naaaahhh....

Two of the Ebon Blade reps down at the Argent tournament are wielding blades like these - the only difference is that the runes are purple. One wonders why we can't get these ourselves :)

EDIT: And then there's the Ebon Blade Initiates in Shadow Vault, who have versions with red runes >_>

I have this on my char, it has pretty nice dps, awsome to show off with. I always have it on me. I've even had a couple people ask me where i got it. I think most people should make a DK. ( just because of the good looks)

Its a really awesome weapon but its a shame blizzard never lets us have a level 80 version of it, and they keep teasing us too, first in 3.0.8 then in 3.2 ptr as a bs plan, but no they will never let us have it <_<

I say no its a good model but bad stats youll probally get rage reaver from that easy quest or hellreaver or warsong howling axe or hatebringer and those wore my 3 weps for three levels, in other words i had 1wep for level lol.

This sword is perfect for a death knight. It has a very good DPS + strengh+ stamina and that makes it a perfect tanking combo.

Also it has an AWESOME look.
