Any-dang-way...

Basically, when you go in the Frostmourne Cave to grab this as part of the Shadowmourne chain, the Lich King shows up and taunts you that you really thought it would be that easy, fills the cave (seriously, theres TONNES of them packed in) with weak zombies (not CoS weak, but weaker than basic NR mobs) and a shielded, elite Vrykul in the middle who will resummon any dead zombies. Light's Vengeance will be thrown to the side, and it takes 8 seconds to loot it - WITHOUT BEING HIT. Use whatever tricks you can - bubble, AotD, whatever, to keep the zombies away from you while you loot it. After this, it flys up in a big bubble of light and flys around the room, spitting balls of light to smash the zombies, before finally nuking the Vrykul and dropping down. Now loot it and claim your prize!...

Or not. 10 seconds ago was merely a setback, and the Vrykul comes back as an elite skeleton! Hes not really all that tough to be honest, if you're in the position to get this weapon you can kill him - just don't pick up that hammer with 100hp left or you'll scream! After this, there is FINALLY nothing left and you can claim your prize :D

ok so my question leads like this... will this be a questitem like every other quest items?
only those who have the quest will see/be able to loot this?
If not i will see alot of raid leaders help thire guilides over pugs etc.
If only the questholder with the current quest can see these items then its "easy peasy japaneeasy"

I just soloed this quest on my dk. It is very easy to do, I just ran in popped army gathered up all of the ghouls laid a Death and Decay on the ground and all of the ghouls died fairly quickly. The zombies attacking you have about 3000 health. When you click on the hammer it will fly up into the air and kill all of the zombies summoned by the Lich King. After that is done you click the hammer one more time and it punts you backwards, you have to fight an elite zombie who has 136k health but hits about 214 on my character who has about 15k armor. After you kill the mini boss you can loot the hammer and you are done. The only thing left is to wait for blizzard to unlock the rest of ICC and get 25 Primordial Saronite......sounds fun.

They should have really given Arthas' hammer stats and such so you can equip it till you get Shadow's Edge.

After obtaining Friendly status with The Ashen Verdict, Darion Mograine inside Ice Crown Citadel instance near the entrance will have a quest available to you: The Sacred and the Corrupt.

To obtain the first item of the quest: Light's Vengeance

1. Fly to 74, 23 Dragonblight.

2. As you walk in and near Arthas' hammer, you will be Chain of Iced and the Lich King will appear, giving a speech while throwing his hammer to the side of the cave.

3. End of his speech he will summon a large number of weak ghouls. Not all of them will aggro unless you get close.

4. Make your way towards the hammer while killing the ghouls.

5. When you have clicked the hammer a bright floating ball appears which flies across the cave killing all ghouls.

6. The ball lands where the hammer was the first time and the hammer reappears.

7. Click it and you will be stunned and punted a few yards.

8. An elite zombie rises.

9. After killing it. Loot the quest item.

Doing this as a DK without using any cooldowns, i was at 75% after the ghouls died and 40% after killing the elite.

The mobs must've gotten nerfed in the past few days, then. I just did this as a fury warrior, and the mobs had ~3400 health, the item itself only took about half a second to activate, and the elite mob only had ~130k health.

WOW lol! i got down to 235 hp wen i killed the elite, im a blood dk who alredy used his ghoul to death pact some health and i almost needed to get a new pair of pants.

The Battle was really laggy by me =/ first time i failed, but second try i succeded ^^ as Protection Pala it isnt really a hard fight it just takes some time so be patient and dont rush ;)

*Edit my hp was around 12-16k all the time with Seal of Light on, and mana regain from BoS :)

solo'd by a geared fury warrior...wasn't the easiest of things i've solo'd. popped a helath potion and enraged regeneration, killed the guy with about 1k HP left over.

Just soloed this on my prot pala with one hand busy munching on chips.....not hard just make sure you have all your cooldowns ready, you'll need them.

Although this should be soloable, if you have trouble with it you cannot rely on any party member or random to help you out with it UNLESS they are

a) also on the quest
b) do not already have the hammer in their inventory/bank

If they are not on the quest then they will be phased differently and cannot aid you.

Soloed as ret pally.
Use sacred shield and bash him when u get art of war use flash of light hope for crit and continue with that

it no longer takes 8 sec to pick it up, i just head to the spot where hammer landed, pop up my army of the dead when i got there, loot it in less than 2 sec, killed the elite in less then 1 min, thats all.
another advice, dont bother to kill the ghouls, the elite will revive them, just go where the hammer is and try to right click it if you dont have an ability like army of the dead.

Just a heads up - this item will disappear from your inventory over time. I picked it up after initially getting the quest. Went to get it from my bank pre-raid last night and poof - gone. So, unless you feel like doing it twice (admittedly, it's a very cool encounter, so I really didn't mind), you may want to hold off until you're ready to actually complete the quest after acquiring the other quest items.

First time I did it as a Prot Warrior and as the above posters have mentioned, it was cake. Last night did it in a rush as Fury... not so cake, but doable using frenzied regeneration or a health pot if necessary in the mob of zombies.

As an aside, for anyone with health issues after initially clicking it and polishing off the remaining zombies you CAN eat without interruption before clicking on it the second time to engage the elite.

I can only imagine the arguments on RP realms as to who used the "real" Light's Vengeance to make their Shadow's Edge. "You sir are a liar and a fraud! I am the mighty soldier who acquired the discarded hammer" then me "STFU noob".

sounds like any plate wearer who can clear enough of icc to get friendly should be able to one shot this (even if they have to resort to pots/cds, or getting fully raidbuffed) what i don't get though is why blizzard doesn't add a support quest to un-phase classes that can't pick the quest up so we can carry our noob friends / ppl who spam in trade to make a few g. if someone wants to buy their way to shadowmourne let them imo.
