This is the staff that drops off of The Madness of Deathwing encounter in the new Raid Finder.

I'm glad to see that Blizzard is starting to bring back some more interesting procs on weapons. If nothing else, this particular one will have an... interesting... effect on raid positioning.

The name of the LFR version of the proc is Slowing the Sands. The ICD appears to be 45 seconds, but there isn't any information yet on how buff stacks with itself.

While healers get a role bonus when rolling on this item, they should keep in mind that this weapon is lacking any Spirit or stats that can otherwise be reforged. If you're running virtually any lower-level weapon or weapon/off-hand combo, this is likely to put you at a deficit in your gear setup. The Maw of the Dragonlord, which has a very interesting healing proc, is definitely the optimal choice.

The staff dropped for me a few days ago and i did some testing with it. The friendly haste buff only procs on mana users. It works on enhance shamans, feral druids, and ret paladins. I tried with a warrior, dk and rogue in my group and they didn't get it. I'm assuming it's the same for hunters.

As a part of the on-going evaluation of Looking For Raid and the loot system, we have recently implemented a change to the Looking For Raid Need Plus system. Weapons, trinkets, rings, neck pieces, shields, offhand items, and the Robe of Glowing Stone are now class-restricted to their intended users. With the speed at which a Raid Finder group moves through a zone, we’ve found that it makes it challenging for players to evaluate loot decisions – by class restricting these items, we hope that the natural behavior will have a more positive set of results for everyone involved. This change will not apply to normal or heroic raid or dungeon loot rules.

Received this today on my warlock alt in LFR. Was pretty excited to have won it, was replacing Stalk of Corruption. After doing some testing I was a bit disappointed. Actually I was very disappointed.

The ICD is about right at 45 seconds with it having about a 15% chance to Proc. Problem is this staff only has spell power on it outside of the proc. I noticed a very large dps decrease using this staff on the target dummy and in back to back Heroic HoT runs.

Perhaps my luck was simply bad but I went as long as 2 minutes or more with no proc, only to have it last for 10 seconds then get stuck back on a 45 second ICD. The proc is not something you can really rely upon to proc repeatably. Though it is nice it may not be as good as a staff with straight haste attached to it instead. Also I have yet to run another raid since receiving it where fights lasts much longer then they do in a heroic 5 man. (Though I did test it for a very long time on the dummy, much longer then any raid boss encounter currently in place.)

Not trying to bash the item, just wanted to throw out my experience with it in case anyone else was looking for the information. Im not a number grinder so please dont expect me to post math on the subject ><. In either case if your trying for the staff, wish you the best of luck.

I got this staff today and tested with it, I think it procs 5-10% and with the 45 second cooldown. It is like a trinket that auto-procs - and can't be used on demand and cannot be relied upon. For example it might be useful to a holy priest spam-casting prayer of healing during intense situations. However, as it procs randomly it is of much less use, I'd say of no use. I think it is better suited to a DPS class like shadow priest or mage that usually cast continuously and any extra benefit from haste helps their DPS overall - in other words a 10 second haste increase of 1750 every 60 seconds is like a static haste of 300.

Proc provides static:
378.6 haste for you
75.8 static haste for the each of the 3 people

Overall this is 606 static haste for your raid group as a whole

Just Got this staff There now :) Really Like It , Has an Epic Look and Very Nice Stats :D

This staff can not be reforged so if you are really looking forward to this staff and you disappointed by the lack of secondary stats then be ready to reforge your other items to build up that hit cap or whatever you have planned because this staff might have more spell power and intel added to it you are truely losing a lot. I found it hard trying to replace my Spire of Scarlet Pain with Power Torrent attached.

This is quite a good looking staff I must say.

This can drop twice in one kill if anyone was wondering, however you cannot loot it twice, as if you win a need roll, your other roll is discounted.

I´ve noticed something strange, the proc of Slowing the Sands can occur as a result of switching specs. So yeah... I don´t know why would I want haste after switching specs... *shrug*

Can anyone explain to me why bear druids get a roll bonus on an int staff? I get that cats can roll on it because it's flagged as DPS but why in the world do bears? My friend and I have both lost one this way.
