The price on these swings rapidly. One week, you can farm 10 of them and sell them for 200g, the next week, you farm 10 and you sell them for 50g.

Farming these, as of the latest patch (2.0.12), is a pain. Either the drop rate has been dramatically decreased below Wowhead's ~18.9% drop rate or I am just unlucky. It took me 60 kills to get 1 stone and the elites that drop it are not a common mob that can be easily farmed back to back.

I'd just like to share that farming 8 of these for my dodge enchant as a lvl 70 prot warrior took me 74 minutes (timed). So have fun! >_<

I just farmed up 8 of these for the dodge enchant for my warrior and experienced a 21.8% drop rate which only differs by ~3% so I'd say the rate hasn't been changed, you just experiencing a streak of "bad luck."

I can solo with no problem..

I have a 60 hunter on silvermoon..

Don't have beastalker or anything, best item is gorewood lol..just feign death if I cause too much aggro, heal my pet and pwn him.. Frost trap behind you if ya get into trouble..and Bandage..

Depends on the battle but I usually don't even let him kill my pet.. But if he gets down to like 15% life w/ my pet killed I can melee solo..

Got my cloak yesterday. These are piss easy as a druid. I am resto but I have a full feral set for soloing. Strategy: starfire, then root, then moonfire, starfire, root again, moonfire, faerie fire (bah, I know), dire bear (at 9k armour and 5k hp with my feral set), dem. roar, leave the rage for frenzied regen. If I get low on health bash, caster form, nature's swiftness, rank 10 healing touch, back to bear. Estimated time: 2 minutes tops. I am actually now farming these for muni and drops (stones sell good, cash drop is nice, even got an eternium lockbox a couple of days ago). And I can get my herbs while I look for these bastards. :D

Based on the comments by other Hunters, some about kiting, silly things like Wing Clip, excessive use of Auto Shot, blah blah, I think the way I kill these things takes a little over thirty seconds, and leaves me usually at full Health with my Pet at about 25%. First, find one, now move in back of it so that it's walking away from you, lay a Freezing Trap, then Aimed Shot just a moment before it gets out of range, as soon as the Shot hits follow it up with a Concussive Shot, then Multi-Shot, then Auto Shot until it gets too close, if you time it right, you can usually get off an Arcane Shot before it closes in on you. Now back away, and let it get caught in your Freezing Trap. Now, run backwards to Max Range, and repeat the steps, Aimed Shot, Concussive Shot, Multi-Shot, Auto Shot then Arcane Shot, except this time, after your Aimed Shot, send your Pet to attack. Now when the Guardian gets close, give it a Raptor Strike then Feign Death. It should now be on your Pet. Now back up to any Range, and begin Auto Shot and spamming your other Shots, usually it's down to about 40% by the time it even gets to attack me. If you see your Pet getting low on Health, call it back and use a Concussive Shot then finish the Guardian off at melee. Again, this whole process takes about 30-40 seconds once you get it down, and leaves you at very little risk. Happy Hunting

I'm just a 59 fire spec mage and can solo these in less than a min. Just frost nova them and run like hell with blink and cone of cold and other slowing moves until the cooldown on frost nova ends so u can freeze em then bomb them again. If things get outta hand just use a mana ruby, throw up your mana shield, and blink away. They seem to have a very slow move speed so its easy to play keep-away with them.

Ok this is based on an above poster so credit there.

I decided to check out the Curse of Doom / Banish strategy and as of patch 1.8 it works.

so here goes:
You need vw - just for comfort.

Send your vw at the guardian
Cast curse of doom
Cast banish (Rank 2) by calculation you can look at the cooldown for Curse of doom and figure when banish expires. Keep your vw tanking.
When first banish expires cast Banish (Rank 1) ASAP.
Keep your distane, let vw tank and enjoy the guardian loosing more than 33% of it's health i one hit a few secs after the second banish wears off. At this point just redo until it's dead. should take 3 banishes and no sweat. you can heal the vw if needed while the guardian is banished.

Another note: if fighting one guardian, and another passes by, it does not aggro. good to know there's no reason to run or panic :D

2 kills so far no stone - i'll go on - guess i can make a fortune on ah xD

Edit: small update now up to 15 kills, 3 stones seems the droprate at around 20% - 1 pr 5 kills is correct. also had a thorium lockbox and a travelers backpack drop from these guys :)

Everyone brags around about how easy they find these mobs to kill, well if thottbot where a forum for kill tactics you whould be at the right place, but it isn't.

For everyone elso who doesn't know how to find these guys: they are in Un'Goro Crater, they are lvl 60-61 Elite, neutral to everyone and can be found almost everywhere in the crater. Not very hard to spot, 'cause they're the only golems in Un'Goro.

i solo these guys all the time. I take all the damage up front in bear form. idk i couldnt stand rooting, dotting, and starfire strategy. i go until i have 1/4 health, enrage and frenzied regen. when thats done i wait til i have a little health left and bash. during bash, i root em in place and heal and the go back to bear formin em. if they resist bash, i activate natures grasp adn hes instantly rooted so i can heal. these guys are the eziest

Its a bit hard for a rogue but if your combat here the steps

1) start with cheap shot
2) as soon you land cheap shot use adrenaline rush
3) as you gain combo points use kindy shot 5 combo point expose armor 5 combo or 4
4) When adrenaline rush ends take a hit or 2 and use evasion after that use some evis and you should be fine

This is for sword rogue only combat spec

I'm a disc/holy priest and solo these buggers with 2-3 epic items/armors...
ALWAYS start ur fights buffed up..( prob already new that :D)

1. Shield urself and wait until 5 sec is left on the debuff.
2. Begin with holy fire at maximum distance.
3. SW:Pain directly after 1st spell is cast so u save casting time...
4. Mind Blast (7 sec cd).
5. Spam Smite.
6. When 1st shield is down.. cast a new one.
7. Keep Smiting/Mind Blast when the 7 sec cd is up.
8. Cast Renew on urself when golem has hit u 2 times on the 2nd shield.
9. Smite even more...

Sometime after that he should be dead..
If ur an enchanter then u can make Lesser Wizard Oil and buff ur spell dmg a little..
If he ever would get ur life down below 1500Hp then flash heal. ( Dont waste mana on renew if u got 100% hp, and if u cast renew and shield u dont have to flash heal urself and therefor u save mana for attacks instead.)

I usually down them in less then a minute but then it consumes all my mana so bring lots of crystalwater.

Steps to kill as a shaman (at lvl 58)

1) Get the bg trinket for 20 less resistance on spell targets

2) Frostshock

3) Start running in a large arc

4) Frostshock

5) Continue the Arc

6) Frostshock

7) Make the arc into a circle

8) Frostshock

9) Start the arc over

10) Frostshock

11) Loot

kill them in under 2 minutes every time, and amazing XP

I�m protection warrior, I just tank them to death.
I have most MC gear, and use Heroism card and crusader.
Get demoralising and battle shout and 5 sunders, shield block every 6 secs and revenge whenever you can. Heroic strike whenever you get the rage to spare. Stay in defensive stance. I have more than 50% health at the end every time, and by the time I find the next I have full health again.

I killed em with my paladin holy/prot. Throw on a judgement of wisdom and seal of wisdom he'll be down in about 3-5 minutes.

Easy, go bear, fight until you're around 40%, bash, root, back off, heal to full, back to bear. should only have to do it once

as i'm still lvl 58 i use curse of exhaustion to kite them. everytime i get out of 30 yrds i stop and cast a SB. sometimes i'm lucky and get a nightfall proc, then jumpshotting them, etc, etc.

also gives me 1,5k XP per mob =)

oh, and today i already made 50g in 20 minutes. guardian stones and essences of earth sell for 10g each on EU-Die Arguswacht.

They are not hard to kill at all for a druid with decent gear. I just hit them with a starfire, go bear form, and fight head to head. I only have the Champion PVP gear. Usually don't even have to do a frenzied regen. I've only killed 5 so far and only 1 stone dropped, but I'm going to grind and the Cloak of Warding will be mine!

I kill these in like 15 seconds as frost mage. now its just as fast if not faster with the water elemental. frostbolt, frostbolt, fireblast, frost nova if not procc'd, coc (let him hit you if you have the elemental) and if not, blink and finish it off.

Im a 60 shaman, I dont think that it is very hard to kill these at all. If you are lvl 60 and cant kill these i feel bad for you.
My question is what do these usually sell for on the Horde AH

The Giants are pretty easy to kill as a Warlock if you are affliction.

1. Immo + Unstable
2. CoEX
3. Corruption

Kite it around, and reapply whatever fades.
Much faster than Banish

Full T1 40/11/0 spec and I take these down without even healing. 30-40 seconds a kill, the hard part is finding enough of them. I do burn through 2/3 of my mana pool but taking down a 61 elite I guess I should expect that.

for feral druids, these guys can be easily soloed without using bear form or even the long and boring root, starfire spam trick. just go up behind them and slap on a regrowth spell. Switch to cat form, stealth, use pounce on him and follow it up with shred and then just dps him. If you have decent gear you should be able to take off at least 1/3 of his health before you have to switch out of cat form and cast heals on yourself. Once you have your heals on you, go back to cat form and you should be able to take him down easily from there. As a druid with average gear (full LT. commanders set from pvp) i can kill these guys in about a minute, which makes farming the stones pretty easy :)

On Ysondre, Guardian Stones auction for 6-10g, but it's rare to see more than one or two auctioned in a given week.

When hunting the Stone Guardians, I find that they follow a path that tends to run along the outer border of the crater or along the river.

i seem to remember that before TBC i farmed a stone at the very MINIMUM of 1-3 kills. Last night was the first time i tried to farm them since TBC and i musta killed like 10 with no stone drop and gave up disgusted. Another player told me he's had awful "luck" too. i'm thinking this drop rate was greatly nerfed. anyone else noticing this?

B) High price buyers.

IF YOU DO FARM:
These bad boys are about as hard to get ahold of as Large Brilliant Shards, and so their value should reflect it. I'm going for base 15-20g, but will try 30 and see what happens (esp since I'm using 8 of the 15). BE CAREFUL; these have a 60s deposit!

Given the respawn rate, it's a tough choice between doing the full loop back and forth or just going from the Tanaris side up near the Volcano then back again. I'd say the latter, especially if you're preoccupied/slow mount.

My priest friend (shadow specced) can kill them in 30 seconds

My demonology warlock can kill them if using my VW to tank, I dot, SBSBSBSB, banish after pulling aggro and getting hit a few times, bandage up and more SB. Takes 60 seconds and a shard.

I can solo these dudes within 30 sec. with my hunter 60. Got 2 epics and full blue from Dire Maul. Just put Aspect of the Cheetah on, put a fire trap and mark it. Aimed Shot, Multishot and Concussive Shot. repeat it till its down :) Less then 30 sec and its dead. Only pretty ^&*!ed up that its immune to serpent sting :@

As feral drood, tanking outfit, on one fight when i was fighting one, at about 75% of his HP his brother decided to respawn and join the fight. I had to bash and heal once :D.

Seriously, I just bear it up charge in pound at it till I have full rage, hit frenzied regeneration. on the 62's I sometimes had trouble (back when my armor was 6k) so I'd pop hit nature's grasp while backing up, let it root heal then back to bear.

Now with 13k armor I don't even use frenzied regeneration anymore. got 9 stones in 2 hrs.

I farmed this with my hunter in a wedding dress and I can kill them without my pet or me taking any damage. Have Aspect of the Pack/Cheetah on, turn off you pet growl, and just start kiting these. You can't use Serpent Sting on these but they move so slow that you can stop, quickly turn around to fire a shot, then start running again. If you're having trouble kiting them, remember that Scatter Shot and Concussion Shot works so use them to give yourself some more breathing room.

Soloed three (60, 60, 61) of these guys on my 58 icemage today. Not too hard, I'll be killing them whenever I see them now. Might avoid the 61 until next level to close the resist gap (had to potion on the 61).

Got one Enchant formula (+9 Stam bracers) and two essence of earth. No stone dropped, though. Meh.

like they said above, for a druid it's starfire, root, DoT's, starfire root, starf...... you get the idea. I wear alot of epics, but not alot of then have any +damage damage... you just grind em down. I suggest using a rune of perfection on the 62s if you are friendly with warsong gulch.

Does damage me a lot, figure I have about 500-1000hp depending on how many crits I get and how many times they miss me. DW fury spec so they go down fast on the other hand ;) got 3 stones in a row at best.

I'm a 60 Resto Druid, so I guess I can only do it the pansy way. Starfire Rank 7 (from AQ20), root. Rinse and repeat. 3 stones on 4 kills.

i usually kill these naked with my mage... and by useing 1 lvl spells to save mana. That way i dont need to drink much water, it's saves lots of time.

Alright, so I've heard about hunters/shaman/rogues being able to solo these guys, but what about warriors? Could a 60 Fury warrior be able to take these guys down equiped with blues?

Well, I tried fighting these things as a new lvl 60 MS warrior with Ice Barbed Spear. Didn't work out so well. Had my rear end handed to me on a silver platter.

Due to some guild drama I dropped MS and became the MT. After getting multiple epics and a really good shield I decided to go back and try and kill one of these things. As a protection warrior these guys are a joke to fight. They hit me for an average of 160 - 200 damage per swing if and when they can hit me. My shield block absorbs 173 damage so half of their swings are completely blocked and do absolutely no damage.

I now farm these guys and they rarely get me below 70% HP before I kill them. It may take me all of 2 minutes to wear them down but if you're a protection warrior with enough +defense and a lot of +to shield block then fighting these guys is a complete joke. Same goes for the Devilsaurs. I kill those before I even hit 90% health.

If you get lucky with crit/miss, he will die immediately after CoD pops. Otherwise few SB's and Corr will do the work. After kill, you should be almost full mana and not being hit a single time. Just care about other monsters wandering around
