its well worth it. Engineering uses Essence of Undeath for the Death Ray gun, believe me, they buy easy 10gp each.

This is what you do with this recipe. Go to AH buy an essence of water for 14 gold transmute it (once every 24 hours only) and put it back on ah as undeath for 2gold.

I saw this recipe on sale a few times on blackrock for about 80gold, it stays there for a week until some moron accidently buys it thinking its undeath->water or the seller decided the vendor will probably give him his moneys worth :P

Moral of the story? THIS TRANSMUTE SUCKS!

In order to find Essences of Undeath, you need to form a group and go into Scholo, Strat or Dire Maul. Gathering Water Essences, on the other hand, can be easily done, solo.

THAT's why this recipe is useful, especially if you don't feel like forming up a group every time you need a few essences of undead.

Now, Essences of Air transmuted into anything else... I agree that that would be a worthless transmute.

Essence of Undeath max I have got 2 in 1 raid and seen some 4 drops in raid but Water can get 10essence in 2 hours and undeath essence is wery needed if you want get Unholy or lifestealing enchants

...you could sell one Essence of Water on the AH and buy 5-10 Essence of Undeath.

The only reason I could see anyone wanting this is because he/she collects recipes. I couldn't imagine a sane person actually using this.

Keep in mind that the economies are different on different servers. For instance, the going rate on Essences of Water on Steamwheedle Cartel is 7-9 Gold and the average for Essences of Undeath is around 5-7g. However, try actually getting someone to buy those Essences of Water. They don't exactly fly off the shelves. I have 12 in my bank that haven't sold. Now I need Essences of Undeath for my Robe of the Void, and I could either go in a group to get a couple or I could farm Essence of Water and get 10 or more in a few hours. Transmute them and I have all the essences I need in short order.

Yea, I also have to pull the different economies card. On my server, the prices are the same for water, about 10g, and you can generally find one or two on the AH, but the price of Undeaths is usually between 20g and 30g, and they are almost never on the AH.

Several of my guildmates are currently in the process of trying to farm one of these recipes so that we don't have to spend an hour trying to find one undeath that we have to pay 25g for.

Since TBC, no one runs Strat or Scholo so there's rarely any EoUs on AH, and they're always at least 15g on my server. This transmute looks intriguing...

I think many of u are mistaking ESSENCE of UD for ICHOR of UD. The essence is a rare drop in Strat or Strath, while the ichor is a very common drop from mobs. On my server (khaz modan) essence of water is selling for less than 5G, while the Essence of Undeath is around 10G. This recipe is great in my case. Water is way easier to get/cheaper to buy, then Xmute and cha-ching - or lifesteal your heart out.

Essence of undeath is currently going for 2-3G on Nordrassil, while essence of water is going for 1G each... It's all a matter of economical values on different worlds... Some worlds will use different essences more.

now that the debate of witch one sells the most water or undead... id like to know where this drops the most... I dont feel like killing a boss for this XD like do people have better luck getting this out of a chest in SM? or is this like a world drop kinda thing?

I just picked up this recipe and bought 30 essence of water for about 37s each. They're dirt cheap on my server. Essence of UD goes for 12g+ each so this is an easy bit of gold or great for saving up mats for Lifestealing.

Yeah - om Mok'Nathal A. Undeath goes for 12G - Water for 50s - it all depends on the server. I have Lifestealing enchant in my arsenal and can't even use it since mats are so expensive

There is no point putting anything more on this thread. All you have to do is use COMMON SENSE. Check YOUR server; If Water is cheap and undeath expensive, the recipe has value. If not, it doesn't. These "My server is this way and it's not worth it" are going to look stupid when another patch completely changes the way your server's economy handles these items, aren't they?

(Undeath price)-(water price)*30(# you can transmute monthly)=monthly profit. If this is a negative number, don't buy recipe. If you like this number as gold profit in your pocket on monthly basis, buy recipe.

Now, THAT is a useful Thottbot post for members of ALL servers and won't change no matter what Blizzard Entertainment does to the game.

Running Sholo or Strat isnt done that mutch now...and going in for like 2 hours and maybe roll on a EoU (i always seem very unlucky with roll's) and very likely comeback emptyhanded isnt something i aways enjoy,...

So farming the water and transmute it...its a way to go...you could also go questing in OL and make some money and buy th EoU..but making it my self seems mutch more ok than just buy it...

never seen the recipe in AH though (dont look there all the time i have to say)

Got it of the trade channel for 10G this morning. Lucky it was early on our server. I was so happy I gave him 11G. Thank God he did not check the web for prices, or the AH for the pricing on each essence. I stand to make 9.25G on each one, if sold. But better yet, I can now enchant my own weapons with lifestealing and not have to pay 60G for the EoU. Pay to be lucky.

I bouth this for 100g, I think it's worth it because eow's sell for about 30s and eoud's sell for up to 10g each, but i have been making money off arcanite transmutes too and I just realized that this transmute shares the cooldown with others that use the philosopher's stone! gads. So now I have to pick arcanite or undeath each time. Oh well. =)

I would realy like this recipe... is this farmable or just a random drop? I know the drop rate sucks and all just woundering if it droped off anything more than reguler... everysince burning crusade essence of water has droped and essence of undeath sky rockets due to the fact no one wants to do scholo or strat... they would rather hury up and get to outlands for better gear.. btw essence of undeath dos not suck because you need it for lifestealing.

ON my server (drenden) waters go for about 1.5g max.undeath on the other hand are around 9-12g each.so on my server this is totaly worth it

Essence of Undeath sells for 15G on my server and I have never seen this recipe drop anywhere. Anyone have any recent information on where to get this recipe? I want to use this to do Life Stealing Enchants but dont want to pay 15G for the undeath.

Just got it and guildmate said he wants me to save that for his friend... but i checked AH there was nothing there so i think that recipe might cost 50g because of it's rare, not because of it's use =) Will check that soon =)

OK lets explain here Naraxx = undead + argent dawn.... 1.11 has more AD stuff = AD REP is found inside strat and scholo where essence of undeath drops... Undeathe will most likely be used for an undead slaying enchant or some othe AD enchant making it not so useless and making prices sky rocket to an insane pt. Much like nature resist and how chealp it used to be I think most of you who posted here will be in for a shock when this costs 900g.

here is the thing...if you want to be a Jewelcrafter...to cut gems for End Game Gear, Etc,,,you need Essence of Undeath to get up near the 300lvl....and, if I could find the damn recipe...I'd make a fortune through my mage.alchy friend

THis recipe is totally worthless on my server atleast. Essence of Undeath sell for about 1g, essence of Water sell for about 9g. Anyone who would waste a transmute just to LOSE 8g is a moron.

Why does this transmute sell for upwards of 50G, when undeath sells for just 1G in comparison to water selling for 10G?

Is that not a wasted transmute? Lowering the value of the reagants by 9G? Or am I missing something?

I tried selling it on Runetotem for 100g. Immediately got flamed for it. They said it was only worth 1g max since the undead essence only is 1-2g's. So what did I do, I but it AH for 40g bid. No-one has taken the bait yet, so might lower the price even further. Like down to about 5-10g.
