There is only one mob to get this pattern from, the Anvilrage Captains in BRD. There are only ever 2 or 3 per instance and they are located at the very end of the instance in the Emperor's Seat. As such it is a very rare and expensive pattern.

Dropped today from one of the mobs who spawn during "Jail Break!" quest. I forgot the name of the mob but I have uploaded the data through wowhead client and it should be up soon.

I was helping two friends doing the "Jail Break!" quest and luckily no one else in the group was LW. When it dropped I was like "WTF" I don't have to go through the whole BRD and keep hoping it will drop from the captain at the very end. Now I can make the full set, Finally !!

I kept this pattern for 3 weeks waiting for someone else to put it up so I could get a good idea of what it's worth...when nothing showed up, I put it in for 50g bid with no buy out...ended up selling it for 420g...Not sure if it's worth that much, but that's what I got...on Zul'Jin

These characters spawn on the escort as mentioned above but also in the area before the Emperor. So, if you're doing an emperor run you can kill a handful of captains along the way.

I may be wrong, but I lloked and in order to get the Marshal Winsor quest, you have to be Alliance. Which means, if your Horde you can't spawn the Captains needed to drop the pattern. can anyone tell me how a Horde either get's this quest or if Captains spawn from another quest, please?

I'm looking for this pattern, and I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for it. It's the only Black Dragonscale Pattern I don't currently have.

I'm Iethya, Night Elf Hunter, on Scarlet Crusade.

I also make the other pieces of Black Dragonscale inexpensively -- or FREE, if you bring me all the materials. I know it's a pain to get these materials, because I did for my own Black Dragonscale Breastplate and Shoulders, and it took me a while. ;)

According to the patch, several items in BRD will now drop more frequently. Does anybody know if this applies to the pattern for the Black Dragonscale Leggings? IF so, what percentages are we looking at? I've run BRD like 20 times and I can't get this thing to drop on me.

I'm on the ULdum Server, anybody who needs the rest of the set pieces i can make the Breastplate, Shoulders and Boots. The Boots are an epic item, for which mats cost up to 2400 gold. Hit me up if you want them made.

I done an emperor run today and couldnt help but notice there's only like 3 of the mobs that drop it.

You've gotta be kidding me... there can't be only 3 of these things if the drop rate is only 1%!

Anyone know a place to farm them?

it is not possible for 1 guy to farm captains its not even possible for 2 more than likely, Captains usually walk in the middle of 4 other mobs patrolling certain spots. The 4 mobs they are occompanied by are 2 medics and 2 soldiers usually. A medic is a priest and soldier is a warrior ontop of which the captain is a palladin if you were to compare them to ingame classes. Usually the only way to take them out is to kill the priests firsts as they heal everyone in there group the captain is capable of healing himself and the soldiers are easily blown away without the medic's healing them. However they are all runners and the captain can bubble himself like a pally so be very careful when fighting them. they also all hit pretty hard.

mages make this fight alot easier, aswell as hunters to viper sting the medics and take out runners.

largest population of Captains i know of is the area right before Bael'gar there is in upwards of 12 captains that patrol in the fashion i just mentioned.

Not hard to farm on a stealth run with a level 70 feral druid (solo) or 3-4 lvl 60 stealth run..takes approx 20 min to get to room with emporer if you don't farm shards. Unfortunately there are 1-6 anvilrage captains and im assuming its a random number. got my pattern on 3rd run but im sure that was lucky. First two tries there were only 1 and 2 anvilrage captains. Last try there were 6.

Pattern dropped today for my 53 hunter (1st run) off the captians near EMP. Farmed these guys over 20 times with a 70 rogue n no drop. The captians only spawn here in the throne room and during Jailbreak on the ally side. I'm on Bloodhoof name Squínt if you want these made for you. I have the shoulder, chest patterns and soon boot pattern.

I realize with TBC coming in about 24hrs, the value of these went down a bit, but i just bought this pattern on AH in Orgrimmar for 8g buyout..... can finally do the full set... WOOT!

i have run through BRD at least 15 times with a buddy and it hasnt dropped. I'm going out on a limb and say this is one of the rarest patterns in the game cuz very few ppl do BRD anymore, and even then PUGs rarely can make it past the lyceum. Only things i would mark as more rare are pre-BC raid only recipes. at least epic nether patterns drop more often cuz the mobs are killed far more often. A few captains spawn during the escort quest during onyxia attunement quest line, but unless someone is doing that you have a max of like 6 captains possible. The spawns for them can either be dragoons or the captains. I've never seen all captains, but have seen all dragoons before. The set spawns are all in the final room with the dark iron emperor, so at least if your group gets that far you have to kill them all to take out the final boss.

I do not understand what you are talking about, this pattern has a 2% drop chance from trash mobs in brd.. why dont you go get it? it has to drop eventually(even though i have never seen it)
