More then likely a reference to "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", a science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick and the inspiration to the movie Blade Runner.

The biggest let down of this pattern isn't the cost of the materials or the end result, it's that those two elements combined, when faced with an identical small pet (Wood Frog: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=11027) that only costs 1g, becomes something of a let down.

Mechanical Squirrels are not only unique as far as that model is concerend (at least with small pets), it's a unique texture as well. But for this, when the Darkmoon Faire was added, this rare pet effectively was replaceable by a far cheaper and otherwise identical one.

This pet is very uncommon, and before the Wood Frog was introduced it was the only frog availible as a minipet. It's quite sad Blizzard didn't keep it that way. Only comfort is it still has a unique name and background, and it goes into the collection of mechanical pets together with the yeti, squirrel, chicken, bombling and lil'smokey.

Seems like this item is a reference to "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. *!@#. The drop areas for the schematic sound like the area where the mechanical toad in the book was found, too. Kind of interested to see what it looks like when assembled.

That means it looks like any ol' toad you come across in the game.

Never read the book that this is based off of, but I'm guessing that the area the toad was found was a volcanic area. I see this schematic sell for 150g on Suramar server.

Found this Schematic in Blasted Lands, dropped of a lvl55 ogre in the middle of the map. Saw it on AH for 120g and thought it was a joke, so i put up mine for 75g buyout and almost fainted of surprise when it sold? Had to check here why anyone would pay this much. :)

can't even use it yet but just won it at AH for 3g60s :> the essence is easy to farm off the tar lords in ungoro btw :) ... can't wait toget my toad going :D

This usually goes for 50-80g on the Auction House. I was delighted to see it for 15g one day, and bought it without a second thought. I'm only engineering 241, but will make good use of it eventually. :)

I came across this in the AH. It was 1g bid, 6g buyout. For whatever dumb reason I just bid instead of BO. Two secs later I was outbid by someone that bought it. Only time I have seen it on the AH. Does anyone know where to farm for this thing? It's one of the only schematics I don't have. I am willing to buy it on Terenas. My Alliance banker is boonsmash, and my horde banker is booninc. Send me a tell or a letter and we'll figure out the price. I will pay a lot of gold for it.

Should be epic, rare as it is.

The t oad, however, is great. I love it, mostly because its extremely rare (since its costly), and it is ... well, a TOAD! your own private squiggly, croaking toad! :D
