Would this be available by a druid with a one-hand weapon? like dual-wield. It is an off-hand item so why shouldn't it be possible :) ? It could be nice in Moonkin form (Melee attacks have a chance on it to regenerate mana based on attack power).

Wouldn't even recommend this for a fury warrior. The proc is quite nice, but the speed is decidedly mediocre. Faster weapons will let you level off your rage generation, but your whirlwind damage will suffer from such a low damage range.

I am currently level 46 combat swords spec, and I actually have gotten very lucky with drops and rolls and have both https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=17738 and https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=9379. I am using Thrash Blade (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=17705) in my main hand, and I have been trying to figure out which of these is a better offhand . The poison proc is nice but since most fights don't last 20 seconds you don't get the full effect. The sword is faster but I am not sure if the chance of an extra swing offsets the 50 or so damage from the poison proc on the claw.

Any advice?

For a combat swords rogue, parry rating also means a higher chance of being able to use riposte.

And that in itself will speed up your levelling process, the longer melee enemies stay disarmed, the less damage they do, and the lower your downtime between killing is.

I just ran mara, purple and orange meet in that big room and it doesn't matter which you do, you can still get to this guy. I also find that this weapon doesn't proc very much, is anyone else experiencing this?

I too experience the lack of weapon proc. I have a fury war on Daggerspine, it probobly procs one time per 2-3 other mobs when I'm solo'ing. It'll proc on a boss of course, but only cause your hitting it soo much. Its a decent item, nothing great, or impressive, just fun when it procs while I have rend and deep wounds going with flurry. If your a smith u can add a weight stone to it since its a fist weapon it counts as impact / blunt, that'll up its damage for about 30min worth. Going for it with my rogue just for fun. It doesn't hit hard, but it hits often so its only good depending on your spec, and style of play. My usual off-hand is still Vanquisher's Sword when I go BG.

Things normally proc when they hit faster/more frequently, and considering this is an offhand weapon that's got 1.8 speed, it's kinda slow for an offhander (for Rogues anyways).

I normally prefer a fast offhander that I put deadly poison on so that I can have either Mindnumbing or Cripling poison on the main and the stacking poison on the offhand.... but the stacking poison only really becomes well-used if the offhand weapon's fast.

Same theory here. And I must admit, this kinda is a slow weapon considering where it goes....

But hey, wear it for a level or two and pretend you're Wolverine or something. Then you can shard it or vendor-trash it for 3g and some change.

Yeah, I have to agree, the entrance sections (Purple, Orange) are intended for those in their mid 40s, but you really need a few 50s to get through the Princess section, It's just too hard to do wihout em. I'm a level 50 rogue, and I have this weapon. I like the proc, although it makes gouge/backstab difficult. I've done Celebras twice, most of the time we skip him, but when i killed him on the second time i did, this dropped. It's a nice rogue wep to replace the black menace until BS, so any rogues that are into DPS should try and grab it.

drops off orange. i have thrash blade i think it is better. i just look at thew DPS =P i mean does tit matter that much

just so it's been said...

icy enchant sucks on this, it hardly ever procs unless you're fighting stuff really much lower than you. spent 4 hours winding around Mara with not a single proc of icy on this, and believe me, i looked.

only when i afterwards boosted a guildie's alt through SFK did it procc! (combat rogue, 15,40% crit chance and +10 fist skill blahblahblah)

you've been warned, go for fiery, proccs like every 5th second or so on main hand it seems. :P changing as soon as i get the chance.

that's my 2 copper...

About the Proc it procs alot on some battles one of my battles it proced Six times but im a rogue and i attack fast with my Pvp dagger in main hand it proced about 5 times on one of the golems in Searing gorge but it took me awhile to kill it because i was getting up skill maybe that was why O.o But i i say rogues should really get this weapon its really fun.

Well i like it and i hope everyone else does too =)

I'm a rogue and I definately have my eye on this... The thing is though. Vanquisher's Sword is atleast slightly considerable still at this lvl. I've come to the conclusion that If i got this, i would get a nice Attack power enchant to it so i didn't feel an empty void inside... hehe. The way I see it, at lvl 47, armor peices could suffice for the loss. 4.4 More DPS is good :) plus it's .40 per second better for poisons... And looks bad ass. Admit it, you've all looked in AH at the $%^&ty fist weapons and thought. "If only there was a GOOD version of that one." Here's your chance.

First fist weapon that can actually compete with other things you could have at the current lvl, at least for rogues. Correct me if I'm wrong.

One day I had a failed attempt at a Maraudon run, but we killed Celebras and i got this. Up until then I had been using Vanquishers sword for my offhand. Sure this weapon has 4.4 more dps, but once you put it on your offhand, it's less than 2.2 more while your main hand loses roughly 2 dps thanks to the 28 atk power missing. The Atk power easily makes up for the lower dps in offhand. In ranged attacks as well but no melee class should ever let ranged damage be a factor.

So in conclusion, Vanquisher's Sword is a more efficient offhand. I think the next step up that can possibly be a good arguement is Thrash Blade. And you could have it by the time you have the claw anyways, but that's a different issue.

RARE DROP BUT EASIEST WAY TO GET THERE AND THE FASTEST WAY IS THROUGH THE ORANGE SIDE! BECAUSE ORANGE SIDE IS A SMALLER INSTANCE but with higher level enemies.

I use this one currently in combination with vilerend slicer which is main hand. Haven't seen proc with slicer yet but the claw procs pretty frequently, too bad the poison dmg is very low.

ah well, might as well use these until i can get my hands on the dal rend's set.

PS: yes, this weapon does suffer from the reduced dmg/accuracy of being an off-hand weapon even tho it's off-hand specific.

also to note, that it doesn't have the particle effect as standard, thats an enchantment on that claw.

I use it as my off hand weapon -- fast, procs a lot on rogues, and keeps a steady flow of rage generation.
