I don't see much raving about these shoulder pads, something which I find pretty odd. Lets take a look at shaman spells. +40 nature dmg rouhgly means +34 dmg on Lightning Bolt, +29 dmg on Chain Lightning and lastly +13 on Earth Shock. What this means in reality is roughly: +2,5% dmg to Earth Shock, 5,6% dmg on Chain Lightning and a WHOOPING +7,7% dmg on Lightning Bolt.

These 3 spells is the 3 most commonly used dmg spells by elmental shamans. The only spell apart from these 3 which I frequently use is frost shock, I would guess that 1 out of 30 spells is frost shock, 1 out of about 50 is flame shock, and the rest is these 3 spells.

With this item I would probably be looking at around +5% - +6% dmg increase. I don't think there's any shaman out there which wouldn't see atleast +2% dmg increase overall with spells, no matter how they play, considering how frequently Earth Shock is used.

Considering that +1% chance to crit with spells is just +1% dmg, this is the equivelent of +2%-+6% crit to spells, how sought after do you think these would be if it instead said +4% crit chance on spells? I would guess people would be weting their pants.

There's always the argument that +crit chance is means greater chance at burst dmg, something that I have to agree on is a valid point. Plain dmg increase is something that acts a multiplier upon your crits though, meaning that if you crit the +34 dmg on Lightning Bolt turns into a whooping +68 dmg instead. Also when we're talking very high crit chance it's not really "burst dmg" because you're criting so frequently. What would be incredible burst dmg though, is LOADS of plain +dmg with the default crit chance, then we're talking MAJORLY hurting crits.

So to sum it all up, I freaking want these damn pads :p

the only reason i have the shoulders is coz i wanted to bleed sum1 in MC but turns out i paid 60 DKP =( (YES IT IS BIDDED ON NO-ONE ROLLS IN MC!) but now that i look into them they're not that bad 399 armor = OMFG! it has more armor than most mail breastplates and the +40 to nature spell DMG doesnt do much at all to lightning shield =( like 11 - 13 DMG summin like that but i guess it adds a fair bit to lightning bolt and earth shock very nice shoulders for PvP and also note this...

IT DOES NOT ADD +40 TO HEALING!

I'm a mage, and let's just say that if there were a cloth mantle that gave +40 damage to fire or frost, I would piss my pants.

Elemental shaman should drool over this. The fact that it is tier 1, MC, astounds me. A cloth version of this would easily be reserved for final bosses of AQ40.

pvp only imo, unless you dps in raid which i dont see happening much. im restoration but elemental by heart, i wont be able to respec elemental for a while so im not going out of my way for them but they are worth geting. i still cast a lot and love to pop trink/NS/chainlightning and pull off 1.2k crits with out any pts in elemental

...and both armor wise and +nature spell damage they are really great. As far as I know the +40 dmg (1-40) + crit chance is added to the total sum of ES. With more gear that has +spell dmg this only increases. I do not raid BWL, AQ40 or Naxx with this char, but steadily do ZG, AQ20, MC, Ony - and I usually keep them on even when I heal. Much bcuz I dont have any better alternatives yet...so Im thinking of using the ZG shoulder healing ench on it, as Im exhalted with two or three more runs. I cant find any shoulders beating them, atleast not as easily obtained anyways. Some might argue the warlord shoulders with the new BG and hornor system would be good, but I dont think they are that much better, and when I need the healing mace, the helm and shoes there Im gonna be fed up on AV anyways.

and as a 30/0/31 elem/resto shammy that lives off lightning shield and bolts this gear is great. Consistent damage, the damage is much better then for all schools magic and with this build theres not much better alternatives when grinding, bombdps in pvp and as a mage in dungeons and raids.

I was summoned to the fight that took down Golemagg. It was the first thing I'd done in MC that night. These things dropped, along with the Felheart chestpiece AND the Earthfury Chestpiece. I managed to get these just because all of the other shaman just wanted the chestpiece.

We have gotten 5 of these in 2 MC resets, 2 times from Golemagg. Was gonna take suicide if we didn't get Staff of dominence, but hey gotta love dissing them shoulders instead of getting staff :P:P

The on charachter graphics are backwards. The pauldron on the left shoulder looks right, but the right pauldron is reversed. (So the outside part of the pauldron goes into my orc's neck, and half of my right shoulder is exposed)

Still, a nice set of pauldrons. These replaced my "Denwatchers Shoulders", and there is a HUGE boost in AR, a boost from the Denwatcher's 251. My buddy's plate pauldrons have just 8 more armor (408)

Awesome elemental shaman shoulders, shame they're ugly as sin. These are a palette swap with level 29 mail shoulders, greens even. Between Deep Earth and Malistar's, you could have one ugly looking Shaman who WTFPWNs in PVP.

Blizzard, please make more of your MC epics look ... epic.

graphics are fixed now, they kickass for pvp, I definitely notice more damage on earth shock, lightning bolts, chain lightning, and lightning shield.
