These scales are used for a few rep quests (search for Restoring Fiery Flux, or look at the objectives) other then that, they have no purpose. On average, 50 scales will sell for about 3-5g in AH, usually taking about 15 minutes to get 50 as they are a very common drop off any Incendosaurs (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=9318). usually in drops of 1-4 scales per kill. If you arent sure, Incendosaurs are located in the bottom of the Slag Pits in Searing Gorge.

i have 32 incendosaur scales in my backpack and can't sell them or use them for a quest. is the quest above a following quest? because i dont know where to get that quest, otherwise i'll remove the scales..

Start out at 0 reputation and as a human race, no previous Thorium Brother quests completed, To complete the "Neutral -> Friendly" tier:

Step 1: Complete the elite quest. What the Flux? (it's the only way to get the repeatable repuation quests)

Step 2:
All other races need

480 Kingsblood
240 Incendosaur Scales (1-3 drop per incendosaur)
120 Coal (Can be bought by the quest giver)

Humans only need:

44 Less Kingsblood (480-44 = 436 )
22 Less Incendosaur Scales (240-22 = 218 )
11 Less Coal (120-11 = 109 )

I just wanted to clear it up for those who were confused by the map. The dinos are not in the mountain like they look on the picture, they are underneath it. You must jump down into the cauldron and go into the cave next to the last one on the right. The easiest way is to jump down right on top of it, then run inside. Then run in and it will curve to the right where you will find them.

The scales can be farmed in the Searing gourge if you run to the edge of the cauldron and drop down where the eastern caves are in the cauldron and go in there. You can farm them all day long they drop 2-4 per kill.

Now the reason for faction quests is yes to increase your reputation and its set up so if your a miner you do the Iron quest. If your an alchomist you do the Kingsblood quest. If your a Skinner you do the Leather quest its that simple. The cheepest and fastest is the Leather quest because you can buy the stacks of leather on the AH for pretty cheep compared to Kingsblood or Iron.

A Skinner has the easiest time with these quests because you get the scales and leather off the incenocaurs.

IMPORTANT*** YOU MUST DO THESE QUESTS BEFORE 60 even at 59 is fine but at 60 your rep for truning in drops way way down and then its not really worth the effort and cash to get rep up. You turn the quest in at the camp in the Searing Gourge where the FP is. The person is under a little tent neer the forge and yes you can smelt there if needed.

The drop rate is one of the highest i've seen so far, after 20 kills i got 63 of them

I'm getting alot more rep than previously stated, i'm handing in the heavy leather, i'm lvl 60...and i'm getting 28 Rep. I'm also human, and I know that has a + effect. But I should only be getting about 11-12 rep per hand-in surely?

ok i dont understand this i turned in over 250 dark iron residue when can i turn in indosaur scales and dark iron ore? im currently lvl 55 dwarf warrior

The biggest problem was seperating bodies from live ones, should take you about 10-15 minutes at level 70.

even if sold to vendor they are good for grinding. they do not much damage and die fast.

we can still farm these without quest right?

I toured the Slag Pit killing Incendosaurs, and got a full stack of these, which is coincidentally 100. The drop rate is nearly 100%, but I ran into a number of scale-less beasts.

When you turn them in to the Thorium Brotherhood representative, who is near the forge at Thorium Point (the tent often covers his question mark), you will be giving him

4 scales
1 Coal
2 of another substance-- Iron Bars, Kingsblood, or Heavy Leather.

When he stopped giving me the option to turn in, I was at Friendly and had 40 scales left. So, turning in 60 scales for a Human was enough to raise the reputation that much. Other races would need one-third again as much, so that's 80 scales.

Since the dinos don't drop much else of use, my advice is to just get the minimum and vend whatever you get over that amount. They don't sell well on the AH. If you have another chara who's planning to Blacksmith, then you might save them-- but they're easy enough to restock via your higher-level when that comes to pass (they're tradeable), and you'll probably need the inventory space more than the scales.

These are used to raise Thorium Brotherhood reputation. You'll need alot to just reach friendly. Especially if you are lvl 60 already. But the rewards for the Thorium Brotherhood are enormous. If you plan on making fire resist gear for MC the plans that these guys give are incredible.

I've just been in the cave killing these things. And they are all over the place, even with a lvl 60 hunter running around farming them I had 3-4 of them on my mini map... lots of Scales too.

Since Allakhazam shows a median price of 20s for these, they must be tradable, even though they are listed as quest items.

Can someone confirm this?

the droprate is good.

100% and they drop 3 most of the time.

for example i killed 20 in a row and got 61 scales.

Incendosaurs drop 2-4 scales each. Playing a geared paladin, I looted 620 scales in an hour.

As per 23.01.22 they are at 35,65 and NOT in the cave. 35,65 is just south east of the Cauldron and west of the Iron Summit
