This sword just dropped in silitus, noticed that its not that far from the reaper.

No one said it's "better" and considering that it's a blue drop, it isn't too bad. Especially for sword spec warriors, this thing is decent since the game lacked of 2h end game blue swords. Barbarous blade (which is supposed to be a hunter 2h) was used by sword warriors, and there were no possible upgrades until Typhoon(epic from Azuregos) and Destroyer(Hakkar). No one said it's better than AR, it's just a weaker AR which is in a sword form, and doesn't take like 800~1200g to get.

1. Get friendly with Cenarion Circle

2. Hand in 3 Abyssal Crests for a Medallion of Station

3. Put on a twilight set with the medallion and activate a Windstone.

4. If the hydra spawns then defeat him and the sword will probably drop.

First and only time i killed him he dropped this sword

sword spec makes it better then ice barb and arcanite reaper by a long shot, no comparison expecially to ice barb since u loos imp hamstring, and 5% axe crit <<<<<<<< 5% sword spec

I thought I recieved a crap drop when my warrior friends passed on this. I picked it up reluctantly because I thought it was a waste to DE. Boy this thing surprises. 913 is my highest white crit with it so far (60 Holy spec Pally). Very impressed with the dps and more importantly I didn't pay a dime for it.

Got one today on April 18, 06. This thing is very nice, especially if you can't afford a Arcanite Reaper. It's almost the same thing, but the Reaper is a tad better.

I just got this sword and i have to say it isnt bad, Arc reaper and Darkstone hit for around the same amount of dmg. However Darkstone has more stam and Reaper has more +atk power. so my guess is its based on spec or choosing stam over attack power or viseversa.

Its not your imagination, Shadowstrike dmg range is 147-221 si this sword obviously hit harder per hits and with instants.

Pretty decent sword IMO but I prefer Warblade of Caer Darrow. Pretty look tho.

To get this sword requires long patience. I've created a small "guide" as to how to get it since there aren't very many detailed guides on how to get it.

The first thing, and hardest, you must do is get friendly with the Cenarion Circle. Once you are friendly, you will receive a quest to talk to someone in the Cenarion Hold in Silithus. That person will have a quest for you to collect 3 Abyssal Crests and 1 Large Brilliant Shard. To obtain the Abyssal crests, collect the 3 Twilight Trappings armor pieces (Twilight Cultist Cowl, Twilight Cultist Mantle, and Twilight Cultist Robe). Once you have a set of the 3, find a group of at least 1 person and find a 'Lesser Windstone' around the 3 Twilight Camps in Silithus (usually about 2 per camp). Put on three Twilight Trappings armor and summon the Abyssal Templar (an elite, but very easy with 2 people). Once defeated, it should always drop one Abyysal Crest. Once you've collected 3 crests and 1 Large Brilliant Shard, go back to the quest giver and turn in the quest for a medallion. This medallion will allow you to access the Windstones, in which the Dukes are summoned from.

(If you want to summon the dukes, I suggest a group of 5 or more. The Dukes ARE elite and hit extremely hard and almost wiped my group of 5 out easily. A tank is a MUST and many healers would be good. We killed the duke with 1 hunter, 2 paladins, 1 warrior (me), and a druid.)

Once you have the medallion, go back to the camps in Silithus and find just a regular "Windstone". Put on the Twilight Trapping set like before and equip the medallion. This should allow you to summon the duke. The type of duke is completely random, so you have a 1 in 4 chance to summon the Duke of Fathoms (the one that drops this sword). Just defeat the Duke of Fathoms and hopefully it should drop this sword. Along with other drops, you will also get an Abyssal Signet which you can turn in for a bag of spoils.

This sword dropped on the first Duke of Fathoms our group killed, so hopefully many others will have this good drop rate.

Dropped off of like our fourth duke in silithus. was the hydra ....so seeing that it has dropped off the hydra in other posts there might be a high drop rate off the hydra.

We were out farming circle rep, and just spawning dukes as we could get the mats together, cause we needed signets. 4th duke was the hydra type, it dropped this sword, and a signet, and some crappy pally plate belt that we disenchanted.

Dropped for us tonight when we were farming the guys.... i love it... evne tho i have Shadowstrike i would still use this over it.. i seem to be doing a bit better damage w/ it... but maybe it's my imagination

Damnit... I've been killing $%^&loads of dukes, including 7 dukes of fathoms, but this still hasn't dropped for me... that ^&*!ty luck.
