This quest was to find his possessions. He kept all of his valuable possessions in his box, this was from his love so of course it has great value to him. But I think it's there just for story purposes, not actually a useful item.

I vaguely remember a similar quest in I think darkshore or ashenvale where you aquired a ring or other jewelry from a mob or quest or loot that was a memento to a night elf you could turn in for exp, rep and maybe some coin. This mightve been meant to be a similar quest, just unfinished.

The Inscription reads: A token for my love to remember me by. May Elune watch over my dear Nolkai. just as it says above...Elune is the Night Elf goddess/guardian person so possibly you have to go to auberdine or Darnassus...still haven't figured it out but that may be a possibility. May have to find someone to give it to.

I'm inclined to think that it doesn't have any use. It's just a little thing to add a little bit of emotion to the game. Nothing more.

That said, I'm keeping ahold of it just in case ;)

Since it mentions Elune, I went to the temple in Darnassus to see if there was a quest offered that tied in with it. Only thing I found there was a Draenei with a quest leading me to Astranaar.

Maybe thats all its meant to do, lead you to the next zone you can level in. the only thing is though, if you know about the temple in Elune than you probably already know to quest in Ashenvale - a new person playing a Draenei would not know or think to check there.

My guess is it was supposed to be gray indicating it had no use, but someone in Blizzard screwed up. However it is only one slot in my bank so I'll save it just in case.

I checked this up with a GM, its nothing, delete it or keep it, ur choice, if u aint got a ring in a slot, equip it i dunno, its not anything :P

Although you can not sell this item to a vendor, you can put it on the auction house... Which means you could get more than one. If it were an item for a quest, it would most likely be right-clickable or soulbound. You never know, though! I have some ideas I'm playing around with to be certain.

Ok heres what i have so far. Prince Toreth is from darnassus and he is a Dragon Raider of Loreth'Aran and Nolkai's Band was found in the Ruins of Loreth'Aran. Now Prince Toreth says he was the last to die and swore a blood oath which was nearly 10,000 years ago. Prince Toreth also says he was blessed by Ysera of the Dream. When u ask him about these two things he says Ysera is the gaurdian of nature and the Dream is aspect of the dream. Prince Toreth says he is the sole keeper of the history of what happened at Loreth'Aran which means that no where in Azeroth is any record of what happened. But the Ring in question says may Elune watch over my dear Nolkai. So what i propose is anyone in Darnassus with the ring attempt to speak with the ancients roaming around thoes guys must be well over 10,000 yrs old and must know something.
Thats all i have for now. and good luck in uncovering its mysteries.

I am keeping this silly ring just in case too. now some of the rerp was with the gnomes... anything at ironforge?

This is like the bouquet of flowers that you get in Redridge Mtns. It has no value and doesn't do anything except pique your curiosity and add romance to the game. Hang on to it if you like. You can throw it away when you're a level 64 and don't have any room in you bank for the stuff that matters. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

While I personally believe that this item is most likely useless.

I wanted to point out something that everyone has missed. The ring drops with an off-hand item, a lantern of sorts. It may be that you need to equip this lantern in a specific spot to see whoever it is that a possible quest is linked to. Similar to the Eye of Divinity and the priest quest for Benediction.

It may not be the one item alone but both items which are necessary to find a quest.

I wouldnt destroy the item if i were you, i just spoke to a GM they said, "I'm sorry I am unable to discuss the use for this item as it may be giving game hints" per GM Whikmax

i have had the ring and kept the ring on all my toons and i have yet to find a purpose for it but it it is in white then there is a purpose for it Blizzard has never let me down yet on content for this game and i dotn beleive it is just useless vendor crap

first of all you ask 2 different GMs the same question and they wont answer the same. why? because GM is a customer service psotion, they dont have to know all the details about the game, all they have to do is deal with pissed off players and handle reports. second theres dozens maybe even hundreds of items in the game that have no use, especially if you count items that show up in grey, they have a whole color category for it. not all items have a use, and if this item was going to lead up to anything important then they would have added that content into the game by now, otherwise they wouldve made it more obvious that the ring is important in some way.

I think we all should just keep is because you never know,they might make it useful someday,and i have heard many different things about it like"it has no use" and "i cant tell you that cause it gives game hints",so i will put it in my bank and keep it just incase

Nolkai's band doesn't do anything. It's got a grey name. Grey = Vendor trash. A vendor doesn't want it? Then grey = trash. Just destroy it, waste of space.

Um... Guys, the only purpose of the ring is to confirm that the mound that you dug up was the same mound that the quest was talking about. The ring serves no purpose other than to confirm that this is what the journal had been telling us to find. No secret story or secret quest. Nolkai was a NE from a long time back he was caught with his other people in a battle and they made their last stand. To ensure that he was not forgotten and to ensure that others would know the fate of that day, he created the treasure map and the journal. Yep, that's it.....

Its an novelty item, it has no greater value then the usual grey items you find elsewhere.

Some of these items are mainly aimed for roleplayers. Anyone else will just vendor for cash (or AH it for RP's to buy).

I don't know why there was such a fuss over the ring. Its name is in grey, which by blizz standard means usless. I tossed it before I even made it back to Blood Watch.

Nolkai's band has become a grey item after the 2.3 patch. I guess this definitely means there's nothing special about this item.

ok u prettymuch got handed a 8-slot bag and a fairly worthless green item you can sell or dench and all you can do is QQ bout a worthless grey item you get with it? trash the ring sell/dench the green and equip the bag and move on.

HA fools ok i agree with the guy that sais that we should talk to the ancients but heres something someone give me the defenition of lore yes ancients of lore onu the wandering guy in ashenvale and the one behinde the hunter area in darn oh and yes there is a nolkia in under city still theres a ghost elf outside house in auberdine this game is filled with lore and is meant to be a game were when you type in chat you will type in old english or speak in elvish infront of humans....this thing could even be the item you use to kill arthas the lich king in wotlk enjoy and may elune the light cenarius the earth mother the titans the dragons azhara protect you
