I just won this in the AH for under 200g. I'm undecided if I should learn it or resell it.

While it makes a nice head peice, the mats seem a bit outrageous (18 primal air and 10 primal mana!?!). I know I'll never farm mats to make and sell one. I'm wondering what the likelyhood is of crafting them for others?

Has anyone seen what the demand for the hood is on their servers?

i think ill stick with my spellstrike. leather gear for balance sucks these days. heck i jsut bit the bullet and leveled tailoring up hehe. at least i get some REAL ncie healing gear out of it.

Since the 2.1 patch buff these seem a bit better than the Druidic Helm of of Second Sight (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31110). Agreed the Spellstrike Hood is better though, even if you don't get the Tailoring set bonus.

i find this to be the best PVE leather head piece for a moonkin, excluding tier gear that is, i have heard arguments that https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28137 is better but that is just plainly not true, for a PVE moonkin, high crit ratings mixed with decent + spell damage is the best thing you can have and this head has exactly that, a very good head piece.

This is the worst epic ever. I really cant see why anyone would get this except if some1 would love how it looks or rather want an epic item just because its epic. Now lets compare this helm to the second sight helms. There are 2 classes that this would be good for, Moonkin/Balance Druids and Elemental Shamans.

The difference between this and Windscale hood is:
+8 Stamina
+11 Spell Damage
+232 Armor

-3 Int
-9 Spell Crit
-6 mana per 5 sec

I value Stamina much higher than int, 9 crit vs 11 damage is pretty equal, crit is probably slightly better, the armor is gonna help a lot in PvP vs melee classes (232 won't make a big difference but all leather vs all mail will make a huge difference so as much mail as possible is to be prefered) and the mana/5sec is negletable for what I do, PvP. And this is just the gems I use, if you're into PvE there are other gems to make it a superior helm for PvE aswell.

The stats between a Druidic Helm of Second Sight is armor, sockets, stats, mods are all the same. The Druidic Helm has 221 Armor and looses 50 armor to this, but a PvP druid is gonna have high armor in Moonkin anyway and a balance druid doesnt need armor nearly as much as a shaman does scince entangling roots and cyclone to build a distance between the druid and melee classes where the shaman has nothing except frost shock which won't do any good if your enemy charged/cheap shotted you before you could do anything.

The Second sight helms comes from a quest in Shadowmoon Valley, and the first chain starts here https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11046 for Horde and here https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=11045 for allience. After that quest chain you begin a new quest chain with 3 soloable parts and 1 group part:

The armor part is the only hard one, and requires a 4-5 mans party. I did it with a 4 man party. Getting group is rather easy and the other quests takes much less time and effort than getting matts or gold for matts for this helm. I would possibly consider taking this over the Second Sight helm if it had twice as good stats. For players with access to heroic instances or are willing to run normal instances until a Primal Nether drops the Engineering helm is a million times better than this, for slightly more expensive matts. As a moonkin I always tried to stick to Leather..... But if you are going to be a raiding moonkin then the armor does not mater. Cloth works just as well with a larger selection. However in PvP, Leather is a must to last through the rogues and ms warriors.

This item is great for PvP with the Stam and Spell crit.

So, Spellstrike has:
-126 armor (*5=630 in Moonkin)
+4 or equal sta
-6 int
+16 hit rating
-13 crit rating
+2 damage
-10 mp5
+red socket
+yellow socket
+blue socket

Sockets are, as always, great. You can use them to make up for (some) of the shortcomings, or boost other stats. Put a Solid Star of Elune in it (+12 sta), and you'll have about the same survivability with Spellstrike as Windscale - the extra stamina makes up for the lesser armor. With a Gleaming Dawnstone (+8 crit rating) and a Potent Noble Topaz (+4 crit rating and +5 spelldamage) you'll get more crit with Spellstrike.

The only thing Windscale beats Spellstrike on is mp5. With 3 Lustrous Stars of Elune (+3 mp5) its only by 1mp5, but then you loose the socket bonus and any other gems.

Spellstrike actually ends up better than Windscale in all situations. It is, however, more expensive / harder to get.

this is WORSE then the helm of second sight you get in shadowmoon valley. Where are the stats, I mean blizz you forgot stats on this bad boy and the lightning helm for shammys. 24 int and 22stam for the win? the other 2 leather and 3 mail pieces have stats and diesel equip's.

I chose not to spend 700g on this when with my Druidic Helmet of Second Sight, I have 33 crit rating, 40 spell damage, 8 spell penetration, plus the +stamina and intellect and 4 mana per 5 seconds

What a terrible epic. Thanks for crappy moonkin itemization blizz. Meanwhile all the tailoring craftables are >T5. I mean seriously, a moonkin helm with no sockets and no stam or int that's inferior to the Second Sight helm - a blue quest reward? bah

Have to agree with the above comment regarding the Druidic Helm of Second Sight -

Although I would personally love to have one, esp. after the upgrade it got in the recent patch, I am MUCH better off keeping the DHoSS, upgrading my gems, and - with the same mats, not only making myself my Windhawk Bracers, but also - from the 'extra' mats left over - getting together a large start on either my Windhawk Belt or Windhawk Hauberk -

Of course, my situation it only appropriate for other high-level Tribal LWers (as the Windhawk pieces are Bind on Creation), but others in the same place should consider it.

The MP5 is pretty nice though. I know you can get gems to boost MP5, but that would also take away from the crit% and int sockets. All in all... i thnk this helm is pretty sweet. Hell with the right enchant, this thing would make an okay healing helm...

With the buff from the patch this helm is on par if not slightly above Tier 4 Balance in quality.

One of the better non-raiding Moonkin head pieces due to the huge amount of crit, spell damage and Mp5 - and it's Leather!

The stats of this are extremely improportional to the required mats. And yes you can make a blue quest reward helm as good as this one without wasting 1000g on the mats. In my opinion the only boomkin items worth while from leatherworking is the Windhawk set but this item is just a plain ol' piece of crap epic :P.

P.S.: comment on the mage tailoring gear....yes they are extremely good when it comes to spell dmg and spell crit but a fight like gruuls would destroy a mage with tailoring gear. Why? Because the set is crap when it comes to mana. You couldnt get 10k mana with that set to save your life. The spellstrike pants only give +8 intellect lmao

Crit is the least favored stat for a boomkin to have. For boomking it goes hit->spell dmg->crit.

The best helm to have pre-kara is Hood of Oblivion socketed right and nothing beats it for a while not even the ^&*!ty t4 helm.
