Transporter is located just outside of Toshley's, Horde can learn it from the gnome.

4 hour cooldown.

Only malfunction I have seen so far is a "Soul Split: Evil!" debuff which turned my character red and made her transparent for 1 hour, non dispellable. Actually looked kinda cool.

I got a great failure today on my first use of it:"Transporter Malfunction
Looks like your pattern matrix got mixed up with the last person to use the transport pad."

It turned me (female dwarf Paladin) into a male Tauren for an hour!

Ive had the Transporter Malfunction pattern matrix mix happen as well, both times ive used this so far. As a rogue everytime I stealth or unstealth it changes the model - which is quite cool. The first time this happened to me it changed me into various alliance models (including Draenei). The second time it changed me into horde! Nothing more funny than stealthing around as a Tauren :D

A particular note is that this persists through death, as of 14/2/07

Comprehensive list of debuffs I have seen, as a female human, I've been using this every 4 hours pretty much.

Transporter Malfunction (1): 60 min
Transformed me into a male dwarf, female gnome, female draenei, or male night elf. Any other transformation effects will randomly switch which one it is. I tested this using the Dartol's Rod of Transformation (furbolg wand).
Transporter Malfunction (2): 60 min
Transformed me into a female blood elf, male troll, male tauren, female orc. Same as above, was able to use other transformation effects to switch the model.
Transporter Malfunction (3): 60 min
Makes your character large.
Transporter Malfunction (4): 60 min
Makes your character small.
Transporter Malfunction (5): 3 min
Transformed me into a black chicken, all abilities pacified, unable to do much but move or hearth. Can't mount.
Soul Split: Evil: 60 min
Makes your model turn a red shade (think enrage) and somewhat transparent.
Soul Split: Good: 60 min
Makes your model turn a gold shade and somewhat transparent.
Evil Twin: 120 min
Same effect (?) as the Gadgetzan one. That is to say does absolutely nothing.

You can equip another trinket in its place while the transporter is casting; very handy so you don't forget to put in a useful trinket when you reach your destination.

interestingly, when you're turned into a horde or alliance, your looks will be 'unique' to you. For example, when i have the alliance buff on my dwarf rogue, it will turn me into different looking alliance than the alliance you would get if you were a gnome rogue. So my alliance / horde transformations will always look the same every time i do it, but it will still be unique to me.

You will change form every time you change 'stances'. EG: stealth, warriors changing stance, possibly shadowform and druid forms will cause this to happen too. For you unlucky people that cannot do any of these, you can just relog and your model will change. Excellent fun trinket

I got the shrink debuff for the first time today (most of the time it gets my DNA mixed up and turns me into another race). Being a Gnomish Engineer, I couldn't resist using my World Enlarger while under it's effects and comparing the results. You become tiny! Riding a tiger mount looks more like you are riding a kitten then a big vicious cat.

Should see the results if the mods approve the picture I uploaded.

I don't know if it's just me but it seems the malfunctions have been a lot rarer since 2.1, especially the one that changes your race, i haven't gotten it since 2.1.

Note that the debuffs also persist into the arena. Yesterday I was running around in the arena with my male tauren warrior, switching looks between female draenei, female gnome, male nelf and male dwarf as I switched stances.

the debuffs get dispelled when a druid shapeshifts (save for the evil twin) so far though i've only seen the good soul/race swap they both don't mix with shapeshift oh and the small debuff doesn't stack with the world enlarger come on blizz you can do better

Some tricks I've learned in the few weeks I've been using my trinket:

1) Logging out "safely" in a town or inn will cause the debuffs such as race-switching or size-changing to tick down while offline. (Like BG deserter)

2) Logging out outside of a town or inn (with the 20 second timer) will cause the debuffs to remain on you until you log back in. (like any self-buff)

3) You can have multiple versions of the debuffs on you at the same time, however one version of race-changing debuff will always be what you get. (For me the Alliance version would always override the Horde version).

4) Dying under a race transformation debuff and logging out will keep your new race model, but wil apply your "natural" skin, leading to very mutated-looking corpses.

As a rogue dwarf i become: Troll Male-Tauren Male and Nigh Elf Female -Gnome Female-Draenei Female :) I noticed that after stealth sometimes i change form :p

Evil Twin has no effect beyond just being a debuff other people can see on you.

Also: The racial malfunction has two sets. one alli, one horde.
(As a male gnome, I dont know if theres another pair of sets for other races)

Male nelf, male dwarf, female gnome, female draenei
and
Male taurin, male troll, female orc, female belf

BTW, female draenei have a surprisingly nice and well done stealth animation despite a rogue getting this malfunction or a belf using an OoD being the only ways to actually see it.

No, the transporter pad is located outside the station, so horde are safe to use it.

If you are turned into a chicken, there is a simple way to get rid of fast :
Put off all your gear, and drop yourself in the Death's Door. If the fall doesn't kill you, demons will surely do it :p

The pattern matrix (DNA mixup) is great for shadowpriests. I can shift in and out of shadowform and the model keeps changing to different races.

My friend tells me that he has seen a movie where a moonkin druid can shapeshift and still have the race switch debuff on him is that unique to moonkin form?
Have anyone done any testing with a druid on this one?

Yes it is , I am a moonkin druid and once u shapeshifts into Moonkin the debuff still stays ,ur model will change as u shapeshift in and out of moonkin form

++When in chicken debuff shapeshifting does no remove the chicken debuff so druids can shapeshift into Flight Form and become a flying chicken!!

The "evil twin" debuff comes from the "Mirror, Mirror" episode of Star Trek where a mishap occurs during a transport due to an ion storm, and an "evil" version of Mr. Spock beams back. The "evil" Spock is sporting a Goatee to help viewers discern him from regular Spock, hince the debuff graphic.

If you are like me and use this for the horde/alliance malfunctions, you will sometimes have your cooldown up right before you logout. You should queue alterac valley, then use the transporter. If you get the debuff of your choice accept the battleground then use alt+F4 to close wow. Once that game ends your character is in limbo and it's debuff will stop counting down. I use this frequently to preserve malfunctions for the next time I login.

If you get the chicken debuff you can use a Savory Deviate Delight and mount, if you remove the Deviate Delight buff you'll be mounted as a chicken. I did this and was able to mount my netherdrake as a chicken.

It also gets removed when you Ghost Wolf nowadays, don't know if that was always the case. Pretty boring, seeing as ever since GW was made instacast with talents, I'm finding myself using it more and more often. The debuffs rarely last 10 minutes on me now.

Engineers who took the time to gather the 350 Fire Blossoms needed for the will be happy to know that you can change races by dropping it and dancing with it. Each time you stop dancing to cancel the flame effect, you will emerge as a different race.

Also, as clarification: There is an Alliance race version, and a Horde race version. If you get the Alliance race version, doing anything (like stealthing/unsteathing, zoning, or using the Brazier) will only switch you between the four respective races for that debuff. Thus, you cannot go from Gnome to Tauren, ect.

As of current patch you can no longer equip trinket you normally use while channeling transporter. The channel will be broken and you must wait out 30 second trinket global cd before you can channel again

Isnt Toshley's Station an Alliance Outpost? Does this mean that Horde can't get a gnomish transport in the Outlands?

EDIT: Just get to 350 in engineering and talk to the transporter guy. He's on the outside of the station just north. Tell him how lovely his machine is and he'll teach you the schematic.

It also can happen that you get larger, (a version of the "Transporter Malfunction " when you combine this debuf with Winterfall Firewater you are too big to get trough the SW bank. (and maby more doors)

on the same place is the key to get this debuff off you; go stand on the doorstep, then use Winterfall Firewater (it wil immediately fade from you) and youll lose your "Transporter Malfunction" debuf.

I just got my first malfunction message, but it's one of those wierd things where you don't know what it does:

Soul Split: Evil
Only the dark half of your soul made it through the transport

If anyone figures out what it means, or has other malfunctions, lemme know

This is by far one of the best trinkets i have ever made, varouis effects it makes that i have come across i will list here.
-Soul Split Evil, makes you a see through Red color. 2 hrs
-Soul Split Good, Makes you a see through Yellow Color. 2hrs
-Evil twin, i dont know what the heck this does still :P

And by far the BEST effect and the whole reason you would make this trinket...
Its has a chance to change your character model for 2hours. So for 2 hrs i was a Tauren Shadow Priest. You also could look like the opposite faction (Screw with alliance in BG's!) During this time (As far as i know) if you shape shift (shadowform for example) it will change your model. (Tauren, BE , Gnome, Dranie, NE, ect)

And it has a chance to do nothing, boring!

edit: No shared cooldowns :D Hooray 3 hearthstones!

I had a new one that i have not seen in the past with the Gadgetzan transporter, it made me bigger and the tooltip said: You feel larger somehow.

Lasted 1 hour, nice to see new ones :P

I think Bliz must think engi is only for fun and not money making.

So, if you accept that statement as being true from the beginning you might just enjoy it. We can make a lot of cool, fun and useful things, at least for ourselves anyway ;)

This teleporter has given me the soul split evil and good, chickened me for 3mins .. all as mentioned above, but most recently I got;

There are quite a few effects that come from the new Transporter:

1) Soul Split: Good. Only the light half of your soul made it though the transport.

2) Soul split: Evil. Only the dark half of your soul made it though the transport.

Both of these have a shader-effect on your toon, Gold and glowing for Good, Red and smoky-looking for Evil.

3) Chicken: Looks like there was a chicken near the pad when you used it.

You may hearth and use vanish, and stealth while 'poultryfied', other allowable actions require more time as a chicken to test.

4) Evil Twin: You have been replaced by your evil twin.

Familiar to those with the 'Zan transporter, no doubt.

5) OMGHORDELOL: (not the name of the debuff, can't remember its real name) You become a Horde for an hour. BUT... it's not just one race, it's an hour of rotating race changes.

Character state-changes seem to trigger a race change too, for example:

As an Human Male, I came out of the port as a Blood Elf Female. Stealthing turned me into a Female Orc, removing stealth made me a Male Tauren (vanish kept me as a Tauren, stealth cow ftw)... and so on. The only change I didn't get was to UD.

6) EASYMODELOL: as above, but with transforms from your own faction. I got Male Dwarf, Female Gnome, Male Night Elf and Female Draenai.

7) Shrink! You feel smaller, somehow. Humans become a little taller than Gnome size.

8) Grow! You feel larger somehow. Humans become Night Elf height.

6+7 both affect the size of your mount correspondingly

I dont know if this has been posted. But logging out and back in whilst in "mixed pattern" mode will rotate your race. Very handy for confusing people :)

Atm I am so pleased that I can get naked and recall Gadgetzan and be in CoT in minutes. I'm equally as chuffed that I can now recall Blade's Edge and be in Gruul's lair in just as short a time. Rem' the 25 man coming to CoT too, kinda handy eh :)

In response to the poster above, I agree that there's some improvements that could have been made without making the skill imba. Improved deepdive, parachute, transport between your two engineering school's cities and at least something sustainable and farmable that we can sell! Kinda sick to death of making scopes for over 15 months lol.

Another nice something would be some kind of AOE trinket/item/whatever, that when used would work kind of along the lines of the Force Reactive Disk but with a decent amount of threat/dps. I'm an engineer tank you see, and found the force reactive disk very useful in certain situations (ZG panthers for example). Obv just an idea, will never happen :)

One question I have: how do we contact Blizzard with the hope of some improvement in this difficult, expensive to raise, profitless skill? As in is there some way to petition them en masse?

Since my post above I have found the 2.1 unofficial patch notes....seems engineering is AT LAST gettin some love :D

Some examples:

11 new epic goggles have been introduced at 350 engineering skill and are available from the trainer. They range from cloth to plate, and have a variety of stats to appeal to most talent specs - we'll see about this one eh lol.

A recipe for "Frost Grenades" and the "Icy Blasting Primers" needed to make them are now on engineering trainers - I'm told these will be very effective :)

And my fave: "Seaforium" now opens locked chests as well as locked doors - YES! No more 'leave it it's locked' scenarios when there's no rogue :D

Not sure for horde, (me being alliance) but I make money hand over fist with this profession.

For a nutral quest in Badlands you need a Gyrochronatom

For a mid 20's lev quest in Duskwood and the Rogue poison quest (at lev 20) you need a bronze tube

For a quest at Lights Hope in EPL you need 8 High Explosive Bombs and 8 Unstable Triggers

A quest which I am not sure where it's at or what it's for you need an Advanced Target Dummy

Another quest I haven't found yet is one that requires an Adamantite Frame

I also make tons of Sniper +7, and Adamantite +10 Scopes which make tons of money.

And unlike other crafting professions, most ppl don't know the mats for Eng. stuff so they pay pretty much whatever you say. Unlike Armor they know it's a certain kind of metal, and Leatherworking they know it's a certain kind of leather. Engineering it takes mats for parts, and sometimes parts to make other parts, to make what they want. Non-Engineers can be so clueless.

Now I agree the placement for this transporter for horde is not fair, it would appear that you only need to kill the 1 gnome (assuming) and then it's just a quick ride to the horde city right?.. I mean after all it's gnomish engineering, not guarenteed safe.

I am a Mage and love the fact that I can Port myself to 5 cities, hearth to a 6th, and now transport to 2 others! I hear they don't have the same cool-down, but I assume the new Toshley's Station is 4 hrs as is the Gadgetzan one.

I don't have many complaints about the profession, but I'd like to see some epic quality items out there. And preferably that aren't for one side or the other (gnomish or goblin), but for both.

So far I have had quite a few effects happen to me..

Soul Split: Good, a yellowish tint
Soul Split: Evil, a red tint
Turn into a horde race for 1 hour. BE, Troll, Orc and Taurens.
Turn into a ally race for 1 hour. NE, Dwarves, Gnome, and Draenei.
Shrink to about 1/3rd your height.
Grow... does not efect you if you are a tauren/NE.
Turn into a chicken.
'Evil Twin' debuff... which does nothing but lasts for 2 hours.

I wonder, how small can u get if u went into the mechanar, at final part with the shrinking guys, got there shrink debuff, then used shrink ray, and the transporters shrink, and the noggeforge, HAHA, u'd be so small that no1 can target u

i was in cat form and came out a chicken..oyu can swithc between different forms (bear, travel, etc.) but cannot attack at all. i can however use dash and enrage.

out of 9 attempts I have only had 1 transporter malfunction

also don't logout as the debuff will still tick while you are offline got the debuff before having to go out when I got back it was gone

they must have nerfd this, im a druid and when i switch forms I lose the debuff that turns me into a horde. I was a female blood elf, but when I switchd to cat form i lost the debuff

If druids shift to flight form with the chicken debuff, they will remain a chicken but can still fly.

Neat little trick, if you want to get the debuff's that make you a different race / Soul Split: Good Soul Split: Evil! . Cast this and ALT + F4 right before cast is finished and the cooldown won't start BUT you have a chance to get the debuff.
