I dont see the big deal that people are crying about future nerfs, all items with these procs are diminished in effectiveness against higher level characters. Just as a level 70 can duel you with two freezing bands on and they will see 'resist' over and over again on their screen. We all knew this since before TBC came out, this is nothing new.

On the idea of this being a level 29 item and suited for twinks where a level 70 quickly cleans all the mobs except doan. Then the twink zones in and has a chance for the item. Frankly it wouldn't matter if the item was 29 or 30 that stuff is still going to occur. Though most all those doan's will put the twink to level 30 which might be truely funny to someone at Blizzard.

One thing to keep in mind is that they are also adjusting the level range on many instances. The adjustments might make this just right for the new level range for SM Library.

Blizzard's own item database has updated and classified this item as having a very low (3-14%) drop rate. Pretty good for an epic. Shouldnt be too impossible for a twink to get.

Furby, the ring is a confirmed drop, it dropped for me yesterday. Keep trying it, it is real, and it is also on armory, you probably didn't spell it right.

well, it can't just be 0.2% drop chance on this... me and my brother boosed a friend of ours in SM and suddenly this thing dropped, without anyone of us ever have heard of it. my brother won the roll cause it could be usefull even if lvl 70 if the proc worked even then. I wanted the ring myself, so when we were done boosing my friend I went lib 2 times, i would prolly have gone there up to 5 times, but not anymore, so i didn't get my hopes up. the first time I killed him solo I got Illusionary rod and the robe... the second time I killed him I got the ring and the robe. so even with 14% drop rating that requires an insane amount of luck, but with a 0.2% drop chance as it sais.... it requires an unaturally insane amount of shitluck.

And what brackets are you fighting in? 1300? The scalar proc rate of this item means at 70 it'll almost never be going off. Smart move trading resilience and decent stats for 10 stam and a sub-1% proc.

I have dropped this ring myself sometime took me 3 runs to drop it the third time i had 4 twinks wíth me and i cleared the hole *!@# thy waited outside then the ring dropped and all rolled funny enough al lrolled 45 then i jsut told them that i was going to roll on it then i gave eacha number to number you know thy all got if it is 0-25 you get and so on and i rolled 100 lucky nr. 100 :) not hard to get as i think of it -.-

Expect to see this after NO LESS than 20 kills on average. If it drops earlier you got lucky. If it hasn't dropped yet and you have passed 20 kills dont be discouraged... the odds are now in your favor.

I have to say that I was blown away by how much this ring procs. In WSG, my druid buddy proc'ed it like 4 times in less than 2 minutes while defending me as the FC. It was insane. 5% proc rate is amazing. BTW...this was on the 29 bracket.

Anecdotal review: In the 39 bracket--with a feral druid--I fought a pally who had this.
I would conservatively estimate that the proc went off 4 times per encounter (I probably fought him 3 times, we are both twinks, obviously, if I am hitting him that many times).

For a pally...good for flag running or catching a heal (or making a druid noob like me shift-oom). For a class that depends on kiting and distance, I would say this is completely invaluable if you are going to stay at 29/39 for a while.

If you are a twink and are doubting if you should go for this since it "should" be hard to farm... go for it.
Me and my friend are making a twink together and we were basicly boosting eachother with our twinks still at lvl 21. Got our first one on attempt #3 and the 2nd one on about the 11th.

I have this item on my paladin, and have to say the proc is utterly useless for melee classes in pve. All it does it root the opponent into place, but hey, you're meleeing; you're not moving either!

I can imagine you may have some 'Fraps-moments' in low-bracket pvp with this, but nothing you can count on. It's 10 stamina, which is nice, but the proc is for comic effect and that's about it.

Proc chance is listed as 5%.

At level 70, using the *0.66 formula, this will be
5*0.66=3.333~.

So it would be approx 3.3% proc chance, for level 70.

As a prot paladin farming instances as lvl 70 this is so so. IWhile you pull and run it can come in handy if some mobs are frozen in place. It minimizes damage a little but is it worth switching for other lvl 70 epic rings, I dunno. I have green rings and use this one for know...

Freezing Band I still have on my PvP level 70 Frost Mage. Got it for 60g at level 48 and kept it since. I think it stacks with Spell Hit + but im not sure, I might just be getting 'loved' by Warriors a LOT more than I think...

Got today on my soon to be lvl 39 Rogue Twink I found the easiest way to get it was park my rogue twink at the front of the instance, then with my prot pallie on a different account i would clear the first hallway and courtyard area all in one nice big AOE pull. I would then run to Doan, Tag him and run back to the entrance with all the mobs in tow. Id run around teh corner almost to the portal so the ranged would come into range and then i would consencrate them down.

Took about 15-20 runs, and i think its been stated that the drop is actually about 5%.

I ran maybe 6 times to get is on my hunter twink.
It dropped on the 6th run.
Came back about 2 hours later, on the first run it dropped again, then about 5 runs later it dropped again, then i ran again the next day and it dropped again. Four drops in less than 12 hours. AMAZING!

When I disenchanted it I got 4 Large Glowing Shards.

I ran my draenei shaman through SM 2 times, once as a lvl 30 (i leveled once inside), and again the next day as a 32, and picked up deadman's hand on the second run. the first run didn't drop much of anything useful, but i got a LOT out of the second. word to the wise..if you are going in as a shaman, make sure you are going in as a healer (i am not, i'm elemental), because the majority of the guys inside are totally resistant to most of your spells...better for you to just sit back and heal=)

I got it for my pally twink in the making today.

I got it on my 21st run.

I used a prot pally / fire mage / frost mage (only 1 at a time) for 5 runs each time, (hitting the instance cap in about 30 minutes, then logging, coming back in 30ish and repeat).

I just got the 70 to tag the boss, run back to the entrance, kill, loot (with group loot) and repeat. I didn't get too much exp. My twink went from level 20 to 22 from the 21 attempts.

I noticed that, the prot pally was best, followed by the fire mage, with the frost mage being the slowest. All similarly geared. Id say player skill level was fairly even. The prot pally was doing each run in about 5 minutes.

Ok well I started off trying to get this ring around level 30ish, when I was in my SM craze. I was (and still am) tanking hella lot and the +10 stam beats all other rings around that level, add a sweet effect and a purple name, and you got one badass ring. A few SM lib runs later I was frustrated that it wasn't dropping.. So I looked at the drop rate and wanted to cry. My guild ran SM lib about 5 times every day and still nothing.. To do this day I haven't seen this ring drop and I still stealth SM lib to doan (I am level 52 currently) just to see if it will drop. This ring is EXTREMELY Rare. For the 29 twinks out there counting on being able to get this.. Don't count on it, especially with limited runs per hour.

Theres a very easy way to run this all u have to have is close friesnds or guildies looking for a quick buck run the instance with ure main preferbaly lvl 50-60 drop rate is higher then than at 70 ive heard anyways run until it drops dont loot invite a friend to ure party have him come to SM dont log out until he enters the instance then log onto twink(have him outside the entrance) run in and loot the ring easy simple and u dont waste countless money on other people to run u thru the instance and u can skip mobs so theres no aggro on ure high lvl hunters are preferably the best people for the job grab a few stack of swiftness pots run to doan fiegn death kill him if he drops the ring clear the rest of the instance and do what i said oh and pay the guildy to stay in the one spot if u dont trust him well enough

Hardcore twink item. After only 2 run throughs to the Arcanist Doan guy (in Library), this dropped for my 28 priest. Yay! First epic at 28. lol.

Probably a server first for Gorefiend.

Just dropped for me on my 56 mage... my 54 lock friend and i both needed for the heck of it and I won. It's my second ever epic drop in the game (the first being Staff of Jordan... and I LOST the roll on that! I shouldn't group, just solo everything...). I'm actually able to use it though, sadly, most of my rings are crap lol

Just wanted to see how long it would take me to get it. Got it on my 3rd kill with my 66 druid. Actually still useful for pvp at lvl 66 as it does freeze enemies about 10-20 percent of the time. 3 seconds is long enough as a druid to hit cat form and get 20 yards away and combined with natures grasp... yeah

I just got it to drop on my 10th run through with my twink priest. Seems they must have increased the drop rate. I started running myself through with my main at Level 20 to be sure I would have enough time to get one before 29, but it only took 10 runs. This isn't an "I'm sooo lucky!1!11!" thread, but rather encouragement to the rest of you to go get one. Seems rather possible now.

P.S. Don't have enough data for an accurate proc rate yet, but it does proc noticably often.

In less than 48 hours (11/15/2007-2:22a) of 2.3 release, I now have the Deadman's Hand; the first of Server: Lightbringer!
The proc occurs Very often. As a 29T Frost Mage with 10% to cause Frost Bite, basically, if my Frost Bit doesn't proc, the ring will--back to back. It's a beautiful ring, though a better ring would be +5% to Stats & the Ice Block feature. Skeptical? Click on Turpolis.

The drop rate is 5%. The official wow armory says 3%-14% (they should know), and thottbot and wowhead are recording 5% because they reset the kill counts after the 2.3 patch.

I just had this drop yesterday in the Scarlet monastary, i almost crapped myself...

the proc rate is nuts, i freeze stuff chasing me all the time, no clue at what lvl it stops being effective. but i have it on my lvl 33 paladin,

It also works on range weapons, froze axe throwers, and bow hunters.

as soon as i saw this on the patchnotes, i wanted it for my 29 twink, so on patch day i began clearing SM with my 68 warlock, then killing doan with my rog. no drops. the next night, i got home at 3am, piss drunk. I logged on my warlock, and apparently decided to kill doan, as thats were i was already. Well, what do ya know? It dropped for me. My 68 lock sitting pretty with a USELESS ring. Cant DE, cant SELL.

Ive since ran SM over a dozen times and still no drop for my rogue... :(

24 times no drop... every 3-4 runs i have to wait 5 minutes or so then just keep repeating... if u dont want exp 70 kills everything u walk in die then 70 kills boss... u can loot if u dont release spirit and if ur close enough.

This item's drop rate is like the Torturing Poker, if you want the ring and the poker for a rogue, start farming at lvl 20, the minimum lvl requirement for SM instances. Drop rates are *!@#ty because the ring is very very nice. Good for a caster in need of stamina. Good luck on getting this to everyone, got my Poker for my rogue, working on the ring now :)

Got this yesterday on my druid. Its hilarious flagrunning in WSG and seeing it proc on the people chasing me. I cant see what the enemy is saying, obviously... But if I had to guess, they were saying something along the lines of: "WTF DRUID FROSTNOVA?"

To farm, follow these instructions.

Clear the first hallway. Have the player who is trying to get the item stand at the end of the hallway. Change the loot to FFA.

Have the 70 walk to the end. If you are stealth, this will be super easy. If not, only clear what aggroes you as you are walking.

Engage Doan. Make him use his bubble, but don't kill him. Now turn around, and run back to where the lowbie is waiting. Kill Doan, have the lowbie loot. Run out, reset, and do it again.

On my 70 druid, I can do a run in about 3.5 to 4 minutes. When we get locked out, we just come back in an hour. Super easy...

But none of this improves the damn drop rate. >.<

My roomate 62 druid ran myself and his brother thru SM so I could get sword of omen quest reward and this dropped. I won roll against his brother, My very first epic. Told his brother you can have the next one...Haha...ran it again after I turned in quest for sword to get xp and try for shield for his brother. It dropped again, I couldn't believe it. So his brother got his and I think I'll go buy a lottery ticket now.

My aggro magnet level 26 hunter ran it almost exactly 66 times (plus or minus 2) to get this ring. This is not a joke. At an average rate of once every 9-14 minutes, almost daily, spread over about 3 weeks. I bribed 70s to run me, but I won't tell how much I paid.

My advice is to bring lots of seaforium charges if you're not a rogue. (I probably used about 30 of them) on chests. I also recommend you bring some lesser invisibility potion if you plan to run this for your twink, so that you can avoid aggro and exp gain when you turn a corner and see that your escort missed a guy.

A shaman helped me get it. I was most impressed with Paladins and Warriors. Hunters are good for escorting too. Don't go with a priest, or any clothie that isn't fully PvP specced or epic-outfitted. Also, don't let anyone escort you below level 65. They usually can't kill fast enough to get to Doan and then get you back out again without respawns getting in the way.

Got the ring after doing 66 runs for my rogue, man... i lost courage at some point i just wanted to quit wow.

But then 5 hours later i wanted to try it on my hunter and dropped on the second run, made me wonder how random droprates are. Definitly worth going after this ring :)

I kept getting frozen on my 26 pally when trying to kill a dwarf in wsg. So annoying...omg I want it. I'm getting my friend to run me through there till i get it mwahahaha...or until it's useless in which case i'll move on. None the less in PvP amazing no matter the class. In PvE probably better for casters, but not too bad for a warrior trying to get away to bandage himself. All in all the +10 stam makes it great for anyone. If you get it congrats, if not :(

I got this on my 4th try for my 29 hunter twink.. Since he's only 27 I cant really try it out yet. Get a friend with a high level rogue.. just kill first hall and have him stealth to boss.. Kill anyone that's just in the middle of the hallway. It will make it super easy. With my rogue I can stealth, kill about 9 people other than the first hallway.. pull the archamage all the way back with maybe only 1 more mob with him. Would it make sense to go after two of these for Flag Running or something so the proc chance increases? Well, the main thing that I'm asking is, will two rings increase the proc chance or just give you the proc chance of one ring and give you both stam increases?

hmm havent seen this before. Not much unlike the freezing band epic ring at lvl 47 that has a 1% proc rate and can be stacked with another ring.

But this proc effect sounds better.

My Real life friend and i were running each other's twinks for this ring and he didnt get it after 43 runs...i got it after 2.this ring pwns for everyone...casters i think find it a lil better but my fury twink war has it and ruins everyone.For any kind of twink,stam is beautiful. With a shield i have 2830 health unbuffed. LOVE IT!

So here I am just minding my own business and I'm on my level 35 NE Druid. So I'm just expecting the cloth Robe of Doan or Mantle of Doan, but to my suprise this level 29 epic ring drops. and its like my first time in this instance. I'm amazed at my find and a level 70 (my father) is running me through. He says I could have it and boom, A level 35 NE Druid with Deadman's Hand equipped

The armory labels this drop as having a 3%-14% drop rate, whatever that means but it averages to 8.5%. Anyway my friend and I recently both farmed for this and in total i think we probably did about 22 runs in total two get 2 rings.
2/22 = 0.09 so that's pretty consistent with what blizzard is suggesting.

How does this ring actually work? Does it have a lower proc rate VERSUS lvl 70s or is the proc rate lowered when its WORN by a lvl 70? Cause I could really use this to run Deadmines and some other crappy instances on my protadin.

I bet alot of you twinks using this one aren't going to be very happy after patch 2.4..
I quote patch notes: "Deadman's Hand: This item's effect now works while the victim is sitting. In addition, its effect is now properly considered a root for purposes of being dispelled or removed."

FYI, got it in less than 10 tries with one toon, we're at about 15 tries with another and haven't got it yet.

Also, with my fairly well pvp equipped feral druid (Destinkytwo) our attempts took about 5 minutes on average. With my brother's rogue (Decazzo) he had to clear more of the instance before he could drag Arcanist Doan toward the entrance without risking death.

Stealthed all the way through. Used all abilities and Major Health Pot. Key is to keep him attacking you on wall to the right and then when he does his fire ult sprint to the other wall. 3 CPs SnD w/ Blade Fury then SS / Reposte up to Evisc again and again once more. It was close but hey, it dropped first kill. And yes... it is tons of fun. Getting Green Whelp Armor for the sleep too!

This is an excellent ring for all classes specially in BGs or in world PvP while leveling. The proc is a real life saver if you're squishy like a caster. It also works with Shatter for frost mages (it's a free 3 second single target Frost Nova basically).

It dropped on my first Library run on one of my alts (I was mage). The druid bear tank insulted me for rolling need arguing it's "a tank item" (!). Not sure how rooting mobs randomly for only 3 seconds helps you tank better, but anyway don't get pressured by "noobs" to pass on items, if an item is useful for your character always roll need.

Dropped for me today on my Shaman, first time through the Lib instance. Forgot this existed, too bad I'm not planning that toon as a twink!

This definitely drops in TBC Classic. I got this on my 39 after 23 runs.

You can easily solo him as a 70 and leave your twink near the instance entrance. (I walked as far forward as I could without entering the first hallway with mobs, but could probably have stood right at entrance TBH). I made sure to pull Arcanist Doan outside of his room and into the next room so he was a little closer to the the entrance. Never had an issue with being too far to get loot, but I wasn't super scientific. Best of luck!

Yes this ring does drop on TBC Classic despite it not being added until 2.3 in original TBC which would be phase 3 of Classic. I couldn't find any confirmation of it dropping outside of the PTR before release (which is subject to change), but I just got it on my 70 hunter on live TBC Classic after 3 runs while testing to see if it dropped.

i got this way back on my 36 hunter, most of my friends were already 70 and were jealous and confused. we never knew this existed. today a guildie linked it and said he got it on his mage. i forgot about this ring and it brought back a ton of memories... still cant believe he got it haha

Can confirm I just got this today after roughly 7 lock outs or ~38 dungeons. The .5% drop feels a bit off and others I know have reported seeing it multiple times. Not really sure, expected to be here forever but just grateful I could snag my SM loot by level 25.
