Dual as hunter, gives your ranged atacks 252 penetration, so a good choice for cloth boss encounters if you cant reach 25 man (Hyjal drops got much more pene) and not wish to spend arena points on s3 (which got less penetration)

I think this is a good weapon, and a good counter to the "everybody, battlegrounds"-wave that has swept over the servers I play. Because you had to raid, OR you had to PvP to get good equiptment besides the "normal" heroics.

It's worth mentioning that this is probably a better choice for a tanking weapon than either the Sun Eater or King's Defender, and outside of Zul Aman there really arent any other options for a tank mainhander.

Whilst both the aforementioned SE and KD swords have better mitigation stats, this sword has competitive stamina with them, and what it loses in defense/armor/dodge it gains in raw dps and threat. This thing will output a lot more threat than either of those tank weapons, and with no sacrifice needed for stamina, I'd wager the big threat gains are worth taking over the defense.

There's so much awesome tank gear available via badges and such now that mitigation/avoidance/defense are really not difficult to get, whereas threat in tank gear is really only boostable via block value, expertise/hit, or a much better weapon. If I was a tank with KD or SE I'd likely let this sword go to a combat rogue first due to the lack of viable offhand swords for them, but otherwise I'd be snapping this up.

... it also looks brilliant. I did cry a little when they gave the rubbish Millennium blade such an awesome model. At least now there's a weapon worthy of those looks.

This is a blade that should always go to rogues or warriors before any other class, i don't care if it gives your hunter some nice stats, you don't depend on a melee weapon. Rogues and warriors does.

This is a perfect offhand weapon for a karazhan geared rogue, someone that doesn't have access to s2-s3/ssc-tk and above weapons.

Blizz sure is good at finding odd itemization holes to fill. Basically, if you're just doing Kara/Heroics and you're a DW class and prefer swords you had precisely squat for offhands unless you hit battlegrounds (not an option for those of us who loathe WoW's PVP, sorry).

Pair this with the Vindicator's Brand from Aldor rep or the Spiteblade from Netherspite in Karazhan and now you can finally have a good OH/MH combo without suffering any battlegrounds.

Yep, up until this the only fast offhand sword options outside of pvp were Latro's from BM, or recently with the addition of ZA Akil'zon's talonblade. Although if i had the talonblade I wouldn't take this one... so really only latro's.

This is from a combat rogue point of view, where faster offhand = better combat potency procs = more energy

Got this tonight on my rogue. Its a definite upgrade for a PVE offhand when compared to the season 1 OH. Also it sheaths on your back which is killer !!

I am AR/Hemo specced so the extra armor pen is always welcome. I noticed a big dps increase with this weapon equipped. Well worth farming it imo. GL.

A mage on the Official Mage Forums said he has this. As a fast sword with some good Stam, he has it macro'd with an Attack command. Whenever all cooldowns are up, both belligerents are at less than 3%, and you get one of those awkward staring moments, hit the macro to equip it and get those last one or two slices.

I think it's genius.

saw a fury warr with 2 of these babys, one with mongoose, one with executioner. isnt that gimping your dmg by having a quick wep in mh as well, although i bet the threat gen was immense :p

Fury Warrior with two of these clearly needs to rethink his class. Fury Wars need slower weapons, preferably same speed (roughly 2.6) in the Main Hand and Off Hand, especially due to recent patches.

I considered picking this up on my rogue as an offhand, to replace the S1. And according to various spread sheets, the Quickening Blade actually pulls ahead by a tiny amount in terms of MAEP, however, I'm not willing to lose the hit rating and unless you're nearly capped etc. (Which I HIGHLY doubt if you're using these weapons) I'd still take the S1 Off-hand over this.

im a fury warrior and have malchezzan(kara dagger) in my off-hand, would this sword be of better use ? im not too sure but i hear daggers arent the best choice for warriors

If you're min/maxing, then you want two slow weapons, preferably of the same speed for a fury warrior. This is due to the mechanics of Whirlwind. But if this was a significant dps increase over Malchazeen then I would use it instead. But it isn't, and Malchazeen has a higher average damage, so stick with it.

Now all we need is a 92dps 2.6 Speed Main hand Sword that drops from a Heroic or bought from BoJ's and it might actually be feasible to gear up a combat sword rogue without farming honor or buying BoE epics.

I think a bow from mgt would be nice, but with steelhawk crossbow from the first boss in kara what would be the point? it would probably be in heroic mgt if it did have a bow...and if you havent done the first boss at least a few times to get steelhawk, you have no business doing h mgt

personally i find this weapon is a great OH for a fury warrior combined with a slow wep in the MH. sure your WW is going to suffer a little bit from the recent patch but i find that with 2 slow weps i never have any rage, with a fast OH i have a more steady rate of rage generation so i can keep to my rotaion without a stall period.

fast or slow OH is really up to the player and really has no differance in dps output.

Makes a fine tanking weapon for Warriors who can't seem to make King's Defender drop. Higher threat than Sun Eater, so if you have both, I'd throw Mongoose on your Sun Eater, as it's an avoidance weapon, and put Executioner on your Quickening Blade, as it's a threat weapon.

If you are like me, and have bad luck with drop rates on both Sun Eater AND King's Defender, I would go with Mongoose - it's a great "middle of the road" enchant, as the 120 agility increases both dodge and crit rate.

To all the Warriors who can't get Sun Eater and King's Defender to drop: I feel for you. Put Mongoose on this weapon, as judging by my luck it will be awhile before you get something better (not to say this sword is a bad tank weapon...far from it!)

edit: It's now 4 months later 10/28/08, and I finally got an upgrade - Cleaver of the Unforgiving, from Zul'jin. So yeah, I had that Sword for 4+ months - definitely worth it. :)

Awesome tanking threat weapon with an Executioner enchant! I have had it for a couple of days now and love it. Small but nice speed improvement, too. My normal sustained threat per second increased about 10-12% versus Sun Eater with Mongoose. With this, it is 1.3-1.5 sustained with spikes to 1.9+k when my Gnomer trink is active.

A properly geared/gemmed tank at this level SHOULD (but usually doesn't) have all the avoidance (490+ def) and other stats on primary gear, leaving neck, rings, trinks, and sword flexible for whatever combination of stats they want for encounters.

So, if your gear/gems stats are right, then this is an AWESOME threat weapon. If your gear/gem combos suck, then this will suck, too.

This is nice, but I am using the offhand from ZA. Really wished Blizz would have made this a sword for the MH, I would look pretty cool with 2 swords crossed over my back =P. Using the Merc. MH right now. Hoping that Spiteblade will drop for my MH to go across my back =P

I have a question here, being fairly new to playing a rogue. With the "Ignores Armor" stat on this weapon, how would say this weapon compare to the 1.50 Swing ZA sword, Akil'zon's Talon Blade https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=33214/akilzons-talonblade with the Haste Rating stat? Would the Ignores Armor effect end up producing more DPS than the Talonblade with the Haste? I know that the Talon has more Low and High End Damage, but I guess what I was curious about was the amount of damage pick up the "Ignores Armor" stat would account for. Anyone have any idea which sword would account for higher DPS, given that someone had both of these weapons, each with Mongoose on it? (needless to say, I would be using either of the weapons in my off hand, no need to add in the damage reduction for the duel weilding penalty, I just want to know if the Ignores armor will result in more DPS. Thanks)

I got this on my hunter ONLY after, the rogue, paly tank (lock and mage didnt want) already had this it was an upgrade from my gladiator gear. this is NOT a hunter wep and if you are a hunter and you roll on this over any melee class, quit the game and life altogeather..

imo these are decent for hunters, BUT for armor pen. u only get its full benefit if u have ALOT of armor pen. my hunter dual wields these with +20agi on both (i have legacy w/ sav and s3 axe +35 agi to switch out need be) i recently invested in an "armor pen set" atm im at about 823 armor pen, its mostly badge stuff but its still sick dps, in this set of gear i hit approx 1350 dps wen we did TK last week, which is safe to say is very impressive dps, i was skeptical at first but armor pen adds up in the long run with enough of it. so one hunters 2 cents is they are pretty badass (WITH THE OTHER APPROPRIATE GEAR)

Well, seems there's alot of hunter bashing going on as usual =) Well all hate/love hunters, few have 'em as mains, all seem to have them for grinding. They just cant help being under the spell of "purple haze", as a thottbot poster once called it.

I am a hunter, and I have 2 of these beauties, with +20 agi on each. The ignore armor is really nice, I have atm 847(no T6 yet), maybe I'll get more in the future. Sometimes, just sometimes, a hunter needs to melee, but should really only be doing it if his pet looses aggro on what he's grinding. Then it can be fun to have dual weild. A 2h with 3.5 speed is rather dull, the speed of the 2 Quickening Blade of the Prince makes the grinding more fun.

In a raid a hunter should use a 2H(with +35 agi 'chant), not dual Quickening Blade of the Prince. Unless: the hunter does not have any better, ofc. Sometimes you just cant get better then what drops for you then and there. Or the hunter is survival, then 2 X +20 agi chants is rather nice.

Quickening Blade of the Prince dropped 2 times for me, 2 days in a row. Both times the tank did not want them, and neither did the casters. So I got them, without any hassle. Seen them drop 2 more times, they got DE'ed both times.

Breeching Comet might be better for a hunter, but its the ignore armor I am after, clothies go squish rather fast atm. I have seen Breeching Comet drop twice, first time I passed so a shaman could get it, second time my I got 1, the grp wanted me to have it, rather then DE'ing it, even if just to try it out.

It seems both the Quickening Blade of the Prince and the Breeching Comet drops often.

There is a tiny, tiny logic in having Executioner 'chant on them, even as a hunter. Atm I would then get 1687(proc has a 15 second duration, does not stack) in ignore armor. In melee. Might be good those times(in pvp) an undead "frostmage" freezes you to the ground and walks up to mock you =). But, hehe, it's also rather !@#$%^ed "wasting" mats worth 5-600gold for each 'chant (AH) on them, even as an enchanter, when a friendly tank or rogue could need that Executioner 'chant.

Though it would be fun to try it out.

Start yelling at your hunter friends when u see that they have wasted Executioner 'chant(s) on 1 or both of these swords, and not for having 2 items that can drop in 1 MgT Heroic run.

Edit:
A friend of mine said that 126 ignore armor is like an extra +20 agi 'chant? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
