Can this open lock boxes or locked chests?

Seaforium Charges are used to blow open locked doors, higher ranks of charge to blow higher level doors. Ranks (Eng. level) are Small (100), Large (200), and Powerful (275). As of 2.1, they will be able to open locked chests, but still not lockboxes.

With the 2.1.0 patch, Seaforium Charges can now be used to unlock locked chests as well as locked doors. Though not yet tested by myself, I am assuming that the level of the area/instance the locked chest is in will determine how powerful a charge will be needed to unlock it. For example, a small seaforium charge will probably be fine for unlocking a chest in the Deadmines, a large seaforium charge would be necessary for a chest found in the Scarlet Monestary, and a powerful seaforium charge would be needed for a chest in Stratholme.

Small charges will open Iron Lockboxes, but not Mithril. I don't know about Strong Iron Lockboxes.

They won't open the door to SM-Armory or SM-Cath, but can open any chest therein.

Not a bad idea to carry one or two in case you're not partied or near a (willing)rogue, so you can open that lockbox or locked chest/door.

I am not sure how useful this is yet. It can't blow open locked chests, which is kind of dumb. I haven't found a locked door yet (level 25).

As stated in the guide from Blizzard it should be used on boxes, only the tooltip states different.

Cant believe Blizzard creates this useless item with the name c4ium. Anyone tried it on a practicelock? Maybe something to do with skills?

Im a 59 Rogue engineer, Large Seaforium charges can be used to open alot of doors that require keys which must be attained through quests. The Seaforium Charges can open doors in Black Rock Depths, and any door Requiring a Scarlet Key. They cant open boxes, but you can get them opened free in Ironforge no problem.

There are a few Doors in SM that need a key im sure u can open them in there

This is one of the greatest recipes to have to level up your engineer quickly and cheap. It stays yellow and green close to 140 skill (longer than all the other 100 level things) and these are super cheap to make.

Per the 2.10 change notes, can now open locked chests.

"Seaforium now opens locked chests as well as locked doors."

Yep just used this for the first time today on a reinforced iron lockbox worked and made 30s

This will work up to lockpicking(125). Does anyone know if it will work higher than that?

The engineering skill required to use the charge is the equivalent lockpicking skill to use when determining which lock can be opened with each charge.

I am a lvl 70 and have all the charges one can think of and it is simple to blast open any lockbox or door with the right charge so have fun

Blowing up chests with this stuff reminds me of a quote from "The Italian Job" with Michael Caine ........... "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!", as his explosives expert blows a van to smithereens.

Not sure the contents of any chest would survive a blasting with this stuff :o) lol

Anyways, it opens doors, I haven't seen any locked doors yet, but I know of some.

There's one in SM, that I know of... but not high enough level to go in there. /cry

Why hasn't anyone commented on the brilliant name of this stuff. The first time I saw it, I was laughing so loud, my GF stopped watching some girl series to come and watch.

Is there a list somewhere of locked doors?
I'm lvl 38, and I have yet to find a locked door. But I can make these charges, so i'd really like to use them.

From my experiments, this charge will open a iron lockbox(Regular, don't know for sure about strong iron lockboxes), but not steel. I have never had a rogue, so I don't know what levels that corresponds too.

I have also opened a Small Waterlogged Chest (this one found in Ashenvale in the area of Zoram Strand.

In gnomereon there are several locked doors, but i haven't tried using this on them yet. I know rogues can pick the locks.

It would be nice if it opened chests (it should), but it only appears to open doors. I would suggest handling your door opening needs as follows:

1. Make a note of which doors worked with each level of charges as you find them.

2. Carry a small seaforium charge when you can make one, and when you run into a locked door, try it out. If it works, great; otherwise, bring a large one next time and it should work.

3. Carry a large seaforium charge when you run into doors needing it. When you find one that doesn't work (like DM tribute run), bring a powerful one next time. It should work.

4. You could carry one of each size and try them from small to powerful, but generally you will probably have a good idea of which size you need based upon the level of the area.

5. Remember to bring the right charge from your notes when you go someplace.

6. Update the forum with a list of doors and the size of charges needed for everyone so they don't have to figure it out in the future.

I have opened simple lockboxes and chests with these since 2.1 patch. I would love to hear how high of a lockbox you could open with this.

You can open the door in DM without use of the Defias Gunpowder with this. For anyone that wanted to know, like i did :)

Wowpedia reports that you can open the Defias Gate in Deadmines and the Workshop door in Gnomeregan.
