It's for show. If you look at the tab at the top of this page that says "Same model as (27)" under type it says "Off hand frill." So you can safely sell it for junk.

Apparently at some point there was a quest for this, because if you mouse over the item in game, it has class set at quest. Either that or else it's a subpart of a quest that has something else as the main quest item. I've seen that happen on other items I sold for junk, but not very many.

I caught one in Darkshore, doing the Electropellers quest.

The whole idea with off-hand fish is that you can show them off to other players, although it would be awesome if you could slap people with them...

Similar to me only I did the same thing in Org yesterday. In a 10 minute period, I caught two 17-lb's and one 19-pound, with the first 17 and the 19 being about 4 or 5 casts apart. Caught another 19 pounder today after only a couple of minutes of fishing.

Is there actually any real use for these things?

I caught one in Stormwind yesterday, but it got away. Not really! I did catch it on 5lb line, sucker took me half hour to play it into the net.

But what can you do with it? Nothing! Just taking my catch to a Vendor for 1 Silver, not a bad price considering most ordinary fish sell for 20 copper for 20.

Considering it's freshly caught, the damn thing is rather stiff when held in the off hand, perhaps its mortified at being caught.

I just caught one of these and I couldn't sell it to a vendor. I got an error message "vendor does not want that item." When I tried to auction the thing I got "can't auction item with used charges." I didn't equip the item at all. What gives? Is this a bug or the new way to nerf an item?

i dont know if u can, but it would be funny as he11 to put an enchant to make it glow. and it is a good way to put enchants on off hands for nonrogue twinks and locks. i think ill try it...

Sounds like you guys are having problems with the catfish...i the meat cleaver and the catfish everytime i cook, but i don't know its real purpose i think it is a trophy of some sort who knows?

I marathon levelled my fishing (took it from 282 to 375 in about 7 hours) and caught like 4 of these, a bloated mudsnapper with a shadowgem in it, a few potions...

I thought it was cool at first, now I have 4 of them taking up too much space in my bags - checked the AH - selling for 15s on Hyjal right now...

I was hoping there would be a recipe for cooking them, like the Huge Spotted Feltail used in the Fisherman's Feast, but I guess there's not.

On my lvl 21 troll hunter i got this im fishin deviate fish for my main in The Barrens ROAR.

If u want money!get lvl 100 fishin and go to the sea close to Wailing Caverns!There u can fish deviate fish.When u get 80 deviate fish go to Orgrimmarand say in Trade Channel :Sellin Devitate Fish 10 gold stack (20 in one stack)u do that in 15 min if no one wanna buy put it on Auction

I found one in the Barrens pond while fishing deviates on Alleria....my auctioneer says it's worth 75999G roflmao, must be botched data from some noob posting it waaaayy too high....cool, though...doesn't rly look all that big....like 5ib., maybe. It should be like Qeul'Serrar size or something (name of that is probably spelled wrong)
