This is an excellent twinkweapon for any melee class. It provides high crits due to its low speed. On most servers I have seen this item from 50gold to 150gold.
I wouldn't advise you to pay more than 100g for it, as you can find better ones.

The rogues that do the most damage in less time are Dagger Rogues. If you want to finish clothies in 2 hits, and like to go unoticed with stealth most of time, try going Subtelty. If you can afford, get Torturing Poker from SM: GY, with help from a High Level friend. Crusader on it, and get Vendetta too as posted above with a +15 Agility.
This sword is only good for Hunters because of the stats. And the WSG Dagger goes nicely aswell - both with +15 Agility.

This is NOT the best twink Hunter weapon as previously stated. Archeus (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=2000) with the Savagery enchant is, although it is Alliance only.

Great weapon for sword rogues. If you're not using backstab you want a slower main hand for greater burst dmg, and with the dps on this, it's well worth it. Dagger rogues might be "the best" in whoever's opinion, but I love my combat swords build and will be looking for this to make it better.

Sword rogues are great for leveling 1-70, but as soon as you reach 70 you should get the pvp/arena daggers so you can pawn noobs

Regardless of stats on it, this blade still rocks for a levelling dualwielding warrior (not even talking about pvp here) because of its slow speed. Rage from two weaps + fury rage gains + mash Slam = win, until you get better attacks to use.

(And, btw, warriors do get +crit from agi. No, noone goes for agi at 70. But good luck finding stuff with lots of +crit at 26.)

If you want the best sword, ( if you have the money for full gear enchanments ) is the zealot blade. It has the highest hit making your SS hit HARD, then you would want the highest dps weapon you could find being torturing poker. THOUGH, you might as well just go full ambush and pick up Claw of the Shadowmancer as your MH. SS rogues with full gear are very good, but ambush is probably a little better in this bracket.

To many people on here are saying that this is a random world drop...IT IS NOT A RANDOM WORLD DROP! It is a random *static* drop. In other words, it randomly drops in constrained area (The Scarlet Monestary), NOT all over the world. A random world drop is something like Kang the Decapitator (it can drop in any location that has mobs within it's lvl range). You will never see this drop anywhere outside the Scarlet Monestary, and anyone that says different is smoking something, a newb, or just stupid.

The best way to get this sword if you are **really** interested in getting it is to farm the graveyard in SM (the far left instance). Just play through that instance over and over, killing everything in there and looting EVERY chest. You'll need gold skeleton keys or will have to have a decently high lock picking skill as a rogue in order to open them, because most of them are locked chests. If you do that, eventually you'll get one of these, and you wont have to pay 120g to get it. On top of that, by the time you do get it, you'll probably have pocketed 120g if you are smart about selling your stuff on the AH.

The prime level to do this at is @ lvl 60 of course, but you can clear the graveyard solo @ lvl 37+ if you know what you're doing. Some people can clear the graveyard @ even lower levels, but it takes a decent amount of skill and time to do that.

This is a rare drop in SM it can drop in evrey part people who say it can drop in SFK are sick becuas it cant! (in SFK drops only assasins blade shadowfang night reaver and some others)

AND DONT ENCHANT IT and then try to sell it people wont see it and there will be like phew butchers on ah like this

Emm...was runing Scarlet Monastery at level 37...droped da Butcher in 2 runs xD. That was pure luck, went to SM like 200 times (boosting etc.)-->never droped more...(for me)

Blizzard once again messed up on this... Unfettered spirits are the most common holders of this BoE sword, and they aren't elites (Very easy to kill) AND they respawn in a decent amount of time. So no need to run out and reset. Infinite amount of kills of these in a hour instead of running it five times and holding your breathe then waiting for an hour to pass.

got it on a SM cath run this mornin.. my friend ran me through and i let my real life friend tag alonglvl 29 so we had to walk =/... anyway he was dead.. loot was free for all and we just picked up every other loot so i got one had the butcher lol was shocked because of drop rate too. put it up in AH after hearthing later on sold in a few hours for 100g buyout... 5g taken away from the AH cut. =/ . puts me up to 540g lol for a 36 who makes all his own money except for 35g gift =)
BTW i think it dropped of a champion centurion or monk, it was close to the boss guy through the cath doors.

Well...i just got the butcher a couple nights ago while my friend was running me through for a quest...i was so surprised. I got feet of the lynx around lvl twenty and decided that i would sell them cheap. (sold for twenty gold! yay!) and then i was in RFD and i had a mage and a warlock running me through...the mage would go and kill everything and i missed looting one mob cuz the lock killed it and i didn't notice. i was on my way out of the instance and i looted it and BAM zealot blade. just sold zealot blade for 55g and looking to sell the butcher. Im thinking around like 80g for butcher...would love to get more but 80-90g would be nice.

My main is a 59 Hunter, but I have a level 23 Rogue alt I've been enjoying alot. I've been trying to find this weapon at a reasonable price for a long time to use with the Rogue.

I finally gave up on trying to catch a good price and hit SM with my Hunter. This dropped from a Diviner on the way out of the Library. I can't believe I actually got the item I went for. My luck usually sucks and I wind up with a load of leather "of the Whale" crap, but not this time.^^

A guildie friend was running me through SM to get some silk so I could get a NE tiger for my dwarf before I was 40, and one of these dropped off a hound. He was like let's go back and kill the houndmaster's hounds to get another one, and I was like "dude, let's not waste time." He insisted, and ran back and killed the hounds, and what do you know...ANOTHER ONE DROPPED! WTFFFFFF? Not even a different blue, but the same damn thing. WOW! What are the odds?

Looted it on free for all. lvl 70 guildie took a few friends to SM and I tagged along. He set loot to free for all. XD Im glad a bought swift potions before XD. I was planning on doing BG's. I managed on getting a Zealot Blade ,and the Butcherer. And a few other BoE blues.

I did SM very much times... And guess what, i never saw the Butcher dropped. I try to get it with my rogue for my warrior, But the dps is also not really good. You can better try to buy the Protector's Sword Thats much better dps and cheaper

I bought my Butcher for 15g on Burning Legion. I'm Very Happy now, but I'm looking for second dagger... Without Backstab and Ambush its not fun to play rogue.
