The monsters here are rather tough for their level, so grinding and questing here can be pretty tough. I would recommend going to the Wetlands instead and perhaps completely avoiding Duskwood until around level 28.

Quest Guide To Duskwood by FeargusMcDuff. Made for levels 23 to 26 Shaman.

(Required : One Copper tube and One Stormwind Seasoning Herbs)
PART ONE
If you arrive from Redridge(north east) and head southwest to Darkshire,remember to set hearthstone. it is a good idea to pick up the quests "Delivieries to Sven, Seasoned Wolf Kabobs", "The totem of affliction", "The Hermit", "Raven hill", "The legend of stalavan", "Look to the skies" and "The night watch". It Is best to head south, to Tranquil gardens cemetery and compleate "The Night Watch" and "Look to the skies".
Head back to Darkshire, hand compleated quests, and and pick up "The Night Watch" and "Look to the skies".

PART TWO
Head west, and follow the path to the night watch camp located in west to dead central Duskwood and pick up quest "Eight legged manaces". Continue west along the path to Raven Hill. Talk to Jitters, who is just off the path that leads to Raven Hill, and hand In the quest "Raven Hill" and pick up "Jitters growling Gut". Head north east and find Abercrombie who Is just up a hill east of Raven Hill. On the way you should kill mobs for "The night watch". Once you are at Abercrombie you should hand in quests "The Hermit" and pick up "Supplies from Darkshire". Head west In an arc to avoid the higher level mobs, unless you are cabable of killing them, to find Lars. Pick up quest "Wolves at our heels".Sven Is right net to Lars, hand in quest "Deliveries for Sven".
You now have three quets that involve killing wolves and spiders, compleate them.
Hearthstone.

PART THREE
You will now be In Darkshire, hand in quests "The Night Watch, "Seasoned Wolf Kabobs","Jitters growling gut" "Supplies from Darkshire and If you have compleated it, "The totem of afflication". Pickup quests : "Look to the skies", "Ghost hair thread", "The night watch" and "Dusky crab cakes".

PART FOUR
Head south east, to a place north of Tranquil Gardens Cematary, and find Blind Mary. Hand In quests "Ghost Hair Thread" and "Look to the stars". Pickup quests "Look to the stars" and "Return the comb". Head back to Darkshire, hand In "Return the comb" and pickup "Deliver the thread".

PART FOUR
Head back to Raven Hill, If you see any spiders, kill them. Find Abercrombie again and hand In "Deliver the thread",pickup "Zombie Juice" then head west and compleate "The night watch". If you still have not compleated "Dusky Crab cakes" or "The totom of affliction" - do it now, there are zombies in raven hill and spiders by the river and to the very west of Duskwood. Once these quests are done, Hearthstone and hand In "Zombie juice", "The totem of affliction", "Dusky Crab cakes" and "The Night watch"

PART FIVE (Optional)
You should have a few quests left over, I diddn't compleate them but If you are stuck or want to stay In the wonderous Duskwood, compleating them Is but a trip to Raven Hill away. If you stick with the Svens revenge questline and The legend of Stalavans questline, you should eventualy find your way In the Wetlands, a good place to move next.

The first time "I" came to Duskwood I didn't know there was a little camp with Sven and that other guy to give you quests.

He's obviously for the whol Stalvan chain quest. But besides it's intimidating exterior, Duskwood is a good grinding place if you are looking for regeants and some great gear. Plus, if you decide Redridge is to overwhelming then you can just move here around lvl 25-28'ish.

Duskwood is the main reason i choose Alliance over Horde. The questlines are all amazingly fun, give great xp, and are really easy to do for the most part. If you come here around a lower level, like around 20-22, it can be a little daunting but if you bring a friend along the same level it makes for some great fun.

The Black Riders are an obvious nod to the Nazgûl from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy of books. Both are dark and evil beings referred to as "Black Riders" or "Dark Riders", they both speak harshly and shrilly, they both have the power to communicate with an immaterial being designated as "the Lord" (the Warcraft Black Riders' use of a "trinket" to communicate with their master is probably a reference to the Palantír stones used in Lord of the Rings) and seek a specific ancient cursed "tool" of great power (the Scythe of Elune and the One Ring) with which they have an intristic bond but which had been previously discovered in a cave by a previously insignificant male character who knew nothing of the artifact's true properties ("Jitters"; Bilbo Baggins).

This place is great for miners. Espeacialy for those looking for Iron. I myself took a trip around the Twilight Grove and found several Iron and Tin veins along with some Silver veins. Beware of the Worgons though.

there is a little trail that goes from the road but really i dont know how to get there i only saw a friend do that on her 27 rogue but if u try to kill it dont even bother he is still a double ? to 70s'

but duskwood was my fav. place to lvl from 20-30 it only took me between 2-4 days to do so

there is also a road that goes east at Darkshire but if u follow it it will lead u to a horde tower thing and the guard are lvl 65 i think im not sure just a wild guess they were double ? to me (it is also close to Beggars Haunt)

Theres such a huge problem when i go to the emerald dream portals, i go to each one and theres no dragons i sometimes go there when it just hit 3:00 am and no dragon! before WotLK came out these dragons were here ALL the time!

I can honestly say that this is the first zone that ever made me jump.

When I was leveling up my first character (a paladin), I was walking and all the sudden a black widow spider came out from behind a tree and as a result of the hissing the spider made, plus the darkness and the tree that hid the spider so well, AND the haunted theme music, I jumped.

This is an amazing questing zone as said before, with many quests that the Horde in equivalent zones (Hillsbrad, Thousand Needles etc) cannot match.

For druids without a mount who have Glyph of Aquatic Form, you can use the river up north as a "freeway" from Raven Hill to Darkshire and vice versa.

why do the alliance get 3 "contested" zones with no horde flight point or neutral flight point (duskwood, redridge, and wetlands) but the horde get 0?

I mean there i even the neutral town of rachet IN THE BARRENS.

THey should move booty bay from gankthorn to westfall just to give you allies a taste of your own medicine.

I forget the name of the book but is you go to the Scarlet Monestary and enter the right instance, go to the very end right before you have to fight Doan, on a table to the right there is a book that you can read, it gives you a description of where that portal came from and why duskwood is so gloomy. It has something to do with Orcs and Undead er sumthing. Hope i lent some assistance.

Fairly obvious now, but for those who don't know yet, this is one of the four enterence trees into the Emerald Dream, the realm of the green dragon flight. There are now going to be four dragons added in patch 1.8, one at each of the locations with one of these portals. Will we ever be able to use the portals to go into the emerald dream? Have to wait and see, but I'd say its likely to happen sometime in the future.

If you read the Burning Crusade and Blood Elves pages you will notice it states Quel'thalas as a starting zone. This isn't in the Outlands. The Outlands sounds like level 60+ only, which would make it a bad place to put a starting zone...

Everyone is right. The dragon is there, sometimes it isn't. Before you go and tell somebody to open their eyes and quit being blind, do some research. I'm a 60 (Alliance Human War) now, but I came through Duskwood (obviously) and wanted to know what was in the middle of the map, and I saw not a damn thing. I visited later at 42 (got whacked by the dragon), 50 (no dragon) and 54 ( dragon killed me). It's a random world boss spawn, so quit putting other people down for saying what they did or did not see.

And, although this has nothing to do with this thread, I want to throw this in; unless a weapon says "Class: X," it's not a "rogue" or a "warrior" or a "hunter" or whatever weapon. If you think somebody that shouldn't roll against you, does, even after the party has talked about it, roll against him of course. If you lose, tought freaking luck, it's a game. Every weapon I try to look at the stats for has a 20 page long pissing contest about whether it's a rogue, hunter, warrior or paladin weapon. How about discussing something useful, as opposed to why somebody else shouldn't roll for it?

All you need to know. The spawn time is a couple of days after you kill it. Thats why some people see it and some people cant at certain times. My guild farms him for his epics. Usally when one spawns a bunch of other guild comes and trys to kill them to. He drops alot better gear than just whats on the sample list

At level30 me and my m8 (both level 30 hunters with tigers) set our pets on him and pegged it round him- it was Emeriss at the time, we got to the portal and jumped through.... nothing happened :P :(

Well the dragons name Lethon and he is in the center of duskwood, in the cyclic mountain-surrounded place (see map) which appears to be called twiglight grove. Well i approached him wth my lv45 pala and still couldnt see his lv... probably 60... I was told he is a raid dragon... just in order to get in u must do some zig-zag stuf from the bottom, just if you were wandering :)

As a 23 NE Drud i was able to prowl around avoid dragon and i got in portal (don't ask me how it worked but it did) so once im in portal...nothin but if u notice when u try to jump off the sides of the portal u cant because theres the 'blizzard inviso feild' theres missin info...... wait 4 BC. try again

have a theory. im a rookie so havnt seen everything.
seems there is scattered info on the Dragonkin. what ive seen of late, Ysondre guards a portal in central Duskwood. if the previous poster is correct about making it to the portal but nothing happened then is it possible a combination of things need to be done for entrance. ive played alot of RPG's and puzzles are a main part in most.
According to reports, there are 4 portals, without admittance, and 4 dragonkin guarding them. the "dreamers" are on the other side or info about Malfurion Stromrage. is it possible that the guardians need to be slain at the same time for the portals to open? seems plausable to me. it would be a great feat to accomplish. theres no telling where the story would lead from there. good or bad.

I was in duskwood an dwent through it and came out the otherside. You just see the other side of the portal. Blizzard probably will add the Emerald Dream in later expansion or patch.

OK, this is the story behind the dragon, there are 4 dragons of nightmare (5 if u count boss), one of them is in duskwood, Malfurion Stormrage who is trapped in the emerald dream is fighting the "boss" of the nightmare dragons. They are the ones behind Nozdormu's crazy time warps and the quests in the cavern of time.

I was just wandering around Duskwood looking for things to skin, when I came across the path into Twilight Grove.

Using my Eagle Eye (hunters, you can do the same!)

I could get close to the dragon, without him seeing me....

The one I saw was a beautiful beast, blue and green. And massively majestic.

He simply floats around, protecting what looks like a nightelf area, similar to the area in Ashenvale, but the dragonkin in Ashenvale are no where near as impressive as Taerar

Alliance FP is 77,44. Just west of darkshire proper. There isn't a horde FP. For most ppl, elite dragons are just things to avoid.

Well,I came with my DK and he was gone an earlier I came with my druid he was gone...I guess your right about him being a respawn.But I got to explore all of twilight grove i came in the portal again LOL I was scared to come out I was like what if it spawns when I come out I ended up hearhing anyways for a Dungeon but I do not know why and what is he in that place for.Is he just for raids or something or just something to stare at?I have had my hunter eagle eye to him and got real close.I have seen the ghost dragon and Lethon...So far...I have tried quite some times to Beast Lore it,but I always felt like I was too close= P Man when I get a chance I am beast loring that thing!

This area is geared towards level 23-30 players. Higher or lower is slow leveling.

The only building here is a ruins of a tower, a little bit north of the path to Deadwind Pass (lv 56 monsters south of the main road). There are 2 Undead here, Horde Friendly, who give quests. the Deathstalker Zraedus gives a quest to talk to the Apothecary Faustin standing next to him. The Apothecary gives the "Nothing But The Truth" quest (lv 42 Elite), one part of which includes killing the Deepstrider Giant (Lv 39 elite) in Desolace.

This portal looks like the one in Ashenvale ... only without the dragon guards.
My guess is that it is another entrence to the Emerald dream, just like the one in Ashenvale, only without the dragons not implanted yet.

I went to the Twilight Grove not knowing what was up there, of course. And yes, I saw a green dragon! I would like to know her name. I saw her name but when I saw lvl ?, I just started to run away..hahahaha! so I forgot her name. When you go there everything looks so pretty, so looks can really deceive you.

My brother showed me the Twilight Grove in Duskwood. I thought it was interesting. My brother's character was lvl 26 at the time and when he went through the portal nothing happened, he just came out the other side. We thought that u have 2 be a certain lvl so I got my lvl 61 to go to the twilight grove, nothing was near it. I stepped up to the portal and went through and I just came out the other side like my brother.

I decided to do some research and so I asked my dad (the WoW genius). He said last time his character went to the grove he was a lvl 23 and he couldn't even see the portal because he saw a HUGE green dragon in the way. He didn't stop to see the dragons name because it was ? so he ran b4 he was seen. Apparently the dragons only spawn every month.

PLZ tell me wats behind the portal, PLZ tell why the dragons spawn every month, PLZ tell me wat lvl the dragons are. I NEED THE INFO!

On about october 13th there was a dragon there that must have been like level 70+. Its name is Ysondre. I went to Ironforge and recruited people. the word got around and within 20 mins or so we had a full raid group of 40. He wiped us all within 4 mins. He hits for 2500+ and has Aoes that are damage over time. He is not immune to fire or arcane spells. We never got him down past 90% life b4 being wiped.

In Twilight Grove there's something that looks a lot like a portal. The architecture is similar to the Night Elven lands. Anyone know what it is?

40 man raid 11 tries. We discovered that you couldn't fight it like a normal monster, seeing as it 3 shots the tanks. We ended up devoting 21 rogues/pallies just to keeping it stunned, with about 10 priests rezzing tanks during so. I was the only hunter.

I made it into the portal .. there is a green dream stone you pick up on the orge mound. that you give to the dragon and she lets you through

A druid told me to check out the grove but to keep my distance.
At the time I was level 28 or so.
I stealthed to the past the dragon wich was GREEN and I tryed to enter the portal but I just walked right thru it... nothing.
I desided to be brave and check the stenght of the dragon, I tok up my bow and gave him a volley, I missed! the huge thing belive it or not, not very fun..
I checked my Combat log and it had hiten me for 3500+ crushing.lol I tryed!¨
One day I will be "Manweh the Dragonslayer!"

HIS name is taerar he has 3890 dmg(not critical)+ mass dmg every time he hits ;)he can only be killed by 20 tanks 32 healers and 20 hunters and casters SEE ya on stormreaver(look for schredder);)

the portal is fake the portal is made for the dragon to respawn when he respawns he get's out from the portal so LOOK OUT :)) he might be behind you

Ok... realize one thing... YOU HAVE TO READ AROUND inorder to find something out... you cant just ask one place.

It is a Portal Not yet Implemented that Goes to the Emerald Dream (We think...) because Emriss (the World Dragon that is useually there) Is one of Ysera's Lt's

along with 3 (or 4) other World Dragons... I will leave it up to you all to find the whole story... it was quite easy for me to find.

BTW... a Fully Geared 30 man Raid can do it... but they've got to be lucky and skilled as hell... and Have downed Even Illidan a Few times... (Full T6 much?)

I believe the dragon was one of the old dragons who was known as the dreamer. His original name was Ysera the dreamer. SHE placed an enchantment on the world tree that link all hybernating druids to her enchanted dreams. I wouldn't mess with her if I were you.

Level 26, I'm running through Duskwood with my succubus. I send the Eye of Kilrogg ahead to check things out and everything seems normal. So I go running in to play around. After about 5 minutes I think hey- maybe I should see what that portal is for, and I look it up.

I see "dragon" and "40 person raid wiped out" and I ran out.

There was no dragon, maybe they removed it? I don't know, but in the event that he's just on a break, I'm not going back in.

I have a couple toons on a rp server, and Shadeh is the name of my Night Elf hunter on a normal server. Just setting up personal experiance with this thing... First experiance: on Shadeh, when I was around lvl 40 getting human rep so I could get a horse, I stumbled accross this place. I thought it was very strange. it was completely empty except for Night Elvish structures and a green portal that appeared to do nothing. Experiance two: Later (20+ lvls later can't remember exactly) Someone in Stormwind was getting a raid together to kill a dragon. I decided, sure why not. Our raid got owned. I got sick of the mushrooms and the stupid disease that the thing gave us, stupid pug couldn't get a plan down to kill the dragon. From then on, I would not go back to the grove because I have no idea what spawns it. Experiance three: I did Recruit a Friend with my cousin and I started a toon with him on a rp server, we joined a guild together, he was a heal spec druid, I was a tank druid. our rp story was we were orphan sisters and stuff...at lvl 16 our gl was planning a guild meeting spot for rp. She came accross empty Twilight Grove. She was talking about it in guild chat and I said that was a bad idea. But all three of us looked around the grove and found nothing. And if what I read about the dragon spawning from the portal, our guild meeting is gonna get wrecked. With all of this, I decided to look up the lore for it. Since I play my druid as wise druid who only speaks Darnassian, otherwise it's mute and emotes, I decided I should know the lore of the mysterious green portal and the dragon. Here's basically what I read.

The portal goes to a realm called the Emerald Dream. The Dragon that spawns around there is some kind of guardian that works for one dragon, Ysera (can be found in Northrend, her eyes are always closed). There are portals like this in ashenvale, hinterlands, feralis, and of course, duskwood. Very brief discrption of what I found, but I hope it helps someone. Also, xforcer's post is accurate, though, I'd like to confirm the portal (which only the dragons can use) goes to the Emerald Dream.

Believe this or not but the Dragon was bugged once.
I ran in there just to find him with ZERO hp (or 1 hp) but still standing...
So i toke out my Crossbow and BAM ! 1 shot 1 KILL
But the loot was crappy anyways !

Roland's Doom is a cave in the southern center of Duskwood. Jitters mentions it in the course of the "Sven's Revenge" quest line, and also mentions the Scythe of Elune. This could be a lead into a future part of the story, or it may just be a tease. In any case, if you go to Roland's Doom, be ready to face Worgen Vile Fangs (level 29-30) and Tainted Ones (level 30-31) in groups; it can be a rough place to visit if you're alone and unprepared.

Don't be fooled by wowhead saying it's for levels 10-30. It's not. The first quest is level 18. Don't go there until you're at least level 18.

There is a Tin Vein at 34, 77 that it seems can't be mined, like it's inside of one of the rocks outside the entrance to Vul'Gol Ogre Mound. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?
