Excellent starter set for warriors.

Suggested for those who are in smaller guilds that cannot run higher than zg or aq20, easily attainable through 5 and 10 man dungeons.

Upgradable to the dungeon set two, Heroism.

A few Tips/Facts about the Valor Set:

-An easy set to get because all you need to do is run 5, 10 Man Pug's(Pick up Groups), but its not that great for tanking, or dps even. Better than the greens new 60's will have though.

-Upgrading to Heroism is a long and expensive process, but if you have the time, and money...and DONT run ZG/MC then go for it.

-If your starting MC dont even bother with this set, go straight for blues with +defense/dodge chance on it...it is much better til you get your tier 1 peices. There are also alot of ZG peices that are great for warriors.
(Ex/ Aegis of blood god, bloodlords defender/Bloodsoaked peices)

This is the warrior's tier 0 set. It can be upgraded to the heroism set known as the tier 0.5 set. This set really isn't for tanking, but I guess if you just hit 60 it is better than what you have for tanking/dps so you might want to use it.

If you're thinking of raiding with your warrior (Molten Core+) you shouldn't upgrade them. If you did, your armor would be easily replaced and you would think (why did I do that) because you basically just threw away tons of gold which could've been used for something even better. In fact, with the gold you use to upgrade I believe you can buy your two tier 1 BoE's on your server which are a LOT better for tanking. (This is depending on your server prices though)

For the actual valor set, I would say it is an alright set to get just to replace those greens that you were using before.

This is a good pre-60 set and can be found easily high lvl 5 and 10 man instances (Scholo, Strat, BRS).
Most people dont Upgrade to tier 0.5, heroism, as it can be very expensive and time consuming.

Yeah this set is as random as lightforge really. I mean the cost of gold to get this stuff from the AH will put you a few hundred gold in the hole unless you have a lot of waiting to do looking for cheap prices. On my server Zangarmarsh bracers from either sets can be found for more than 50g a piece. This is an extreme rip off cause u dont need it. bye the time u get the complete set ur gonna be in outlands getting gear for lvl 58 from outlands that kicks blue gear from azeroth ass. look it up i have Doombringer as a sword now then go over and look at some outlands gear and you will see the big diff. I find that it's more wise for both warr and pally to invest in imperial and then get some good outland greens. My advice is stay away from sets like lightforge, valor, soulforge, heroism, and lawbringer and just invest in some crap till u get to outlands. Warrs rule. Pallas also rule with imperial and a good 2h wep like Doombringer till lvl 58 then the outlans stuff kicks in.

what would make some sense, Blizzard should make all this old stuff BOE that way people could get some gear for alts, and give it to them I never see people going into these instance's anymore it would give people a reason to use the old instance for something.

Yes the Valor set doesn't say 'For a Warrior'. Sure, there is nothing that says a Paladin shouldn't use it. But I think its fairly clear who it is intended for.

Everyone really gets a blue set from instances. I don't remember who gets what, but its basically one really cool instance drop set for everyone.

Lightforge is for Paladin. You can say it sucks and that you prefer Valor. Or that you think poorly of it, or whatever. But...it is indeed for Paladins.

Warriors shouldn't roll on Lightforge, and I don't know any who do. But if there isn't any paladin's then why not? The same goes for Valor. Its more intended for Warriors even if you want it.

I know at the end of game everyone really doesn't care and its perfectly intent with just getting more stuff, stuff stuff idea, since there isn't any more leveling. And the main reason you shouldn't roll cause its inconsiderate, not because you can't use it.

And everyone saying how this isn't a damage set for warriors. Well its not. We are tanks. Thats what we do, like it or not. And if you want a damage set, there is a very nice pvp set that you can get from gainning ranks in that. Which is more or less the same thing. But at the end of the day, you get a 1h weapon, a shield and you tank. That's it. That's your purpose in life, so to speak. So more or less get over it.

I find it amusing that Paladins are here DEBATING about how they should use this. Having seen Paladins roll this stuff away from Warriors, I have to say, you would get booted and blacklisted to the best of my ability for rolling this away from a warrior. Now, if the warrior PASSES, then hey its all yours, but, (key point here) SET PIECES SHOULD ALWAYS! go to their respective class FIRST! Course I could understand why paladin would want Valor Helm, with the Ronald McDonald inspired Lightforge helm. Horrible, I liked the old graphic that the Scarlet Strat guys still use. But, anyway, Pallies, pass on the Valor as its not your set.

OK here i will explain it in a simple way for all paladins so they can understand.
Valor is usefull for ret paladins.-True. But LF is better for paladins overall. If a warrior and a paladin are on the same group, they discuss between each other who needs what. If the paladin says he will roll on the valor, you should just leave the group.
UNDER NO SURCOMSTANCES SHOULD A PALADIN ROLL ON VALOR IF THE WARRIOR NEED IT. THE PALADIN IS ONLY ALLOWED TO ROLL ON VALOR IF THE WARRIOR DOESN'T NEED IT, HAS IT, OR ALLOWS THE PALADIN TO ROLL ON IT!
Fact: Valor is for warriors and LF is for paladins. Thats clear and thats simple to understand. Blizzard has clearly a warrior in their mind while making this set.

You say the paladins could use it until they find LF... It's almost the same as saying If the warrior is looking for the valor chest, and the lf chest drops then you could roll on it, and use it until you find valor chest...

If the warrior allows the pally to roll need, then it shouldn't be no problem.

I have a warrior as my main.. I would start to cry if a a pally needed the valor chest i've been looking for in countless hours, my oppinion is that WARRIORS SHOULD HAVE FIRST PRIORIY ON VALOR. IF NOT ANYTHING ELSE HAS BEEN DECIDED...

Before you go to the instance... make some loot rules;)

Finally completed my Set!

I have to say it is a great set, especially the look, but some of the bonuses suck.

Armor and Attack Bonus - OK
Health Regen - Nice
2 Arcane Damage - Weak
Stun for 1 sec - Weak

Does feel good to have it complete though.
Time to MC for Might when my guild is ready.
Far superior to Valor.

Pallies mostly need Stam Str and Int and Valor has no Int so it would be kinda useless for pallies. I dont really care if a pally would roll on this as long as i dont need it

I believe the belt is the easist piece to obtain, I'd put gloves next, followed by the boots, then the helm, the legs, the shoulders, the bracers (if you don't buy them : P ), and finally the chest. That's not actually the order I got them in, but I started at lvl 59, and only got the first few bits because I was the ONLY warrior in the groups I was in, and the ML just sent them to me, I was completely oblivious to the existance of these as a set. Any of these would be a huge problem for you to get a 55, and most would be impossible. The legs and the chest are the only two pieces that I didn't get on the first try, and now I've killed both the Baron and Drakk over a dozen times EACH without even seeing them drop. It's enough to make you a beliver in karma, if you weren't already. Good luck all!

While I'll give you that Valor is not a great set for tanking, it doesn't exactly hold you back either. The amount of str on the set allows you to block a great deal of damage, and having gone and farmed most of the +def gear mentioned above, I have come to believe that it is a little over-rated. For instance, taking significantly lower lvl gear just because it has more def is not wise. I'm arms, so I'm no genius when it comes to serious tanking (or much else, but I digress. . .) but I am the MT for 5man situations, and on occasion, I'll MT the first half of ZG while we're waiting for some prot spec to show up, and I get no complaints about my performance. Also, when I'm actually doing my roll as the MS spammer, extra interrupter extrodinaire, and sucky backup DPS man, I pull 2nd in dmg absorbed, usually beating the OT, and 5th in damage dealt, usually beating a rogue, or really lazy mage. No complaints from my healers, and since I pug most of the time, I've had a good range of them. Defense is nice, but as a warr, you should be able to do just fine in any instance with Valor, and especially now that the .5 tosses in some def, every warr should collect the set. If you CAN'T tank in Valor, you may as well pass to the pally. And, BTW pallies, I do believe that tier .5 IS class specific. . . hint hint.

Get the quest from a guy in Thralls Chamber. First quest in the chain gives bracers. 6th, gauntlets. It's a loong chain.

Also, the price of stonescale oil / eels has skyrocketed (along with other items needed to complete quests along this chain)

This set is seriously warriors only. I am a paladin with 6/8 Lightforge and I can tell you that if you are a paladin, I don't care wtf you think your role is, you don't need valor, ESPECIALLY if there is a warrior in your group. Even if you are a protection or retribution spec pally, Lightforge is still better for you. Why? IT HAS INTELLECT! Plus it has everything else that valor has, including agility. It may not have as much strength or stamina, but that's obviously cause you don't need it as much as a warrior does. That bit of mana can really save your life in battle, giving you one more heal. Seriously, if you want valor, why didn't you just start a warrior in the first place? THINK! If you want to be a DPS pally, that's fine, get soulforge. It has 2% crit strike plus 1% for spells.

Damn Im really tired of seen all these sites abouts all items and the discussions about! STOP talking about who needs these items and who dont! Im sick and tired when I look up an item and I want too get good advises about the use of these, and what could be done! not someone there start flaming others and says that they dont need them and so on... Dammit let start talk about the @#$%ing item instead talk about who needs and who dont. Im a Warrior - Gormlix - Deathwing server, and I looked this site up because im starting too gather the whole set, and the first thing i see is a whole roman about paladins dont need this a do... I DONT NEED THAT BULL$%^&! I need a gppd discussion about whats good about this set, and whats not good and so on... PLEASE all people I know I want so badly too tell other what right and wrong about who needs and dont! but u can take that discussion in the instance and then for good sake put masterloot on! it aint harder! comeon use these sites for its right purpose!

Read through all the posts. No one goes into how to get the items for the set. I am pretty sure some are drops from Blackrock Spire, but the conversation about who is suited for the set replaced how to even get the set.

OK, thank you all for addressing this issue. Before Burning Crusade, warriors were the unofficial Horde tanks. Now, I'm not saying a Pet shouldn't take some damage either, but, like it or not, I'm an Arms spec warrior, and in almost every instance I've been in, I tanked. Now, Arms is for having lots of attack, yes, and I have a Fiery Epic 2h Mace, so this generally does apply. Protection is by far the best specialization category to tank, mainly: take less damage, and this purpose is best carried out with a shield.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, Paladins can be just as good tanks as warriors, but don't come up to me saying Paladins are the best because they can heal themselves and Paladins are the best class, that makes you an uber-noob. Paladins are indeed a great class, I would've made a Paladin if I had Burning Crusade, but I don't, oh well.

Now, what this forum is all about, the Battlegear of Valor. This is made for Warriors. Great armor, great stats, it's got it all. Don't get me wrong, there is no reason Paladins shouldn't use this, but the Lightforge Armor is for Paladins, wonder why one of the effects increases healing? Warriors don't need to heal, we don't have any healing spells.

Battlegear of Valor = Warriors
Lightforge Armor = Paladins

Shoulders = Blackrock Spire Chief Blackhand
Chest = Blackrock Spire General Dracksommat
Legs = Stratholme Baron Rivendale
Helm = Someone in Scholomance
Boots = Somebody else in Scholomance

The rest can be bought on the AH. The gloves drop off the boss before Rivendale in Stratholme.

I had a 55 Warrior PBC and Valor was a great set try to get for tanking. Now that Pallys have an improved prot build the valor set is very viable for them even past lvl 60 for a bit. It allows for each strike to heal themselves and adds much more to the core tanking stats (str stam), for holy pallys the lightforge set is indeed better. But as for tanking...valor is good for both and I see no problem with a pally and war rolling on it. This is coming from someone who plays both and can see both sides of the arguement. If you need to know where it drops search battlegear of valor on WoWWiki.
