This is speculated to be the level 70 Dungeon set for paladins (its obviously for paladins as the set bonuses both name paladin specific abilities in them) similar to what Lightforge is now. How they are aquired is not yet common knowledge.

I love the look on this set, it is a mixture of the paladin tier 4 and 5, and the helm looks very cool. Looks very good on a blood elf, as you can see on the screenshot.

Beside the look, it is very good for tanking, but also for healing. Any retribution paladin might want to go for the Doomplate Battlegear (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/itemset=661) or even the warrior set Bold Armor (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/itemset=653) if they are bold enough to take it from the warriors ;)

The 2-piece is really good, I'd pick this up for a spelldamage 1h Paladin build as well.

This set has less stamina than the Warrior tank set (difference is around 20 stamina). so to solve this, only take 4 out of the 5 pieces (the final bonus is at 4 pieces anyway) and use the Warrior (Bold Armor) leggings instead of the righteous leggings. this will grant you 20 additional stamina.

Well, unless you find leggings more suited for paladins with the same or more stamina values ;)

I picked up the shoulders the other day in the Botanica - right after I respec'ed holy after hitting 70, and I'm definitely enjoying them.

While I have no wish to be a tank or an off-tank, these have made a nice addition to my solo/damage gear, and it'll definitely be a major part of my spell damage set for the next few weeks till my guild starts running the 25 mans.

More of general curiousity, anyone know if there are any boots that match the armor? Obviously if they are also tanking boots, great, but I am just wondering if there are any boots PERIOD that match.

While I love that Blizz has given more flexibility with set bonuses, I wish they would give a full set (eight pieces) and just make a 6-set piece bonus or something. The elf in the pic looks kinda goofy walking around barefoot in full plate armor otherwise.

I think this is a perfect set for a paladin who prefers a support role in a small group. I think we can never take the place off a warrior as a role for first tank, nor replace a priest for first healer. This set keeps u alive and so u can keep ur group alive. In the mean time u can keep some mobs busy without consuming much off the mana of the healer. tx bliz

Yes I agree there are better pally tank items out there in heroics and kara upwards, but ask yourself what are you going to wear into those heroics, this set is available by running normal instances to end bosses ie: every level 70 will be able to get this; basicall i see it as a set to allow you to equip well enough to run heroics and kara.

this set is good for a prot paladin going into kara. With all the +spell dmg and healing it will help you generate more threat with righteous fury active. I would use this set to go to kara and I would use all 5 pieces cuz there are enchants you can get for stam and if you were really woried about stam you can get gems for stam. I personaly don't take alot of dmg with my armor and i have 11k health buffed and unbuffed 10k.

All parts of this armor are actually pretty damn good. Finally a set that works....kinda lol. For the most part, you will almost never have the 4 et bonus due to far better gear out there. So which are the better parts of this armor? Shoulders-breastplate-Helm. That's all you need from this set. Pants and gloves are replaced with ease later on. And once again, MP5 is your friend. Try not to bash free energy that you need, heh? LOL!! :)

Although the whole set is good, if your going to raid i suggest you only get the chest and shoulders. Above the Timewarden's leggings beats everything else and as for helm and gloves your better off with felsteel. Socketed with solid star of elune.

To start with... FIRST! Lol, always wanted to do that. =)

Anyway, this set is very nice for most pallies, but incredible for ones with a holy/prot build like myself. It has the stamina and defense of the prot part, the int, some mana regen and some +healing for the holy part, and enough sockets to customise the equiupment to specific builds. The set bonuses are also awesome for tanking - consecration is great at gaining aggro from multiple enemies (it was one of the main abilities of tanking pre-righteous defense, and was most notably used against the panthers in ZG) and having a smaller cooldown on our taunt is always a good thing.

In short, a great set, designed with the prot tree in mind, with some considerations given to the holy tree.

you should bw looking in Spells (All) for plate mail wristguards, or others slots.

In heroic mode, you can find this in the Hellfire Ramparts.

You can piece together a much better holy set than this from random drops in L70 dungeons. The set pieces are mediocre and the bonuses are total garbage for anything other than tanking.

That said, this is a really nice tanking set, to be perfectly honest.

I know I shouldnt be complaining but why does the righteous set have more +def than a warrior set? As a pally im stoked but it does seem a little wierd.

Nice set. Has the spell damage we need for threat (we generate all of ours from holy damage after all) has stam and defense. Would tarde mana/5 for Stam or raw int or even more defense, but all in all, not bad.

With Field Marshal set and you will see the improvement.
Remember that Field Marshal is a six piece set and Righteous is a five piece set.
Obviously, there are a lot of other sets and look alike sets that are better for Retribution and Holy paladins, but they aren't so easy to get. An exception for retribution maybe, because of the lightforge set look alike that can give better atributes and have the same difficult as this.

dont think many will go for all these though as we need other stats a little more than magical damage as the set gives plenty to hold aggro, for those like me however the items are there so have a good time trying to get them :)

Killed several bosses in kara with a pally tank. Sometimes when the mob isn't straight hitting him, he doesn't get so much aggro so It can be a little tough for him, but we know he's a pally so we dont 6k pyroblast on him over and over again do we?

Finally a set for prot paladins! i do not feel sorry for holy paladins at all, because if you look at the gear dropped at ssc and kara, you will find all the palte is either ffor a warrior or holy pally. Retri pallys, on the other hand, have no gear in sets, and the only gear for them is in the tier sets and gladiator.

For those of you who seem to have a mental block squarely on the Str/Agi lack, several pieces of this set are socketable, you can put any number of stat combinations in there, Enduring Perdiots, Glowing Shadow Draenite, my persoal favorites, but plenty of other options.

Ok this is simple, warriors have str on there sets to add ap for more top-end damage, paladins use spell damage to increase theirs. It's pretty obvious that a little spell damage say 20 wouldn't be exactly = too 20str...so generally I assume that's why they recieved a nice bonus of agility on their bold d3 set. Lastly, Paladins have more def on there set to make up for their lack of +block compared to say the bold set that has str. and if you look at what str offers, it adds +block and an attack power bonus. Paladins just get the def instead. I may not be entirely correct, but it just makes sense to me....it's like they knock out 2 birds with one stone, easily.

I was just curious how far this set could get me, is this enough to start going on heroic runs, or should i pvp my ass off and get the gladiator gear

I have this and it looks sweet, great stats for the most part, not enough hp. With this set and the 3 matching peices i'm trying to get, i would have 11k health, not enough. I ended up getting vengeful gladiators chest and timewardens leggings and putting 12 stam in every slot, giving me 13k health with kings, 14-15k buffed in heroics, 16k in kara. full justicar would give me enough hp to tank gruul, by at that point why would i want to? I love being a paladin tank but there just isnt enough options for gear. There's a few new pieces of gear available for badges and they look god awful. Give me an epic blacksmith set like tailors have. I love the paladin tanks who wear all warrior gear, go ahead and think all that strength does you any good.

My choice in the gem slots;

Yellow - Thick Dawnstone - 8+ Defence
Blue - Solid Star of Elune 12+ Stamina
Red - Flashing Living Ruby 8+Parry
Metal - Powerful Earthstorm Diamond 16+ Stamina & Minor Stun resistance

Any hybrid gems(orange, purple, green) that are epic and count two of the stats from red, yellow and blue would be ideal. I remember seeing a green with with 5 Defence and 7 stamina (x2 of those = +2 stamina more from a thick dawnstone and Solid Star of elune)

Ultimately the best gems to aqquire for a tanking set are;

Glimmering Fire Opal - orange with 5 parry and 4 defence (ideal for all your red slots)
Enduring Seaspray Emerald - Green with 5 defence 7 stamina (all your blue slots)
Facet of Eternity - Yellow with 12 defence

Even though some of these are indeed soulbound, being a jewel crafter while you make plenty of these gems for current and future armour pieces would be a really smart idea.

There are others but the first select is what I'm going for as they're far easier to aqquire and by the time you get full tank lightbringer and all those gems, the post lich king expansion will be out making that set and gems completely worthless at level 90 :P

Alright I made a list of what I'm trying to get to be uncrushable pre heroics and Kara. If you have any upgrades to this list plaease let me know. the number after the gear is the defence rating from the item.

Hands - Gauntlets of the Righteous - 19

Waist - Shat'ari Vindicators Wristguards - 20 + 24 Block Rating

Legs - Legplates of the Righteous - 26

Boots - Flesh Beasts Metal Greaves - 18 - 28 Dodge

Ring1 - Protectors Mark of Redemption - 25

Ring2 - Andormus Tears - 10 + 26 dodge

Trinkets - Havent decided yet

Shield - Netherwing Defender Shield - 13

Gems - 2 Blue, 2 Red, 2 Yellow, 1 Meta

Weapon- Cudgel of Concecration - 200+ Spell damage (enchant 40 spell damage)

Total Value is 300 def rating - Uncrushable and Uncrittable Holy Brick that Builds and Holds aggro like nobodies business (350+ spell damage). I know I overkilled it on def rating and probably wasting points, so there is some fine tuning needed. After you get this set you can upgrade on heroic gems and replace gear as neccissary. I'm only lvl 54 on my first toon but I got my sights set on this.

No more QQ'ing about dodging being bad for prot pallys, heres a lil something every1 who thinks dodging is bad must read!

Atm my paladin has about 23% dodge, 17% parry, 20% block. By seeing this many would think i would dodge more then i would parry/block, but your wrong. When i pop holy shield, my block rating rises to a whopping 55%ish (with BoJ libram), thus making me block half of all incoming attacks, while dodging only 1/4.

Conclusion: when you have 490(+) defense and a decent amount of health/armor, go get some dodge/parry, it'll make your healers happy. Dont bother with int/mp5, you dont need it.

One last thing: if you wipe on a boss because you dodge too much, so you cant gen enough threat and lose aggro, tell your dps to get Omen or KTM and look at it every now and then. Plus if you rush in with Wings, Avengers Shield, JoR, Holy shield, consecration, you wont loose aggro fast, even if holy shield doesnt proc often.
