According to the proc information mined from wowhead, there is a 100% chance on hit to proc the +450 haste rating set bonus: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=41434

This basically gives the wielder 42.86% increased attack speed when you have the set...add sword spec on top for these and you have a ridiculous amount of attacks happening. God save me if my poor little priest comes up against this set on a fury warrior or combat rogue.

Illidan wasn't a "Hunter" at all. Demon Hunters came well before a Hunter class was invisioned for the WoW MMORPG. There is no connection beyond having hunter in the title.

Demon Hunters are better likened to Rogues, which they have several things in common with, most notably the Evasion ability, originally one of the Demon Hunter hero units passive ability.

Note: This was originally in response to a comment which has been purged, stating something to the effect that this is a hunter weapon because Illidan was a demon hunter.

Calling Illidan a hunter is rediculous, considering night elf demon hunters have nothing to do with the hunter as a WoW class. The Demon Hunter was a hero unit from Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne, long before WoW. A demon hunter is a night elf who has made a pact with the forces of chaos, gaining the ability to use shadow magic in order to use the demon's power against them, but at a cost. The demon hunters ritually blind themselves (which is why they always have blindfolds on) in order to be able to see demons and undead creatures better. In addition, they are generally shunned form society because of their pact with chaos, despite the fact that they are some of the most able defenders of the night elves. The closest comparison, in my opinion (the evasion ability and the fact they are dual-weilding swords aside), is the warlock. The immolation ability, the mana drain ability (now a priest ability, but it is still shadow magic), and the fact that they can turn into a demon should be evidence enough that they are more warlock than hunter.

The abilities of a Demon Hunter are not bestowed upon them by demons. only Illidan(who was also the first demon hunter) was granted his powers from demons. Sargeras burned out Illidan's eyes and covered his body with a variety of paterns that granted him magical ability. Other demon hunters (who were inspired by Illidan's example, although they were forced to find a different source of power because they could not get it from Sargeras as Illidan did) are required to undergo a series of rituals that results in the demon hunter capturing and sacrificing a demon and binding a portion of its soul to his own, granting him his powers, and does not get his powers bestowed upon him by the demon. while demon hunters are fairly proficient at melee combat, they are also powerful caster units, so i would have to say that calling them more fighter than caster would be incorrect. they are similar to rouges in the fact that they have an evasion ability and dual-wield, but most of their abilities are magic-based, making them casters, although an argument could easily be made for either side.

OK did we all forget that illidan consumed the skull of guldan AND the eye of sargarus?? Those two things gave him his "Demonhunter" abilitys. The skull of guldan turned him evil though he wasn't exactly a saint. and the eye of sargarus burnt out his eyes and gave him his demon sight. Just to clear up some slight misunderstanding. If a warrior was useing these i think i would have to stab him in the foot. While they are suitable for warriors Rouges should REALLY get this item(s) (note that i do have a 70 warrior :) )

neither the Eye of Sargeras nor the Skull of Gul'dan gave Illidan his demonhunter abilities, they were granted to him by Sargeras, who blinded him and gave him power over shadow magic. he was a demon hunter long before Gul'dan even existed. the Skull turned him into a demon, but he already was a demon hunter before he consumed the skull. as for the Eye of Sargeras, he did not get his demon hunter powers from it and certainly did not consume it. he used it in an attempt to destroy Icecrown Citadel, as he was commanded to do by Kil'jaeden (who thought Ner'zhul was growing too powerful to control, so he sent Illidan to destroy him)

As was previously noted, the Eye of Sargeras was sought by both Gul'dan and Illidan. The latter would attain it, and then use it in a failed attempt to destroy the Frozen Throne. I should say that the "eyes of Sargeras" are that which give Illidan his ability to manipulate magic to such an extent, not necessarily that he has power of shadow magic. Demonic magic, surely, but not shadow magic.

However, the Skull of Gul'dan's powers were indeed absorbed. They are what I suspect that which gave Illidan the ability to become half-demon, half-elf in a Metamorphosis.

Im salivating of having (if ever) my Death Knight wield this even if I have to go back to BT on way to 80.

Having said that, wouldnt a Demon Hunter heroic class be attractive also?

In any case this is a really great set for those who can get their hands on it, very slow MH and very fast OH makes this combination very deadly indeed.

Ok can some one just tell everyone that illidan wasn't really all powerful like a god cause the way people talk about him it's like he could blow up the whole azeroth.. he still needs an ancient city to even attempt an attack on nerzhul who could have kicked illidans butt as we will find out when we fight his lesser arthas in wrath of the lich king

OK -regarding his eyes, Sargeras burned them out when Illidan was communicating with him through a portal made by the highborne in Azshara. This was part of Illidan gaining his powers. Illidan had hoped to trick Sargeras and gain powers to use against him, but Sargeras made him pay with his eyes as a sign of loyalty.

He was in training to become a mage when all this happened, so his casting powers were increased. Comparing him to a rogue or a hunter is slightly inaccurate.

The proc rate has been found to be roughly .75ppm or around 2% per swing and it has no internal cooldown. As stated above, the proc effect looks like activating Slice and Dice. Buff is called The Twin Blades of Azzinoth and it shares a buff icon with the Mark of the Illidari. Estimated AEP value of 300 and the general feeling is my damage has increased by about the same margin as having an extra Dragonspine Trophy.

Also, unfortunately, as of patch 2.3 the Twin Blades proc has an internal 45-second cooldown.

I'm not going to weigh in on what class Illidan most closely resembles. You could make somewhat of a case for Hunter, Rogue or Warrior, but he's a different class altogether. I really hope that Blizzard is building Demonhunter as a new class along with Death Knights. That would be SOOO sweet!

In the meantime, Hunters, Rogues and Warriors all have dual wield. All of them have some things in common with Illidan as well. (Hunters more in the magical blasts side of things. Of the three, they are the only mana and magic using type.) All of them would love to have these weapons. So why the hell can't hunters use them?

It had both of these combined, it would probably be the best dual wielding weapon set in the game, if you a sword wielding rouge, Agility is very nice and Stamina for extra health, or a Fury specced warrior, agility increases Crit chance, and Stamina for extra health, it your a dagger dual wielding rouge you'd probably want to go with two Shards of Azzinoth https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32471.

And as he said no, that is the GM version of it, the GM Twin Warglaives of Azzinoth, https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=185843 and https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=18584, can be combined to creat the GM Twin Blades of Azzinoth, https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=18582, but as a group the two Warglaives of Azzinoth, here, are also known as the player version of the Twin Blades of Azzinoth.

Hunters evolved from a collection of units in WC3, as most classes did.
There ranged attacks coming from The Ranger lords of Quel' Thalas, and The Priestesses of the moon.

The idea of pets came primarily from Rexar who you play in the extended horde campaign, as well as from the various units, such as far seers, who could summon up various controllable pets.

Illidan was as stated before more of a rogue/ warlock, and had no abilities that even remotely resembled the hunter class, he just happened to have the ability to track demons, and the capacity to kill them.

So for all you who consider him a hunter instead you might think of him as a Demon Removal Engineer.

It would seem that these could be the Burning Crusade equivalent of The Twin Blades of Hakkari that are obtained in Zul'Gurub, although that these are only usable by Wariors and Rogues, and they are legendary, while Hakkari Blades are only Epic

In the old times having Thunderfury or Sulfuras was a big thing, quests and item gatherings to get Legendary items like Atiesh took months, or required killing a world boss.

These legendaries were the sh*t, you couldn't beat them at their time, and they had special, unique abilities.

And there's this, Twin Blades of Azzinoth. They're legendary, but so many of 'em drop, and don't require anything else, it's just crap. Old legendaries required so much effort, they weren't ev'rywere, and you knew you actually had a Legendary item. This has 4% drop chance... 4 freaking percent, like c'mon is Illidan manufacturing them each week?! What is a legendary item that just drops in some casual week runs in BT.

This is a joke. The game is losing the fun.

Demon hunters are more of a hunter/warlock/rogue . Demon hunters hunt and track demons so if anything they'd be like survival hunters. They have alot of magic abiltys including the demon form spell. They are quick like rogues and crafty, they are able to get out of situations easily also. So if someone says that a demon hunter is like a hunter its not entirely false.

Illidan gained his powers from sargeras, who burned his eyes out and replaced them with magical orbs. Illidan covered his eyes with a blindfold after that, he gained rune tatoos on his body and enhanced magical abilitys. He used the blades of azzinoth which he had looted off the demon Azzinoth.

Illidan consumed the powers of the Skull of Gul'dan transforming him, after becoming a demon to his brothers eyes and the eyes of his people he left into the forests of Felwood. Apparently after the fall of archimonde he met Kil'jaeden and made a pact with him, sealing his transformation as a demon.

I get asked a lot about my attack speeds with the Warglaives and various procs. I did not test with Blade Flurry, but here are the speeds with Slice and Dice, the Warglaive set bonus proc, Dragonspine Trophy proc, and Mongoose Enchant procs. Keep in mind I also had the 2 piece Slayer's Set Bonus active at all times. I assume any Rogue having both Warglaives would also have at least two pieces of Slayer gear. The tooltip for my Slice and Dice reads "Finishing move that increases melee attack speed by 35%" as opposed to the normal 30% without the set bonus. I may update in the future as I tinker with Haste Potions and Heroism/Bloodlust.

Formatted like so: Mainhand speed/Offhand speed, the procs active to reach that speed.

But what does it matter to you, really? If Warriors and Rogues get Legendary weapons and your class doesn't, so what? It's very unlikely that you'll get the chance to actually get one for a long long time (if ever) anyway. And it's also very unlikely that you're going to bump into someone actually wearing the Twin Blades of Azzinoth either. In the end, the existence of these things will most likely never affect you at all.

And no, I don't have neither a Warrior nor a Rogue. But let's be happy for 'em, eh? ;)

you, sir are 100% correct. Arthas can not be the end-all, be-all of raiding. There are far more powerful entities out there. The old god, C'Thun was a very weakened version of his former self. There are still the other full-strength old gods as a possibility, and the dragon aspects as well. Not to mention Kil'Jaeden and Sargeras. There is also the entire vast army working for them, including many powerful demons we have not yet seen (world raid bosses anyone?)

I am a paladin, and I have been killed by both of these blades (each a seperate ocasion). The blade is so big and green and obvious its the biggest bg aggro weapon you can get, so after he got 4-5 kills his healer oomed and we downed him, it was like fighting a crazy instance-boss, Epic fight.

Flag's and towers didn't matter, I had to just hit him, but when he turned on me, red numbers started spaying out of me like blood. It was an honor to be murdered by such a weapon.

sorry to all of you people out there who have had bad exp. with "$%^&*!@s" my class is so filled with idiots who "omfg hold on mom" it makes me sick. Ive been hunting for as long as this games been out(rolled in nov'04) and to be perfectly honest, rogues...warriors(yeh they can lay claim too)...have this $%^& I dont want it. ill take a halb of deso. any day over those 2. sure theres the lore aspect, and then "wouldnt that be cool" but any end game raiding guild isnt going to have this forum troll discussion about these guys. they goto rogues and warriors, and not even in that order(although the speed ratings on them make them more ideal for a rogue then a warior). SO PLEASE. can we move past the "id roll them im a ^&*!@#$ lololol" !@#$, there arent rolls at that level, there is dkp...the end...thank you look at the shineys(and also check out the new sunwell KJ bow. = to Mt hyjal and BT bows if you do the math but isnt it orange enough for us?) oh yeh. my main for raiding is a rogue, main for pvp is my hunter.. play both ends before you speak about either.

As a hunter, i can honestly say there would be nothing cooler than to rip these bad boys out ina BG, cause it'll probably scare the crap outta someone to be getting shot to hell by a hunter, have his pet on you every second, and then when you get close enough to do damage, they rip these things out. But, of course reality steps in and guess what, THESE ARE NOT FOR HUNTERS! as a hunter who's been at this a while and has a set of PVP gear, i know what i'm capable of and what i'm useful for in BG's and Instnaces as well as end game raids. We're a long distance class that are complete and utter wimps when it comes to melee. Even with the greatest melee weapons in the game, it's not gonna change the fact that a paly, warrior or rogue will beat the living crap out of us whether we possess weapons like this or not. I'm sick of hunters getting a bad name because of the greedy, noob a$$ @#$%^&s playing this game. if you want a set of blades like this, guess what, start a new toon. I've seen a few times and postings from people talking about hunters and other classes rolling against them.... unbelieveable. As a hunter with an IQ above 12, no one should be rolling or even considering trying to ninja these away from a rogue for any reason. Especially, if that rogue is in your guild, don't you want him on your side next time around, watching your back and pawning anything that gets close to you in your next BG, instance or whatever.

Sorry to ramble on, just want the melee classes of the WoW world to know there's a few good hunters left, and I'm happy to say i'm one of them
