This drops of the final boss in ST, Shade of Erakinus.

It has a very low drop chance but it's a pretty good weapon.

Info about the Chance on hit:

You summon one whelp at a time, but you can only have up to 3 whelps summoned at one time. Their attack is shooting green bolts at an enemy, which take about 2-3 seconds to cast and it's cooldown is roughly two seonds. Each bolt does about 280 damage (fighting a level 52 monster) and during the duration of the summon, it casts about 3 of these bolts, making the final damage around 840.

Far too hard to kill shade solo and time consuming to get this as a viable weapon for its level. This would be similar to ironfoe, a prestige item.

This sword is a priceless treasure to obtain since the boss has godly attack power so make sure you have a well structured group. The only good this is this weap has a good chance on hit, but basically you can do way better when you get to level 60 which isn't too far away if you can weild this sword. For the amount of struggle you have to go through to get this sword it is pretty much worthless to even attempt.

My guild leader got one of these a while back on his now level 60 warrior alt. He still uses this weapon off and on and it seems to process a fair amount, about once per fight when fighting elites or soloing non-elites.

It's also comically big.

Wouldn't be able to farm this either, Shade is the last boss and you need to kill all the troll bosses, all four dragon bosses and the 2 mega troll bosses. I think...Haven't done ST in some time.

i actually had this sword drop from jammal about a year ago and won it with my rogue..maybe things have changed with it since then, but it always only spawned 1 dragon for me..send bloodskalp a tell on burning blade (alliance) if you want to see what i mean :P

This weapon also does not spawn dragons that scale with you level, so you will aggro if it procs in a higher level instance.

I had forgot this had dropped in here, and on my first (and last, as things had it, could never find another group) run of ST on my Rogue, this had to drop.

Of course, being combat, and this being the godly sword this is, I needed. Problem is, I had to outroll 2 hunters, and paladin, and a warlock. (coughjerkscough)

Good thing is, the WoW gods smiled on me that day, and I rolled a 100. Spent half my gold on a Crusader after that.

Im level 65 now, but this is a trophy item for me. Holds a special slot in my bank, for those special occasions when I decide some lowbie horde must die.

omg, u dont wanna know lol...ud be owning lvl 70's practicly O.o...this wep does more dmg than some lvl 70 daggers and the proc gives u hella DPS...with two it would proc extreamly often making you almost as good as a lvl 70. With good twink gear + Dragon's Call u would be one serious force to be reconed with XD

My guildie ran me thru ST today. We beat Shade, I looted it. I didn't notice it till my guildie said "Dude..." I look at my log and it says "You obtain Dragon's Call" I was soo happy.

Too bad I have to wait 1 more level to use it. XD

Well here we have it again... A huntard who has needed it if you look in picture 4 of 4 You clearly see its a hunter on Abilits on toolbar and pets etc etc, I get so damn sick when Hunters Need on Chanse on Hit weps just beacuse its Cool or this case Epic so.... When i do this boss later on I will clearly state That hunter cant need on it Serius Hunter need AGILITY STAMINA AP not chase on hit.

The proc rate on this sword seems to be about 1 out of around 65 swings and the whelp seems to be bugged when it's summoned and just sits there but doesn't attack.(Kind of like a pet you summon from an item except it can takes hits) The whelp is level 53 when it procs and has about 1750 life or somewhere in that range

This dropped for me last night. I used my 70 hunter to run my 44 rogue and two other guild mates through the instance and this dropped first try. My rogue won the roll so I will be getting him up to 52 asap.

excellent weapon for lvls 52-60, tho it is a very low drop rate...i was one of the lucky people; got this the second time i ran ST. I was a ret pally doing amazing damage with Taran Icebreaker (with less than 2k mana :( then i got this sword and went prot...lets just say AMAZING, i do more damage than i ever did as ret spec, even tho im using a 1h, and i enchanted this with +30 int, so at lvl 57 i have about 4k mana and 5.5k health...ill use this sword until i can get the epic pvp sword High Warlord's Quickblade...amazingly awesome weapon, and definetely worth the runs in ST...Good luck :)

Lucked out and got it on the third run. Had to roll against a war too. Im a prot pally so this is of course a gift from heaven lol lvl 50 too. I wonder if the server reset had anything to do with the drop?

Rogues: bear in mind that if you vanish with a whelp up, whatever mob(s) you were attempting to escape will attack the whelp and then turn to attack you. Read: emerald whelp up + vanish = no vanish.

Used it for tanking and in multiple mobs the whelp was strong enough to tank one add alone, not bad in those 5+ pulls without CC while leveling up :)

just got this last night...took 2 hours of non stop running...pretty ez to do....just had a mage friend stealth to the 6 minibosses, while my char stood at entrance of instance, once there were dead, just clear the way back to the instance portal and pick up your char....then just kill as fast as possible, and aoe everything...pretty ez, took about 26 mins per run, killed all dragons in room :P...GL getting it! imma go for it again for my OH :P

Got this on my first complete run through ST ... and it does make a nice tanking weapon, used it through BRD, and it was a nice proc as compared to Thrash Blade's extra attack.

I believe the drop rate has been buffed in 2.3 because i had one drop on my alliance hunter on tichondrious the one and only time i ran, and I had one drop on my warrior, last night, the one and only time i ran it.

i have no idea where this summon-3-dragon-at-once BS comes from. u can only summon *ONE* whelp at a time. and the whelp is lvl 55 not 40 or 45 or what ever.

(for those of u who wish to know what attack the whelp does) the whelps attack is basically a magic attack, it shoots these green bolts at an enermy. the green bolts takes about 2-3 seconds to cast and it has a cool down time of roughly 2 seconds. each green bolts does around 280 dmg (fighting a lvl 52 monster) and during the life duration of the whelp, it can cast about 3 of these bolts. so it brings the total damage to around 840.

Also, when the whelp is summoned, i realised that sometimes the monsters will attack the whelp as well, this is good news as it means that the whelp also acts like a tank for around 5-10secs

i have noticed that now matter how nice a weapon is there is some nay sayer who says this is the worst ever. good for you! I would like to have it its a great one handed weapon. there are (gasp) some peeps who dont even have any epic equipment at all. and yes we all know "your a noob" statement is going to be used on this comment.it seems to be the catch all thing to say when you cant think of anything else to say.

This sword really seems to like me, i killed eranikus about 7 times and it dropped 3 times.

Yesterday was funny:
Never go to the temple with a mage, a priest and 3 druids and make jokes about the mage getting dragon's call... it ends in something like this

Damn guys. Why is it that every time there is another epic sword, dagger, or bow a 2 year argument starts over which class needs it more. Why can we not just leave it at hunters get priority over MOST bows and rouges, warriors, and pallies get priority over MOST melee weapons. Remember guys there is a reason all of these classes can use these items.

If there is a no war pally or rouge that should be the ONLY way a hunter should get this other then that it is pointless, palys wars and rouges will be using this till they get into outlands, unlike hunters there gonna sell it and get something with agil the next day. the mele classes rouges/wars/pallys all would be using this 24/7 hunters on the other hand would be using there ranged with with there pet tanking 90% of the time unless there stupid. hunters dont need to mele eithr as long as they have there pet out and even at taht they can kite if it aint, the mele classes will never be putting this wep down unlike hunters, if hunters want a 1h sword go for soemthing with agil and let the mele have it!

the spec is to get you away from your target more effectively, better traps, imp FD etc. before you mention something stupid like resourcefulness - this would be taken for the cheaper traps, savage strikes.... waste of 2 points. Anyone that knows how to play a hunter doesn't spec the melee talents in this tree anyway.

Hunters are "Ranged" DPS! my main was a hunter for 60 end game, we do NOT Melee in raids! and if we are spending time in melee in pvp then we are about to die.
Anyway, the sword is useless for hunters. As a hunter i wouldn't want to be seen in a city with this sword anyway as peeps will know you don't know your class.

just dropped at about 2:30 a.m. server time. entire run had amazing loots(rare trash mob loots and other BOE blues) and then this drops off last boss.

GET a sword that has AGI this sword is for Wariors or SWORD ROGUES hunters, there are plenty of better weapons for you out there. another good sword is Thrash blade O_O get taht instead

Mages/Preist/Shammy/Druid: if you roll on this im pretty sure all the others in the group would eat you alive... If druid is tanking and there is no warrior/rogue then it should go to whoever wins the GREED roll

Had this rather nice weapon drop this evening.

Myself (57 pally) and a 52 rogue were the only two classes in the party who could use this. It's a very impressive sword with great damage for the level, and I hear the proc is pretty sweet.

However, I had to pass to the rogue, because I could not in good faith take even risk taking the weapon from him. A rogue simply can use this item better than any job a paladin could be doing.

Healing - No int/spirit/mp5/healing on this weapon.
Tanking (what I was doing) - No stats. I still consider my https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=11784/arbiters-blade to be superior to dragon's call for this weapon.
DPS - Retribution plays to two handers, this thing is one handed.

All in all a great weapon, but please, let a rogue or warrior have it before anyone else. Let's not get so wrapped up in the purple foil that we take items from others just because.

Ok i just got this sword dropped about 7 time i been inside and a noob hunter OFC said ''hmm that seems nice'' and needed it -.- he rolled 87 and me 91 i was reliefed :S goda damnit i could kill him if he ahd higher then me.........

Just got this weapon last night for my lvl 60 Tauren Warrior. I gotta say it sits nice on his hand. Especially when every weapon that tauren uses look really big on them. The dmg range is nice too, so i think im really gonna enjoy this.

For a person that hansnt had the opportunity to get to the big instances this is a real nice surprise to get such a rare weapon, very low droprate. :O

Im a mage and i had run through st over a million times until one day i finally saw the sword, i was the highest lvl in the group and the only elegible player that could actually use the sword at the time, i had carried most of these players through the dungeon to this final point because without my full fire dps and AOE they couldnt ever get through these mobs this easy or alive. I knew i'd never see this sword again and as a group every1 was hungry 4 the sword. I had passed on every other drop that had appeared but i really didnt want to pass on this. We all as a group decided to need on it (everyone) and let the luckiest man win....i had never ever been lucky on this game in my life and my god this was my day.....i had won the sword and i still continue to use it as my melee weapon along with my wand and off hand(its great)i have a fiery enchant on it aswell and theres no doubt that it doesnt rock and its makes my char look so much better, i think if im able to use a sword then i deserve to have 1. And for all you who &*!@# and complain about people that have weapons that you want or you think they shouldnt have then just forget it because in the end every1 in this game wants everything.....and yes its dirty and greedy but iv learnt to like it like that because you cant get anywhere passing on everything because your scared about what others opinions are, i had learnt this from that day and i now enjoy the game more knowing that i actually achieved something from my efforts in dungeons because normally i would have left empty handed having passed on everything, i dont even get my cloth wear which plate users still roll for and take from me, so every1 should just accept that its all greed and luck and an overgenerous and giving, passing charachter will never get anywhere on this game coz otherwise others will take what he deserves from him, taking advantage of him and his efforts, and i know this all very well because i use to be this kind of person before and i realised how *!@# i was with very bad low lvl gear and no status and that all i had as friends on my list where people who just wanted to use me(no enjoyment from the game), i know you all know this deep down aswell, So if you'v also felt like i had and have never had anything good from this game and the item you have the potential to win and you 'ARE ABLE TO USE' the item and you really want it.....then roll for it because in the end your all on your own, no1 else is going to do it for you? And you wont have anything in return, thanks.

I got this off of Eranikus last night, with my group of Druid, Priest, Mage, and Hunter. Thank god no rouges/warriors. As soon as I went fury specced. When it procs you get little guardian to what I have seen hits the person 3 times for 250 dmg roughly with casts!
Thats like 750 dmg on a proc

i went to the sunken temple for a quest (and to try my look with the sword) didn't get it and right after we killed Eranikus i saw on guild chat that a group went in and the sword dropped but no one could use the sword and since its BOP they vendorised it >.< such things like this being BOP is a crime! He even said he woulda gave it to me for free if it wasn't BOP, thats just too much so i ended up loggin off for half an hour to watch a film to calm down. (didn't work)

God I want this sword. It looks cool and the Chance on hit is awesome. But knowing my luck it will never drop or get ninjaed or something. And if some jackass does ninja it I don't wanna even imagine how pissed I'll get. Luckily I don't run into many ninja looters and mostly play with guildmates. I only run an instance maybe 2 or 3 times so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I am a 52 rogue and I was doing ST with all guildies besides this 56 mage. We killed him with ease and forgot to put ML on (nooby us). I was high roller and then the mage was like "wow that sword is nice i wouldnt mind having it" and rolled and beat me by 4 i had 82 he rolled an 88.. gotta love it /cry

Me, 60 mage, a 51 warrior, a 60 warrior, a 50 priest and a 55 paladin got this! Really it was quite fun the 60 warrior claims to be the 1 damageing the most on the server, but it turned out I did more (got agro of Eranikus). But well to make a short story long the 51 warrior got it because the 60 had both Dal'Rends the 51 is a personal friend of mine and I promise you he was quite happy, he has always dreamed of this sword. So far he has not seen the effect (posting this 5 hours of gaming later) but then again he couldn't use it when he got it.

I must say, after around 50 runs on ST, this sword is not very common at all T___T

so unless you have wierd luck or just feeling lucky, don't spend too long farming for this.

This just dropped off that big dragon at the end of ST... was me (52 sword rogue) , 57 preist, 58 dagger rogue, 54 warrior , 53 pallie . Pallie rolls 30. I roll 70. warrior rolls 90. Then outa no where the dagger rogue rolls 99. He was like " its an upgrade". U use daggers i say. hes like no my offhand. This is a crappy offhand for a rogue. he says his current is worse a 42 dps blue dagger speed 1.4. then he sits their thinking if he's gonna take it AND IT DISSAPEARS man im so pissed right now.

im just an ordinary lvl 44 that saw this on another post.... and i wanted it so i grabed my lvl 67 GM and my lvl 70 guildy and we went through it like 50 times no lie and at the last tries we finally got it then i asked if we can go one more time so i can lvl and that is when i got the 2nd one! i was so happy!

Nice in the beginning but kinda sucks in the high instances since the damage gets resisted alot.

What are the odds of the sword dropping. I know there is no such thing as a gaurenteed drop. I just want to know how many times im going to have to kill the shade or anyone else just to find the sword.

I have it on Sargeras, and you'll most likely all hate me. Got it on my first run of ST and was high roller with a 26. Just a trophy weapon now, upgraded since I've been in MC. Still comes out though in PvP. Nothing more confusing the getting hit from range by a paladin ;).

It dropped for me. I had been looking at it and jokingly told my buddy I wanted it when we went in, and it dropped for me on the first try. I looked here for info on whether it was useful (e.g. how often this "chance on hit" occurs). Here's what I've come up with from personal experience -- others' opinions may differ:

CHANCE: The chance is fairly high. I can safely say the whelp appears almost every fight I'm in, presuming the fight takes a little while. I'm prot-specced warrior, so fights tend to be slightly longer for me than other peeps, but if I grind a place for an hour, I will have seen the whelp many times during that hour.

THE WHELP: It's a level 55 Emerald Dragon Whelp (at least for me it is). Once summoned, it will stick around for 10 seconds after which it will vanish, or, die, rather (that's what the combat log says -- "Emerald Dragon Whelp dies."). The whelp, once spawned, will immediately attack your target. If you have no target (the spawn happened e.g. at a killing strike), the whelp will possibly attack another mob that is attacking you. If no mob is attacking you, attacking a mob will NOT result in the whelp helping out. The whelp will choose its target on spawn, and if that target dies, the whelp passively lingers with you until it dies. I haven't checked what happens if the whelp gets aggro in this state.

WHAT IT DOES: It has two attacks, primarily.
- 1: It has a melee attack, which hits for between 40-63 (but it hits pretty fast, so dps is much higher, probably around twice the amount).
- 2: It has a ranged acid attack called "Acid Spit" which does dmg in the range 204-275, from what I've seen. Seems to have about a one second cast time, and once the whelp decides to use it it will keep casting it.

RESISTANCES: While fighting in Un'Goro, the whelp is oftentimes targeted for fear attacks from the Pterrordax. More often than not, it fails to resist, but I've seen it happen (resisting, that is). The whelp has aggroed (body-pulled a nearby mob) and taken several punches from a 53 level mob without dying. Can't thoroughly give any indications on how much health it has, but it isn't porcelain, at least.

Hope that helps. I'll check back here to see if anyone has objections to any of that.

Just got this about a month ago on Thunderlord, funny thing is I was going to reject the help request to continue working on my skinning, glad I didn't. It's nice, procs very often. I was the only Warrior, the rest of the group was a mage, pally, rogue, and priest, they just said go ahead and take it. But now it sits in my bag, just got Halberd of Smiting the other night and respec'd arms =)

First time ive ever done Sunken Temple and we're just up to the trolls before te last lot of dragons and what happens, a bloody server shut down in 15mins. So we hurry up, kill all the trolls, the dragons, get to Shade the last dragon with 4 mins to go. Smacked him down and what does he drop and i won the roll, this very nice sword. Thanks Bliz for server shut downs! lol

I was running a 47 warlock through ST with my 70 hunter when we killed the dragon. I couldn't believe it. I ran her through Mara and she got the epic weapon from the princess too. 2 epics in less then a week. what luck!

This dropped for us in Proudmoore the other day. Warrior guildy got it. I'm worndering why it doesn't show up though - number dropped still says 1.

This is one of the best Weapons for Players below lvl 60.

I´m trying to get this one, but still after 12 Runs it didn´t drops.

Most Times we go in with two tanks to kill Eranikus,....

Still at lvl 59 (me defensiv-warrior) i didn´t need another Tank.

Got this on the Warsong server. Its not that good for a rogue, Krol blade would be much better with a fast weapon in the off-hand. Won it over a warrior and then a hunter rolled need on it to on "accident". I rolled a 100 so its mine, all mine.

This and Dire Nail of The Monkey both dropped from the same boss and all in the party except good old ygg were druids so everyone passed while i needed...i was so overjoyed...Dragon's breath has dropped 2/2 times when ive been down there :D.

Went on a run this evening with a fellow guildmate (Paladin) and a alliancemate (Mage) from another guild. We were shocked when the The Embrace of the Wind Serpent dropped for the mage.

The whole time I was saying "I'm going to get it this time." We didn't clear out the room of all the dragons before engaging Eranikus (whoops! my bad!) and right around 30% health, they all came to his rescue. The Hunter and the Priest went down quickly and the Mage went next. I shouted all of them onto while the Paladin pulled out all the stops to keep alive. I hit Retalliation and between the Paladin and myself, we managed to kill Eranikus about 4 seconds before we both kicked the bucket.

And this sucker drops! I nearly fell out of my chair in surprise. Needless to say I'm one happy Warrior and both our Guilds are having a field-day with both purples dropping.

We had a lv 70 shammy run us through for quest's and loot. The whole time we were joking about it dropping. my friend is a lv50 warrior and im lv 47 rogue, sure enough it droped. We rolled best 3 out of 5, i won 3 in a row. lol

And here is how to get it:

First kill Jamman - killing all 6 named undeads in the middle section -, then 2 elite named dragons will appear in the main hall. Wipe them out, then kill the two other named dragons in eranicus hall. Eranicus will awake. I highly recommend to kill every other dragon-like mob to prevent Eranikus getting any help.
Eranikus is pretty hard (55 elite). I killed him 4 times and he was able to kill 8 players out of the 20 involved. Best bet is to play aggro ping pong between 2 or 3 chars.

My orc warrior, Farnum, on the Shadowmoon pvp server just got this sword from Eranikus. Luckily, I was the only member of my party that rolled on it and now i'm using it tank.

Is it worth getting crusader on it at lvl 55 or should I wait for a "better" tank weapon? I'm only 1 righteous orb away.

And I still have to run ST to get crest of supremacy...

When i was a lvl 48 rogue a couple of guildies were 4-maning ST, when they got 2 Eranikus they wiped... so they asked if i wanted 2 go since i was the only 1 on.
Long story short i got this sword at lvl 48 as a rogue. the warrior was mad but he got over it :P

This sword never dropped on my warrior but it did when i ran ST on my rogue. I was the only person in the grp that was capable of equipping a sword and this dumb a$% noob druid named zaramus(lvl 51) rolls need on the sword. Anyway he wins the need roll, leaves party, hearthes, ignores us and logs off. That is seriously *$%#ed up! First time ive ever seen that sword drop after playing wow for almost 2 years. I dont think ill ever see it again.

the first run of ST this droped and i lost it to a warrior then i ran it again and it didnt drop and the 3rd time it droped and i got it! im so happy it proc alot! wish i wulda got the first 1 and i might be duel weilding these :P

only other person who needed was a dagger rogue.
i now dual wield this with dal'rend main hand.

Man! I've been running Sunken Temple for about 1 month non-stop, but have had no luck at this sword what-so-ever. I hope it drops soon, or else i'll just give it up.

Someone from my guild asked me if he could summon me to ST to just defeat a boss.. all the prework was done.. This guy was a warrior (lvl 58) and aiming for this sword. There was another warrior (lvl 60) in the group and I'm a Rogue (lvl 60) us 3 rolled need and I won. I couldn't really believe my luck.

I had been prosponing ST for a while and eventually abbandoned all the quests and the whole instance. And than this happened. I have now Sword of Zeal main Dragon's call off hand. I like the damage I don't like the speed my Hanzo Sword (off hand) applied twice as many poisons. But my first epic YAY :)

This dropped today when I ran with a PuG - 2 locks, a priest, a holy pally and myself. I'm a prot spec tankadin and was in dire need of a new blade. Despite the fact we all claimed what items we'd be needing on beforehand (I claimed this one, even though the lot of us had strong doubts it would drop), I never did get this. Thanks to the damn holy pally that decided he should also need roll on it at the last minute...

I'm a lvl 53 dwarf warrior on Alleria, thinking about running the dragonkin side of this instance for this one and only sword, love the chance on hit. Wish the chance was higher tho. Duel wielding these means your gunna be able to take enemy's up to about 5-6 levels above you, this is definitly a sword for warriors and also rogues, I would ask before the instance started that I was going to need this sword if it drops no matter what, not ninja it though, well ahve fun hope you get it, me too!

Ran this about 6 times this morning just for dragon's call, got one on my 4th run and one on my 6th run, used a 70 rogue to clear the way and just used warrior following behind for the swords.

Also duelwielding the proc seems to be crap, will proc maybe once in three kills if that

Keep in mind the whelp proccan also pull higher level mobs you don't want. I did a dungeon with someone who had it and it pulled two extra packs.

Confirmed this weapon exist in classic. Just dropped on our first ST run and I must have the luckiest toon as we did Mara right before and the Princess dropped her Epic dagger, Blade of Eternal Darkness
