They are mined from dark iron deposits and they have a drop rate of about 0.5%. Theyre used for rep with the Thorium Brotherhood, and for various Thorium Brotherhood recipes. Its also used for the enchanting recipe Smoking Heart of the Mountain.

Where can I find the black forge? I have got all the pieces, but have not been able to find the black forge. To enable me to to craft the item. I have been in 3 times and have not found the forge. Where should I be looking?

Got it off for 60g on Nathrezim for a priest friend. Original offer was for 80g. After reading the above post, am satisfied that I got a good deal.

Found two of these tonight, within about an hour of each other, in Searing Gorge. One was from a Dark Iron Ore vein in the North West corner near the Twilight camp. The other was from a vein on the ridge in the South West corner, just a bit north of the ramp leading into Blackrock Mountain.

Had a good run... 30 Thorium ores, 1 Arcane Crystal, 1 Blue Sapphire, 20 Dark Iron Ore, 20 Mithril ore, 10 Gold ore, 13 Truesilver ore, 3 Silver ore, and last, but definitely not least, the satisfaction of knowing that the Chinese gold farmers that were farming Burning Steppes and Searing Gorge at the same time are just that little bit poorer from me being there. :D

im a lvl 46 and a miner and was running around searing gorge and found one :) its weird cus ive only mined like 10 dark iron veins in my life...guess i got lucky

Never got a blood from a dark iron before... Just mined one right next to the refuge, blood x2, and 4 ore =)

I wanted a couple for some Dark Iron gloves. My guild has a ton of cores. A lot of bars. No blood. I personally (outside of guild runs) have mined about 400 dark iron. 1 blood. Are we really just that unlucky?

I was mining in Burning Steppes and while mining Dark Iron ore I got this gem.

The only mob listed to have dropped it was Molten Destroyer at the admirable droprate of 0.1%. How lame. They should give the same droprate to the enemies of all the Blackrock Mountain instances, 0.1% isn't that much of a handout.

I just got one tonight off a Dark Iron Vein. Only found 1 in the ah it was going for 45-50g I believe.

I got one from the Dark Iron Ore deposit just before Bael'Gar in BRD.

For a server that doesn't farm molten core terribly often, and when they do, they don't go out of their way to mine the deposits, is it unreasonable to put one up for a sell price of 200g starting bid?

It may just have been luck, but these seem to be mined much more frequently from Molten Core Dark Iron Deposits than they are from Blackrock Depths deposits.

I think these are virtually unheard of in world drops (i.e. dark iron veins in the world zone not in the dungeons). I got one from a dark iron vein that spawned inside Morgan's Vigil (I have also gotten a small thorium vein in there), but in the dozens of other veins, nothing.

Several people have said the drop rate is much, much better in the dungeons, so maybe I'll try there...if I can find a group.

Just looted mine from a Dark Iron Deposit in Burning Steppes. And this is on the same day that I got an Arcane Crystal and Large Opal from the same vein, got a Blue Sapphire and Aquamarine from separate veins and sold an Enchanting formula for 35g. Man, I am on fire!

Edit: I just got another Arcane Crystal, and I'm bloody ecstatic. :)
Edit 2: ANOTHER Arcane Crystal. I'm beside myself with happiness.

Went mining in Searing Gorge and...

1st node = just ore
2nd node = ore,arcane crystal
3rd node = just ore
4th node = just ore
5th node = just ore
6th node = blood of the mountain
7th node = 2x blood of the mountain
Random rare spawn mob = recipe for enchanting
8th node = just ore
9th node = ore,arcane crystal

total value from my 1 hour of mining 300g

how much faction is this worth compared to a stack of ore?

I believe that these (and black diamonds) loot far more often in molten core, more often in BRD and extremely rarely in world deposits, personally I have mined 200 ores as world loot, no gems, 40 in BRD, 1 blood and around 80 in MC with 2 diamonds and I believe 2 of these.

50g tops - they go for 30-35 normally
