This key allows entry to most of the gates within Stratholme.

With this key, you can take the back enterence into Stratholme, making a Baron run less of a hassle.

The mob that drops this key only drops one for the whole party, so it may drop a few times before you win it. The mob that drops this is off to the right of the gate that takes you to where the Rammstein event occurs.

The Magistrate, right next to the gate in front of Baron's house, drops this. Only one can be found, and it allows you to go into Strat the back way. Drops almost every time, and it isn't that hard to get.

It does drop everytime... that you have someone in the run who needs it.

If you already have one then you won't SEE the roll again, you can see in the roll/passing in the loot dialog you will never again see it drop. So to say "almost" every time means that you already have one and don't know if it dropped again, or everyone in your run had a copy so it won't be seen by anyone there.

Last night we had one person in the run who didn't have it, we knew this because he was the only one able to pass, so we told him to pick it up.

If none of your group members have the key, you have to take long way through Startholme (Entrance Front) and Magistrate Barthilas will spawn at the back entrance (#7 on the map).

If you have entered Strat from the back (Entrance Side), Magistrate will spawn at the Baron's gate.

Where could that side entrance be at? There is a road straight up to front entrance in plaguewood.. but didn't find side door.

Can you leave the instance through the back entrance, or is it like the front and once your in, your not coming out?

The sevice entrance gate can be lockpicked and chances are that someone in a 10 man raid has the key.

I've never actualy seen a group random on it. Most the time whoevers the corpse "Belongs" to takes the key and no one says anything. Unless that person already has the key and then it gets randomed on. I guess people on my server just dont care about the thing or something.

The key is a Green now, so everyone can roll need or greed on it.. although most ppl just roll need or pass.

But yes, before when it was a white it was somewhat confusing as to who would take it.

Obtaining this key is technically soloable at level 70, at least with certain classes, although is pretty hard. I did it with a mostly blue geared BM hunter. In fact, I did not even die, although I had to feign death and sacrifice my pet few times.

Since you have no key, you will be forced to enter through the central gates. Magistrate Barthilas will be spawned in the church near the service entrance. So you have to fight your way through nasty 7 mobs pulls (with 2-3 elites in each). Some of them could be skipped, but I recommend to clear most of them, otherwise you will be at risk of aggroing them at wrong time with certain death as result. Kill wandering ghouls and abominations, before pulling 7 mobs pulls.

Magistrate himself was not easy for me either. I had hard time keeping my pet alive... and I have a very strong, heavy tank specced pet. So good luck, you will need it.

Ha! I'm a prot pali but I've had bugger all luck getting anyone interested enough to do it with me. Level 67 soloed everything on the charger quest and ready for the final stage. Still waiting to find a group... .=(

Drops off the Magistrate. I have done Strat many times and I have always seen it drop. It allows the usage of the entrance straight into the Undead/Baron side of the instance.

The Magistrate is in two different places depending on where you zoned into the instance. If you went into the Scarlet side, the Magistrate will be right where the two sections connect. If you go into the Undead/Baron side, the Magistrate will be outside the gates that lead to the Baron

Of course, if you're a rogue with maxed lockpicking, you don't need this key.

The best way is to just find a nice 70 tank with the key, let ya in, and make a quick run to the magistrate. Its what I did, and at the same time the epic horde pally quest is about 60 yards from the gate at the back door.

This key has no longer use since all gates are unlocked.

I think Rogues need skill 300 to unlock these doors.

Blacksmith's archanite key does not work!
FYI: Just in case you tried what I did.

Needed to get into the side entrance for the paladin mount quest. I was a level 61 paladin and my compadre a level 64 paladin soloed through the main entrance back to the key giver.

We ended up soloing Arthus and his 5 60 elite henchmen. Was probably the best time in wow I have had in a long time. You can do it dual paladins.
