buff will not stack with poison. Use it and it will pop up the "Want to replace..." dialog.

i always use this in molten core, as the mobs there are immune to nature or something that prevents my poison to afflict them.
also it's generally good on your main hand, because +8 damage is more than you might think, your ambushes und backstabs will crit higher with this.

ps: no, you cannot use it on arrows, it's for melee weapons only.

I tried to use one of these on my Black Knight sword, and it said "Target is too low level". The Black Knight is a superior main-hand sword requiring level 26, though I am currently level 36. The stone says it requires level 35, but that's me, not my weapon, right? What gives? It did work on my Stalvan's Reaper, a superior one-hand axe (my off-hand weapon), even though it requires me to be only level 32.

This is a good alternative for poisons, in case a boss is immune to poison and stuns.

im wonderin how this stone affects the dmg. does it just add 9 dmg pr hit. or does it affect the dmg-range?

ex: default dmg range of a wep: 200-300
is it them 208-308 shapened?

1.5 speed dagger = 5.3DPS = 37.3 Strength = 74.6 attack power.
2.0 speed sword = 4DPS = 28 Strength = 56 attack power.
2.5 speed = 3.2DPS = 22.4 Strength = 45 attack power.
3.0 speed = 2.6DPS = 18.6 Strength = 37.3 attack power.
4.0 speed = 2DPS = 14 Strength = 28 attack power.

Just so you know, 1 handed weapons gain 1DPS about every 1 - 1.5 levels. 2-Handed weapons gain 1DPS about every level.

This stone can add about 2 - 6 levels worth of damage on to your weapon (faster gets more benefit). For those of you that know how good it is to get a new weapon, it's actually a significant boost. I guarantee you will pay off the entire stack with just one stone.

Will it works on ambush/backstabs?

Ambush 300% weapon damage
Backstab 180% weapon damage (imp backstab)

+8 weapon damage x 300% = +24dmg on ambush, or +40dmg-50dmg at crit ambush, that is a lot.

Will it add that mutch to ambushes or?

I gathered ~20 hits with the same wpn, both in main and off hand, with and without dense sharpening stone. Wpn: Vorpal dagger of stamina with +3 enchanting dmg bonus, which has a speed of 1.6.
I gathered offhand dmg by deleting the crappy dmg numbers from my empty main hand.
Main hand
- average dmg was 55.4 without sharpening
- average dmg was 59.6 with sharpening
Not a bad result.

off hand
- average dmg was 28.2 without sharpening
- average dmg was 30.2 with sharpening.

So sharpening stone does help with this speed wpn. Whether it is worth it or not to apply it when they go for 4gp per stack in the AH is up for debate.

I went to the Master Blacksmith but he wont talk to me...I am lvl 182 Blacksmithng. Does anyone no if there is any other way of getting the plan/recipe? Is my skill lvl too low?

There is a very popular enchant for dagger rogues, which is +5 dmg, the mats are pretty expensive on my server, running about 100 gold. (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=20156/defilers-chain-greaves)<-- Mats. This 5dmg is great, but these sharpening stones own. 5dmg along with the 8 gives a total of 13dmg. 13 dmg could easily make the difference between a dagger being classified as Rare or Epic. Its extremely useful in PvP or PvE. These stones are a MUST have for any dagger rogue.

Sharpening weapons will not remove enchants but if you are a rogue and have a poison in use it will remove it.

so... does this actually make ambushes higher at lower levels? because +8 weapon damage on ambushes in 30s bracket would make a huge difference. It seems too good to be true

These are a nice DPS boost to warriors that mine/smith, since dense stone is in no way rare, you can keep em on pretty much all the time. Only reagent is 1 dense stone a pop.

Im lvl 250 in BS and standing by Brikk Keencraft right now. There are no plans he can teach me - so how do I learn to make these damn Sharpening Stones? And no, I dont already know how to make them :)
