Ok, here is the deal for Rogues. Regardless how much AP you have, you will not out-DPS a rogue with significantly higher crit%. Theres gotta be a balance between AP and crit% and Agility does the trick the best. So this is my take on the chestpieces discussed on this post.

Ranking:
1. Nightslayer
2. ZG Tunic
3. BoB

NB Tunic #5 Reasoning:
Almost 0 dodge% and crit%, +50 AP, FR, and mediocre armor. I deal more dmg from SC Tunic and Tombstone Breastplate due to the increase crit%. +AP is way overrated, I would take Agility any day over a pure +AP item becasue it gives AP, crit%, dodge%, armor, etc. Dealing DMG as a rogue is more about crit% than your top AP rating. You think you can go head to head with an epic'd protection spec warrior if you have an AP build with no crit%? Forget it.

Stormshroud #4 Reasoning:
+2 crit%, +1 dodge%, thats about it. I would rather use SC Tunic because of the +agility and +stamina. Agility give so many bonuses to AP, crit%, dodge%, hit%, armor, etc that I cannot ever do a strict crit% build. Some balance between the AP and crit% must be made. This is a nice piece however I just choose not to use it.

BoB #3 Reasoning:
+2 crit%, +1 dodge%, 200HP, 13 AP. The second best chestpiece in the game before MC, beats out Tombstone for sure and it is a bit better than SC Tunic only because I would take more crit% over a bit less AP. I have SC Hat, Legs, and Shoulders which give me plenty of Agility and Stamina plus the +2 daggers which increases hit% and crit%.

Zandalar Madcap's Tunic
2% crit, +44 AP, 190HP, great armor. This is better than BoB because it has equal crit% chance and higher AP. It is also WAY EASIER to get.

Nightslayer #1 Reasoning:
Best armor, 39 AP, 200 HP, +FR, +2 crit%, greater than +2 dodge%. No explanation needed.

Many, many guilds are in a position where most of them are in full tier 1, including Nightslayer -- but they still run UBRS now and then with mains or alts and the skin does drop once in a blue moon. The roll is usually a greed roll, and chances are the feral druid in the group has a couple of good friends and if they win it and aren't dying for gold, why wouldn't they give him the skin?

It's not really relevant if this beats Nightslayer. It doesn't, and it shouldn't. But, for a feral druid (and they do exist, they're fun to play, they can tank most things just fine and some things superbly) this is a truly excellent piece, for the various reasons already outlined above.

So the bloody thing has a purpose, and if you don't feel it's for you, rest assured it's for somebody.

Def a nice piece for both Rogues AND Feral Droods.

Bought out my pristine hide for 700g! On my server thats really good. Still debating if I want to make it at all now, or just flip the hide for more gold. Used a good portion of my reserves, I'm almost broke...ha!

This thing SCREAMS bearform. It may look hawt for cat, but you're actually better off getting Cadaverous Armor or something similar.

For bearform, however, this thing is INCREDIBLE. Part of bear's weakness is that Agi doesn't give AP, like it does for cat. And Str is of only limited value; Bearform gets far better mileage for holding aggro off of crits rather than raw damage from normal hits. The 2% crit, then, is amazing, especially considering it's mixed with more or less PURE BEAR stats -- 190 AR, which equates out to 874 (W/O Thick Hide); 20 Stamina (24 in Bear form); and 1% dodge, which being that druids don't get to parry or block with a shield, is a great stat for tanking. It's not good to base a tanking gear setup AROUND dodge, but when you've got an item built like this thing is... it's just incredible.

EDIT: As for this as a cat item, I feel I should mention why: A lot of serious feral druids use the DPS-scale you can find on the druid forums. By that scale, BoB is worth somewhere around 75 DPS-points; Cadaverous is somewhere around 96.

IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU NEED. This chest is good for you if your cat form is seriously lacking survivability, for example; 20 stam, 1% dodge and 190 ar helps immensely. If you have 1100 AP but 20% crit, this chest is, again, going to be incredibly useful for you, moreso that something that adds just AP is probably going to be.

If you've got the Hide, don't hesitate to make it. Bearform has its uses even if you're specced and only want to play cat; it's worth making, even if for you, it's not the most efficient item to put in the chest slot for catform.

lets say i get a pair of SC gloves, 14 agility, then enchant them with (im not mad, this is just an example) +15 agility. then i have a pair of gloves with more crit and attack power than nightslayer! yeah!, but wait, that dude over there with the nightslayer gloves has +15 agility on those too! oh woe is me, my world has been shattered, the MC gear is better than my blues! big supprise -.-

those of you who dont raid dont need to make poor "with encahnts its better than...." excuses. no one judges you for not raiding so stop trying to justify something that requires no justification with crap excuses. all items of the same slot can carry the same enchants so they must be discounted when making comparisons

its good for rogues yea, but its better for feral kitty druids.
each point of str on a feral is 2.4 ap, so this chest gives a far better ap bonus to the old feral folks. Also, the high armour is amazing for bear if that should happen. Ever wondered how ferals can get 14k armour?considering theres soooo much more a rogue can get in comparison to ferals, i think it be better off, but if you wanna have it and your a rogue, i wont bat an eyelid...ill just flinch a bit...

If your rogue is an alt and you have a main with 5,000g sitting around, I highly recommend this tunic if your too lazy to get knight captain. This tunic seriously is a joke

Hopefully this helps. If you can't tell, Breastplate of Bloodthirst is not the best choice. I posted the tunics I thought were worth posting, anything above or below this is pretty obvious imho. But here's a shortened version of AEP.

1 agility = 1 stamina = 2 strength = 2 AP = .2% hit = .2% dodge = .1% crit

If the armor on this thing were closer to 300 I might try to get this, but after being able to pvp for pvp epic armor, I would rather spend 500g on something more important.

PvP epic chest= about 20-25 hours of pvp and its free

This thing= hopefully about 15-20 hours in Strat and scholo getting the quest items if nobody else needs them and 500g if you dont get the hide to drop.

I'm a rogue, and i must say that if you're patient in getting the mats required to complete the quest, this piece is definately worth it. I don't have Finkle's skinner or Zulian slicer, so I just watched the AH patiently for somenone to sell the hide for cheap. I didn't jump at the first 500g posting and was able to pick it up for 150g. +50g for quest, and around 120g for arcanite put the total gold at 320 for me. Plus the time involved in getting the other mats in scholo and strat runs. (which coincidentally will help you recoup a good chunk of that gold). I'm using it instead of my SC tunic. Total stat bonuses losses wound up something like this:

+ 0.83 crit
+ 70hp (always helpful)
- 13 AP (not extremely significant)
- 1.13% dodge (not a biggy)
- 12 spirit (who cares)

and with loss of set bonus
- 219 armor (significant but armor is not a real priority for me)

The crit is significant to me, puts me at 24.97% to crit (unbuffed). For 5-10 man dungeons, or even starting out in raids, the crit really shines.
Plus, it looks cool and not a lot of people have it. I've only seen one or two others on my server with it.

I was very excited when I first received this quest, and looked forward to this chest piece. (I'm a rogue) After really looking at this chest piece, and looking at the bonuses, and the COLOSSAL amount of time and money that goes into getting this, it's really not worth it. If you are in a guild that is doing any endgame instance, this armor will quickly be replaced by the armor that you receive from there. I would say that all the time and money that was invested into upgrading your SC to DM would be a much better investment for rogues than getting this piece. Let the druids waste their time and money on this.

With TBC hitting the street they just upgrade the armor of the item to 217 and they think that `its ok - its worth it'? I just got a lvl59 green item from outland that has similar (or maybe even better stats) both for feral druids and rogues for the tremendous amount of 10g. WHAT THE HELL are they thinking to put items like BoB out there. Give this item at least 370+ armor and I will think of getting it.

Considering you have to spend hundreds of hours raiding for the mats to this, it is nothing short of dissapointing. The problem is its not suited toward any one specific class. The druid will make most of the pure stats, while a rogue will make better use of its special abilities. In fact for a rogue, its nothing more than an upgraded Stormshroud. The few AC points is obviously a non factor. The strength is less than 1 dps, also a nonfactor. So that leaves the only bonus worth noting being the +20 to stamina, and that does not define "epic" by any stretch of the imagination. The other epic leather chestpieces totally destroy this, yet it is rated as level 62 epic....

i will have one as soon as the Auction for my last Arcanite Bar ends, should be within the next 4 hours. And yes, whoever said that if you can get this then you are probably in a guild able to run MC, you are wrong. I can't get Nightslayer at the moment, so this is next best thing. Anyway, its a big acomplishment to get this thing.

What's sad is that this is worse than the Nightbrace Tunic. Sure, +100 HP, +2/3% Dodge, +1 5/6% crit, a little bit of armor; but at the expense of 42 Attack Power and 10 FR/SR. And with 14 Attack Power giving the same DPS increase as 1% crit does, this BoB is a PoS. Nightbrace FTW (again...). Actually, the Nightbrace gives even less +DPS than the Cadaverous Armor, although that has no Sta and so I just ignore it heh.

I have this on my Feral Druid and it is truly an awesome piece of equipment. Before I was just using Warbear Harness which is overdue at lvl 60. In Bear form I get about 961 armor which isn't too shabby.

I am also sick of druids stealing the high end rogue gear. With rogue population being as high as it already is we don't need another class to come in and try to get our stuff. Make more str with crit gear and make it unappealing to rogues due to gear that is similar but with agi.

It doesn't say it's only for 'rogue' class. Thereby, any leather wearers are free to roll on it. Druids can use this as effectively as a rogue can while in Direbear form which is why they would want it at all.

For a Feral druid w/HoTW it's actually 2.4 AP per strength point for cat by the way. I'm using the item for bear form though, all that crit means lots of rage (my no-raiding-invovled set will have 11.8k armor 6.2k hit points, 16% dodge and 25.6% crit with MotW and LoTP accounted in that). I'm getting this as soon as I get some Arcanite Bars (the only thing I have left to get). It may be easier to save up the money to get a Pristine Hide of the Beast than to actually skin it from the Beast since everyone will be greedy I'm sure about a BoE epic item. I got a PHotB for 250g from the AH a couple days ago. I'm planning on using this chest for possibly for PvP and definetely tanking.

Got this armor on my rogue, i love this.
I get extreme luck by getting the best roll on the pristine hide, and counting this moment i get helped by my friends for getting the priority on all required items to create this armor. Lot of advantages, the stamina on it is a good thing, i regret the use of +13 str, no realy enjoyable, but well...it's an excellent armor, and look realy nice in middle of shadowcraft.
If you have the possibility to do that quest, do it, you'll not regret.

i just got the hide and only need the bars. and youre wrong. im currently guildless and applying to one but ive never been to mc. never been past ubrs. havent done onyxia. so to say that its better to get nightslayer yea..youre half right..but if you cant get it the breastplate is your next best choice. besides its no so much that its the greatest piece of armor to get its just such an accomplishment to have something hat rare and something that takes so much commitment. yea.

as of 1.7 i tried to get this quest.. however the 2 items in the book are both mail.. so either the quest is borked or u cant get it anymore..

youre obviously just upset that you havent got a BoP yet.

and 13 str = 13 ap = ~1dps
2% crit (according to you) = 2dps

then i still have the same boost as if i had 39 ap, but i get 2% more crits.

considering i use Seal Fate, id rather do more crits then hit slightly harder.

and finally, this one looks sexy, Nightbrace does not.
plus you can brag about having an epic.

...this armor will already be inadequate. I've been two Skin of Shadow away from getting this armor for about two weeks now and I don't care to finish it. Why? I have the Nightslayer Chestpiece anyway. Nightslayer is by far better than Breastplate of Bloodthirst in every aspect.

There's a good chance that most players who can get this are in Molten Core already. I know everyone on my server (to my knowledge only 3 people) that have this armor all run Molten Core and have access to better.

Just went through hell and high water to get this thing - seven Strat runs and 4 Scholo in two days for the last of my stitchings and skins. And you know what? It was worth it. I'm _loving_ this thing, I can really feel the difference. Y'all can bark all day and night about how much better nightslayer is, but us cats can't get that. This baby is about as good as it gets.

all the people that say ns is easier to get is wrong, it takes alot of raiding and some people really cannot raid that much... ITs really a hard concept but i think you will understand it soon.

you guys are retarded 20 stam> all. 2 crit and 1 dodge would allow me the luxury of having over 30 dodge while still having 26-27 crit chance.
13 str is 13 AP~1 dps. I can put run speed on pads of dreadwolf. 20 stam with 100 hp means 300 life from just a chest piece.

I got this bp a couple of days ago and i think blizz should upgrade this item. It is good if u are a combat rogue but need mroe atk power for such rare item(I am the 2nd rogue who gets it on my server.
