Run live strat, I usually see 3-5 drop per run. And Archivist Galford almost always drops one, so you'll doubtfully ever have a run with no orb drops.

Strat scarlet run is a nice way to get fast money. Yep you usually get 3-5 orbs each run. So everyone in your party will get 1 orb to sell. On most servers they sell for around 40~60g.

yup, farming live strat is what a lot of people do for good money. getting these just to sell them, or to sell crusader enchant is a good idea.

Righteous Orbs are a goldmine with the latest patch. Due to so many people obtaining rank 14 weapons everyone wants crusader and +healing to weapon. Stock up on these as quickly as possible as some have already been selling for double what they were last week.

Price has considerably dropped since TBC came out... everyone wants the new enchants which does not include Righteous Orbs.

This item sells for around 50-60G on my server (Spinebreaker EU) so I think 50G is a safe price for most people.

Usually sell for as low as 13g each on Executus, chinese farmer mages in Stratholme with random names.

Any way to successfully farm them as a well geared 70 affliction warlock? Even the first couple pulls are insanely hard, as SoC pops and kills the nonelites, but the 4-5 elites still have plenty of health.

Im quoting exactly from one of the comments under archivist galford,

have been killing him several times solo as a 70 rogue using different methods. For fastest runs I sprint through all undead packs from entrance and through the "rat cage" then vanish straight to the left after the cage, sprint allows you to run through and not get caught between the barred gates.

The times I did not get an orb drop was when I skipped all mobs in Scarlet side as well as when I only cleared the cathedral court-yard. I thought maybe getting Timmy to spawn would act as a trigger for Galford's loot table.

To get an orb (still not 100% cause the droprate isn't 100%) I clear the yard and the corridor where Galford is located. Have worked about 90% of the runs I've done so far. I am currently testing Certain numbers of mobs killed to get an orb.
Clearing yard + corridor yields 30 kills. I'm trying all numbers upwards from 20-30 atm.

Gonna report if I find something that seems to work other than corridor + yard clear.

I found that the Archivist drop rate has been reduced. The two that I did get dropped off of the Monks there.

These are easily farmed by a 70 protection-spec Paladin. You have to pull the Scarlet mobs around corners to stack them all up for Consecration because there are a lot of casters in the groups. Also, remember that they run for help, so be sure you pull them into a safe area.

Galford is easy to solo as well, and he almost always drops an orb.

I've been farming strat for orbs and other goodies for a few days now and after I've also been experimenting with galford's loot table. I think the trigger is related to the messages you get after clearing certain mobs. For example, I'm almost certain at this point that you only have to clear the courtyard and the group of scarlets at the end of the corridor BEFORE the corridor Galford's room comes off of.
When you kill that group, you get message saying something to the effect of "The scourge have broken through our defenses!" and a group of scourge will run down the hall and into the last corridor. In my experience, you don't actually have to kill them or anyone in the last hallway to get an orb off Galford.

Once I tried skipping most of the scarlet in the courtyard and only killing the group in front of the door, at which point I got a message that was sort of like "Help defend the stairs!" and a few nearby scarlet ran up to attack me. At this point Timmy spawned and I killed him and the scarlet that had aggroed, killed the group that triggers the scourge, then Galford. Unfortunately, an orb didn't drop and I haven't felt like risking it again to see if it was just the 10% or so chance not to drop or if you actually need to clear the courtyard to get it.

To rogues with enchanting: orbs aren't the only way to make money farming strat. Large brilliant shards and greater eternal essences (basically any high fifties enchanting stuff) still sells well to people looking to level their enchanting. Therefore, I'd recommend not only killing Galford, but Timmy and Balnazar (If you can take him) as well. Afterward, go around to the service entrance and kill the Magistrate for an additional shard (if you came in through the main entrance, he will be by the chapel by the service entrance, having not run to his other spot). If you feel like you had a pretty bad hull that run, I would also recommend killing one or more of the bosses guarding ziggurats, as they not only drop a blue, but sometimes a BoP green as well which can mean up to 3 greater eternal essences or 5 illusion dusts.

Afterward, go out the service entrance, reset, then into the main entrance and repeat. Happy farming.

not sure about EPL, but they do drop from WPL up in Hearthglen off a few of the elites there,still it's a low chance off any elite, run Strats Scarlet side and you'll most likely see an orb.

I did nearly 10 Strat runs for the epic robe, and saw that pattern 2 times. (First time I rolled 2... and I lost. Second time I got it) But I couldn't get any of that orb, even 3 times out of 10 there wasn't any orb dropped.
But I'm happy I got the pattern:Truefaith Vestment.
Drop rate is definitely on your luck~!

Got two of them to drop last night running Stratholme with my guildmates (didn't win the roll for either of them). On Shadow Council right now, these babies are selling for 100+ G a pop! I want two for a Crusader enchant, so you'd better believe I'll be joining a lot of Strat raids..!

Europe/ Arathor: Last night the

Righteous Orbs where being sold for 50-90G a piece,
Large Brilliant Shards where being sold for 7-10G a piece,
The Crusader formulas where being sold for 250-300 a piece.

Not a lot of Orbs in AH, only 2. Probably bad droprates as usual, but they where going pretty cheap. I've seen worse, starting price at 100G.

My enchanter also enchants for free as long as they have the reagents (or most of them) But they always come back screaming after checking AH :))

Some say: "Go get the reagents yourself" Yeah true, I do.. But sometimes it makes me mad... Like when you're in a 'team'.. One gets it because he says he needs it for blacksmithing or enchanting whatever, later on when you check AH you'll see that HE put it in there. Needed for blacksmithing my azsssssshara. Same with armors and weapons "I need it!" "Dude, you are already wearing it" "No I'm not" :))

u can't farm mobs iN Strath. They are in big groups and 55+. 2 of these dropped in my Strath grp last nite. I won one and sold it for 70g

What I'm wondering is, why the hell are these selling for so freakin' much on the AH? It's common that 3-4 drop PER run on Scarlet side.
The going price is on average 75g on my server (Gorefiend) which is more than a nexus crystal.
Let me remind you: you have to disenchant a freakin' epic to get a nexus crystal.

Tell me why disenchanting epic items goes for the same price as a common drop in Scarlet Stratholme?
(Not to mention that it's 10x easier to get a Righteous Orb over an epic item)

Just doesn't make sense...

they sell because they are used in popular enchants such as 55+ healing, and some people really are too lazy and will pay the price demanded for these rather than PuG a strat run to get one.

The price of Righteous Orbs shot up due to the lack of people running stratholme. Now that some time has passed the price has started to work it's way down.

Laughing Skull:

Pre-TBC - 40g / Righteous Orb

TBC - 60-80g / Righteous Orb

Several months after - 40-50g / Righteous Orb

As of 06-15-2007: Archivist no longer has a guaranteed drop rate of these orbs, at least if you are solo...yes...it's confirmed. 4 runs and nothing. He dropped the food tome even...and no orb. Orbs still drop plentiful from inside the cathedral as they always have. I would say they are the same rate inside the cathedral as always, even as solo farming.

Thats the truth about the orbs, just clear the inside and you should get 1-2 or more.

How do I get to the live area? The detect stealth mobs see me pretty easily.

I do not think any caster can solo this place. I am a frost mage and i was able to get the the human part of it without that much of a problem after I figured out what to do. You just need to clear 2 groups in the beginning and kill the shades.

once you get to the human side it's pretty hard. You have to fight 4 elites, 2 which can heal and 2 which have a charge/knockdown. The knockdown stops casting and they have shield slam which blocks out your tree for 10 seconds.

i could see a rogue or hunter able to solo this place but probably not the other classes.

I tried to go there with my 70 Hunter.. it's not hard.. But it's also not easy..

Biggest problem is getting past the first part (Past a couple of undeads) they come in mobs of 6-8 including 2 or 3 Elites.

The problem is when you get diseased.. If you do you might as well give up (if you can't recover from it).. It does so much damage that not even eating level 65 food will recover ANY health whatsoever.. And that 10 minutes long.. After mob 4 I gave up.. I had to wait 10 minutes after each for the disease to go away.

I'm lvl 70 mage with mostly gladiator/honor pvp gear and wome nice pve gear aswel and been soloing this palce since long time ago. usualyl get 1-2 orbs/ru but got up to 8 st one run aswel. Im moslty frost specc and balnazzar is doable with 2 water elementals and some kind of healig poot :), gl to all farmers out there. btw really nice place to farm, I earn alot of gold in there :)

Solable?

Yes that's for sure.
First u fight some non elite skeletons. No problem.
You can awoid almost all groups and patrols in there.
Even when u standing really close to them, they wont attack you.
Note: kill eye, cause they will bring elite gargoyles on you.
Rat trap: first time i did it just useing my Magma Totem, but it tooks me almost all mana, my sugestion is to realese Fire elemental on them.
Living Side: well u want to kill them all cause they can drop orb any time. Kill healers as first (initiate), use earth elemental on groups 3 or 4 elites. When your elemental is on cooldown just use Stoneclaw Totem. Not so good but its better then nothing. Don't boter of mages, i ressisted almost all this &*!@y spells.
After first room Timmy killed me. If u have Earth elemental ready, u can use him and just nuke Timmy. If not...well u can try anyway :)
I died again when runing healer called for help so wath for those runers. I died like 4 times and get to first batlle mage, no orb droped.

Worth it?

No !
All this time, repair costs and low drop rate make this crazy. I rather go to do some quest 7-12g per q and buy orbs on AH. Its lot faster. Farming orbs solo its pain in the ass for the shammy...

Im farming this very easy as an frost mage , im walking in on the Strat Baron side , and just go to the left , this way i get to kill the rare mob and the invisible boss, thats 2 shards there.
Got 6 Righteous orbs in a run 2 days ago , the minimum orbs per run is 2.

I farm Strat scarlet alot, one to two runs a day,
I'm an enchanter ofc and its really is needed for this to be worth it.
Right now I am a shadow step rogue with full pvp gear.
At the moment I spend 40-45min clearing entire strat scarlet 35min being my best run., drops are as following for me.
8-9 large shards,
2-5 orbs
120-160 runecloth
and a random number of greens for D/E
in addidion to this there are usually around 10gold in gray drops as well, and a recipe for either shadow reflector or +9 intellect on weapon from time to time.
Even had an epic drop of stockade pauldrons.
this translates into 200-400 gold on my server after I sell it all on AH.. not to bad for a 45min run. 1hour if you include traveling as well. This is how I farmed my epic flying mount in 10days

Ran this last night with my holy pally. Im full kara epic geared, and so i can clear all mobs. I would kill the skeleys cause they drop some good blues, dropped a staff I sold for 70g. Souleater i thin it was called. it was a level 49 staff. Anyway got to the castle, had a few issues with the damn pally's healing, but stun and arcane torrent kept them from healing themselves. Although I would attack the non healers first, seems the healers care less about them, so you can down them easier.
Had 3 orbs fall, and few blue including girdle of valor and the pally plate waist.
took me about 2 hours to clear all trash and castle but got a ton of drops. I usually farm herbs and sell them but I think this is faster and more fun. althougha few deaths in epic plate gear will erase what ever you get for an orb.

Ran start last night with some guildees, started just helpin buddy get his epic pally quest then ppl came online, so we got a solid group of 4 70's and a 70 cleared Scarlet side in like 10 mins, 15 orbs dropped, i won them all lol, so the drop rate has definatly increased.

Hmm did my first run today since 1.10 and we got a massive amount of 10 orbs over the whole run. Since in 1.09 we had at best 2 orbs if not 0 im wondering if anyone else has had such a high droprate or if it was only pure luck.

Guild Run:

Level 63 Fury Warrior (me)
Level 62 Frost Mage
Level 62 Ret Paladin
Level 61 Ret Paladin
Level 61 Holy Paladin
(almost half of my guild is made up of paladins :P)

Cleared Live in no time... it was a cakewalk, and it was very satisfying to completely obliterate everything in sight :P

We didn't just do this for fun, though--we each needed righteous orbs for different reasons (I wanted it for my crusader enchant, as even with the nerf its still one of the best weapon enchants for DW fury warriors), and one the pallys needed stuff for their epic mount quest. We pretty must just mass DPS'd and plowed through the whole thing until Balzanaar, at which point I had to tank.

More than anything, though, I've never been on a strat run where I've had so much fun... we're probably going to make strat live runs a common thing now (since we're always in demand for righteous orbs).

I solo Strat Live daily for these orbs. It's probly the best instance for money making other then Dire Maul East (if ur an herbalist). Well, good luck to everyone that needs to worry about ninja looting.

why would they put this as a component in an awesome enchant since these instances are obsolete. there is no point in making them a component since on a low pop server they are very rare.

Its possible to solo FULLY strat light with a feral druid 70!
I did and do it for gold and shards, Its prety easy and nice cash from orbs and shards and some blue items. So it owns to have a feral druid 70 to farm those orbs

I got one from a Strat scorlet 5 man run, i put it on AH for 30G Bid 70G buyout over 24 hours(Prices are low on Haumarush), Some guy whispered me asking if he cound buy it for 20G i said if it dont sell, and then he said it will never be sold for 30G well he was right i got 45G for it, thats a rise of 15G i think it can go for more maybe 60G even.

Generally, loot rules for orbs is everyone rolls need until you get one, after you do, you don't roll need until (if) everyone gets one. This has been the case on all of the server's I have played on.

Are these things still dropping? I did 2 full strath human side runs and not one dropped. Give the stats, 1 should be dropping every 30 mobs or so. We must have killed several hundred. :(

The only source of Righteous Orbs outside of Stratholme is the singular Crimson Courier that patrols from Stratholme to Tyr's Hand, with about a 1.5% drop chance. She is escorted by four Crimson Bodyguards who do not seem to have any loot. This makes Crusader extremely difficult to get in Season of Discovery Phase 3 at level 50.
