whenever i get frustrated with itemization in BC, i go back and look at some of this old world stuff and feel much better. 1.8 OH with armor and defense. gg blizz.

i may not be an expert, but don't rogues usually want a dagger in the mainhand to do certain moves like backstab and what not? this looks like a warrior set to me with the +defense, but still suitable for rogues.

as a hunter, i don't see anything great about these. ok +50 attack power and 1% crit. the +50 attack power given when u get both swords. how tough is that? i've been to ubrs like 20 times and haven't seen either one drop yet. i've been to ud strat on the other hand and go

and ok so we lose the +defense... when was the last time a hunter tanked? o.o

You joking me? unless you guys are forgetting about PVP warriors, youre all noobs. I agree that TANKING warriors should have offhand shield, but thats BS if you think that a warrior shouldnt roll on this. Best 1handed swords in the game, i would roll on this for my warrior and rogue. AND, the Mainhand dal rends is great for tanking warriors too. Noobs.

This is a very damn good set, however i must ask, WTF BLIZ why does it have +100 ap and +7 defense if its not at least 1H or MH, does a rogue really need defense? not really, imo theyre a squishy and shouldnt be getting hit that much, and if they do, use feint lazy asses. Hunters, sure they take agro sometimes but not enough for +def to do any good. Added to that is the fact that defense is only good stacked to around 350+, other than that its somewhat pointless, ESPECIALLY if ur not a tank. So why would it be put on an OH, much less in a set for a non tanking melee class such as rogue!
P.S. think straight, this is for rogues...hunters, dawns edge x 2 = better! barberous blade = MUCH better!

Ok, say this set drops (yes, both pieces at once) it doesn't really happen, but lets pretend it does.

Everyone passes on this, except for Sword Rogues, Fury Warriors and hunters:

Which Should have it?

1. The fury warriors would do some insane DPS with this set, which would eventually benefit the Hunter aswell as the rogue later on, to hold agro and block attacks decently so the hunter or rogue won't be killed in the flash of a light..

2. The Sword Rogues, being pretty high damage with the swords, can pack a really really good punch with this, would deffo have some serious use for this stuff.

3. The Hunters could have nice benefits from this aswell, as it would keep them alive for enough time to get some grub or take a bandage instead of having priests, pallies or druids res them.. But this is rarely of the essence, because someone usually tanks for them. Either the pet or another tank.

Rogues and Warriors = needroll
Hunters = greedroll
Rest... go pass..!

Offhand just dropped for me tonight, best part was: No rogues OR hunters in our entire group, (5 mages in a 15 man lol) IF there were any rogues i would have happily rolled with them. So glad i got in the group i did. The only competition rolled against me was a nub pally who rolled a 78, i rolled a 1 and it was defaulted to me:P

If Warriors need (Fury specced and dualwield) its obvious: they can need it.
If a rogue needs it (Slow main hand, fast other) its obvious: they can need it.
If a hunter needs it (setbonus +50 attack power (+110 attackpower with 2x 15 agillity) to their ranged and melee + 1,5 crit chance) its obvious: they can need it.

People that want to reserve some sets for their classes only, make this a very boring game.
The diversity so sought after by Blizzard, is negated by their boring and conservative view.

The reason Hunters would and should roll on these is simply this...

Many people will tell you these are not Hunter weapons, but in truth, they are great for Hunters. 1% crit and a set bonus of +50 AP on a dual-wield set, which enables you to use two +15 Agility enchants (Adding a total of 110 ranged attack power and 1.56% crit). The armor and defense skill are also useful now and then.

So ya if I ever see this I will roll on this because it benefits my RANGED attack.

I will tell you something I don't think I have ever seen a hunter on my entire server who had either one or both of these swords.
Hunter's should not get this weapon period. At base value this set relly does nothing for a hunter because 70% of the time they are using their bow and the other 30% of the time they r doing #$%^ty melee damage. Ooh man +1% crit HOLY !@#$! That really helps me out so much!
Rouges first, then fury wars, then hunters if there was neither a rogue or
warrior/ which would never happen.

Or atleast they were, there's several other options around now that we've got +25 agil for 2 handers. (Lefty's, Huntsman's Harpoon etc..)

The hunter math used to work out to something like this.
(agil adds armor too, but I never factored that in)

Our hunter melee weapon itemization's getting better and better, but you'll still see hunter's in partial Giantstalker using BSH's or Dal's. You rogues and fury warr's won't hold on to these long once you start raiding.

Well I've run UBRS about 40 times trying to get this sword to complete the set, and Ive only seen it drop once and I lost the roll by one! I guess I will still keep trying cuz the set bonus is great.

I'm a 60 hunter, and i run UBRS almost every night with my guild. I rarely ever go in a PUG group. I usually do rend runs because i want the swords. Before i roll, i ask all melee classes if they are going to roll on it so i know not to. (guildies dont need them though, they are all epiced out) . Yes, it is more a rogues or fury warriors weapon BUT, it is still good for hunters with the crit percent and 15 agili on both. HUNTERS just make sure the melee classes dont need the swords before u roll on it.

This is a pretty good set, though the Tribal Guardian is better in my eyes, as a sword Rogue. It makes an almost perfect off-hand weapon. It's damage isnt amazing, but an offhand weapon doesnt have to be. The 100 armor bonus is always welcome, as Rogues are restricted to wearing leather. On top of that, its a nice, fast weapon with a decen DPS on it, which is exactly what you would want in an offhand weapon.

After reading all the posts on this weapon and doing a little testing with my sword spec'ed Rogue I came up with the following conclusions:

This sword is ideally for Rogues who are sword/ combat spec'ed and is best used as set with the Saccred Charge, Not paired with another weapon in this regaurd.

Reasons:

Most good tanks usually have a sheild in their off-hand, not another weapon. It may be my own opinion, but shouldn't the DPS be ment for the Rogue to do? Why would a tank carry an off hand weapon if he should be absorbing the blows and holding the aggro?

Even though this sword is decently quick, it is not as fast as the Hanzo (and a few fast epics). As a sword Rogue some of my damage is done by proc'ing poisons and various chants. Not to mention my chance of Parry and Reposte proc more with the speed of the Hanzo. If you are playing against Bosses and End-game...speed is then not as important and you will get more dmg from the Gaurdian. Not to mention as a set the attack power is very useful against heavily armored bosses.

I had this sword before I got the set and didn't care to use it with other main hands as I did with the Hanzo as an offhand. Not untill I got my set did I really apprieciate the sword for its set bonus.I still used it for dpsing bosses in the meanwhile. This sword is one of the highest dps pre-raid offhands.

I am not discounting arguments about others using this weapon. If you like it, fine. Use it with your DPS Priests and Mele Hunters...whatever. I just have found this to be best used as a set with my Rogue. Any class can do whatever...but if you use your charactor for what they are designed for, you'll do so much better.

Just did an UBRS run tonight and both swords dropped. Myself, the tank (was fury spec I believe) and the hunter (he had the off-hand one already) all rolled on the Tribal Guardian and I won the roll. I then got the off hand b/c both of the other rollers already had it. Got Crusader/+15 Agi on them now.

This dropped last night and I finally got it! A hunter rolled on it and won but the raid decided to give it to me.

I now have both swords which is pretty nice. If you don't have the time for higher raid instances, these are the rogue swords to go for!

I have a 60 Rogue on Blackwing Lair and I just got Sacred Charge last night, and man do I really need to get this. On the topic, which always seems to be the topic, of Warrior/Rogue/Hunter weapon. The person who is going to get the most benefit from it, should get it. The bottom line here is, we all pay to play, and of course we think that we are all going to deserve something if we can use it (some more than others ie: being out needed by a 47 hunter on Phytoskin shoulders) The bottom line is, if a hunter already had the MH, and I didn't I wouldn't roll. If a hunter rolled on this, when I had MH and they didn't I'd be annoyed, but whatever it happens. I think we've all done it to someone at some point. Vice a Versa for warriors as well. If you hate the fact that you think hunters are going to out need you, there is an easy fix. START your own raid, and don't invite a hunter. I don't usually party with them myself, but thats my personal preference.

i am a fury warrior looking for a fast weapon to dual with this .... due to low speed on the guardian it is no use to me .... i am fulll fury spec and need help finding something to dual with this baby .... i use frostguard for tanking but this puppy is my primary spec weapon ? anyone can help me jst reply please

I'm a rogue, and pre-BC I used to spec combat with this set of swords. My Dps was immense for a casual player... even before the "Before the Storm" patch (i.e. no combat potency proc) the combination of these babies with adrenaline and blade flurry up put me #1 on most non raids. Fury warriors came close, and I would never have a problem with them rolling need vs a combat rogue, but hunters? Wake up and smell the bandwagon. Theres precious few swords and daggers listed on thottbot now that dont have a "hnuter weppn lolol!1!" or some such equivalent trash comment posted on them. Yes Hunters like attack power, yes agility is nice too, but if you really want to use your melee slots just for stats then dont do it at the cost of a class who is going to actually hit things with the weapon - get some +15 agility enchants on the ones you have instead.

1) all hunters are greedy bastards and should roll need on this set if their mouses can possibly hover over the little coin and click

2) everyone who plays world of warcraft thinks that their class is the best and that their class needs whatever their class needs.

personally, I don't agree with #1 because logically out of the six billion people in the world one should be able to play a hunter decently, and I don't agree with #2 because I'm a paladin and I'm pretty sure Druids are the best class in the game.

I've never played a druid.

Dropped on my Second UBRS Run, Won the roll with a 4 as I was the only Rogue in group & Warrior had better weapons, Can already tell the differance in my attacks as I had out-dated weapons for my level, Good sword IMO.

a sword rogue may like, as he's a lil wannabe offtank anyway, but the skulforge rever seems to be better because it HAS the crit bonus.

i'd still get it if i was able, because its raw dps is much better than my assassination balde.

Not saying it should be hunter prio only, but it should also be hunter prio.
Hunters (before BC release at least) gain 2 attack power from 1 point of agility. More attack power = more damage ranged, which is our main source of damage. To have the both swords would give us: 50 attack power, 1% crit (from a ranged point of view). Slap 2*+15 Agi enchants on the weapons and we get: 30 Agi (60 ap) 50 ap, 1% crit. Now compare that to 2*Bone Slicing Hatchets with 15 agility enchants on them, and put them up against eachother.

Bone Slicing Hatchet: 13+13+15+15 = 56 Agi (112 AP, and a little crit)
Dal'Rend Set: 30 Agi/60 AP, 50 AP (110 AP, with around 0.5% more crit)

So far Dal'Rends is winning by a small amount, but wait.
While not in instances most hunter spends quite alot of time in melee (unless you're a bot), and here weapon damage helps us quite alot. (wont do the offhand damage)

Bone Slicing Hatchet: 48-90 damage at 1.70 speed (40.6 dps)
Dal'rend Main hand: 81-151 damage at 2.80 speed (41.4 dps)

I prefer higher damage slow weapons on hunter, since i mainly engage melee to get a Raptor+Wing Clip in, and then move back to ranged. Since Raptor Strike is dependant on weapon speed, and we get this in first it will be at same speed no matter what weapon speed (seeing we press the button before we move in), and Wing Clip is instant so speed doesn't matter at all here. This means quite alot more damage the time we spend melee, so these weapons are (imo) quite alot better on a hunter than Bone Slicing Hatchet.

Ofcourse if a rogue/fury warrior has really crappy weapons a hunter should pass it too them, but calling it warrior/rogue priority is just plain wrong imo. You "steal" our ranged weapons only for stats, and pulling once and a while (warriors only). We at least engage melee with weapons and put them to use, rather than just have them sitting there for stats.

lv 500 is blizzs way of telling u he is a boss HEADS UP. if u cant see the mobs lv by 53, chances are it is a boss. lv 500 means special attacks and the like.

While a survival specced hunter could benefit from this set, a rogue or warrior is much better suited for them. There are better items for all three as a matter of fact, but for a hunter to roll need on these when a rogue or warrior needs them also is not wrong but in most cases will be considered a crime.

I know that almost every rogue wants this and I know they should have rights to it...but....because of the +100ac and +7def, I think I would equip it to use for tanking.

i was just wondering, i`m a combat rogue sword spec and isn`t it better to get Assasination Blade for offhand and dal'rend for MH?u get 2% crit with both swords and AB is also quite fast...i was just wondering, am i right or should i go farm the offhand Dal'rends sword?

this sword is nice... but there is better for ALL classes.. i'm fury and have it, the set is good for everyone and if u want this weap then u hav every right to roll on it like everyone else... especially if u hav been toughing out the grind for it... i've killed rend like 15 times and only seen this drop... i was the only fury wasrr/rogue so i got it... the hunter wass smart and was usin 2x bone slicing hatchets with big agi enchants. don't get me wrong if i lost this to a hunter i would be pissed because rogues and warr are actually supposed to hit ppl... but the bonuses for the huntersz are well worth there wait and effort dso they hav every right to roll.... ppl should stop complianing about class specific thing because its bull crap... if u see it and it benefits u then u should roll for it end of story :) hope u like that hunter it was REALLY hard to say.

10.9% + 3.48% = 14.38% chance to see at least one sword drop. (once every 7 runs)

100 - 14.38 = 85.62% chance to have neither sword drop. (6 out of 7 runs)

10.9% * 3.48% = ~0.38% of a chance to see both drop at once. (1 in 263 runs)

This wepon is most deffinantley a fury warriors or combat spec rogue. My rogue has both he does crazzy dps, awesome in pvp.

I'm a combat spec rogue I want the set but nonetheless I'ts a set for rogues, warriors and hunters, period it sucks have to roll with everyone but such is life thats like saying I have better attack power than some other rogue or warrior than I should get it first duh fuce it it's for them rogues warriors and hunter specially a survival hunter who is a very good melee fighter, I've seen a hunter win a melee fight with a warrior in BG, survival spec with both dal rend, not the best melee fighter but still very good, after all a combat spec rogue is much better melee fighter than a fury warrior ( barely but better ) and the warriors roll on it too

I hate those goddamn hunters that win the roll too but there's nothing we can do...

Both the 2 Dal Rend swords dropped in the same run for my group :)

As no one needed them I was allowed to take them both. Quite nice!

This set is great for fury Warriors and maybee Hunters could use it to due to the armor and defense bonus, ofc it works with Rouges but id prefer atleast one dagger.

Yea it's a fairly nice weapon to have if your a Fury Specd War, or a Sword specd rogue, but it is REALLY hard to obtain if your going on a Rend Run, because it fills with Wars and Rogues, close to instantly.

Bah... I've been on about 20 runs and it's dropped twice... The first time, some %^&*ty 58 rogue beat me and a warrior for it... the lamest thing about it is he was terrible... died at least 10 times, Leeroyed the eggs... pulled the Anvil boss... and was #6 on the damage meter... only beating our secondary tank ( who was a druid... ) Bah I'm over that...

And the second time, the leader of the run, a warrior who wasn't fury specd, turned on ML and ninjad IT, and EVERYTHING ELSE...

Believe we were all pissed...

So now, I'm using a Lifestealing Krol ( occasionally swapping out for the Lifestealing Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge ) and a friggin Firey Hanzo Sword ( ... I hate this friggin sword... )

I won it with a 100 roll but the leader declared "It's a rogue's weapon" and gave it to someone else.. I agree that it would be a nice sword for a rogue, but it would have also been a very nice upgrade for me, and I won the roll...

Not a bug. Deliberatly set so its a pernament skull to all. His effective lvl is 62, same as his mount.

THE BLIZZ GUYZ must of been drunk when they made this sword,+10 def. rating and 100 armor simply wasted on an off-hand sword,wtf does rogue need def.rating and 100 armor?NO,this is a tanking sword they could at least put it an one-hand slot =S:|

Im a hunter and i won the charge, and a whole bunch of rouges got pissed, they went and aggroed everthing and left the raid. I feel really bad now. srry

A lvl 60 pala seemed to think he could use it!
Luckily all who needed it only rolled below 26 and i rolled a 28. then this pala says he needs and rolls a 44 and we argued for about an hour until i was given it from the leader ^^. he then went in anger and aggroed everything and we wiped.

This sword set is for warriors and rogues. If I ever saw a hunter in my group roll a need on it I would kick him out of group because there is so much better weapons for them.

Got it on my first run to. As if you care. Had
t(h)rash blade before. So it was kinda of an upgrade. Got blademaster leggings and felhide cap the same day. Friday the 13th actually. -_- The other rollers got unlucky I guess
