I have this on my level 23 pally, got it for free and it had decent dps...I don't see the defense skill bonus added to my skill totals - should I be seeing it there? or is it added in and the display part is just bugged?

Stats or damage matters not to me here. This is, in short, the most beautiful two-handed sword in the game. It's not another of those "zomg me have teh final fantasy LXXVIII sword of titans kk" flashy weapons. It's just... beautiful.

All my chars that can use this have it. And I am proud to display it when I walk the streets of any city.

i tried selling this item for 3 weeks in AH and it never did sell i ened up putting it in my guild bank and no one has taken it out yet apparently it is useless mostly because of its level of a 21 maybe if it was 19 or 27-29 it would sell better for twinks

I brought it for about 10g for my Warrior friend. It looks pretty cool. Very big. It's as big as me (Dwarf) :D

First the bad news: For a two-handed sword, this has really weird stats. As a two-hander, it precludes use by a tank (you REALLY want a shield as a tank; the 40 armor and 13 defense rating this grants doesn't make up for the chance to block).

On the other hand, this makes it a fairly decent...dare I say it...Hunter weapon, at least for a hunter who pulls aggro often enough to melee fairly frequently; the Defense rating increases dodge (Mongoose Bite) and parry (Counterattack) chance, and 40 armor is a fair bit of damage mitigation for a leather wearer. It's also ok for dps warriors and paladins who want a cheap blue two-hander; it does decent damage, and since it's got such odd stats you can usually find it dirt cheap. Even though the stats won't help your damage any, you'll live a bit longer.

I had this sword on my warrior. I didn't tank with it, but it was great soloing.

If you're tanking, yes, you need the blocking. If you're soloing, you're generally dealing with non-elites and only one or two at a time. This gives you the surviveability of a shield with the damage of a twohander. I got a cheap +damage enchant, someone skilling up, kept it for the next several levels.

If you've already got a good two-hander, don't go out of your way for this one, but if it's available cheap, don't dismiss it out of hand.

i got it 3 days ago and used it last night over at the westfall dungeon completing the brotherhood quest. in a 21 pally and ripped baddies apart with it. definately great since it provides defense so i can hit with this hard hitter and not have to worry so much about my armor. i recommend it. oh, got it for 5 gold.

I got it from a drop in Redridge killing gnolls by the tower. This is the area where Lt. Fangore is. Didn't see it in the drop areas listed so I thought I'd mention it.

You should use the palli quest blades b/c they give stats that are valuable...the guardian blade doesnt last long.

I have a 23 hunter and was cruising the AH and saw someone put it up for 1 gold buy out. Jaw about dropped. It wasn't planned since it's not a fantastic hunter weapon and I was going for the Sin'dorei Warblade anyway since its about the most bad ass looking lowbie weapon in the game, but I went ahead and bought it non the less. Couldn't resist! I was gunna resell it except a friend was playing with my character checking stats and equipped it so now its soulbound. Oh well. Still an awesome blade. Haven't decided now if im going to go get the Sin'dorei Warblade.

Hello WTF Blizzard who tank with a two handed weapon? Ok the shields are not so good at this lv but what kind of stats for a two handed weapon is this? 40 armor and 13 def yeah ok who will this be good for Paladins or Warriors? no this is not good weapon. There is much better weapons for paladins and warriors out there.
Blizzard should make this to a main hand epic tank boe wep with this stats and change the name to.

what a waste. dont buy anything at lowbie lvls unless your a twink and this ISNT a twink item at all. If I find this i'll sell it to you guys for your hard earned gold but if I were you I wouldnt buy it. Use only quest gear and power level ftw. I just rolled a undead rogue on sen'jin earlier this week and im lvl 39 farming honor for gear and havent spent a penny on AH. Ofcourse i got 120g from my friend lvl 70 hunter on ally side but im spending 65g of that for my skeletal horse mount O_O

My gnome found it on a Worg in Duskwood! What is a dog doing carrying a sword? Tough decision between that and my trusty Onyx Claymore, as the dps is almost the same, but the stat boosts won. If it doesn't sell in the AH, I'll find an enchanter to DE it for me, I could use the mats.

It's funny to see all these comments from vanilla dismissing this sword. The +9 defense is a free 5 point talent in the prot tree and helps with evasion while dpsing/tanking. It's a super fun weapon!
