Will this item drop your aggro when used?
In other words, would a mob continue to whack at you when you take it, or will they shoot over to the #2 on the aggro list?
I'm trying to determine it's usefulness from a Tank's prospective.

It turns out one of these things can be used as an expensive way to avoid dying from falling damage. I flew up to the maximum height above the Terrace of Light and dismounted. I had no Parachute Cloak or anything like that, so I dropped like a stone. When I was at about the top of A'dal's head I drank a Flask of Petrification. It stopped me cold and held me in the air. When the minute expired, I dropped the rest of the way, and took only minimal damage.

Obviously, popping one of these just to avoid dying from a fall isn't exactly a sensible economic decision. I imagine it mostly would be showboaters in Shattrath who'd do this. For some, after all, a little attention is worth any amount of gold. When I tested this it was on the PTR* and, yeah, I did it where a lot of people would see me. I got a few tells, mostly from people who thought it was a bug.

*It still works on Live, though. I procced extras making one of these on my normal realm and used one to confirm my original test.

Update: As per 2.3, I think, the petrification effect does not prevent you from falling, but so long as it's still in effect when you land, you won't take any damage.

A good use may b to pop it if you get in a tight spot with gruul's shatter attack though it would b emergence use only since u would b stuck for 60 seconds but anything is better than dieing.

Can anyone confirm that it removes the bleed on Moroes? Guy in our raid swears back and blue the guy has a hardon for him, he's an ice mage, and we had 2 paladins a few weeks ago, he was cured and goroted 4 times! two ice blocks and two BoPs!

This flask removes all buffs / debuffs, and the flask effect itself is not removable, as it is a typeless debuff (red border). This means that if you pop this, you're frozen for the entire 60s duration.

Does it work for capping places in pvp, or preventing cap from enemies in world pvp/BGs?

Go the the area where you get the pvp slider bar, fight whatever you can, if you're about to die pop one and you'll be considered am unkillable live player in the zone for 1min, making the cap of the zone slow/impossible for enemies ?

imo the best use of this stuff is when you're raiding and you get some very nasty DoT debuff or an AOE thingy. Drink the stuff and it can prevent a wipe if you're a healer or something

Just obtained 6 of this and tested in WSG and on Son of Gruul in BE.

It clear all your buffs and debuffs (including food and flasks)
You gain debuff called Petrification
It lasts for 1 min and can't be removed or dispelled
It get you ouf of combat and drop all aggro
It can be drinked over and over, because it share cooldown with other flask, You only need to wait one minute to drink next

It's imo very usefull for fun, but not much in raid or PvP. Because it clear your buffs, and lasts for 1 min and cannot be removed or dispelled. In WSG, as it clear your bufs, you also drop the flag.
might be usefull in raid progression, when you have respawned trash behind, and dont want to clear it again. Just go where boss/trash cant be pulled, drink this, wait for others to wipe and evade trash/boss, ress others.
Or in PvP, it can be expensive vanish for non-rogues, Just drink this (you'll get ou of combat), wait one minute, drink Invisibility Potion.
So it's veru funny item, but realy expensive.

This is the objective of one of Dispatch Commander Metz's repeatable quests, and I find it preposterous that the AD would actually want one of these. Why even bother writing text for the quest . . . It may as well say "Throw this item out and get some other Insignia quest"

Why is using a potion in PvP being a cheater?
If you are a blacksmith and you make your self an arcanite champion is that cheating? no.

DI shakes agro. I don't think petrification does. Got huhu to 4% five times in a row last night but since our team has only been in BWL for 3 weeks (and faming nef for two) we a rather undergeared for the encounter despite having 250NR unbuffed on all mellee and 200NR unbuffd on all ranged. We tried a full NR approach, buffer gorup approach etc. All same result... 4-5%. Going to ez-mode huhu with pertrification for 2 weeks while we gear up to take on the encounter without. people who feel that this is cheap should also consider that we are taking all melle out of the dmg equation in that last phase. So yes... sponge group is intact but 1/2 ou dps is petrified.

Does anyone know if you maintain your mana regen while you are petrified? If so, this would be a great item to use if you are a healer with no mana left and are about to die. A minutes worth of uninterrupted mana regen is nice, even if your spirit isnt that great. With good spirit, this could be a lifesaver.

this Flask does not drop your Aggro. If someone of your party/raid members will deal the damage or heal (Damage/Healing Over Time also) - they will take the aggro.
So if there will not be any DoT's on mob and HoTs on party/raid members, then your party/raid will gain 1 minute to regen your mana and HP (bandages dont cause aggro it seems).

for Healers who OOM its not the best, try to use Dreamless Sleep Potons (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=37140). but its CD is sgared with mana/hp potions...

ManaRegen speed will not BoostUp when you affected with this potion.

Its like 100% shield from any damage, thats all

Not Worth the Mats

This would be really good, if it was some sort of retroactive potion (meaning it can be used more than once) for PvP. Otherwise, your either stupidly rich, or just stupid, to be using 30 Stonescale Oils AND a Black Lotus for ONE potion.

This, however, has many uses in PvE, but again, there so situational and rare, that it's probably not even worth keeping a few of these handy in your bag for that situation.

Let me just spell out the costs of this flask;

Black Lotus - 18-30G (Extremely Old servers will sell them much cheaper)

Stonescale Eels - 3-5G for a 5 stack.

Mountain SilverSage - 5-25G (Server prices really do play affect on this particular herb, I actually managed to sell a 60 stack for 50G on Ve.Co)

Now assuming that you pick up these mats for bare minimum price, your paying at least 29G per potion,and you have to run either BWL or Scholo just to brew it. Which can take up to half and hour for Scholo, and GOD knows how long for BWL.

To emphasise the point of how worthless this potion really is, this has dropped 3 times in our guild runs, NOT ONE Alchemist has taken it, and it was subsequently sold for 40G, 36G, and 42G on the AH.

Unlike other expensive consumables (e.g. Arcanite Bomb), this truly is a waste of time, effort and money.

At least you cant devestate people in PvP with the Arcanite Bomb (Provided you use it very well), this thing just gives you a non-class Ice Block.

this flask does have limited use. give this to your mt, if a fight is lasting to long and your healers and casters are out of mana, everybody stops fighting, the mt pops this and presto you now have one minute to gain some mana back, bandage or what ever else you want to do. if the person who popped this had aggro then they will keep aggro as long as nobody else pulls it.

From the next patch on, this flask will delete all your aggro on all mobs until the duration ends. This actually is not a buff but a nerf as mobs will no longer attack you (being immune to their attacks anyhow) but will instantly change their target.
Something else to consider is that from the next patch on, you won't be able to stop this "buff" before the minute is over. So use it wisely, 1 minute of lacking DPS or heal is nasty.

An alchemy Lab is located in Shattrath,Terokkar Forest, Outland. Go to lower city, to Skettis outcast. Go up the tree tower stairs, cross over to second tree. Then down one set of stairs. Circle around, you'll see a small round "Alchemy Lab" table.

Getting tired of people bashing this flask so much!

This is possibly one of THE most useful flasks your healer can have in a raid/instance setting.

The flask wipes aggro and prevents all damage to yourself in the meanwhile. This allows you to save your party from wiping, and potentially having to start a raid trek over from scratch. Considering the IMMENSE impact a SINGLE flask can have on a raid compared to what any other flask/potion/elixir does makes this (in my opinion) one of the most USEFUL flasks to have with you (and make one of your raid healers carry).

Has anyone tried this for tanking the red beam on Netherspite?

He should still attack the guy since he doesn't go by an aggro table, but does the Flask protect you from the beam-tick itself?

Also, when the portal phase is over, does he target you for his breath and waste it, protecting the rest of the raid?

I love potions, so when I saw that someone had completed the quest for this recipe and decided to sell it on AH instead of using it, I bought the recipe for my potion making friend.

It is an amazing potion that can pretty much stop death, but at a cost.

The good:

1.It literally turns you into a statue, which means that no one can attack you. It's like you don't exist. All enemies reset to default positions first, then will attack the next closest player. Very handy if you want to lead someone into a trap.

2.Enemy players stop attacking you. I was ambushed by 5 horde in Shadowmoon. Popped a potion, they stopped dead in their tracks because they couldn't target me, and all the dots went away.

3. Low cool down. The flask lasts a full 60 seconds, but the cool down is only 3 seconds. If you want to stay a statue for longer, just wait until the timer runs out, then hit another.

4. It removes you from combat. This is probably the best feature. Being out of combat means you can use anything once you unfreeze, like an invisibility potion. Great for vanishing out of a fight.

The bad:

1.You can't do ANYTHING while the flask is running. No spells, no eating, no moving. You are a rock.

2.You can not turn it off. You are a statue for at least 60 seconds. Good time to get a quick snack.

3.It removes almost all buffs. I'm a huge buff guy, and this potion wipes out all food, potions, self cast buffs, and scrolls. The only things it seems to retain is weapon and item buffs like frost or shadow oil, greater rune of shielding, and greater rune of warding. I'll do some more testing.

4.Expensive. 7 stonescale oil, 3 silversage, 1 black lotus.

All that being said, I think it's a great potion to use in an emergency. I never worry about getting hit by horde "family style".

This flask basically works like any other form of invulnerability:
It fully shields you. In other words, this is THE get-out-of-jail-free card, especially for healers.

Sadly, the costs match the power, but oh well...

I remember watchin a video of a paladin ressin in Org, standing in between the bank and AH and using one of these. He justs stands there petrified yelling "KILL ME" over and over lol. Shame I cant remember the vid .. all I know is that I got it from www.warcraftmovies.com

For all the jokes about this flask it does have one very good use. For whatever reason (too slow/lagged/stupid) people are unable to survive phase 2 of Heigan the Unclean. This flask lasts just long enough for them to remain alive up on the stage while Heigan is there dancing. For those of you who cannot dance... this is your only salvation.

Use this when you are turned into "The Living Bomb" by the baron. Useful for all those who can not ice block, or pally bubble. Best use for it I can think of. Still not worth the cost though.

This is not Divine Intervention in a bottle. This flask does everything listed in the description, but mobs will not ignore you. They will keep on attacking you, even though you are under the flask's effects and immune to the damage.

Does anyone know if grabbing the enemy flag in Warsong Gulch cancels the effect? Or if you can drink it while holding the flag and retain the flag?

If so, this is the "I-Win" item of WSG. A cheap way, yes, but effective.

I just used it in Blood Furnace run, was attacking then saw party falling one by one, last one standing and quickly used it, mobs completely left me alone, went back to posts, and one minutes later, came back and rezzed everyone.

SO. YES. IT IS POSSIBLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT POTIONS A PRIEST OR REZZER COULD HAVE FOR A RAID.

From what others have said, it does include fall damage, so it could be good for Archimonde. Perhaps you just don't want to risk the fall until you get better at timing your Tear before the ground or maybe you hit your tear too early.
If you messed up your tear and your choices are either either death by fall damage or this 60sec of statue, then using it and staying alive is always better even if this removes your food and other similar buffs in tbc phase 3.

Since no one has mentioned this in the comments, the reason this "useless" potion in 2006 is now invaluable on modern Hard Core servers is because you can basically bubble hearth if you use it correctly in a dungeon or raid. You have to leave group in the dungeon (which starts a timer that will hearth you from the instance), then use petri (which will make you invulnerable until the hearth happens). If you use petri before you leave group or without waiting long enough after leaving, it is possible to need to use another petri, or health pot and run at the end or use abilities that may have come off cooldown, etc. before the hearth timer finishes. This is known as "roaching out" and should only be used as a last resort. You might get some angry whispers if you use it and someone that stuck around dies. Most of the time it is easy to tell when a pull has gone wrong and you will die if you do not petri though. You will probably still get angry whispers in this situation but you will be alive and well while they are killing boars again in Durotar or Elwynn Forest. Good Luck.

Haven't been able to find info on this so I'll ask here. I left party and didn't get the timer CD for leaving the instance. I waited and waited but ended up having to petri twice. Still no timer CD to port out. During this time my hunter pet took aggro and was killed - if my pet takes aggro after I leave the party, will I not be able to leave the instance?
