You have to pay a nice amount of money to get this key (15, 20G?). However, if you're level 60 you'll get money instead of experience for each part of this quest line, so the actual price for this key is below 5G.

As long as someone at the entrance has the key to let you in, you can skip the quest, but if you're levelling, I'd recommend doing the quest for some mad XP.

Three ways to get into scholo without key:

1) Rogue that can pick.
2) Warlock can get naked, hellfire himself to death right next to door, run as ghost thru door and res
3) My most favorite method with a duel. Get naked, duel a party member outside scholo door. Initiate duel, both of you run in scholo take the right go up the stairs and up more stairs eventually you will get to a dead end where you can go left and onto the roof right above the door to scholo. Have the other person defeat u in the duel, then jump off the roof and kill yourself right in front of scholo door. Run back as ghost, run thru door, res, bada bing bada boom you are now inside.

*Easily* soloed at 70. Araj the Summoner is real easy, just clear the mobs around him first, and it's cake. I did it because I was bored..

please, I accidentally destroyed that key, a GM told me that I can recover it from the last guy who craft that item, do you remember who is? and where I can find him?

To make the "unfinished key" you need the 15 skeleton fragments (drop off of the skeletons in Andorhol), 2 Thorium bars (get them from the auction house) and the mold (15g from a goblin in gadgetzan.)

You take these to the lake at the top of the volcano in fire plume ridge, jump in the lava, and use the mold.

Before the key is usable, you need to finish some quests in Chillwind Point in the western plague lands. The commander-person-thingie there will give the quest to place beacons at the four watchtowers in Andorhol. You have to do this before you can get the *next* quest to kill Araj the Summoner (level 61 elite with some nasty mobs in Andorhol.)

After you complete the quest for killing Araj, your key is usable.

whenever I need in I just stand by the door, get naked, and wait for horde. Then rez inside door and walk into instance. Works like a charm EVERY time.

...or someone is there then can open because they have a key or they're already inside waiting.

With the recent change it's not that bad profit wise to make the key, you get a lot of the gold back ;)

In order to get the quest for the skeleton key.. do you need to complete other quests in the bulwark? ..or do you need to be friendly or lvl 60 or anything..
because the guy doesn't show me any quest at all! :S

Speak to Alchemist Arbington -> Chillwind Camp, Western Plegaulands. Note: Chain quests. At one point you'll have to go to Tanaris to forge part of the key.

Horde Version

There is a guy in the Bulwark named High Executor Derrington, i didnt have to do any pre-quests to start the quest chain for the key. i just talked to him (when he didnt have a yellow exclamation point above his head) and he still gave me the quest Scarlet Diversion. For Scarlet Diversion you have to pick up some nearby "Flame in a bottle" and burn some tent and place a flag.

After Scarlet Diversion you get All Along the Watchtowers from him and can complete it by running east from Bulwark a bit then turning south east and entering the Ruins of Arindol and then placing the 4 beacons in each tower. High Executor Derrington then sends you to the apothecary which is like 10 feet away and its pretty obvious how to get the key from there, including getting 15 skeletal fragments, paying 15G, and getting 2 thorium bars and going to Un'Goro Crater (all of these are separate quests, so its a pretty long chain). After making the Unfinished key you have to bak to Arindol and kill Araj, its best if u bring a high lvl friend with you.

If u think u can solo Araj, well he has 3 guys around him that drain mana (pretty much all of your mana after about 10 secs into the fight) and 2 elites that crit a lot, thats if u dont run into the extra groups of mobs around him while being blasted by frost spells. GL

Hi, I accidently deleted the key forgot what is was used for. I talked to the GM and said I had to go back to the quest giver to get a new key. I have done that and still cant get a key. Anyone know how i can get the key

Any class can get in to Scholo without a key by jumping from the top of the building repeatedly until you die, then ressing on the inside of the door. If you're in a group have a duel first to get your health near zero so you only have to jump once. Loser has to run & jump to his death. :D

Judging from comments from 2005 Alchemist Arbington should provide a new key if you lost it, but he doesn't for me in classic wow.
