This pattern only drops off the Firebrand Pyromancers in Lower Blackrock Spire.

They are located in a nook at the base of the hill leading to the spiders, where the fire orcs meet the spider eggs.

This robe is very good for mages heading into MC, etc, but the robe is only wearable by the tailor that crafts it (bop on craft).

I remember about a year ago, we had one of these drop every run in 6 runs, we all rolled for the pattern and the winner sold it for about 300g everytime.

This was a great robe for pre Molten core mages, however soon becomes replaced.

As mentioned before, this pattern drops in LBRS. It can be solo farmed by lvl60 rogue in mid-epic gear.

Im not sure its actually worth to farm for this robe after BC is out. Honestly, 10 essences of each type are pain to farm and indeed takes some time that you can spent for levelling.

Which means you cannot trade the robe...the only way to have it is to be a tailor

The're just below the spider section in LBRS.

The drop rates listed seem a bit optimistic. I've been through there many times but have only seen it drop once. OTOH, getting the drop isn't the hard part. Getting the 10 essences of air, water, fire, and earth is; particularly the air.

Our five man group had this pattern drop last night. The group was:
Hunter (60), Hunter (60), Warlock (60), Priest (57), and Warrior (60). I (the priest) was the only tailor there, and I'm not at 300 tailoring yet. We all rolled, and the guy that won it looted it just fine. (He sold it to a guild mage later that night.)

Also, you can get all the essences in about 3-4 days of farming. I had 10-25 of each essence sitting in my bank before my mage got this pattern.

Two days ago I posted the previous comment, and I started to run LBRS yesterday and today. Since I know where the pattern will drop, I made sure that I kill all those pyro before the spiders' room. Just as my raid group passed on those pyro and started to pull the spiders, I pull and killed the pyromancers myself. Guess what? On the second pyro...the pattern drop... I won the roll, but people started to say I ninja'ed it. Its so obvious that Im the only mage and also a tailor too, that pattern should come to me. Oh well, whatever.
I will post the pic whenever I can make the robes, since I just spent so much money on the mats for belt of archmage and the +30 spell damage enchant.
PS. dont try to go to LBRS just for this pattern with a pick-up group...its bad, there will try to outroll you cause the pattern is boe. My suggestion is to go as a guild run. Good Luck to all the mages who run LBRS countless hours for this.

Anyone can loot the pattern.

But anyone who gets the pattern and is not a Mage should auction it. The item it creates binds on pickup, and can only be equipped by a Mage.

So if you're a 300 Tailor Warlock, you can learn the pattern and make the Robe, but you'll just be stuck with a soulbound Robe that you can't equip since you're not a Mage.

+dmg is nice when you have the time to sit back and lob 1100 non crit fireballs at an NPC. However, in PvP, esp. Battlegrounds, you're not going to have enough time (usually only the first shot while sheeped) to launch a 3sec fireball. Therefor, the +crit on your scorches, Fireblasts, CoC, IAE etc really becomes a factor. Plus, your instant cast spells only benefit minimally from the +dmg. (1.5sec = 40% of total +dmg gear i think) Keep a +dmg/int suit for PvE, for PvP use +stam/+crit. That simple.

This dropped in group and we all rolled because PATTERN IS BOE BUT ONCE IT'S LEARNED THE ROB IS BOA. That means that once a mage buys the pattern from me, he can only create robes for himself.

Killed the dude 3 times and the robe drops all 3 times. Anybody can pick it up. Pattern is BoE. This is not hard to get. What's hard to get are the materials to make the item.

Only let mages who are tailors roll need on this item.

well... last 2 raids in lbrs,2 drops, i got 1 ( only :((( ) anyway,half of mine raid passed it because they thought it was BoP item, pattern is BoE,the robe itself is BoP, so went to AH and sold it for 4 7 5 gold peaces on my server,dunno the price on others but im very pleased with the price i got for it :)))))))

I believe at one point the pattern itself as well as the robe were both BoP. However that was changed with one of the patches so that the patterns can be traded/sold but the robe once made is soulbound. That might part of the reason for the confusion on if the item is BoP or not

It is possible !
Juste go with a pack of Invibility potions (10 to be sure).
Kill the two first mobs of the instance by sheeping one, then regen and take him down.
Wait for the thrid guard to come and do the same.
Then go to the right, jump, regen and run :)
Aggro everything you want and go ahead, then jump from the clif to the right.
Wait ON THE LITTLE STEP befor the ground for them to loose aggro.
Then jump down and take down de Firebrand grunt who is patroling in the area, then use a potion and run as fast as you can (don't use transfert while stealth) and when the stealth effect is going to leave, use your transfert to get in a safe zone and wait for 10 minutes for the cooldown to be up ^^ Then use it again to pass over the last mob pack and you'll be right next the pyromancers !
Then, sheep the demonist if possible or pull them away (by pulling the one who is at the right) and sheep, then nova and focus the pyromancer.
If you've chosen the good specialisation, you'll be able to get rid of the three :)

I was saving my money to buy the essences when I finally saw the pattern (On my main, level 60/300 tailor Undead Mage) at the AH. I bought it with the money I had saved up and farmed the essences and now I have it! It's great, and I love the colors. So much better than the Robe of Winter Night. I had never seen the pattern in the AH, was it just recently changed to bind when you learn the pattern maybe? Bought it for 420g well worth it IMO. I wouldn't trade it for anything other than 8/8 Netherwind.

I've run LBRS 13 times now (8 as a 300tailor 60 mage) and it hasn't dropped. Getting frustrated. I hear so many people saying its dropped every run they've been on. Whats the deal here? There are about 4 pyromancers in there, is it 10% per pyromancer? I thought it was supposed to be almost a garuntee with a 60mage 300tailor in the group.
And does making it a raid effect the drop rate?

the pattern i bought after farming ess. of fire here and there and saving them for selling one day. the pattern dropped to 110g so i bought it. spent four days farming didnt really sleep. water is easily farmed in fellwood off water elementals I had three other people farming them and I mananged to get 11 within four hours and 15 min(stole aggro from another horde while she was getting ganked) then went ungoro crater constantly killed the fire elementals that had mana that took me about 15 hours. then went to sithilus over in northwest corner. took me about two days no sleep just avoid gettign ganked by rouges but air will drop and so will elemental fire water air earth they sell good to help get essencese you cant keep the will to grind anymore . plus you get rep with hydroxy waterlords. dont really know what you get from that rep. but yes its worth it and can be done just grab a snickers and and dont leave if you get ganked keep coming back they will get the point that your not leaving 60 undead mage Name-Lothorian on ursin server pst also 60 tailor will make what I can for free if you have mats Magey love

400 g drop no way! this recipe at my server costs 25-35 g (EUR) Ligthnings Blade
with 400 g you can get a tier1 belt for example!

This pattern is solo farmable by a rogue or a druid-rogue more cause we can vanish but defiantely a druid cause they can heal. If you dont beleive me go watch the movies made.

ive seen 3 drops in 2 ten man runs with my guild (were practising for UBRS)

just stick in there and this will eventually drop for you (or talk to someone from perpetual affity >alliance faction on vek'nilash.... we seem to be lucky with this drop)

I've run quite a few lbrs run in my time and i can say that the drop rate for this is probably correct. I'm not 100% about u having have some1 with 300 tailoring for this to drop and i've seen to drop a fair amount and I have alchemy and herbalism. None the less i drop herbalism to make the robe and didnt regard how expesive it would be to lvl up tailoring.

Anyway Took a few days but I have it, the essences are to have to get when u can transmute them, if u ask/pay an alchemist they can transmute water to air (probably the easiest to the hard essences to get)

Anyway good luck getting it if ur a mage its well worth the effort :)

I should have checked the ah befor buying this for 80g. ech essence costs about 10g .. *40 this is equal 400g .. so i have to pay 480g for this robe. I'll try to bid 5 per essence for a week and buyout the rest.

damn im lucky....i ran lbrs when it droped them we rolled but i didnt win!but what happened.....the guy who won the pattern was 66 druid so i asked if he can give me the pattern because i am taillor and he gave it to me 4 free :) :)

i wonder if they've nerfed the drop chance of this. used to get approx 1/10 runs, but now i've done over 40 pyromancer kills now without it dropping. sure it's possible that i'm just being really unlucky, but it's like 3.5% chance for this so it's stretching odds abit.

anyone else having problems finding the pattern as of latest patch?

Doh! This dropped tonight and instead of just keeping it in my bag and AHing it, I learned it. Not going to do me much good now that I have my spellfire robe. I don't even want to know what the pattern goes for on my server, but I sincerely hope its less than 100g.

I've farmed a few of these with a few friends before now and decided to see if i could kill 1 solo and mission success!

lvl 60 rogue (of course)

oh and re the comment below, solo means all by yourself, not 2 man ;)

u can farm them as combat rogue.

there are 3 groups

1. Pyromancer Dreadweaver in the back corner, sap kill the other, then kill the sapped.

2. Go into that corner there they was, and pull the left group, pop everything, Eva+AR+BF, aoe grind them, if u are lucky BF hitting the Dreadweaver, so u can kill him too. Sometimes i can kill all the groups, but usually iam not risking anything, killing the Pyromancer, and vanish, w8 for CD-s.

3. kill the right group, go up to the hill, ranged pull, pop everything, aoe grind, loot, vanish, reset.

This robe costs about 400g to produce - and that's not counting the pattern. Unless u grind the mats yourselves

For laughs I was running through LBRS, was thinking about making a key or something when I come across the pyromancers. My pet wasn't even out, but all you have to do as a marksman hunter is just aimed shot one and blast it down on the way to you. by the time the mobs reach you it'll be dead and you can feign and loot.

I have been to LBRS at least 15 times. I have yet to see this pattern drop. I gave up my engineering of 253 to take up tailoring just for this pattern. That was about 3+ months ago. Looking at the postings here, it looks like it's time for some serious farming with a group of close friends. Wish me luck.

Does 30 gold and 20 gold sound cheap for this pattern?

Well I was auction surfing and picked up one.. and could have picked up two, but thought something wa sup.. Well, in one week the price went from 150-200 gold to about 80-100 gold.. gonna wait a couple of weeks for the price to go back up before auctioning that.. Prices are really defunct on Alexstraxa server.. Mostly just going through growing pains.. It is only a 6 month old server and all. Dunno.. lol, a lot of farmers and pure solo grinders on the server. Wish it was PvP so I could kill all of them.

Funnily enough I have to farm that boss for my Recipe: Greater Fire Protection Potion.. lol, I am a leatherwearing NE Rogue - Level 60 :D

Went down to farm this for a guildmate, we got it on the first pyro. When we later on came back from wyrm, and they had repopped. We killed em again and got a new pattern from the same mob as before.

I cant believe that this item was sold for so little. I know that it has dropped dramatically in price recently but it will go back up to over 100g. I bought 4 of them at 17g each on AH from a buyout. I hope they read this so they can see that they threw away a decent amount of money! Thank you guys i appreciate you helping me almost securing my epic mount.

we are farming this 2 mages alone (fire and frost)
5 runs / 0 wipes / 0 patterns dropped (time spent <+/-> 25 m.)

<> Group with wolves:
- sheep raider and sheep 1 mele
- silence 2 casters and nova casters + wolves (aoe them)
- resheep
- bandage
- resheep 1 mele and attack the other
- evocation if is necessary
- kill the last one

<> Groups of 3 - 4 ppl
- counterspell pull in casters
- sheep invoker and grunt
- kill first dark... (focus) then mele
- resheep mele and focus invoker
- kill last one (grunt)

<> Groups of Pyromancers
- wand pull and run back (then will come 1 group of 3)
- sheep pyro and mele
- focus caster
- resheep mele
- focus pyro
- kille last one (mele)

easy 2 mages =) (i can make a video if u want)

I'm a 31 arcane/20 fire mage and have duoed to the pyromancers a couple of times with a similarly specced mage. Great fun, but no pattern. Finally got the pattern in a PuG 10-man, and I was the only mage :) There does NOT need to be a tailor in the group. I was herbalism/alchemy when I got the pattern, then dropped herbalism and ended up spending about 450g powerlevelling tailoring and compiling all the materials for the robe. I still dislike the complete lack of stamina on the robe (I put +100 health on it), but the +40 damage can't be beat. I ended up passing on Robes of Volatile Power when they dropped the day after I made this. >.>

I bought this pattern. I am a level 300 tailor Warlock but the pattern won't let me learn it. It keeps saying "cannot use that item" when I click on it. Does anyone know if only Mage tailors can use this pattern? Please help!

Some guildies were doing warlord's command (5man LBRS) and this dropped. None in the group were tailor, but somehow they all saw the sparklies, and got to roll on it (with the game widget, not /random 1 100). The person that won the roll did not get the pattern, someone else did.

But then they gave it to me :) Yay!

PS- I think there's some weirdness wit how the "tailor only" drops go, who they go to, bugs in how it works.

We farmed this with three people: Priest, mage and rogue (all 60).

We needed some experience to finally find where to jump off best. Keep right until you need to jump off the upper room to lbrs. Stop in front of the mobs with the wolves. Then just run and keep right... Jump down three times and you will land safely.

If you bombed everything away, undress and take a bath in the lava. Reset -> redo.

Took us 3 runs to find the pattern with lots of belts and bracers dropping. We found a "Recipe: Greater Fire Protection Potion" too.

This used to be 12-13% drop rate, I farmed it a couple months ago and would get one every 6-7 kills roughly. Now I've gone 20 without seeing it so far, trying to get this for a guildie. Haven't even seen the recipe for Greater Fire Protection Potion. Only thing I've seen worth anything is Magister's Bindings (a good 90g, but nonetheless...) .

I was trying to farm with my friend Rubix but i ended up getting Magisters Bindings, Cord of Elements and Dwarven Hand Cannon...and i didnt get the archmage robe pattern...

Sucks this drop'd and a warlock on in my guild won the lot.. I know it's BOE but what's worse it disappeared off the corpse into limbo land. At the end of lotting it never said they "So-and-so recieves loot: Pattern: Robe of the Archmage"

I farmed it alot, roughly 3-4 days ago it just stopped dropping. used to get one every few runs, now none in 50+ kills.

My guess is its tailor-only again, since ive seen mages sell it.

Made a video demonstrating how to solo farm this pattern in Classic as a 60 mage. It's based on KalithDemoren's strategy, though I changed the parts that weren't working for me. I only use one invisibility potion instead of two, poly the legionnaire instead of the dreadweaver, and don't kill any of the trash at the entrance.
