Still have that combo (shard and reju gem) at level 70.
Many of the trinkets i have seen yet a worse or just sidegrades.
Especially the epic trinkets from Karazhan or Gruul just suck.
4hm trinket beats that one ofc.

This trinket is equivalent to, manawise, (16*(60/5)*5)/15 = 64 int in a 5-minute fight. Nerf.

For shamans, the best healing items are mana-regen items. My current raid healer set has 100+ mana regen and this trinket may be good for me if it does not cost DKP.

When I am in BWL, one of my trinket slot is Mindtap --- 11 mana/5 sec, and it is good enough. Another is the trinket from shaman's lvl 50 quest. I think the trinket from the lvl 50 quest is amazingly good. My current talent tree is 5-31-15, but with the quest trinket I am as good as those 0-5-46 shamans who do not have it.

if it aint unique, i would dump all my dkp to get 2 of this, 32mana/5sec = pawnage for healing in raids. wow or i ll get this and the other trinket from DM

I'm a 60 Warlock in an Ony/Rag downing guild. I would pass on this for a healer. Lifetap + Bandage, and you're good to go, but Druids, Shammies and Priests have issues with this type of thing. Honestly, the mana/health/5s is amazing, but I'd immediately pass the Scale to a healer or the Shard to a melee. The set bonus, while cool, is not worth it, you can get individual trinkets *cough*Seal of Quel'Thelas*cough* that give as much or more resistance in single areas but that actually do something astoundingly useful, like, + spelldamage *cough*Seal of Quel'Thelas*cough*. If you're a 60 Lock and you think this set should go to us first, reroll Pally so I never have to talk to you again. Kthx.

It's good for any class that has mana and health. That's it. Nothing more is needed. The rest of the stuff on this page is only OPINION.

60 pally with 2 of these suckers.
YES i said 2. it went unique in patch 1.8 so if you dont have 2, you cant get 2.
also you do get the +10 bonus by wearing both.
i can equip other trinkets (say ADC/barovs peasent caller) and then re-equip these.
im gonna say this should go to any class that uses mana (sadly even hunters should have their shot). as a paladin i have over 180 mana/5 sec regen now. and that is with nothing from BWL or beyond (i don't limit myself to plate when im main healer). i can if given the job of healing, not lose my tank (to include the MT) v anyboss in the instance by myself.

Only the 2nd time our guild has seen it drop and we've had Onyxia on farm since November last year. Luckily for me our priest rep (who has higher dkp) was seeing 'Snakes on a Plane' and missed it.

Now I just need the damn shard of the flame.

but if a class was to get priority over this it would be a mage,warlock and preist b/c they depend on it and i wouldn't mind giving it to a preist if our guild is short on healers b/c they keep me alive so if you dont end up w/ this just do the instance again later. >_<

this trinket is ok for priests/druids... a bit of an upgrade from mindtap talisman, which is 11 mp/5

the set as a whole, though, screams warlock, since they're constantly using both health and mana simultaneously... and locks are the only class who really see a noticable benefit from hp/5 since they've already got a bunch from their tier 2 set and demon armor.

Our guild have killed onyxia every reset for almost 9 months and not a single Shard of the Scale dropped yet... -_-

I have the set, and I still use this one for fights when I need a lot of mp5.

16mp5 is pretty good, especially when it works with no action on your part other than equipping it. I have mentioned it a few times on the Priest forum, and so far I have not seen many better suggestions for a Holy Priest.

mp5 is a very important stat.

It was the first time my guild downed Ony and I won the roll.

I like to keep my +healing and +mana regen as high as posable.

The day this post was made my +healing was at 344 and mana regen 24. With 2 epics one green the the rest blue gear.(The green cape I plan to replace with hide of the wild if I can ever get the mats for the thing)

Got this on my druid when it finally dropped. Had to bid a @#$%load of dkp to get it... Totally worth it. It's godly for long fights, Nef for example.

SUCKS hard. Lvl 46 Basilick bone with Elemental Rainment grant more resistance than that crap, and Felguard with Master Demonologist even more. But having extra health abd mana is not bad at all.

I have 2 of these and today i read patch notes 1.8 and it said that this trinket will be nerfed to "unique item".

So will there be only one remaining on my char and my 2nd trinket will be gone, when i will login after patch 1.8 ?

I spent so many dkp, worked so hard and waited so long to get two of these.

Getting scared a bit....

this dropped for our guild tonight

and a damn shaman won the roll with a 100, i almost slit my wrist right there with me being a druid, loseing something like that to a shaman

this should have druid priest priority first, not a damn shaman

i havent wanted anything out of Ony for awhile, i already got my head piece, 18 slot bag,and even the ring of the archmagus, and i dont really care about the head of ony, im just waiting to get a good roll on that one day, in no hurrey

but i never knew something like this dropped off of the girl. i have been using my dm trinket and the crappy rank 6 frostwolf insignia for awhile. dm trinket is good. but i wanted something to replace the wrostwolf insignia for awhile, its a warrior trinket anyway, maybe even a warlock one with the health regen

GOD I WANTED THIS THING SO BAD, up until tonight, i have never been actually pissed for loseing a item on a roll.....

Its a shame its a 1/20 drop and basically any class with a mana pool (maybe besides hunters) would probably roll/bid so its pretty tough to get

I have to ask the question, why is Wowhead allowing totally unreliable information like:
"Shard of the Scale is considered a best-in-slot PvP trinket for Restoration Druids, Elemental Shamans, Enhancement Shamans, Restoration Shamans, Holy Paladins, Holy Priests, Shadow Priests and Protection Paladins. While equipped, this trinket restores 16 mana per 5 seconds. This item is obtainable by defeating Onyxia within Onyxia's Lair." ?

Newer players in the game are relying on Wowhead BiS lists and other information like above to understand how to distribute loot effectively and... clearly, in at least one case, Wowhead contributors are leading new players down a path of misinformation. I just lost this trinket on my resto shaman to a shadowpriest which will get literally zero value out of the trinket, IF he ever even equips it.

Why? Because the master looter in my Ony run doesn't understand item stat priorities and instead relied entirely on the text above to decide who should be allowed to roll on this BiS *HEALER* item.

Not only is this not a good trinket for Enhancement shamans, Shadow priests, or Prot paladins, but it also is listed as BiS *PvP* -- this should literally **NEVER** be used in PvP and really drives home how totally ludicrous and inaccurate this text is.

Who wrote this? Why is this here? This wasn't even believable in 2005.
