Such a worthless item. The only class that could feasibly make a go at this item is a warlock, and they should be focused on damage items.

Please don't tank with this item, HP/5 never outweighs dodge, parry, block, or the powerful Lifegiving gem.

I don't agree, on some fights like Loatheb, or Patchwerk in Naxx raid instances it is usefull

Loatheb: Healers can only heal every 60 seconds and all of them are needed for the tank, so this can come in handy stacked with Troll Blood potions to help keep you up

Patchwerk: This fight there is 4 tanks who are constantly being hit for extremely high damage, so all heals must be focused on the main tank and the 3 off tanks, for locks this is potentially usefull to help keep up a steady stream of lifetapping for mana.

Interesting, a 2 trinket set, you would think that the trinkets would give a better set bonus though

If the other half is called "Shard of the Scale" from a scaley dragon IE Onyxia. Then I'm guessing "Shard of the Flame" is from our big fiery friend rag.

I thought that the whole point of these trinkets were because they worked in combat. Otherwise they would just be +50 spirit or whatever number.

Are you on crack? Of course it continues regening during combat, that's the whole point. I have a lot of +Mana/5sec reg Items and they work the same way.

I'm a Warlock, just got this piece yesterday. With my Felheart/Nemesis gear, +Demon Armor, +Shard of the Flame, I'm regenerating about 50 health every 5 seconds in combat. Since Shard of the Flame isn't unique yet, I'm hoping to squeeze in one more. The set is bugged and you still get the +10 to all resists if you have 2 of the same shards, so it's definitely worth it.

Surprisingly, melee don't seem very adamant to have this trinket. Then again, with all the +crit, +dodge or other trinkets that could benefit them, I don't blame them.

I think these are cool, but to the hunter who wants the flame, what are you taking out to put this in, 2% crit or 41 ranged attack. As for me i would pass as not to use raid credits on these. I would agree that warlocks could put them to good use since they can life to mana and get more out of it and still get set bonus, other casters will farm mindtaps and would prob not want to use raid credit on a 3 mana per 5 sec upgrade.

We just downed Ragnaros with 32 people tonight, and nobody was willing to spend the dkp to get this piece. It's so sad, because it's really nice. I would get it if I had a guarantee of getting to BWL any time soon, but I know that I would only get it for the set and I'm new in the guild and want to build up some dkp. But... yeah, just thought it was kindof depressing. Oh well.

that is actually a good set bonus of only 2 pieces.
what did you expect? I say warlocks gets most from these trinkets but other mana classes can also use them.

According to the 1.10 patch notes, this item got buffed. Prior to 1.10, it was 14 health/5 seconds. Now it's 16 health/5 seconds. Pretty lame 'upgrade'.

I wouldn't complain too much about 2 health per 5 secs. During a 15 minute Onyxia fight that's 360 extra health. To some, especially casters, that makes the difference between life and death. Maybe not the most amazing upgrade ever, but I'm not going to complain that they only upgraded it a tiny bit.

I did extensive testing and this item does not Restore health in combat anymore, it does add to the normal health regeneration done by spirit out of combat.

i.e. making it useless or just an absurd upgrade for Ward of Elements. GM couldn't confirm the issue and due to the rarity on many realms (not really a great trinket and not high drop rate) it probably won't be fixed soon.

i got the shard off ony tonight, then went 2 MC. this really helps for spots where u need mana fast...i love it, we tried to down rag but couldnt come close
enough, so i didnt have a chance 2 bid on 2nd piece

warlock item. +%dodge is worth way more to warriors, who might be interested in this. Avoiding dmg is way more valuable to them. If you're fighting low lvl mobs for farming purposes, I suppose any class could use this, though. Too bad it's bugged and doesn't work in combat atm. lame.

As a protection spec warrior, I can safely say this a lock item. True, if it was regen-ing 16hp5 in combat, that would be nice, but given the fact that I'd have to be removing my Zandalarian Hero Badge or DM trinket to make room for this, I'm not concerned about increased health regen. Styleen's Impeding Scarab and the Onyxia Blood Talisman are way better choices for a protection warrior anyways. As for melee dps, you can't go wrong with Hand of Justice and a Hyper-Radiant Flame Deflector or something (Rune of the Guard Captain is a trinket most melee dps can benefit from for a long, long time). I guess it could work healing classes, but I'd rather they have +healing gear on if they're healing me. Mages wouldn't really need the hp5, since they're pretty much dead if a warrior loses aggro for more than about 2 seconds. :)

As a warlock, I MIGHT go for this, if it was cheap, but I like my ToEP and ToA a lot, as well. I wouldn't go for the full set, either, since I know Shamans in particular could REALLY use that mana regen...but +10 resistance isn't TOO shabby, but to give up my damage trinkets would be tough ;_;

I spent an hour the other day researching health regen gear on thottbot - you know what - there isn't much! And this is the best of the bunch. Lo and behold it drops off Rag the same night and I got it. It definitely works in combat. This, Sash of Whispered Secrets, Nemesis Skullcap and Demon Armor spell give me 41 hp/5 seconds which is a definite plus for a lock. I don't think its 'better' than some other trinkets out there, I think its very good for what it does. Most gear is situational and I'm happy to have this in the bag for long fights or chain pulling.

Someone mentioned why not just sack a voidwalker instead of use this trinket? Its not an either/or proposition. As I mentioned already this and other items/spells give 41 hp/5 sec. When buffed with a sac'd void I'm pulling over 200 hp/5 seconds. Of course you can burn mana faster than that casting - so this just makes sacking a void that much sweeter.

Think about this logically though... The required level here is 57, the one on Onyxia is 60. Why would Ragnaros, the final boss of WoW right now drop something lower level than a boss that comes substantially earlier in the game?

Something doesn't quite add up.

Ragnaros doesent drop the other peice couse hes only been killed once and he dident drop it then. and no body knowes what he really can drop :)

Theoretically this must have dropped off of something, otherwise it wouldn't be here. I believe when it is like this it is because player didnt update their wowreader when they first got it, but did some time later with it equipped.

Unknown where it actually drops, but since Onyxia drops the other half of this set and the name of the item has to do w/ flames, a safe bet would be Ragnaros drops this.

I just got Shard of the Scale from Onyxia, now I want to destroy Raggy a few times, hehe.

Edit: And Of course I was lucky, the first raggy attempt after the shard of the scale dropped this little thingy ^^

I wear both of them, they are really nice for PvE Fights like Ragnaros himself. Flames drops from Rag, Scales drops from Onyxia.
