These items can also be looted from snow piles. One example of these snow piles is in the Arathi Highlands, inside the elite ogre camp. You'll see little piles of show all around. These piles of snow drop 3-5 snowballs each and have a relatively fast respawn rate. These snow piles only appear during the Christmas event.

You can get Hardpacked Snowballs in Alterac Valley battlegrounds, whats special about these snowballs you can throw them at enemy players, it knocks them back, far.

These are littered all over the ground in the Alterac Mountains. It's very fun to throw at people, particularly if they are in your party. If you throw a snowball at someone in your party, it will know them down.

I've been doing too much AV the last 4 wks and have 4/5 Warlord's Pursuit set. When ppl on my team started using the snowballs to throw me off the bridge, I got pissed. Then, I started doing it and found it to be a lot of fun. Bottom line is have fun its a just a game.

Hotfix details:

- Regular snowballs will no longer knock down groupmates in a Battleground. This only applies to Battlegrounds. The reason for this is that grouping is forced in the Battlegrounds and players were using the mechanic to cause grief to their teammates.

- "Hardpacked Snowballs" -- specific to Alterac Valley -- can only be used against enemy targets. Again, the reason for this was due to negative player issues caused between teammates in Alterac Valley.

What are snowballs good for? Throw them isn't a good description. Do they have any effects / use, or are they just for fun?

I grabbed some of these out of AH and had a great time with them tagging passerbies... but the question is, where can you find more?

I realize that engineers with that schematic can make them, but it claims snowballs are a vendor/drop item, what vendors have them? What drops them? No info of such things is given =(

Both the design and the snowballs were for christmas only. There was a vender in org, and just about ever other major city selling them.

I've had guildies hit me with hese beofre xmas - told me theyy were banked from last xmas - and I've traded them . no expiration date - good to go. Blizzard noted the only thing that expired (that didn't state an expriation date) in the notes for the 05 xmas patch was mistletoe. if you had it, would be changed to fake mistletoe.

BTW, Nice bug involving having a party member throwing a snowball on you just when flying any path.. If you throw in the right time you get teleported to the place you choosed and gets the knockdown effect :D

so for example:
Invite someone, beg them to spam-throw snowballs (they cost 9c / 5 snowballs) and start fly to like tanaris from orgrimmar, takes years, with "snow-ball technique" you get teleported :)

PS: Use in raids to throw on an unsispicious healer and look how the raid turns to a 40man snowballfight!

i threw a snowball at a hunter pulling 2 firelords in MC the other day.....it was so hilarious

i caused the wipe and i get like 1000 whispers "OMG DUDE THAT WAS HILARIOUS"

I Finished Buying Like 3000 Snowball and storing them on bank characters hoping to sell them soem time in the summer but then suddenly Blizzard NERFS THEM. Thanx Blizzerd now My Snow Is Worthless >:(

I find them to still be profitable. I bought a bunch. At the original 10c each I got a 20-stack for 2silver. Just a few weeks ago I sold that 20-stack at the auction house for 55silver. And lots of other people were asking a similar price too.

They are useful for other crafting skills, so people will pay good money when they're out of season.

I think last year they resold for about twice what they are now, but hopefully it'll go up the farther away from winter we get...

i had a hunter on staghelm (usa server) i bought snowball from the goblin guy and sold em for 2-3g each stack after i put em to ah i saw them they are gone thought that just my luck tried again and sold again :S at ah ... and earn about 20 g wihich is good for nothing i guess ...

The employees of Smokywood pastures sell these, 5 of 'em cost 10c

First of all: they're only avaiable from Smokywood Pastures employee during holidays (5c/stack) Second of all: the only OTHER way you can get them is by Snowmaster 1900
Third of all: There are snowballs in Alterac Valley. when you throw them at people, the are stunned for a short period of time and wil be hurled a few feet back

Stuff really is cheep. 10 copper for 5, 9 copper for 5 if you have good reputation with the faction you are buying from, and right about june/july, (Fathest possible time from XMAS), a stack of 20 (bought for 40 copper) usually goes for 2-3Gold!

Theese are sweet got a couple thousand of em in my bank and am starting to sell them now. When i go to the AH to do so i notice there is only 1 other person selling snow balls!

This is great fun. Wait by the griphon launch area someplace and target someone as they walk up. As they take off, throw a snowball at them!

The snowball will never catch them, so you just see this trailing comet chasing the griphon, presumably until lands I guess. I'd like someone to do this to me so I can get a screenshot from the griphon's back :)

speaking of yellow snow, apparently this snowball stuns you for like a few sec's. Its made using the snowmaster 9000 and that requires 190 engineering.

- during a fight, the snowballs can proc from judgement of wisdom. Not light though it seems - I cant really test it properly with seal of light, as I mainly use autaattacks with procs.

9.1.5 I still can knock down raid member in raids. But it only works on some and not others. (No neural neutralizer on all)
Anyone know why some are immune?

So ive been holding onto this tech for a while now. Stocked up on these in phase 1. If you target yourself and throw a snowball at urself it will cause a fall down animation when in a party or raid. You can use this animation to interrupt your fall height so you can literally jump from any height and live with good timing. Also on the 4th boss in ST it interrupts the wind knockback so you can throw it as soon as the wind gust starts and ull still be in front of the boss. it is some great tech. ONLY WORKS WHEN IN A RAID/PARTY Have fun
