This key unlocks the doors to Dire Maul North and West. To get the key you must enter the main entrance to Dire Maul East. You will find a little imp named Pusillin. He is friendly at first so talk to him and you will need to chase him around the instance. Don't worry if he gets too far away, he stops every so often so you can fight the mobs to catch up. Once you get to the end (top of a platform) he says a few more things then turns into a demon you will need to fight. After you kill him he will drop the key for everyone to loot that needs it.

Just a little FYI... if you die in East Dire Maul, you can enter West Dire Maul to resurrect. Your spirit will go right through the locked door. I didn't try to enter North Dire Maul this way so I don't know if it works for all of them. Anyway, the point is, you can skip the key ;)

Yes, the door is lockpickable, so no need for rogues with maxed lockpicking to keep it.

it is easy to take the key.
1st go to east DM
2nd take the left road
3rd when the road ends u will see a small demon,an imp.talk to it.
4rd it will start runing like hell :P , no need to rush just follow it
5th the imp stops 50 metres after.talk to it again.it will make another run
6th the imp is doing 4-5 runs at total. at the last phase u have to kill it.when u do u just loot it,there are 5 keys,so all the team can get 1! dont worry about that.

Guys, you don't need a key to get into this instance. East DM is not locked. If there was a need for a key, an Arcanite Key will open any door in DM. Next, you cannot solo this, and I don't think anyone would want to attempt to beat down L57 elite trees with 19k HP! Groups of 3-4 L55 Lashers are par for the course too. Soloing those? No way. Not when you aggro all three, and you will. We had a 60 Mage, 60 Warrior, and 60 priest and we wiped about 10 times in 2 hours. Of course, you can go all the way around, or you can have members of your group send him on his way from the start, and just go meet him using the side entrance. You will have to clear to the left of that entrance to get to him, but, using this entrance will keep you from having to kill 10% of the mobs. I suggest just taking a whole L60 group to get the key. That way, you'll all get it, and those 5 L60's can escort other guild members in North and West DM. 5 times the fun! Remember, anything worth having requires work. That key will save you beaucoup bucks in Arcanite when going to the Library.

Just soloed him right now. Stealth naked -> talk to him -> die -> repeat until he turns nasty.

Had to fight 2 stealth-detection guys underways, but they were very easy.

His adds aren't linked to him, so you can kill those before you kill him. I died once on them, as most of their damage was fire, something I wasen't aware of. Pusillin's damage is also mostly fire, so wear a decent amount. I wasen't, so had to use a pot, plus a whipper root and night dragon's breath. But he died!

Blacksmithing keys (Truesilver to be exact) can be used, but only if you have 300 blacksmithing. Otherwise, it will give you an error saying your skill is too low.

Easily solod by a rogue.

Have a Greater Fire Prot pot, and you're gold. Kick to interupt the fireballs, and he doesn't really do much. Didn't even get me close to 50% health.

You can cheat.... w00t w00t you don't need any key at all... just let a fat boy ogre kill you whilst you kiss the outside of the door.. then as a ghost run inside and resurrect just inside the door.

Can be soloed as a 70 protection warrior (If a prot warrior can do it anyone but maybe a healy preist should be able to). probably even lower than that cause it wasn't hard. Died once cause I aggroed to many by accident. Other than that np. The majority of the mobs can be ignored.

And for all you haters, I wasn't doing this to brag, just letting you know if you want to get the runn tum tuber recipe.

I did it on a 68 hunter and it was easy. Pet never died and I killed every mob on the way to the end of this stupid demon.

I don't know what's up with the agro range on cthe Warpwood crushers, but it's out of control. Otherwise very easy to solo as 70 Paly.

Two warlocks can get the key alone. I'm a level 62 aff lock; my partner was a 63 demo lock.

The first thing we did was enter Dire Maul East through the entrance that's on the right side of the Broken Commons. The imp should be near the entrance to the left once you get in, talk to it and run back out of the instance. Now, go south and east to the other entrance to Dire Maul East (the one where you have to walk through a narrow corridor). Enter, and again the imp should be nearby to the left. The other lock sicced the felguard to get the aggro of the trees while I talked to the imp, and then we both ran out of the instance to lose aggro. Reenter the instance.

Now the we start heading north and clearing for real. We banished two elementals at a time while the felguard tanked until we found the imp again. Just follow it again east down the narrow hallway, and keep on going straight. There are some stealthers beware. Once the imp runs up the ramp onto that balcony, that's the end. Talk to him and he will aggro; we destroyed him with some effort, but we never wiped once.

Also, the imp drops the Crescent Key regardless of whether or not you have the quest to kill him or whatever.

Did it today as a lvl 62 affliction warlock

with a 61 feral druid as tank/healer :P
none of us had ever been to Dire Maul so at first we went the wrong direction (right instead of left when you enter) we realized this and went back and killed of the mobs the other way :D
There was a big tree guy (forgot the name) hiding around a corner across the path facing a lasher (one who changes color and stuff) so we accidentialy pulled both of em.. the big guys are immune to Banish but not the lashers, we fought them killed the big one. druid died and i CoEx kited the lasher. Then the pathe was clear excpet a few mobs that we took care of, then we started the chase of the lil' fella.. because we had already cleared the pther way it was an easy task blah blah blah... when we caught up with him everything went wrong.......

he reflects all DoTs and curses that i throw at him and he hits quite hard, we wiped...
then we went back and pulled all the little ones and he didn't aggro :O anyway, we killed him, got the key and HSed out

Solo'd as a 70 Aff warlock. Most of it can be bipassed by walking along the edge, on the other side of the pillars. Don't even try to avoid the trees, they will aggro and bring others with them, instead find a good place and fight them deliberately. Satyrs can be banishfeared, and cast detect invisibility for a couple mobs.

As for the fight with him, just aoe his friends down soon and let your VW take tank him, I couldn't really see any major visual clues as to when he does spell reflect, so make sure to have pots/healthstones/shadow ward up

Solo-ed the Key part with my level 70 Hunter.. Pretty easy except those the traps.. Slow and steady gets the job done.

Talk to Pusillin.

First get rid of the big trees, these aggro when you try to pass them, I guess it's a trigger trap thing.
Next get rid of the roaming trees (Those in groups of 3)
Next kill those big group of non-elite plants.

Talk to Pusillin.

Loop that a couple of times.

On the other side of the room Pusillin goes into a tunnel keep following, keep away from the traps.

Eventually he'll go right up a slope and is cornered.

You'll fight him and he'll summon a lot of non-elite imps.

Loot the Key and Cooking recipe done :)

Soloed this over the weekend. (70 Holy pally - Mostly Kara epics, a few blues). It was pretty annoying - long and tedious for lack of DPS but never actually dangerous. Come in the western door to DM East (not the southern door). You'll be on the northwest side an elevated walkway encompassing a large rectangular courtyard. Talk to Pusilin, and he will run away to the south. You'll clear your way to his new position. Rinse and repeat. He will eventually loop counterclockwise up to the northeastern corner of the courtyard.

You'll encounter the following mobs on walkway in the courtyard:
- Phase Lasher - single mobs. Do a surprising amount of damage for a mid-50s elite. Just burn them down and drink.
- Big leafy guardians (look like ancients) - single mobs. Huge, but not as bad as the Phase Lashers. You can bypass some of these by walking on the railing of the walkway. Unfortunately, Pusilin likes to stop near these guys.
- Patrolling groups of smaller elite treants. They come in packs of 1 and 3. The 3-mob groups will do some damage, but you should be fine. I stunned the first and judged wisdom on him. Then spammed consecrate, judgment of righteousness and holy shock. They all went down before my hammer was back up.
- Swarms of non-elite baby flowers. Consecrate FTW. They seem to respawn sometimes and can appear out of nowhere.

Once you get to the NE corner of the courtyard, turn east and follow Pusilin down the tunnel. Beware of stealthed satyrs (got felcloth off one!). No real problem as they come singly. Continue east down a short ramp until you emerge in a large room extending east and 3 small alcoves on the south side. You'll encounter some more Phase Lashers (single pulls) and a couple Satyr pulls (all single pulls but one).

Pusilin will run up a ramp in the second alcove and wait for you there. When you talk to him this time, he aggroes and spawns three non-elite level 57 demons. Easy fight, really. Stun him, 2-3 consecrates should take care of the adds. Spam exorcism and holy shock as needed - it's over before you know it.

Pusilin dropped the key and a recipe for Run Tum Tuber surprise. Obsolete post-BC, but appealing to me as I am a cook and a completist.

Here is a quick guide to getting this. It is extremely easy, and can actually be done by as few as 3 good, well geared players. I would suggest taking a full group of 5 so you get more people keyed, but it's not necessary as long as you have a good group make-up.

The classes you will NEED will be an AoE class (mage/lock), a healing class (priest/druid/paladin/shaman), and a tank class (warrior/druid/paladin). For the purposes of these fights, and as easy as they are, you shouldn't be to concerned about your tank as long as your group knows what they are doing. I was in a group that actually used a rogue as their tank for the whole time, and it worked out just fine.

You want to enter Dire Maul East from the central arena area. Dire Maul East, obviously, is the Eastern entrance. It is the only entrance without a locked door impeding it, and if that's not enough help as you enter the arena area and go to the right of the arena.

When you first enter there will be some mobs out in front of you, but off to the right there will be a small imp romping around. Go talk to that imp and he will talk about you having to catch him or some crap. After that he runs off down the corridor. From that point you will have to kill all the mobs between Pusilin and you. Each time you get to him, talk to him as much as he'll talk, then he will turn and run. You will run all the way to the end of the corridor, killing mobs and talking to Pusilin along the way, and then take a left (you can't turn any other way). Now you are facing east, do the same thing as before (there is an exit to DM east off to the south, but don't take that). Now you'll turn left again and will be facing North. Go all the way to the end of this path, killing and talking the whole way down. At the end of the path Pusilin will take off down a hallway. Follow him to the end of the hallway.

After you have come out of the hallway you walk into an area full of demons (Satyrs). Kill your way to Pusilin, but be aware that there are stealthed Satyrs in here as well. So be careful. Pusilin will be out in the middle of the room. Talk to him for the second to last time. He will run away again, off to the right, and up a ramp. Kill your way up that ramp, and Pusilin will be sitting on the landing behind where the ramp opens up at. Now, get ready for a boss fight. Mana up, buff up, and put on any fire resistance gear you have. Talk to Pusilin for the last time and he summons 8-12 imps to come in and hammer your party. They do fire damage, but are generally weak, so you can AoE these down. A few seconds after you talk to Pusilin he will turn into a larger version of himself, and he will start doing fire damage as well. His damage isn't insignificant either. He can AoE, and melee, and both hit like dump trucks, but he's fairly weak armor and healthwise.

After he dies, loot his body, and enjoy your new key. Everyone in your group can loot a key, not just one person. So be sure EVERYONE snags it.

This was easy, LVL 64 and LVL 70 Lock defeated Puslin, Just have one banish one tree and the other banish the other... Then commence to beating... about 30-40 minutes. Lots of savage fronds. Use banish warlocks...

It can be soloed by a druid but it can be very frustrating. Keep stealthing to him, appear and talk to him and then get pummeled, you may wish to do this naked but you may die before you can finish the conversation without the extra armor. There are ghost npc that will attack you, make sure you can fight them were you won't agro anyone else. When you finally face Puslin he will call forth imps. I died and returned and used my aoe with fr plus any other potions improve my stats. Then you just have to take out puslin. Drop a fr pot wait till the cooldown ends then attack him in bear, stun and heal yourself when you need and drop the other fr pot when it runs out. its not easy and it took me 3 gos to get him but it is soloable, goodluck!

Just soloed the key as a level 70 Warrior... just Cleave and whirlwind ftw at the boss. You can skip almost every single mob on the way.

No, this key can be used over and over. Everyone in the group should be able to pick up a copy of it when Pusillin drops it.
