This is only better than Dense on *very* slow weapons (3.5+), offhands, or extremely high-level weapons.

On a 2.8 speed weapon, Dense Sharpening Stone is worth almost 40 AP, with 1.9 speed it's 58 AP, but with a 3.5 speed weapon you only gain the equivalent of 32 AP.

(extra_damage/weapon_speed)*14 = attack_power

I recommend you use the mod "TheoryCraft" to find out how much attack power 1% crit is worth with your current gear before choosing which stone to use. As a general rule for dual wielding however, Dense on main-hand and Elemental on off-hand will give the best results.

Still the best sharpening stone to use on large, slow weapons, especially 2-handed ones. The jury is out on whether they are better than

for faster weapons, particularly daggers on a rogue, I'd expect the latter stones to edge this out, at least in a PVE environment.

Note that this works on maces too, so no need to keep 2 types of sharpening stone around if you switch around a lot.

Nice that there's something still useful from Molten Core, particularly as it's about the only thing I ever got from there as I started my raiding career quite late in the game.

This is still the best temporary enchant for any druid using a 2h mace (namely, those that use Earthwarden to DPS, and those that use the Gladiator's Mauls).

these stones unlike Dense Sharpening Stones actually work when used on the off-hand weapon. Dense Stones say they are sharpened and add damage but don't.

actually got the recipt last week and just learnt it when i got the recipt (since a lot ppl in that raid ask me to do that ASAP)...and confirmed with rogue that 2 weapon actually added 4% crit!....which means if hunter's going to use that....better swap pole to 2 dagger or sword sth....that's really hurts

U can make a fortune out of this by selling it on the AH, the 3 x dense stones and 2 x elemental earth are real easy.....
Sell these thingies for like 5-10g and that's 3-8g profit easy.
If you keep the price low, you will sell um real quickly and make um just as fast as you sell um.
I wish i had these plans :\

The stones will not work with ranged attacks with 1.10. :)

To some above posters:
Yes, these stones stack! they stack with themselves and they work not only for the weapon they are used on.
If you use one of them on each of your melee weapons yor critchance raises by 4% - at least melee crit from 1.10 on, sry hunters.

Well for horde these aren't what I would call great PVE usefuls. Our shammys drop totems that do things better and they are free. PVP it's nice cause it persists through death. Basically if A) you are farming or pvping (no shams dropping totems usually), or B) you don't have a shammy in your group dropping totems, then use them. I'm dual wield fury and I love em. Just got the pattern and now I'll be farming elemental earth a lot. When I tank it usually involves a shield so I don't get +4 I get +2 only. A lvl 2 GoA gives a warrior 3.45% crit and dodge so I'd prefer that. WF is just WF (completely awesome) and better than +2% crit only.

Seems like for sword rogues this makes poisons basically irrelevant.

Kind of sad really.

Since it adds an amount based on how much damage you do, it scales as you get stronger. So if you have Dal'Rends and super high attack power this benefits you a lot.

If you have fast daggers then perhaps poisons are still good, I haven't done the math yet.

ye they are very esay to make... ELemental earth drops all the time from earth elements at lvl 30+

BTW no poison aint use less at all.. Lucifrons adds aint imune to any poison = Mind-numbing Poison III so the MC is gonna take longer to cast :D the same with Majordomos heling adds...

This dropped off Garr last night in Molten Core.

Keep in mind that EVERYTHING in MC is completely immune to all poisons anyway. As long as we're down there, our rogues use sharpening stones/nothing anyway.

However, no sharping stone will ever replace crippling or mind-numbing poisons, so that aspect of the class is safe.

I can confirm that this does NOT increase your crit chance while in bear or cat form. (Despite what Icy Veins states.)
Unless this is a tool tip error (doubtful) it is not useful for Druids.
