I will show you the improvement this trinket gives:
Lets say that a priest has 2 of these trinkets
Assuming the Mana/Spirit Regen System is ::
4 spirit = 1 mana per 2 seconds

ie: 2.5 mana per 5 seconds

While not casting it would take about 18 spirit to regenerate at the same rate of 22mp/5sec

With the priest's talent for "15% mana regen during casting" (Meditation - Dispipline Tree)would mean that 4 spirit would provide about .375 mana per 5 seconds during the 5 second penalty after casting a spell...which is pretty worthless.

To get enough spirit to regen 22 mana every 5 sec during the 5 second period where 15% mana regen is active, you would need about :: 235 spirit! ::

Conclusion: These trinkets give an extraordinary boost to regeneration while casting yet still give a respectable non-casting regeneration. Great for Raids.

Spirit Formula is 4 Spirit = 1 mana/2 seconds.
Equal to about 5 mana/10 seconds.

Mindtap Talisman is 11 mana/5 seconds.
Equal to about 22 mana/10 seconds.

So roughly, 17.6 spirit = 11 mana every 5 seconds.

This is regen outside the 5 second rule (which is you will not begin to regenerate mana from spirit for the next 5 seconds after the completion of a previous cast. However, with the mana/per sec items, mana will regen continuously.

Don't presume you know everything.

Each class has it's own formula.
I've tested the high level class i have access to, here are my conclusion

priest mana per tick = spirit/4 + 15ish
mage mana per tick = spirit/4 + 13 (accurate)
paladin spirit/5 + 10ish
warlock spirit/5 + 10ish

not sure about druid

formula apply 5 seconds after last cast.

A simpler way to thing of mana/5 is in terms of int/min.

Basically, for every minute a fight goes, 1 mana/5 sec is like having .8 int at the beginning of a fight, assuming you never hit full mana.

Thus, this trinket is like having 8.8 int / minute of a fight. In a 10 minute MC boss fight, this trinket is like having 88 more intellect at the beginning of the fight. That's one helluva trinket.

A friend and I have formed countless five man groups and attempted to farm this guy for the mindtap talisman for my priest and the compendium for my warrior. The drop rate on this on the Moonrunner server is absolutely horrid, we keep ending up w/the flamescar shoulders (which were nice for my druid as well, lol) and the crappy plate bracers. The only interesting drop to date has been the Libram of Focus, otherwise, many hours of life wasted on this fugger, ;P.

I wield two of these as a healer and it's really awesome. if you dont have these yet, go farm DM for a pair.

Only other trinkets I'd ever replace these for are:

Shard of scale
Rejuvenating gem.

Other then that, I can't see any other trinkets worthy...

I love DM West runs. There's me, another druid and a warlock who frequent this route as we all have things to gain (though not the other druid now) :) The lock is after Libram of Focus, I want my second Mindtap (got everything else off Kalendris now hehe) and the other druid now has both.

It's great fun. We kill the pylons then go through the ghosts and kill Kalendris. Got it down to a fine art with the three of us now.

Kalendris often tries to MC the Lock's Succubus to no avail so he's easy :)

I've killed this guy probably 30 times now and have yet to even SEE one drop. Maybe I just have terrible luck, but I'm getting real tired of it (and I know my guildies are tired of hearing me asking).

Also, it really sucks next patch... it's going to be even harder to get people to help farm since no one needs librams anymore. Definitely need one to drop soon, hopefully tonight.

EDIT: What do you know... it finally dropped.

Can also be duo'd easily with hunter and pally.

Run by the first two groups of spirit mobs by hugging the right wall. The next two groups can be bypassed by pulling with the hunter pet and feigning while running along the left wall where the magister is. Watch out for the invisible spirit guys. Hug the wall where the magister is and pull him when the group in front of him goes out of range. If you pull him at the right time you won't aggro any mobs.

The magister himself is easy by letting the pet tank while the pally heals the pet. Shadow resist aura on while Salvation is on the hunter and BoL on the pet. Hunter goes full dps and he goes down quick.

This thing is so incredable, 11 mana regen per 5sec is god like. I favor mana regen far more then large mana pool since now doing harder bosses that fight for close to 10 minutes you get major mana back. this trink alone will give back 660 mana over a 5 minute fight, now counting that you can duel these and not counting any other mana per 5 sec gear you have on.

This is also great for very long duels. I'm restoration spec and duels againts other shaman or druids last over 5 mintues easily, longest being over 10 minutes and we both gave up. almost always it comes down to the one who has better mana regen.

Best trink i can see past this is the shard of the scale, a onyxia drop that has 16 mana regen per 5/sec.

=) Since the patch, moonkins got a buff! We get 10% of our intellect in mana / 5 seconds, so that means I get up to 41 mana from that alone, plus with gear, Im up to about 90 or more.. Add this and I'll never run out of mana! =) Going after this baby today.

This is nice for a Hunter odd as that may seem.
Between pulls,swap it out for your regular second Trink, whack on Aspect of the Viper & you are pumped full of mana ready for some more carnage. :)

For priests the formula is....

(spirit / 4) + 13 = mana per tick restored.

300 spirit would be: (75) + 13 = 88 mana per tick

So 88 mana every 2 seconds. Once a spell is cast that stops for 5 seconds and then starts again. So when you are chain healing your spirit doesnt give you back any mana. That is why you want +mana for boss fights. +mana continues while casting so this is always filling up your mana pool.

In 1.10 priest will get +healing = (spirit /4)

So if you have 300 spirit that would be +75 to healing!

Spirit is good and +mana is good for longer fights.

Mana over time works better and better the more stuff you have that gives you the regen. Running oils and all my mana regen gear I can get I think 36 mana/per 5. Nice on a 60 tauren druid. Waiting til I can get 3 pieces of stormrage so that I can get 30% spirit regen while casting. Also once I get the ZG Mageblood potion recipe that's another 12 mana per 5 and that would put me up to 48. Now that's not even using any of the nice trinkets that give mana over time. If I could get the mindtap talisman and the onyxia one that would be able to get me up to 75 mana every 5 seconds fully buffed. That's 15 mana a second, nice for boss fights isn't it? Just trying to make the point that mana regen works best if you just stack it as much as possible.

This trinket is uber for endgame raidinstances. The average MC boss fight lasts around 5 mins.
5 * 60 = 300 secs.
300 / 5 = 60
60 * 11 = 660

This trinket alone will regen around 660 mana on an avarge MC bossfight.
Combine this one with Shard of the scale from Onyxia (16/5 sec) which would give you 960 mana on the same fight, and you would have a total of 1620 mana regenerated on an avarage boss fight, from 2 trinkets 0.0

The item you entered has an effective score of 18 Spirit or 11 mana per 5 seconds during normal regeneration. That's 4.4 mana per tick or 132 mana per minute.

Gotta love the way the icon looks like a duracell battery. The trinket isn't unique so you can equip two of them and just go on, and on, and on :)

First time I kill this guy and he drops this. Out rolled a priest w/ a 100. Noticed a difference while fighting actually.

Everyone get (spirit/5 + 17) per 2s except priests who get (spirit/4 + 17). The point is that spirit regeneration stops for 5s after you begin casting a spell. Thus spirit gives most classes nothing if they are chain casting. This item gives you mana all the time regardless.

Mana Regen Formula:
1 tick is 2 seconds
Priest = 13 + (Spirit / 4) every 2 seconds.
All Others = 13 + (Spirit /5) every 2 seconds.

This Trinket regens 4.4 mana every tick (2 seconds) ie ((11 mana/5sec) * 2 sec). This is ALWAYS working while worn. To get the same amount of mana regen while casting(inside 5 sec rule) AND with talent points maxed in mana regen (15% for Priests/Druids), a druid would need 145 spirit and a priest needs 115 spirit.
Being able to stop casting during fights, greatly reduces the boost this trinket gives. If you are able to stay outside of the 5 sec rule for 50% of a 5 minute fight, this reduces the spirit effective cost of this trinket by about 60%. So, in the above five minute fight this trinket is still worth Druids=85 spirit and Priest=70 spirit.
A great trinket to say the least!
Down side?
This trinket regens 132 mana per minute.
Until end game raids, most fights last around one minutue. During these fights you will be much better off with a trinket that has intel on it! Mana regen does not really help you on short fights! Load up on intel for short fights.
