This comes from the Goblin in Dire Maul North, you have to get the key to open the lock around his leg, after that he runs and lets you get his chest. It has a chance to drop this and many other good recipes.

It's on ogre (north) side. It's in a small chest that a goblin drops, you don't kill the goblin you free him with a key that can drop off the guards.

(I haven't got this pattern, but I've got other ones off of the "Cache").

I bought all my mats and had some gathered by friends as well for the first cloak I made (mine). I spent around 90ish gold on mats for mine. But I'm making them for free (mats provided) on Skywall server. =D

No, DM North is not stealthable due to the dogs' stealth detection. Also, this instance is much too hard for just two characters to kill enough mobs to get the shackle key to free the goblin to get this pattern.

On Silvermoon this pattern routinly sells for 800g bid and 1000g buy out. If it was 150g I would buy it in an instant. The cape sells for 400-600 gold each and is sold almost as fast as it goes to AH. I am 300 Tribal Leatherworker 53 level Holy Pally and I would wear this on my back all day long, it goes with the Lightforge Armor so well.

This cloack is 250g MAXIMUM, ppl allways try to sell for much more expensive. You can buy materials from ah or grind them. Personally I bought mats from ah for 100g and the rest I grinded for myself.

Rugged Leather -> AH, 1g per stack, total 3g
Living Essence -> Un'Goro Crate, Tar Lord, 2%droprate
Essence of Water -> Felwood, Toxic Horror, 6% droprate
Larval Acid -> EPL, Carrion Grub, 3% droprate
Cured Rugged Hide -> Difficult to grind if you're not skinner. I would suggest to buy from ah, that'll make you 3x2g=6g

To my knowlege, farmin mats for this is not incredibly difficult. Probably the thoughest part will be farming Essence of Water due to low drop rate and opposite faction ganking as to be expected in felwood (where farming for such things is best)

As far as the Living essence, those drop pretty regularly off the tar elementals in Ungoro and larval acids are not tought ot come by. I farmed 4 of them in an hour just this morning. perhaps they buffed the drop rate...

Farming the Essence of water in Felwood is a pain in the a$$ cuz there always at least 2 more doin just the same (even in the middle of the night ...) Travel to Eastern Plaguelands instead and farm it off the water elements there at the same time u farm the larval acid off the carrion grubs. Bigger area and loads of mobs, and other farmers can easily be avoided. Did this in between strat runs and it turned out to be my best "farming experience"...

I have this pattern and am a 60 druid but haven't made it for myself because it's barely better than my cloak.....

Adding the stats up Hide of the Wild is really not THAT much better (I have plenty of +healing gear so the +9 difference doesnt make a big difference.) I'm on Cenarius if anyone has any question.

The Cloak itself is sold for 300-400G

I guess players don't like healers having better ways to heal otherwise they wouldn't overprice it.. At least not the Pattern.. Come on.. Not even Robe of the Void, Truefaith vestments etc. are that expensive.

Yeah, Tanks, keep on complaining about the healers... Go on.. .. Well you shouldn't have rolled on the pattern :))

Today we farmed DM north trying to get the pattern for the shifting cloak, this dropped instead...so we tried again and what happened? it dropped AGAIN. Has this droprate been changed or should i go buy a lottery ticket too

Just want to get this right.....

Kill mobs in Diremaul North.... get key to free goblin......

Free goblin..... chest drops.... chance to get this pattern.......

I ran this the other day and the key didn't drop. Further along in the area there was another locked door that I couldn't find the key for. Does anyone know where that key is?

Also, once the key drops do you just have to free the goblin or do you have to kill any other mobs or bosses? I have the mats for the ogre suit quest as well as the broken trap quest that are right there. Guess I will c what happens when I run this tonight.

To all those that say that a rogue cant do this. i beg to differ, as a lvl 70 i can get around the dogs being careful, and i only have to kill the three gaurds, one at a time, which evasion comes in handy. The chance that one of the gaurds drop the key is rediculously high, only twice in my 20-30 runns have they not. this is now my secong epic pattern out of the box, the other was the tailoring one.

I got it for 265G, which is a screaming deal since it usually goes for 350+ on my server...

All the healers in my guild are now farming mats for it =P

On another note - how rare is this? And what is a reasonable fee to charge a stranger who provides mats?

It drops often now on Bladefist and goes for around 100g if you got the matts you can let it
be made for only 10g or less.

Yes the materials are annoying but it can be accomplished easily with a little patience... I got 4 essence of water in just 1 hour, and my friend gave me 3 larval acid from grinding. I have like 10 refined salts so i dont have to worry about that... IMO the hardest is the living essence, well atleast the face that it requires 12 makes it hard as hell... I have like 3 now from a lot of farming... Like 1/4 of the way there to my epic cloak w00t

Oh yeah BTW i got this recipe on only my second try, maybe its just luck but possibly the drop rate has been increased?

compared to the other materials for thimblejacks epic recipes this is RIDICULOUSLY easy to craft

I got 3 Larval Acid just doing Tirion Fordring's worm-meat quest ... 'nuff said

hardest part is to :

a.) find a shackle key
b.) get the recipe
c.) get a 300 tribal LW you trust (if you aint one yourself)
