This is an excellent staff for any caster for pre-raid end-game. A great mix of stats, +damage, and 1% spell crit. Definitely one of your best choices for a pre-ZG staff.

You must complete a perfect tribute for this item to be in the chest.

As a priest, I can't say I'd want this weapon. I'd take the 29/30 int staves over this anyday. Crits are nice, but a big mana pool is better. I would say this staff would be much better in the hands of a Mage, Druid or Shaman.

I don't see why priests keep trying to argue about crit gear in respects to heals. Crit gear pretty much always has much lower stats compared to same lvl non-crit items.
Crits for dmg are 50% more dmg (disregarding talents). I'm assuming crits for heals are the same. So a +1% crit rate means your heals do on average a half-percent more healing... yay. I imagine a lot of those crit heals will be overheals anyway so you'd get even less than half-percent improvement. The armor bonus from Holy-tree is nice I admit, but it looks like the stats from other items will let you cast much more heals in comparison and be much more useful.
Can't say the same for shadow priests and such, but trying to argue about critical heals is just pointless. Crit gear pretty much means more downtime and less endurance due to stat loss, but more explosive and unpredictable spells; None of these qualities do you really want in a healer.

This better for priest or druid, for u mages i prefer the trindleheaven staff which has 30 int and 10 stam as far as i remeber. And priests do solo as well... so we need that spell crit chance... quit complaining.

And one thing, the new honor rank 14 staff and Benediction from PRIEST EPIC Q are better than this

EDIT: Even tough i say this is better for priest / druid, i will not say that mages and warlocks could not roll on this... it is a great staff for any caster (hate those ^&*! warrior and hunter ninjas)

First of all, this is a great staff for all casters, mainly mage, warlock and priest since we're primary casters.
But I don't see how people can claim it benefits a warlock or a priest more than a mage.
Warlocks and priests use dots religiously in battle which don't crit, while as a firemage I have to crit just to activate my ignite dot. Furthermore, I rely on heavy burst damage from crit and +dmg gear since mage's are naturally the weakest physical class in the game and have few solid defensive skills.
And I'd think that priests would want a staff with higher stats for healing, mostly more spirit, but that's just my opinion.
I'm not saying that mage's should have priority on this, but just know that they greatly benefit from it as well, and most mages are already dropping their base stats for +dmg and +crit gear anyway.

As a priest who frequently runs MC, this is a very good staff to have. I slapped a +55 healing enchant on it and from this staff alone I have +78 healing alone, i'm also using a +heal/mana regen set that gives +238 not including this staff, also I have the talent inspiration and more crit chance = more chances for 25% more armor for our tanks, which always helps. This staff has low int, but in MC you get enough buffs to make up for not having 8k mana, as of right now, i only have around 6k mana unbuffed and realisticly you don't need 8k mana, since +healing gear saves mana in the long run by making my heals alot bigger. For those of you who say we have benediction/anathema, the making of the staff requires an item from domos chest, where 5-6 other priests are clammering for the same item, a quest which requires you to respec to holy/disc which is also on a 2hr reset time if you fail, and 40+ hours of farming with others, or downing kazzak....you guys help us priests with the farming and the priests will pass on this staff. Until then, quit whining and let priests roll, since this benefits every caster out there.

If you do DM North without killing any of the named NPCs besides the King, you will get a chest at the end called the Tribute chest. It is filled with blues.

Some of the guards can be avoided, others have mini-quests associated with them.

One of the mini-quests for bypassing a guard is to use a Frost Oil and a Mithril Casing to arm a broken trap on the floor, and the guard walks through it and freezes permanently.

To bypass the final guard, you complete a quest inside the instance and receive an ogre suit. You speak to the guard and he will move out of the way allowing you to pass.

To me it looks like a mage/warlock staff..
Have never played a druid so can't say about that.

When playing a priest crits can be very nice, but they also have a nasty ability of drawing aggro. Besides you shouldn't be too dependent on crits when you are healing, at least, if you are doing your job well you won't.

I like how people say a massive mana pool is the way to go, TRULY not. My priest is only 55 and I've got 205 added healing right now, and a 5600 mana pool, and I NEVER run out of mana, but that's simply because my 1600 heal heals for 1800 & crits for 2750 (amazing for a 55 in blues). I would DEFINATELY take this to replace my Zumrah's Vexing Cane. BTW you priests need to learn some day that scholo isn't the best place to get your "mediocre int spirit stam" gear, get some Damage & healing gear from BRD. Anyways, this staff is amazing, I think it's easily the best blue staff in the game, outside of 20-mans.
I could go on and rant and rave about the people that think +int is all you should focus on. These are the 57-60 mages with 1600 health unbuffed, that are lying dead on the ground after they aoe for 3 seconds. They only get to use what, maybe a fourth of their mana before their tiny health bar goes away? It really is sad when 1 big heal can heal their ENTIRE bar, and it's not even a crit.

why is anyone even arguing? it's a staff for casters. i'm still leveling my first toon and have never played a healer in my alts, but i would assume that healing spells do some kind of "crit" just as a damaging spell. if you're a caster, no matter the class, and this is an upgrade, you have a right to need it. i can believe how many of these posts on this site involve the phrase "you should go for xxxxxx instead, it's much better for you class". what an idiotic idea, you can't choose what drops from the bosses when you run instances, you could try for xxxxxx for weeks and never see it. if something hits the floor in front of me and it's better than what i got on me, i'm going to need it, not say to myself "weelllllll, there's a chance that something that might be better might drop in an instance i might be able to find a group for, and this might occur while i'm still at a level where this item might still be appropriate".

and to the person that suggested warlocks go for the azuresong mageblade instead......GREAT IDEA, that's real easy to get.

Im so happy right now!

Been drooling on this staff since I was 40ish. But once I hit 60 it prooved quite hard to get into a tribute group. Then I joined as a random. It was the most horrible group, we died 5-7 times.

But we made it in the end and I was the only one who needed the staff! First run! :D

This sure made up for the 15+, futile, runs I made to ZG to get that damed Vexing Cane!

Been on 14+ Dm tribute runs,we don't kill any guards,kreeg,kromcrush,observer....not once has it dropped i spend 5g per run (for suit mats and trap mats,yes i supply both) and i already bought the mats for an unholy enchant.

Edit: Got it on my 21st run finally looks good with unholy.

I have it. I had to do over 10 tribute runs for it, but it was worth it. :)

Also got an expensive +30 spelldamage enchant on it, but that really boosts my dps. :)

After tons of Tribute runs this drops. There were no other casters other then an epic clad druid. Thought i was going to be the only one rolling need but no.... the druid "needs" it for his Wildkin form. I rolled 40 he rolled 70ish. Absolutley astonished, I offered him 150g for it. He declined. I am one saaaaad warlock.

a 7.2% chance to drop and i lose the damn thing to a balance druid who cant even use the staff yet, so i'm stuck with using the Trindlehaven Staff on my 60 Mage

Dropped finally on 30th run... was almost thinking it has been removed from the loot table :(. Party was warrior hunter paladin rogue and me (mage). So at least it was no doubt i get it. Don't give up if it doesnt show up :)

Simply prepare correctly (material for the ogre suit and the trap) and it's VERY easy to get. Did that 3 times and the staff was always in the chest. Imo the best blue staff in game; slightly better than Trindlehaven.

Gordok Tribute is Dire Maul, not LBRS there is another tribute in LBRS, but it isn't this one.

The stats and effects of this staff are nice, but ive done 2 tribute runs so far and i havent seen it... Would be a major upgrade for me considering all my weapons suck :(

Did northern DM with guild group. This thing drops. Me and shammy fight for 10min about who's gonna get it = chest is gone.

I'm a druid, but the only justification a druid (or priest) has for rolling on this staff if a mage/lock is present that wants it is if that druid happens to be Moonkin. Otherwise.... THIS IS NOT A HEALING STAFF. Get the Staff of Metanoia.... Staff of Metanoia only stupid lazy healers who know no better would actually roll on this over a lock/mage.

Before the patch i started doing stealth runs with a buddy druid and 3 rogues, we cruised through and got a giant tribute in less than 15 minutes, we did this about 10 times and i FINALLY got the staff

There is a two-hand combination that beats this staff, yes. Its the Azuresong Mageblade + (you pick) Cloud Stone, Prophetic Cane or the rose

done one run with a guild-priest that was going for Mindsurge Robe, 10th run for him.
After we'd completed it with just one initial wipe, both the robe and this pretty one dropped among other stuff.
The priest was afraid I'd want the robe too as the other caster, but I wanted this Staff more anyway as the previous one wasn't all that great anymore. Nice stats, +crit and +spell damage on the same staff is pretty awesome. Well, have to give up on Firestones for that but I never liked them much anyway.

Now I know the picture has a priest wielding the staff but is it really the best staff for priests. I always thought that is more for mages.

I have done tribute run more than 10 times but never seen that thing in the chest.
Besides,I always avoid those 3 guards so there will be 4 rare items in the chest and my question is whether killing Cho'Rush affects the amount/quality of rare item in the chest or not cuz he drops something really good that I want to get as well :)
