These will also work on at least some of the locked things you come across in Outland, so they can hold you over for the most part until you hit revered with the Consortium and get the elemental seaforium charge schematic (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23874). They may take more than one try in some cases, but I've confirmed they can open the following:

Solid Fel Iron Chests (like those in Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace)
Eternium Lockboxes

They will NOT open:
Bound Adamantite Chests
Khorium Lockboxes

I'll keep adding to the list if I find any others.

Anybody know if this charge opens any of the end-game instances... I'd really like to see us Engineers being able to blow up stuff beyond the Scarlet Monastery doors... would it KILL them to let us blast chests open...

i haven't found anything this can open that the others cant, i imagine searing gorge is one considering the day i left my key in the bank and had only large charges on me i got stuck walking through badlands.

says nearly every door so im hoping it opens the ones in higher lvl instances but i would imagine not onyxia's door.

As far as I know, nothing can open the UBRS door except the key.

Basically, if it requires a long, difficult line of quests, you probably can't blast it open.

Does this open chests or lockboxes or anything like that? Or just doors?

Opens service entrance gate for Stratholme and also Scholomance door.

these work on the last door in DM North. very useful when doing tribute runs since you dont have to kill the first boss for his key or waste time resetting the instance. none of the seaforium charges work on chests.. only doors as a last resort when you don't have a rogue handy.

Yes I agree I think this item should open chests, but with the risk of reducing the durability of what is inside.

Use the right bomb for the job and save money. The large can be used just fine for tribute runs where you may not have/need a rogue for a 5-man (and other ~40 level and under doors), while the powerful is just to open scholomance if you don't want to spend the 15g for the key, or no-one has the key to the back of strat. I'm sure as the game grows more doors will exist to open. I think its kinda cheap that you can suicide into many instances past the doors, so it means that these bombs are really only good if you need it for tribute, or don't have the scarlet key and are running strat.

At least most chests besides some footlockers in the world are unlocked, or you'll have a 10 man raid to do.

This opens the DM West door, good for farming when you don't have the DM key

Why not just aggro a mob near the door and die out side of it? It might cost you like 30s for that one death but take off your armor then die...Saves money and your charge.

I am a rogue level 57 with my Garona, and I am going to attempt to blow open the Dire Maul doors if my lock picking is not high enough (I have 281 lock picking right now) wish me luck, im going to make about 10 of them for safe keeping.

MAN! i asked arounf if these bad boys worked on chests almost everyone said they did... so i went to a locked chest in Auch Crypts and no joke i was mad.... DOESNT OPEN CHESTS.... i think it should cuz i do.... dang you blizzard

Hey, look! Now it opens chests: (quoting finalfork):"the skill usage of the chest opened is similar to Blacksmithing keys, E.G. the same lvl in engineering needed to make the charge is the equivalent skill given in lockpicking to open the chest."
Yay! No more looking for rogues all over the cities!

my lvl 62 Hunter and Ingi skill 330 has the recipe and always a few c4 charges.

This c4 charges will open chests in the first 2 Hellfire Peninsula Instances.

After grp left instance open the chests ;)

This charge will open the locked chest in Underbog but not the locked chest in Sethekk Halls. You will need the elemental seaforium charge for the really high level stuff so start working on your Consortium rep now kiddies.

The door inside Scholo can't be picked by rogues and the key drops from Rattlegore I'm wondering if they key got ninjaed would I be able to use the charge to blow the lock open?

I can confirm this works on Fel Iron chest in Underbog. Rogue in our group couldn't pick the lock. I of course took everything that didn't pop-up for a roll since the charges aren't free to make.

...in Dire Maul north tribute runs, as the Gordok Inner Door Key now despawns if you leave the instance. So to get a full tribute reward you need a Rogue to pickup the lock, a Blacksmith with a Truesilver Skeleton Key or an Engineer with this :)

kinda sucks you can use it not knowing if it will open. I'f say this opens anything a rogue can at skill 275 maybe 300

still costs a lot to pick 1 lock

I confirm that it can blow open the Inner Door in DM-NOrth... using it all the time now because the Tarnished Elven RIng simply won't drop and I'm afraid a rogue would claim it for himself well... who needs rogues whene he has got this? ^^

This is needed to open the door to Marshal in Blackrock Depths. A Large Seaforium Charge will not work.
